11/5/23 I've always passed by Pacific Catch when I'm in downtown San Mateo area. My fiancée is a huge fan of this chain and he convinced me to get lunch with him. We were seated outside since it was nice weather at the time. Here's what we got: - Crispy Alaska cod fish and chips (his) - Crispy cod tacos (mine) We waited about 10 minutes until our meals came. Our waitress also brought out clean towels for us that she set to the side. Throughout our meal, she was attentive and checked on us from time to time. The cod pieces are generous sizes. I like that the beans were set to the side and there's even a small side salad that came with my tacos. The cod was fried perfectly and not dry inside. The fries that came with Zach's fish and chips had some sort of cajun seasoning on it which was really good. Looking forward to my next visit. read more

We got the happy hour sample platter (poke dip, ribs. Coconut shrimp, fish) all very good. Then we got the surf and turf. Steak medium rare cooked to perfection. Pacific Catch is always such a great experience. I'm a regular, and honestly, I never get tired of going. This time, I had the macadamia-crusted sea bass with asparagus -- absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the black cod entrée, which came with string beans, and it was just as amazing. We finished with the chocolate molten lava cake -- my favorite dessert, hands down. It was superb, rich, and perfectly gooey. Our waiter, Eduardo, was super friendly and went out of his way to make sure we had a great time. He even brought us fresh mint for the dessert and made me the perfect less-sweet nohito. I asked for less sugar, and he nailed it. The service was great. Nice restaurant. It was my first time at Pacific Catch and the menu had a good variety to choose from. I love seafood so I would be happy with anything here. I ordered re d the movie goer special for $25 with the 3 taco combo (I got fried cod for all 3 but I guess you can mix it up if ya like) & a cocktail (mai Thai for moi) We ordered a California roll to share and a teriyaki bowl for the kiddo. The small was still a large portion, so keep that in mind when you're assessing how much food to order. It was good but I don't see myself going out of my way to try it again. But now I can say I did it. The best thing here, the people were great. From the hostess, to the server and other servers who checked in on me if I needed anything while I waited for my kiddo to use the restroom before we left. Completely attentive. Great food and great hospitality. I placed an order for pickup and they messed up my order (food was still delicious). Called them the next day and they offered to comp an entree on my next visit. I came in two weeks later and they followed through with their word and the food smacked again. Definitely a great spot to try if you're in the area! Is one my favorite place from now on, I realy like their earning point system that offer you some great rewards as free dishes for permanent customers. The service is great the food is delicious they don't serve coffee for now hopefully soon they can make it work . Great place for a party! We were able to have the back room for my dad's birthday dinner and it was great! We were able to decorate the room, which had several heaters that kept us toasty, and Andrea provided great service for our family's night. The bathrooms were really nice with a few stalls and sinks outside of the bathroom if you just need to wash off your hands. The downtown San Mateo area means you can walk around after, maybe grab dessert, and parking is super available in any of the streets or in the garages. We ordered a guaca-poke, calamari, and coconut shrimp appetizer for each of our tables and they were all made fresh and set up our meals! I had one of their sushi bowls, which was overall good-- the fish was super fresh but the soy-wasabi wasn't my favorite flavor. My dad got a Sea bass and was able to add a skirt steak which he loved. Everyone had a great time and we were able to play a game we planned as well as have a cake brought out that we passed on to the servers earlier in the day. read more

To sum up my visit, I ordered takeout for my family. The food was good but I very disappointed by the difficulties they had processing my order. Everything we ordered was pretty good but I'd skip on the sushi next time. The salmon fresh catch and Mexican grill chili lime shrimp were good and kept well as leftovers for the next day. Here's the reason for my low review: It took about 15 minutes to put in my order. The picture menus aren't up to date and the workers aren't all aware. After a few minutes of the worker struggling to add the item I wanted, they called someone over who tried then informed us it wasn't an available item. The worker also had trouble finding the items on the computer and couldn't figure out how to open the register to cash out. Another worker came and explained why the issue happened and then fixed it. I paid in cash and the other worker gave me the wrong change. The food took about 20 minutes to come out after ordering. read more

Overall 3.75 Stars - Staying in San Francisco for a couple of days and had a hankering for some seafood. Checked on Yelp and discovered this place. A few other paces had higher Star ratings but the menu had a variety inspired ingredients and flavors of Asian, West / East coast with a hint of Hawaiian mixed. 4.5 Stars for Ambiance: Located on B street in downtown San Mateo, the place is part of other establishments for people who want to walk the streets, shop or eat. It can accommodate large groups and has some outdoor seating. Open and airy w a 20 seat bar. The place wasn't busy on a 2:30 Friday afternoon which is fine w me. 4 Stars for Service: was seated immediately and had two servers who worked w me on recommendations and service 2.5 - 4 Stars: So the food had different ratings cuz I ordered a Sampler and a sandwich meal. 3.75 Stars - 16 oz Sapparo Beer. It was cold, light and refreshing 3 - 4 Stars: Pupu Platter Sampler The star ratings reflect on the different items: 3.75 Stars - Coconut Shrimp. Medium size shrimp coated w a Coconut breading. Lightly fried, tender, and juicy. It came w a sweet Thai chili sauce which was 2 Stars- too sweet. 2.75 Stars - Spicy Cucumber banchon. It needed more acid (vinegar or citrus) and it was not spicy at all. 3.5 Stars - Sticky Ribs - two ribs coated with an Asian inspired "sticky" sauce - Asian 5 spice is the main seasoning 3.5 Stars - Guac-Poke (Tuna) w tortilla chips. The tuna and guacamole dish was light and fresh. Needed more lime or lemon for acidity. 4 Stars - Spicy Salmon Sushi Tacos - Asian/Mex came together and this dish was awesome. Salmon w sushi rice and held by a seaweed wrap to mimic a "street taco". It had a spicy mayo and the ingredients were fresh and satisfying. I should have ordered a platter of this dish. Highly recommend! 3.8 Stars - East Coast Lobster Roll w fries and a sesame slaw. The lobster was juicy, sweet and tender. It was about 4-5oz of the meat. They use Hawaiian bread (about 3 rolls) cut in half to make the bed of the lobster. It was good but has so much more potential. It was served w butter and a sliced of lemon. The buttery bread was toasted perfectly but I was missing the East Coast mayo mixture. 3.75 Stars - Fries - you can choose 3 ways for the fries. Original, sweet potato or chili lime. I selected the chili lime. They were hot and the seasoning was good but needed more of the seasoning. It was served w chipotle aioli sauce that a little bit heat. It made the fries a lot better. 2 Stars - Sesame Slaw - it was a bust! Not good at all. Barely any sesame flavoring and zero acidity. You heard "Where's the beef" right. I added four lemon slices to it. Maybe I missed something.. With that said, I still recommend the place for its ambiance, service and variety of food which I will try again. Enjoy read more

Family dinner night. Me and my brother in law wanted seafood, while the others wanted a variety of options. We all agreed on Pacific Catch. They are always solid. I had the Mexican corn, which is basically elote. It was delicious and had a good spicy kick. The pole 3 ways was also very tasty. They were sauced perfectly with also a bit of spicy heat. Everyone loved the sticky ribs. They were sweet and meaty. They have a full bar and can accommodate large groups. When it's not lent season, it's not hard to get a reservation or walk in and be seated here. They're usually still busy, but service is very nice. We've had the same server several times and they seem to recognize and remember us. Very nice to our young kid and our family, sometimes bringing our elder parents. Food is consistently good. Drinks are also to my FIL's liking (margaritas). The ambiance can be noisy and busy but it's not bad. There are tvs for sports and what not, but it's always just a good spot for a variety of seafood choices. Someone can get fish tacos while another gets sushi or miso soup, and a fish dish with veggies. Overall, this is one of our regular go-to's for dinner every couple of months. I've gotten the fried fish tacos almost every time I go. I think the chef forgot to salt the fried cod because they were completely bland. Definitely the worst fish taco dish I've had there. We also had an issue with the manager and he didn't really care what we had to say. It is what it is but not coming back after coming about 10 times before. read more

Pacific Catch is honestly an above average experience! Highly recommended for a casual social place. All of the seafood I've had here is super fresh tasting, nothing feels like it's been improperly stored. Pretty impressive considering their expansive menu. Their menu covers a bunch of different cuisine types, you have Japanese sushi, Latinx dishes like ceviche, they have asian fusion dishes, and things like a western burger, they can cater to a lot of different taste buds. I went with a big group and got to try a few dishes, what really stood out was the Gucca-Poke appetizer (it's a must) & Double Rainbow sushi (very nice presentation) The food comes out in a timely manner and the service is good, really no complaints here. read more

Such a great social spot! I work nearby, so sometimes I'll stop by here with some friends. Special shoutout to the bartenders, Angel and Faris! They're super friendly, and the service is quick. We usually sit at the bar. Watch out for those Mai Tais! They're so strong, but so good, we always come back for these. Angel also has a special drink, which doesn't have a name yet, but it's like a chocolate shake with alcohol if I were to describe it! Came for dinner on a weekend for dinner and my party of 4 was seated pretty much immediately. We ordered and our food came out pretty quickly, probably within 10-15 mins after submitting it to the kitchen. I got the west coast salmon bowl and it was pretty tasty, was definitely a well balanced meal with greens, carbs and protein. I'd order it again. As for my food I ordered the Ahi Chirashi which is essentially is a poke bowl. It comes pre-seasoned with their own sauce. The salmon has a mayo sriracha sauce, tuna had a garlic soy sauce flavor, and the ahi was basically seared with salt and sesame. This is our first time to take our pet dog to a restaurant. Pacific catch is a dog friendly restaurant. The manager was very helpful to answer all my questions prior to our journey to the restaurant. We ordered a very good version of their calamari, a very crispy fish and chips, miso black cod and salmon with brown rice for our pet. All the staffs were very helpful and attentive to our needs. The restaurant have an indoor patio that have heaters for people dining with pet dogs. We had a very wonderful experience taking out our pet dog first time starting from the ambience, the food and all the staff that assisted us. Great job Pacific Catch! read more

I haven't been here since they first opened and before I was a Yelp reviewer. The service and food here are solid. The ambiance is also very modern, nice and inviting. I came on a sunny weekday for lunch and sat inside. The place was not too busy at all and that was fine. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the salmon lovers roll and the pupu platter. Both were very good and just enough for 3 people without being stuffed. If you are really hungry, one more dish would be needed. My only knock on this place would be that the prices are on the higher side for what you get but then again food prices are high everywhere. Earlier today, upon celebrating my goddaughter's college graduation, a group of us....8 adults and 4 children including a teen.....arrived there for a celebratory dinner. First of all....the environment is quite beautiful.....the lighting is gorgeous. I've enjoyed the San Francisco location in the Sunset District.....although this environment is more beautiful.....and the food and service is the same...outstanding. I ordered something I knew I'd like...the teriyaki chicken (I know...it's not seafood)....loved every bite. Had a mai tai drink...outstanding....and the other drinks had by the adults, alcoholic and virgin, were just as good. A couple of the staff seemed a bit too business like, when I needed to find the lavatory to wash my hands (very clean there...and I liked the hand washing station)...but they were courteous....it's our server... HEY MEGAN...that made the evening. My goddaughter's Uncle and I split paying for the meal for everyone...and we spent a long time in joyous conversation. Megan was soooo accommodating, and cheerful...a real sweetheart. I also appreciated the staff who cleared our dishes....they were all very nice. Even the people I observed outside and in...seemed to be having a great time. I already know I like the food....the recipes are, apparently consistent through each restaurant...but her attitude and service added a crescendo to an already beautiful day. Much better and more intimate setting that SF location. We could actually hear our own conversations and no one else. The ambiance is coastal/beachy scene meets Asian-island fusion cuisine. I ordered my usual Hawaiian Teriyaki chicken bowl. Unlike SF they heard my allergies and omit the ingredients I requested to be withheld. We also ordered fish n chips, two piece portion paired with salad as opposed to coleslaw. Added a side order of French fries because who eats fish and chips without the chips. I noticed they had bottle, draft and nonalcoholic beer options and chose Athletic Brewing Co Upside Dawn. Think beer version of a mimosa, perfect citrus flavor mixed with no hangover beer. Parking is available around the corner or walking distance due to the outside parklets along the block.
