Menu 4 - Combo Meal Options
    Mike L.

Before stepping out of Whole Foods and seeing Poke House across the parking lot, I had never even heard of this place, let alone knew it was a chain. However, between my curiosity and the fact that it's been a while since I last got a poke bowl, it seemed like the perfect time to check this place out! Not to mention the fact I was tired, hungry, and too lazy to figure out where else I might want to eat...ha! Stepping inside, the first thing that struck me about this place was just how bright and big it is. Compared to the other poke joints I've been to, it definitely ranks among the largest. Similarly, their menu has a bit more to offer as well, including pre-set poke bowls, cooked bowls, and hand rolls, but, curiously, their poke bowl options don't include certain items I'm used to seeing elsewhere, like hamachi, tamago, and garlic crisps. At the same time, they also have a couple of marinated fish options, which is awesome since that's not something you typically see offered elsewhere. For my order, I opted to get a LARGE POKE BOWL (4 scoops - $20.20) with White Rice, Spring Mixed Greens, Spicy Miso Salmon, Garlic Oyster Tuna, Krab Salad, Hijiki Seaweed, Masago, Sweet Onion, Cucumber, Jalapeno, Crispy Onion, Furikake, Shredded Nori, Pickled Ginger, and Seaweed Salad (+$2) with their House Shoyu and Sesame Oil. Now, while it may not have looked like it initially, this was actually a hefty amount of food! Most importantly, though, everything tasted pretty good. The fish were fresh and flavorful (yet not salty), there was a good amount of both types, the rice wasn't overcooked, and the mix of toppings in this complemented each other well. Despite how I enjoyed my bowl overall, I will say that it was hard for me to taste the individual flavors of both fish once everything was mixed together, especially with the shoyu and sesame oil. Which, in turn, is probably the reason why marinated fish isn't common, but I still didn't mind, since it added additional flavors I wouldn't have had otherwise. Also, it would have been nice if hamachi had been included as an option, but that's more of a "nice to have" than an actual need. In any case, while Poke House doesn't quite match my favorite poke joint out there, it's definitely one of the better ones. At the very least, it's a great option in a complex that otherwise doesn't have a ton of options other than a Wholes Foods and Super Duper. Just one note - if you are thinking of adding one of their wasabi packets to your bowl, try just a dab first! Even for a wasabi lover like me, the little packets go a real long way!

First te trying this place. Overall enjoyed the poke experience since they have different options. I like the cleanliness & ambiance inside the restaurant. The fish was fresh & their sauces were flavorful!

I ordered delivery from here almost every night of my trip, because it was just that delicious! My bowls were full of fresh, delicious ingredients and generous portions of toppings. I got the salmon, tuna, and shrimp proteins and they were all great. I also tried the miso soup once and it was warm, flavorful, and packed carefully with the container wrapped with Saran Wrap. Their service was also very efficient. They packed my orders quickly and correctly every time. I will definitely be ordering from here again when I am back in the area!

Giving a 5 star because 4 is not enough. But solid 4.5. Quick, healthy, lots of choices. If you're looking for a quick stop, healthy lunch, and you love pokey, you'll like pokey house in San Mateo. Solid portions. Great available add-ons. Not necessary place you want to sit and eat as it's more quick stop spot, but it was perfect for me as I needed a late lunch and wanted a Poké bowl. The To-go packaging was solid. Portions were large. Enjoy!

Poke House is the best chain for poke, hands down. They always nail my order, and I don't see a large discrepancy in portions when I Doordash versus when I go in store and order. There is a lot of indoor seating and they keep the interior incredibly clean. I honestly have more points there than I can count on both hands, it's the perfect spot for a go-to healthy meal if you're not sure what you're craving for lunch or dinner! Workers are very friendly and get out orders very quick as well. Great establishment overall!

Ahi tuna poke with their spicy sauce

I've been to Poke House many times at different locations and what I like about them is they're consistent and their portions are generous. The only thing I'd change is the way they cut the fish. The pieces are pretty big and I personally prefer smaller cuts. I like that they offer zucchini noodles as a base. I usually do half zucchini noodles and half mixed greens. My go-to proteins are ahi tuna and spicy tuna. For sauce, I always go with their house chili. It's their spiciest option and it definitely brings the heat, which I love. I also have them drizzle sriracha aioli on top to finish it off. Another small touch I appreciate is they have a water station where you can help yourself to complimentary water, which is nice especially if you go heavy on the spice like I do. This location is in a nice plaza and the space itself is clean. Parking can be a little tricky since the lot is shared with Whole Foods, Crunch, other restaurants, and a big apartment community. Overall, solid poke spot with good portions.

Small build your own bowl with two scoops of protein, charged $16.49 plus tax though posted price is $15.70 (1/6/26)

I went to Poke House for lunch during the first week of 2026. Luckily there was no line and I was able to order right away. I've been to this location many times and I enjoy their zucchini noodles since not many poke spots offer them as a base for their bowls. Their protein offerings are okay and I like being able to add all the various toppings and sauces. Of note, Poke House charges extra for seaweed salad and avocado, though some other poke restaurants include these in the base charge. I created a small build your own bowl with the protein and topping selections of my choice. Everything was going well until I was about to complete my transaction. After I tapped my credit card, I asked the staff at the register why I was being charged $18.08 for my small bowl when the posted menu price was $15.70 (plus tax). I was told the prices "were recently increased" though there were no signs or postings indicating this; some businesses at least put handwritten prices to cover the old prices but Poke House didn't even do that. Looking at my receipt, the price of a small build your own bowl is now $16.49 plus tax while the posted price is $15.70 plus tax. Although the price increase is not too dramatic, the principle of being transparent with pricing clearly was not a priority; it would've been nice if this price increase was communicated to me in some way before reaching the register or even before building my bowl. This makes me question Poke House's business practices since they are charging more than the posted prices. Aside from being charged more than the posted price, the quality of the bowl seemed to be lacking compared to past visits over the years. The fish did not taste fresh and the sauces were very watery; while consuming my bowl I noticed the bottom of the bowl looked like a bowl of soup. I get that zucchini noodles do not absorb sauce as well as rice, but the amount of "sauce soup" was concerning. I do not think a small bowl with only two scoops of mediocre protein is worth $16.49. At least the restaurant has a decent amount of clean seating inside to eat your poke bowl freshly made. Since Poke House seems to be okay with charging more than its posted prices without giving its customers a courtesy warning or notice, this left a bitter taste in my mouth and I'll consider other food options before deciding to eat at Poke House.

Anytime I'm in the area I stop by Poke House. I always build my own bowl, Ahi Tuna, and Garlic oyster Tuna for protein, topped with edamame, green onion, tomatoes, Masago and cucumbers. I get the Ponzu sauce, topped with crispy onion. Everythinig tasted fresh and was delicious as always. Definitely would recommend giving them a try if your in the mood for a good Poke bowl.

Wow. The simplest of orders and they still got it wrong. No one in there. No one waiting. No one walking in as I wait for my order. They forgot the crab salad? Come on! This is the simplest order of all time. So disappointing. I hate leaving bad reviews but this was pathetic. 6 months later and I'm still annoyed. So I'm writing the review. Yes, they heard about it the next time I took my kid to Chipotle. No I didn't place another order at Poke House. The tuna quality and the octopus quality was acceptable - not sit down restaurant quality but quick to go meal yes - if they put everything in the darn bowl. Never. Again.

Food arrived with bag open and sauce all over two entrees - a mess. One entree was wrapped in plastic wrap, the other had a lid. Called Poke House and the woman immediately said this is the delivery company's issue. I pressured her for the manager; she said they were out of the office. I pushed back and gave her my name and phone number. No call back from Poke House. She needs to understand that blaming your delivery partner without the facts reflects badly on her, the manager and Poke House. Fortunately, the delivery company provided support and empathy. The delivery company called me back to apologize. I am not sure where the delivery was compromised. In addition to the delivery issue, food quality for chicken entree bowl was poor, tasteless and chewy, like left out too long. We used to enjoy Poke House food. Sad to experience bad customer service from Poke House.

This review is long overdue, but I highly recommend Poke House and specifically this location! My fiancé has a gluten allergy and they definitely take that seriously here! The staff was knowledgeable and wonderful! It's clean inside and the vibes are good! Also, they are super conscious of other allergens as well. I ordered a medium poke bowl with tofu as my protein. I got corn, edamame, cucumber and pickled ginger to name a few toppings. The sauces I chose were the sriracha aioli and ponzu. The flavor combo was bomb and I'd get it again. Just a warning that the sriracha aioli is actually pretty spicy!!! We love this spot and will definitely be coming back!

Solid spot for poke if you're in San Mateo! I only ever ordered the spicy salmon poke bowl here and it was delicious. The chunks of salmon that they give you is pretty generous. The size of it is pretty big and you can easily tell that it's a fresh cut from the fish too. They mix it with veggies such as cucumbers, onions, and edamame, sprinkled with some furikake on top too. The sauce isn't overwhelming either which I appreciated. Nothing much else to add other than that this was a great choice to come to! I will definitely order from here again. It seems pretty pricey but it's pretty good for your penny here.

I was craving something on the healthier side and saw on Yelp that there was a Mendocino Farms a mile from where I was. I drove over there, spotted Poke House, and reconsidered. I like Mendocino Farms, but I thought to myself, "Why not try something new?" I've only eaten poke a few times in my life, and it seemed like as good a time as any to add to that number. Now, I'm sure there was a fair amount of sodium in my bowl, but it was definitely low carb compared to most take out choices I would have made. I'm giving four stars for the food and five for the service. Malia, the employee who took my order, was extremely patient while I asked questions about a number of the items on display. I ordered the large Build Your Own, which comes with four scoops of protein. If memory serves, I went with the spicy miso salmon, spicy tuna, garlic oyster tuna, and tofu. I chose the base of zucchini noodles, the free scoop of crab salad, got most of the free veggies and paid extra for the seaweed salad. It was such a huge portion - the bowl was overflowing! My order lasted multiple meals. I went to say thank-you again and good-bye before heading out, and Malia gave me a couple of extra sauce containers to go. I tipped Malia a couple dollars and I wish I had left more!

Our server, Stefania (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly!), was absolutely wonderful. She was warm, funny, attentive, and made our evening even more enjoyable. My most recent visit for lunch on a Saturday was very busy! The line was out the door but they move fast and the food comes out even quicker. There are plenty of outdoor and indoor tables where you sit wherever you. There is self service water with and without lemon throughout the location. Pros: Quick and friendly service Tasty lobster rolls, lobster chowder, and crab sandwiches Con: Parking is VERY limited. They have a small lot in the back and you can park against their fence but over the weekend it's almost impossible. There is street parking but also a little hard if you want to park directly nearby. I parked about 1.5 blocks away on the next street parallel to the restaurant. The naked lobster roll is one of my favorites because you can really taste the meatiness of the lobster. You can tell it is fresh in every way with the buttery brioche bread. The tray comes loaded with chips and a side of Cole slaw. If you come with friends, I recommend getting a bowl of the lobster soup to share. Dipping the chips into the soup is chef's kiss! If you are a smaller party, you can always get the 1/2 lobster roll and cup of soup. But the better deal is to get the soup to share on the side since the lobster roll is $39 vs the 1/2 lobster roll and cup of soup is $37. If choosing between the which lobster roll to get, I opt for the naked roll because of the freshness and it is not as heavy. The dressed lobster roll has a good amount of flavor and pairs well with the bread, it's a little heavier because of the mayo and butter brioche bread. They don't use a ton of mayo in it so it's not as bad as you may think. I've had the twin tails in the past and I can definitely say it was very easy to get the lobster out. Sometimes some places make it more difficult and people don't want to really dig in with their hands. Safe to say it was very easy to eat. Over the years, I've seen the price go up with inflation unfortunately. So I definitely still come but as a little treat to myself or if I were to come celebrate a special occasion.

We saw to people there and they greeted us when we came in. Seemed like it was a mom and daughter. They were very nice. They sat us down and gave us the menu and how the ayce works. I am not sure how to rate the food. The selection of seafood that you can pick was nice. Clams, mussels, shrimp and crawfish were the seafood picks you can do. Potatoes, sausage, corn were the free add on that you can do. I do not eat crawfish, which was also a seafood pick, so I can't review that. Everything was good. The shrimp was hit and miss, depending on the piece. They were peel and eat, but some shrimps were mushy meaning those shrimps were old. It was tolerable. Nothing that I haven't had before. I'll let it go for the price point they offer. The clam and mussels were good. As expected. The sausage, corn and potatoes were good as well. The place was pretty legit. The fried shrimp and fried chicken wings were amazing! Freshly fried, they were juicy and steaming on the inside, and crispy on the outside. Although the place was dead (it was a Wednesday after all), we did see a lot of people come in and pick up food to-go. Not sure if they were customers or drivers picking up for Doordash/Uber Eats. All in all, I would definitely come back to this place.

The modern touch on Greek food was phenomenal as well as the hospitality! The Pikilia, Moussaka & Whole Fish were tasteful and plentiful. Best of all, the Greek Yogurt Cheesecake was extraordinary! Being greeted by one of the owners, Burhan was a delight. He had such a warm smile that added the extra touches to thoughtfulness & care of the dining experience. I extend my thanks to him & the attentive staff that made the evening feel truly special. It is easy to see how much love and hard work you & the owners pour into the restaurant. - Just beautiful & colorful! We're already looking forward to our next visit.
