Picked up dinner from William BBQ. Three items and one side. I have been eyeing this place for a while. Today just felt like the day. It was light refreshing and fulfilling. There was crunch, the chicken was not heavy or greasy. The mac salad/slaw was a good note to my fried shrimp. I live kinda far, still had a crunch when I got home. Staff were welcoming the vibe is homie. You can stop for a quick bite, there is not much space but definitely worth the bite, so a grab and go never hurt nobody. Today was hot and this meal was a good bite.

A small business and small restaurant with limited seating so expect that when heading there. That said, owner is very pleasant and the food is splendid. 5/5 for both dishes we had!

This place is still as good! The portions are huge and food is so damn good! I always get half bbq chicken and half chicken katsu! Definitely a must try

There's not a lot of seating but for takeout, William BBQ is great. I ordered 2 plates to go, and both were delicious and each plate had enough leftovers for another meal! To order, I phoned it in (friendly service) and picked up the order. Food ordered: 1. Hawaiian BBQ Chicken Plate The chicken was juicy was the BBQ sauce tasted similar to a teriyaki sauce, so sweet and tangy. Plates come with 2 scoops of rice, 1 scoop macaroni salad, and a couple broccoli heads. Delicious! 2. Chicken Katsu Plate This fried chicken katsu was also delicious. Katsu coating is not overdone and the chicken is cooked well. Same idea that the plate comes with 2 scoops of rice, 1 scoop of macaroni, and a couple broccoli heads. It may not look like much from the photos, but these are large plates. With 2 plates, it was enough for two of us to have an entire meal the next day. I would order again for takeout when I'm feeling a Hawaiian BBQ plate.

The william chicken katsu was great. Big portions for two meals. The katsu was crispy and the chicken was good. Some pieces maybe were a bit more on the dry side. Overall though it was good with some sauce. I also enjoyed the macaroni salad which featured some cabbage shreds in there. It was refreshing to have with the soft fluffy rice and crunchy chicken katsu. Good little spot for food.

They have nice big tables for you to dine in. This is a very small place but the prices and the food is cooked fresh. The portions are big so I can get a second meal out of it for tomorrow. I will definitely show up here often.

Hidden gem for sure. This has to be one of the best Hawaiin BBq places I've ever had. Right in San Carlos off of El Camino. There's only street parking and the place is small so it can get busy quick, but luckily we came when it wasn't busy on a Saturday afternoon. Very friendly people with a nice homey feel to the place. Now to the best part which is the food. You get large portions of food which is great and the price is affordable. Katsu chicken is cooked perfectly and very crispy. The short ribs were good, but were drenched in too much sauce. The wagyu beef was really good and their mac salad is different, but good. Will definitely be back to try other things on the menu.

It's a hard thing to give up your favorite spot but you definitely want to see the business thrive..well this is one of them! The owner is a very nice guy. Will greet you and give you tips on what to order. I suggest the beef and grilled shrimp. Even the broccoli is amazing! The Mac salad is a little different with coleslaw mixed in but it works.. the portions are good size and this place is really a diamond in the rough! If you're a fan of Hawaiian Bbq then this is your spot!

This place is one of the best Hawaiian spots in the bay HANDS DOWN I weighed the takeout portion and it came out to just under 5lbs of food 5 LBS OF FOOD FOR $20?!?! SAY LESS Everything was savory, properly seasoned and had endless flavor, already been here a few times and I look forward to coming back every time, insanely underrated 5 STARS

The food is delicious, the ambience is very Mom & Pop family run, and the portions are HUGE! I love coming here. I usually get the grilled chicken, wagyu combination plate.

Ordered takeout, called in advance and was able to pick up within 15 minutes. We requested no rice, all mac salad, and they kindly obliged. Unfortunately, I ended up not being a huge fan of the mac salad, it was more like a watery coleslaw with macaroni in it rather than a traditional mac salad. We got a chicken katsu and wagyu plate, and there was quite a bit of food, the box was hefty. I found the wagyu to be a bit chewy, but the chicken katsu was crispy and moist. Overall, I found it pricey for what it was (about $23 after tax), and there was other preferred Hawaiian food places in the Peninsula, but perhaps I will give it another try with other menu items.

Stumbled upon this spot because my girlfriend and I were looking for a quick take out place. We found parking really close and ordered through a tablet. We got our food in 15 minutes! We got the spam musabis, chicken katsu and bbq chicken plate and the short rib chicken bbq plate. The portions are huge and the service was really nice. They also gave us a stamp card so after ten orders you get one for free! Definitely will be coming back.

I think there were communication issues. there was some mix up with the tables and throughout the night after that our orders kept getting mixed up with not just one but two other tables. So we would see our food from afar being held in front of a group of servers where they would have a conversation over our plates of food for a few minutes then go to other tables, and try to give it to other tables before it finally got to us. The staff explained there was a mixup and due to that all the orders continued getting mixed up during our meal, but there was no acknowledgment otherwise or an attempt to make things right. I think because the group tip is already mandatory, there was no incentive on their end, perhaps. The bus staff are pretty available and responsive but limited in what they were allowed to assist with and the server was hard to flag down. Anyway onto the food. The clams linguine was flavorful. The crab Alfredo pasta had a lot of crab which was a pleasant surprise but a little lacking in flavor and a little on the sweet side with cream and crab notes. Cioppino was better than expected. Oysters were good and an okay price. Key lime pie was decent. I think 3.5-4 stars for the food (probably 4 at the happy hour rates!), 2 for service. Ambiance is a bit weird. Like somewhat upscale with some decor and high ceilings but not in others. Worthwhile to return for happy hour and may update review then!

Eating ice cream or your dessert while smelling bleaching and light were almost turned off is not pleasant at all and it ruined the dessert moment for me. Chips are not complimentary, so we ordered Chips and Guacamole ($11) to start, and my goodness, it's been a while since I've had really amazing guacamole. It's fresh, it's chunky, it's a nice balance of other toppings - I was in love with it. We ended up ordering more chips (this time Chips & Salsa ($4)), because we had plenty of guacamole left over. The salsa was a nice roasted salsa, rich in flavor but not too spicy. The chips tasted homemade as well, as they weren't overly salted but had a nice crunch to them. They had plenty of homemade Aqua Frescas available, so I got the Strawberry Horchata one. I didn't realize they default to large ($7) from the start, as they also have small & medium. A little surprised by that, but the horchata was so good that I ended up being happy they gave me a large. We shared the Molcajete D. Carne ($40), which came with sides of rice, beans, and tortillas. The molcajete was huge - definitely plenty to share with at least 2 people! The meats were plenty flavorful and not overcooked, so they weren't chewy. It felt very authentic overall, and we were very content. Would definitely come back!

It's been a minute since I've been to LV Mar but the food is still tasty, albeit a bit pricey. They are kind of the upscale sister to La Viga afterall. We started the meal with the birria fries which were pretty good. I liked the huge chunks of beef which were really nice and tender but I would have liked to see more inclusion of birria into the dish instead of just the meat, like maybe some of the consommé on the side to dip or maybe tossing some cilantro, onions with the cheese or giving it that fresh squeeze of lime. As is, it's fries with some melted cheese and the chunks of birria. Good, but not a standout to me. My personal favorite came with my tacos. I really liked the scallop taco which came on a jicama "tortilla". It was sweet but crisp and worked well with the fried scallop which was also done well and not over fried. I also really liked the huitlacoche which is a bit of a rare find. It's like corn and mushrooms had a baby. It was really tasty. Both of these completely outdid the pork belly taco which was honestly very good in its own right too. The only downside is that the price is about $8 PER TACO which is a lot so while I applaude the creativity for some, that's tough to choose regularly. Overall, food was good and the vibe was fun. It's a good option on Broadway in Redwood City (but yes, I also think you should choose La Viga first).
