This was our first visit to this location, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The restaurant appeared poorly managed, and the service was extremely disorganized and lacking basic steps of service . Our chips and guacamole arrived 35 minutes after we ordered them. Drinks took 15-20 minutes per round, and we were never initially brought water--we had to rewuest water for the table after 30 min in to arrive. There were no refills of water. offered throughout the meal. Our food timing was also off. Entrées arrived before the chips and guac , and my meal never came out at all. After waiting 45 minutes, I asked for it to be packaged to go since everyone else had already finished eating. Another 20 min after I asked to have it packaged. We even left to go order ice cream finished our ice cream and still had to follow up with the waiter while our wives waited at the table to ask whether the missing food was ever coming. Drinks where not best blood orange margarita was not good at all. My friends log island looked and tasted different from his original. Consultancy for drinks not acceptable for a Resturant. Additionally, we requested that the heater be turned down, but that was never addressed. What was most concerning was the complete lack of management presence. No one came to the table to acknowledge the delays or address the issues. Overall, the service was unacceptable and very disappointing. Although overpriced like everything in this corner of UTC the food is quite good and probably a bit less expensive than some of the neighboring restaurants. We got a free starter (Poke guacamole chips) for signing up as a first time visitor, a teriyaki chicken bowl and sea bass plate. I visited this restaurant in La Jolla at 8:40 PM, knowing they close at 9 PM. Online orders were still available, so I walked in hoping to place my order in person since I was already there. One of the employees told me they needed to check if the kitchen was still open. A few moments later, they returned saying the grill was down and the kitchen was closed. As someone who works in the restaurant industry myself, I found this disappointing. If the kitchen is truly closed, online ordering should also be turned off. Yet, I was still able to place an online order immediately after being turned away--and my food was ready in 15 minutes. Clearly, the kitchen was operating. It left me with the impression that they simply didn't want to take my order because they were closing soon. I would've appreciated honesty or at least a suggestion to place a to-go order instead. The staff could have said, "Dining is closed, but feel free to order for pickup." But I wasn't even given that option. I was genuinely excited to try this place, so it was disheartening to feel unwelcome. Thankfully, my meal turned out to be tasty--so it wasn't a total loss. Still, I believe the management should revisit their guest service approach and order policy during closing hours. Wow, Pacific Catch surprised me! I honestly thought this establishment was more of like Rubio's. You know that fast food seafood type of place. Boy was I wrong! First off, the place is pretty big. It also had an outside patio and plenty of space indoors. Everyone was smiling and helpful. Pretty robust menu but I went simple and got the "Fresh Catch" option where you basically build your plate. Chose Salmon, with Sea Salt along with a salad & mashed potatoes [$29]. Everything on that plate was great- super fresh and super tasty. Got to try their calamari app & that was pretty good as well. The dessert we opted for was the Dulce De Leche that came with two pieces and vanilla ice cream. It was yummy! Service was on point, place was clean, & plenty of parking so Pacific Catch has it all. This was probably the 10th time I visited Pacific Catch at the UTC mall. Came here with friends as well as with work people. Overall, it's a good restaurant not far from work that can satisfy most people. But in terms of food, I came to expect just ok food and nothing spectacular. The service was always nice and pleasant. During our last visit, I order the double rainbow bowl, which had 6 pieces of fish, rice and one big scoop of crab salad, some veggies/pickled cucumber/seaweed salad and avocado. It was ok. The quality of the fish was not as good as what you'd get from a good sushi restaurant, but I guess that should be expected. The avocado was kinda dark with bruises, something that they probably shouldn't serve to customers. Honestly it's not worth the price they're changing but I guess things are expensive these days. My bf got the fresh catch, salmon with broccolini. He said that the salmon didn't have a lot of taste. He's on a diet so he's happy it was not that good so he wouldn't over eat. ha ha... Anyway, we'll probably visit the restaurant again in the future. It's close to work and close to home. Always nice service and we never had to wait for a table. The location is on the perimeter of the mall so it is a little bit away from the hustle and bustle of the center and it serves as a nice spot to relax. The patio is dog friendly and we love stopping here for lunch with the pup when we head up there. We like to start with either the original tuna ceviche with the sesame soy marinade or the classic ceviche with yellow tale and citrus marinade. I usually go with the fish and chips made with cod or one of their fresh catch plates with a miso glaze and sides of. Elote and fries. Service is usually pretty good and friendly. read more

Stopped by here for lunch with a coworker and we were both really disappointed in this place. The food was unimpressive and expensive. The drinks were way too sweet (I had the Lemongrass Mojito and my coworker had the Mai Tai). I got the Pacific Yellowtail and the Spicy Salmon sushi tacos. Nothing special whatsoever about this and I'm not 100% sure my yellowtail was even fresh. I also had their Baja Shrimp Ceviche, which was better than the sushi tacos, but not by much. The only thing I could taste was avocado and lime and it wasn't pleasant. The only reason I would come back is if I was forced to by a close friend for a celebration. Went here for a Father's Day lunch. Located in the UTC mall in University City/La Jolla. It's kind of a Hawaiian fusion restaurant that serves unique dishes inspired from the Islands. Also shared the firecracker salmon rolls. Overall, the taste was ok. Felt like it needed more flavor to it and the rice was a little dry but still good. Then shared the main entree which was the Korean bbq steak dish. Meat was tender and flavorful but wish it had more meat. The kimchi fried rice was good and wasn't too spicy. It seems like my fiancé's favorite part of the dish were the brussels. It had a perfect taste and was crispy. The egg to me was just an add on. Maybe could have gone without it and added more meat instead. The service was great and they checked on us often. The ambiance is nice and the interior decorations are pleasant. We sat outside in the patio so it was a nice scenery even though u get a lot of people walking by since it is the mall looking at u and what you're eating. Sashimi bowl: This is a new menu item and for the price of $27 you can get sashimi slices (3 ea) of kanpachi yellowtail, salmon and sesame-seared ahi with rice and vegetables. The fish was fresh and totally worth the price for what you get Coconut shrimp: Crispy and coconutty. It was a good starter. The drink I got was the Spicy pacific which was recommended by Jillian. I substituted the alcohol for tequila and it was a great choice! Tastes just like a pornstar martini, which is one of my fav drinks. Highly recommend this drink! This restaurant at the utc mall is so awesome! It is clean and beautiful inside. They offer a nice varied menu from poke, to sushi, rolls, bowls, fish entree plates, various sides. We ordered 1) poke sampler which came with three poke choices, wonton chips, tortilla chips, a wasabi garlic creamy aioli, and fresh romaine, cucumber, radish. The poke was very fresh and seasoned well and paired well with all the accoutrements. 2) rainbow roll- they use real crab instead of the imitation crab. Came in for a quick dinner earlier this week. Very busy and lively atmosphere. I ordered the coconut shrimp to start which was very delicious and crunchy. I also got the chicken tinga tacos with corn. The tacos were very tasty, although I wish they had a spicier salsa. They only had pico and tapatio. The side of corn was okay, it was really watery. Despite the food being great, the service we received was absolutely terrible. Our server came by twice throughout our entire visit to check in on us. First time was to ask for our order, second time was to bring out our dishes. He didn't even bother to give us the tab, another server did that for him. One of our plates was supposed to come with avocado and it didn't. We received our appetizer but had no utensils or napkins. Server was no where to be found. Had to go to the host stand and ask for some and all she did was put on a frustrated facial expression and shook her head no and despite doing all that, we still waited about 5 mins to receive them. One of the servers came up to us after I had asked the host for utensils and put his hands on his waist and goes "okay, what do you need?" and after I said utensils, he goes "ha okay"... not sure if he intentionally meant to come off as a smart a** but okay. Was there yesterday after a funeral. The food was very good however quite disappointed with the service. The waitress was very pushy and clearly wanted us out as soon as possible even though the restaurant was empty at that time of the day. When we asked for coffee it was cold and she said it was made in the morning. It was 3pm when we were there !!! She just took the cup and reheated in . It was not fresh coffee ! It's been a long time since I've eaten anything at UTC mall. My friend took me to lunch at Pacific Catch for my bird at. It was a nice lunch and I enjoyed the location. There was plenty of parking and we went on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated right away however..... service overall was extremely slow. It was not busy at all plenty of seats. I forgot our servers name but she seemed to be a little "checked out" took forever to ask if we wanted refills, then when she asked if we wanted a printed receipt, she forgot about it.
