I'm always game for a new seafood restaurant, so while in the area I was glad to try Pacific Catch. Right in the heart of the well-trafficked tourist section of Santa Monica. Easy to get to. Street parking available. The restaurant is large, light, open and casual. Decor is simple but clean. Menu is extensive with plenty of light options to mix and match. We started with the salmon chowder. Had not seen that on a menu before and was worried it might be a little fishy, but it was not. Delicious, comforting, warm and just chowdery - I would order this again and highly recommend. We also had the yellowtail ceviche, which was fresh and both dishes were very ample in portion. We tried the trio of sushi tacos and the tempura shrimp roll. The fish was fresh and they were okay versions of themselves, but I would say that in a city with some of the best sushi in the country, I probably wouldn't order the sushi items again. The cooked fish dishes that I saw going by looked great so I would try one of those on my next visit. This apparently is a chain restaurant from up north but it doesn't really feel like one so kudos for that. The service was friendly and just right. Yesterday (1/4/25) around 4 PM, I returned to Pacific Catch for another amazing meal! I was thrilled to discover they offer Happy Hour on weekends from 3 PM to 5 PM, with unbeatable prices and a fantastic selection. Naturally, I had to order my favorite, the Guaca Poke (original ahi poke layered with homemade guacamole, micro cilantro, and house-made tortilla chips), which is about $4 cheaper during Happy Hour. The drink specials were just as impressive--I enjoyed the Mango Daydream Hard Kombucha (a hard booch twice brewed with a tropical blend of mango, pineapple, and orange, perfectly spiced with a touch of cayenne pepper) for about $3 less during Happy Hour. For my main, I stuck with my usual: the Miso Black Cod (broiled miso Alaskan sablefish with furikake rice and sesame green beans). I swapped the green beans for their Thai Brussels (honey-lime glaze with crispy shallots), which I highly recommend. My father tried something new--the Spicy Green Curry Bowl (grilled salmon, eggplant, broccoli, green beans, carrots, marinated cucumber, house-made green curry sauce, crispy shallots, cilantro, served over mixed organic greens and sushi rice). Came here to honor my free birthday bowl after getting an email reminder. I had the West Coast with salmon and my friend had the Mexican Grill with shrimp. I tried her shrimp and it was delicious. The salmon was moist just the way I like it. Our bowls turned out to be platters which made the presentation much better and more impressive! The food was delicious! A great addition to downtown Santa Monica by the Promenade! We came here for their soft opening and were not disappointed. Pacific Catch is located directly across from Hillstone's. They have a spacious indoor seating area and limited outdoor seating in the front that is surrounded by glass. They weren't offering a full menu when we visited but they had all the dishes we were interested in. Serrano ahi poke: 3.5 stars. My husband and mother really liked this dish. I felt like the texture was a bit mushy and the overall flavor profile was dominated by onion Cabo calamari: 4 stars. Portion was very generous. Calamari wasn't too heavily breaded and there were plenty of tentacles (my daughter's favorite). I loved the chipotle aioli. Spicy green curry grilled salmon bowl: 5 stars. They nailed it with this entree. Salmon was perfectly cooked and flaked easily with a fork. The curry was total comfort food. Nice assortment of veggies though nothing fancy. Salad was in good shape with nary a brown or wilted leaf in sight, and they were generous with the sunomono. Chocolate lava cake: 3 stars. The cake was a little too cakey for me with not enough lava. Strawberries were not quite ripe. Doesn't quite compare with Roy's, which is my standard in the world of Hawaiian food and lava cakes. Pineapple right side up cake: 3.5 stars. I preferred this to the lava cake, but honestly, I prefer a pineapple upside down cake. With this preparation, the pineapple didn't get a chance to caramelize and it wasn't all that sweet. Service was slow at times but they were friendly and did their best to be attentive. I'm sure it will get better with time. I'm sure we'll be back again. Pacific Catch has a lot going for it - convenient location, great fish (husband had the kanpachi, daughter had the salmon, mother had the black cod, and everyone loved their order), lots of child-friendly food, and plenty of mocktails to choose from. I'd probably skip the dessert next time and instead get a boba from Odd One Out on the Promenade read more

I was in Santa Monica for a beach day and got hungry stumbled across Pacific Catch and I'm so glad I did! We were seated outside, which was perfect for people watching and soaking up the laid back vibe. We started out with the Shrimp Ceviche, Coconut Shrimp, and Japanese Eggplant with a Hawaiian BBQ Sauce, which were all fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced considering the shareable portions. In addition, I had a Sapporo Light Beer and my wife had a Caramelized Piña Colada, that she really liked. After receiving helpful suggestions from Andrew, one of Pacific Catch's two managers, I ordered the juicy and truly delicious Grilled Fresh Kanpachi from Kona, Hawaii, with a light Hawaiian Red Salt Seasoning. It was served atop Kimchi Fried Rice, along with Crispy Brussels Sprouts. My wife had the Market Fresh Fish of the Day, Grilled Cobia from Panama, with a perfect Citrus Chimichurri Sauce It was served with Grilled Asparagus and Chile Lime Seasoned French Fries. She enjoyed her dish immensely. Both of our plates were quite large and we had leftovers to take home. For dessert, we finished everything off with a Pineapple "Right Side Up" Cake that was perfectly moist and buttery. So-o-o good! I came here for dinner tonight with my husband and my son, and unfortunately, none of us enjoyed our meals. I do not recommend eating here at all. We each ordered something different, hoping to try a variety of dishes, but none of them were good. I ordered the lobster roll with fries. It's pretty hard to mess up a lobster roll, but this one missed the mark. It was very small, the fries were barely a handful, and the coleslaw tasted sour. My husband ordered the salmon with skirt steak, Asian herb chimichurri, fried rice, egg, and broccoli. The dish was unpleasant overall, the rice tasted more like Mexican rice than fried rice. My son ordered the wagyu cheeseburger, which was soggy, overloaded with onions, and completely lacking in flavor. We spent over $100 on this meal, and I left disappointed and frustrated. The only positive part of our experience was the ambience, which was very nice, and our waiter, who provided excellent service. I told him directly that we didn't like the food, but he remained professional and attentive. Overall, the service was great, but the food was not. I do not recommend. Calvin, the awesome manager gave us a great table on the patio and told us we could have all the time I wanted in a private part of the patio! . Then we had to return the appetizer we ordered because we ate our food. In a normal restaurant you come by take a drink order and then ask us if were ordering an appetizer we eat that and drink and then order for our food it suppose to come out in sections not all at once. She was terrific at giving suggestions and knowing the menu. She was always ahead of our drinks and came by to check on us often and was always warm and caring. Our server Gregory was fantastic, so personable, and when a mishap occurred with a similar but wrong dish coming out, he went above and beyond to fix it. We all enjoyed our dishes, but speaking just for myself, the Herb-Garlic Eggplant was tasty, the Japanese BBQ Eggplant was perfect and I LOVED its flavor. Both were great as small side dishes. The Thai Brussels were exactly what we hoped they would be. Finally, our Dulce de Leche Spring Rolls were better than we hoped. The ice cream alone would have been great, but the cheesecake filled spring roll with it really made it memorable. As a vegetarian, I thought Pacific Catch had a solid amount of options for me. Great food, but the service and host experience were disappointing. The food at Pacific Catch was very good--fresh, flavorful, and the highlight of the visit. Unfortunately, almost everything else fell short. When we arrived, the restaurant was about half empty, yet the host insisted we had to sit outside. There were clearly open tables inside, but he told us that if we chose one, service would be slow because of server coverage. It felt odd to be pushed outside when the dining room was visibly not full. Outside seating would have been fine, except it was cold and we had to ask twice before the heat lamps were turned on. Meanwhile, the couple seated next to us was actively complaining about poor service, which didn't exactly inspire confidence. Our own service ended up being adequate--nothing terrible, but not particularly friendly or attentive either. In the end, the food was the one bright spot. But between the unfriendly host, confusing seating decision, and uneven service, the overall experience didn't live up to the quality of the kitchen. read more

It was the first time to what I expect will be many visits to this new restaurant in Santa Monica: really loved it! A week before making dinner reservations, I had walked in to check out the vibe of the place and was suitably impressed. I asked what it had been before as it is a very large piece of property and I was told, "Oh it was that pizza place, 800°." To which I replied I'd never been there even as a longtime local. This is directly across from the Fairmont Miramar Hotel and the Bungalows nightclub and the closest parking is the 2nd Street city parking structure between Wilshire and Arizona. But back to the food. We started off with the fried calamari and although I am not a big fan of fried food in general it was an extremely light coating and absolutely delicious. I would definitely get this again. For dinner I had grilled salmon with the Asian chimichurri sauce and at first did not realize you get to pick two side dishes so I chose the grilled asparagus and the Mexican corn. All of these items were wonderful and the portion was quite adequate to even take some home. The service was also efficient and friendly and we had a lovely and lengthy dinner. I asked for my salad ahead of time, but I guess they dropped the ball and forgot, but that's no big thing so everything came out at once. We will definitely be back. I asked for the music to be turned down a bit because it was pretty irritating and they did it immediately, which was great. I don't see a need for the music in this particular restaurant, but I guess the Owner's feel it is necessary for some reason. I definitely recommend you give it a try if you like fish. By the way, I saw the tacos on somebody else's plate and they were very nice sized. I saw the hours of the happy hour at this restaurant.
