I would not recommend this company to anyone if you're looking for a professional AC company, their tech was 20 minutes late, did not explain his diagnose of the problem, and he was extremely rude. Pacific control services Inc. was sent to my house by the home warranty to inspect my faulty condenser as a second opinion so to speak. I have had two independent AC companies recommend a complete replacement of the entire system due to mechanical failure, Furnace, Evaporator Coil, and condenser. I was quite hesitant to allow this company into my house after reading the reviews online but I felt I wanted to expedite the replacement of my system through the home warranty, this is what I had to do. I also decided to hire another independent HAVC contractor to be at my house to make sure that Pacific Control Services Inc did a complete inspection of the condenser. When I called this company to set up an appointment time I was quoted two times for availability 6 AM or 6 PM. I felt that this was extremely odd and not professional but I decided to go with 6 AM because I did not want to inconvenience my family during dinner time. Their tech arrived 20 minutes late at 6:20am. He did not tell me his name, only that he was here to inspect AC. The tech then spent 10 min looking at furnace. The independent contractor I hired reminded him that the home warranty already agreed to replace the furnace and evaporator coil, that he needed to inspect the condenser on the roof. They both went on the roof, Pacific Control Services spent 7 min looking at condenser on roof. I was told that their tech did not use gauges properly, refrigerant escaped, he did not hook up the low side of refrigerant cycle, did not check temperature difference. Both techs came down from the roof. I asked Pacific Control tech what he found wrong with the condenser, he said your friend seems to know everything, why call me. The sarcasm was not appreciated at 6:35 in the morning. I asked if I needed to sign something, do I get a receipt or any paperwork. The technician then got upset when I brought up the fact that he arrived 20 minutes late and that this was an inconvenience for me. He said I was lucky to even have a technician come at six in the morning I reminded him he did not come at six he came at 6:20. He refused to share his findings of his inspection, or his report. He said, "it's between him and the insurance company" He left at 6:37 upset and ignoring me as I asked for more information. read more

My first technician sent out by the warranty company Rafy was great. He got the system going. Unfortunately it only lasted a couple of days. Next guy was from the company was not as nice. The system had tripped the breaker. He said call an electrician next time. Well, it stopped working again. The electrician found nothing wrong with the breaker but the fuses were blown again. He changed the fuses for me.. Next day air stopped working again. I tried the breaker, nothing. I called the warranty company. They got on the line with Pacific who refused to come back out. I'm sitting in a very hot house with no air because the guy who came out last time refuses to give me the time of day. I would not recommend this company. I'm sure I could just keep replacing fuses every day, but I'm thinking something bigger is wrong with the system. read more

15 years ago Pacific Control Services (PCS) installed a new system for my home through Home Warranty. Because the Warranty only covered a small portion of the total cost, I researched and educated myself to make sure two sets of condensers, furnaces, and coils (total of six components) were installed to perfection. After all, performance and longevity of the system is mostly dependent on the craftsmanship of installation. During permit inspection the City inspector commented on how well executed the installation was. During semi-annual maintenances every single technician also complemented on a job well done. This was 15 years ago. Recently, the Lennox Elite air conditioner at my rental stopped working. The system was installed by a nearby reputable independent dealer/installer 16 years ago, and underwent the same semi-annual maintenance and care as the system installed by PCS at my own home. Two independent contractors came to diagnose without success. PCS came to my rescue again through Home Warranty, diagnosed the underlying issue, educated and presented me with alternatives, followed by recommendation. Given the constraints of Home Warranty, PCS designed the most appropriate system and within a week my rental had a new system consists of condenser, furnace, and coil, operating quietly and efficiently, along with happy tenants. I looked up the components and was satisfied that each had near 5 star reviews. In summary, I did my homework researching contractors and equipments, PCS also did their part providing excellent customer service and quality installation. I have a contractor for life and PCS has a customer for life, but I think I am the winner here. read more

We were introduced to Pacific Control Services through our Home Warranty Company. Last year, our "Nest" Air Conditioning system wasn't functioning properly, after calling our home warranty company, they kept on sending us technicians that couldn't figure out what's wrong, in fact we had over a dozen "technicians" sent by our warranty company, wasting as many days of our times for taking the time off.. Basil from Pacific Control Services, came out and diagnosed the problem with our Air Conditioning system, went right to the manufacturer and got us a "NEW" unit!! After several months of use, the battery in the unit started going bad, we called our home warranty company, they sent out some other technician from a different company, who couldn't figure out how to fix it, and told us to call the manufacturer ourselves. We called up the warranty company once again, and went to the highest level which took many hours and demanded "Basil from Pacific Control Services" and no one else!! Basil came out , and checked our Air Conditioning system, and tested it and figured out that it was a defective unit. He called the manufacturer right away, and got them to send us another NEW unit!! Not only that but he went above and beyond, by personally calling to follow up and see if we received the replacement and offering to install it for us free of charge!! Now we have a brand new air conditioning system thanks to Basil and Pacific Control Services!!! Amazing service! Basel and his team install a new HVAC in my house during my remodel. The contractor I was working with is very picky, so I knew that they would do good work. We can't thank these guys enough. Our AC would only blow out warm air of course as soon as the weather started to become hot here in the valley. We called AHS, our home warranty, to schedule a service. Initially, they referred us to a different company who gave us a 5 hour window for the next day, but they never showed up and wanted to reschedule for the following day with another 5 hour window. We called AHS back and asked them to provide a different company as this was getting ridiculous in almost 100 degree heat. They referred us to Pacific Control Service and right away Rafy assured us that an appointment for the next morning will be made even though we called past their business hours. It took a couple of visits, but Basil came through and arranged the necessary approvals from our home warranty and got everything fixed. Pacific Control installed a window unit in my property that immediately malfunctioned. When asked to return and repair or replace the new unit, Pacific wouldn't come back unless I paid more money. They refuse to stand behind their work and have taken a position of "no responsibility" for the unit claiming it's a manufacturer fault. They won't provide any paperwork that I can use to deal directly with the manufacturer. Their behavior is nothing short of fraud. read more

Avoid this company. Rafy the owner was dishonest with me. He was sent to my property by American Home Shield ("AHS") to repair one of my AC units as I have a home warranty. Right away I knew something was amiss when he started questioning me about my pool! He actually tried to blame my AC problem on something to do with our pool installation. I explained to Rafy that the pool was installed by previous owners more than 10 years ago. When he thought I wasn't watching, he went into one of my AC disconnect panels, broke and removed it. He then tried to pass this off as if this panel, which he broke, removed, and hid in the bushes near my AC units was already missing thus creating a "preexisting condition" with respect to my home warranty. When I confronted him with this falsehood, he then produced the broken plate after he had just lied to me about it. Subsequently he left my property without diagnosing or repairing my AC. He then filed a falsified a report to AHS (as we were informed by AHS) about the incident. He again claimed, ridiculously, that my pool was somehow the reason for my AC unit not working and my AC disconnect being broken. Later, AHS sent another contractor out to repair the damage to my property caused by Rafy. According to AHS, this new contractor filed a report with AHS that overall agreed with my observations above. Based on my experience, this company should be avoided. I have started the process of filing a complaint with California State Contractors' License Board and will file another negative review/complaint with the Better Business Bureau (they have only very negative reviews there and you should know that they are not an "accredited" business at BBB). read more

Given the consistently negative reviews, it hardly seems important that I add mine. $8k plus job to install a heat pump and minimal ducting with 4 registers. The heat pump freezes up on a weekly basis. Every time I spoke with Rafy he finds a new reason why it's my fault that he is completely incompetent. He tells me I didn't request enough registers...because he apparently thinks I hired and HVAC "pro" so that I could give them advice on how to install a system. Super annoying. read more

In some ways, this company deserves 5 stars and in others they deserve 2. However, because we are very satisfied with the end result, I'm settling on 4 stars. We were introduced to Pacific Control Service via our home warranty company when we were having issues with our A/C unit. The woman who answers the phone at the company has a lot to learn about customer service - although this is not a reflection of the good work the company does, it is a real turn off. First we had an issue with our A/C unit heating up and shutting off during some of the hottest days his summer. PCS came out to fix it, order new parts, etc. but essentially kept putting a band aid on the problem. Finally, Rafi came (a VERY knowledgeable professional) and told us WHY the unit kept shutting off, which was simply because it didn't have enough room to breathe. Once we determined the cause and took steps to allow the unit to breathe, we never had a problem. I just wish someone had mentioned this during one of the previous 3-4 visits when they were putting bandaids on the problem, but not treating the cause (which was very simple). They also did a shoddy job with the wiring during one of the "band aid" fixes, that they then had to go in and correct. In my opinion, they have probably lost money and time fixing mistakes and poor judgement calls their own workers have made. However, we were so happy with Rafi's knowledge and professionalism, we hired Pacific Control Service to install a new zoning system in our house to allow for better airflow in the second floor of our home. Even though they arrived 2 hours late (the dispatch woman referenced above did not care or apologize that this had been a huge inconvenience for us as we were waiting for them to arrive), they finished the job in 6 hours and when they left, we had a FABULOUSLY functioning A/C zoning system that finally delivered substantial cool air to the upstairs, without having to purchase a new unit. We are VERY happy with the end result, but the process has definitely been rocky. read more

As it was one of the coldest periods of the year, I again contacted my warranty service to see if there was a contractor who could come out quicker. They contacted Pacific Control Service who could come out the next day. Adam showed up within the scheduled time window. He was friendly and courteous. It was obvious that he knew what he was doing. My 20-year old analog thermostat had reached the end of its useful life and Adam replaced it with a new digital thermostat, which is working perfectly. Contractor was dispatched by American Home Shield (AHS) home warranty service on a complaint that the furnace blower motor was not working. Upon arrival he began making comments that led to a sales pitch for a $6,500 repair and stated that it would not be covered as it was pre-existing. His report to AHS made it sound like the condition was preexisting at the time of the contract start date which led AHS to deny the claim. The furnace was working fine up until the day before the Service Requests was filed with AHS. It is believed that the contractor purposely made those statements as an inducement to get paid for a higher paying repair as in a full furnace replacement versus a motor replacement. Oddly enough, AHS advertising states they cover pre-existing conditions. So the contractor was paid $100 to come out and do a sales pitch. The next day he called and said he would do the job for $5,400. A complaint is pending with the State Contractors Licensing Board for fraud and ethics violations. read more

They were referred to me by my home warranty company (First American Home Warranty) after I had an issue with another company that First American had initially sent out to diagnose a problem with my gas furnace. To say that I was extremely irritated with the initial company is putting it mildly. After a lot of complaining to First American representatives, First American agreed to send out a second company. That's when I was introduced to Rafy and Basil of Pacific Control Service. Rafy and Basil were understanding, professional, and accommodating. They got the job done and they did it well! They were so professional that I actually trusted them enough to give them the key to my house. They let themselves in while I was at work, completed the job, cleaned up, locked up the house, and let me know when they were done so I could remotely set my house alarm after they left the premises. Originally, I had wanted to be home during the removal and installation of my new furnace so that I could clean the hall closet in which the furnace is located before the new furnace was installed. But, our schedules and the weather (pouring rain on and off that week) weren't in line. They promised to clean the closet for me and they didn't disappoint. It has only been about a month since the new furnace was installed and with the weather warming up I haven't had the need to use the furnace much but what little use I have gotten has been fine and, so far, I have no complaints. I would like to note that Basil and Rafy really went above and beyond. They had noticed that I had a certain type of carbon monoxide detector and recommended that I use a different type for optimal performance. They also recommended that I change the location where I had paced the detector. I really appreciated their input and concern. Lastly, and completely unrelated to my furnace, Basil had noticed that my front iron gate was sticking. He offered to fix it for me at no charge. When I got home from work, not only was my new furnace installation complete, not only was the closet and installation area spotless clean, but my front gate was fixed. I'm so happy with their attention to customer service and their professionalism that as the weather continues to warm up, I plan to contact them to inspect my A/C in preparation for the hot summer months. Pacific Control Service is the new service provider for my home warranty company. I couldn't be happier. My a/c has always given me trouble since it was installed 8-9 years ago, and it must be repaired every year. Typically, something went wrong just as the heat was really cranking up. The first warning sign was Sunday, and I made the call to the home warranty company. I got a call from Pacific Control Service Monday morning letting me know someone would be out Tuesday. I was shocked! A one day wait in the middle of summer? Unheard of! The unit did completely stop working later on Monday. The professional and courteous technician arrived Tuesday but had bad news. The technician told me that the wheel of the motor had cracked and broken, and a new one would have to be ordered, which would take 1-3 days. I realized that could easily mean Friday, IF things went smoothly. I got a call the next day saying the part would be in the same day, and they would fix my unit the following day. Now in triple digit heat, I'm sitting in my very cool living room. This compared to two years ago: The old service company came out and replaced a fuse and left. It stopped working before the technician was even out of the complex. I called him back. He replaced the whole fuse assembly. It stopped working after he left. I called him back, and he said he knew what part it needed, and he would pick it up and replace it the next day. Turns out, all stores were out, and it had to be ordered. It was finally repaired 10 days later. All 10 days were between 106-110 degrees. The technician was rude, unresponsive, and generally unprofessional. read more

In the words of Bruno Mars, stop, wait a minute! They were awful! They were a second referral from my home warranty company and they seemed ok at first. They jacked me around on the price of the installation of my new AC system for about a week but then I was about to leave for vacation do I agreed to the price and let them do the job. Boy, was that a mistake! They did the job but didn't finish on the final day I was leaving for vacation so they needed to come back two weeks later once I returned. The technician dropped my $1500.00 check out in the street and they called me frantically for an entire day to track it down. They tried to day I never gave it to him.. That was only the beginning of my problems with them. While I was away, I had a bit of remodeling done inside the house. Upon my return the remodeling was not finished but they made an appt to come back to finish the job so my new AC would work. Mind you this was mid Sept so it was quite hot and my AC was not completed by the time I returned. They claimed they came while I was out one day and the other contractors were still finishing my job. They said they had tested the new AC and it worked fine. I called them for an additional week to say the AC is still not working. They insisted that my construction crew had done something to make the AC not work and that they had been there and the AC worked fine when they left. Finally after a week of arguing they relented and sent a technician. Mind you this was the day that my new walls has been freshly painted white and black, my new silk rug was installed along with my NEW WHITE COUCH AND IMPORTED CHAIR! They also arrived 5 minutes after the maid had just finished cleaning the entire house including all of the huge sliding doors and windows. Their tech arrived and flipped a hidden switch in the closet where the blower was and a huge cloud of dust and debris blew all over my new furniture and room. I was PISSED and called and yelled at the owners for half an hour. They of course tried to turn the situation on me. All I can say is I wish I had never heard the name Pacific Control Service and I wish I had waited to give them my check I found in the street. I can assure you they would have never got it if all that dust had blown in my house before I paid them. read more

My home warranty sent Pacific Control Service over to repair my leaking air conditioning system. The guy they sent (Adam) did an awesome job and had a great attitude. So when I needed to hire someone myself to come in and do maintenance on the system, I called Pacific Control. Well, they couldn't tell me how much the work would be and they couldn't tell me what time they could show up, all they could say was that it would be Friday (i called to schedule on a Tuesday). Then they said they would call me the next day (Wednesday) to tell me the estimated cost (mind you, they had just had their guy out there a few days before doing a repair and he suggested the cleaning and maintenance). Of course I do not hear from them. So I call them back and they say they could give me a time frame and cost on Thursday (for the Friday visit) and that they would call me. Thursday rolls around... no call. So I call them. They repeat the same story "we'll call you tomorrow morning and give you a time." That morning comes (Friday morning, the day they are supposed to come by) and they tell me they can't make it. But they can come by Saturday. I ask for a time Saturday and they say they would have to call me Saturday morning and tell me. Fool me once... read more
