Been attending the diner for over 30 years and recently a good friend and excellent waitress was fired for what reason I don't know. Food has gone down since January and I found out about a new owner. Apparently only cares about $ cause a lot of people are not satisfied with the changes. One of my favorite local breakfast diners, service is always great when you think your going to have to wave someone down to get your coffee refilled check your cup before asking because it might have been filled already!lol seriously there that good always asking if you need more coffee. My girlfriend wanted to take me to a place in San Pedro, I clearly hadn't tried before. It was where her family frequented and I was pleased with the food overall. i went with my chicken fried steak and eggs and was happy with how good it was. It had just the right amount of gravy and barely any sausage. The home fries were in abundance and outstanding and the eggs were cooked to order. After researching on Yelp, our 1st morning in San Pedro we came here. As it turned out, apparently you must be a local to get good food and service. It started off with our waitress being upset (attitude) when we asked to sit in the inside patio area vs the dark inside of actual restaurant. It proceeded with a man, clearly a regular, who was sat at least 10-minutes prior to us but received his beverage and meal so long before us that he was done eating before our meals even arrived. To receiving the bowl of chili (picture attached) with a slap of American cheese on top with the (added per request as menu stated) onions that looked old and dried out. As you can see by the picture just 6 months prior, melted cheddar for those they care about? I think the worse thing was that a group of men sat at a 8 person table, but then were demanded to appoint of a scene, made to sit at a 4 person table. They were clearly not happy and tried to explain the rest of their party was trying to find a parking spot, but this waitress wasn't having it. When their entire party arrived they added a table, which was now in the way, basically to say 'you still aren't getting that big comfy (still empty table with no reserved sign) in the corner. It was a rotten experience all around. And no, I didn't even bother trying the chili. If they can't treat all customers the same then it's not a place I will ever eat or refer people to. I love this place. It's my go to for brunch when I'm in Pedro. Parking sucks though. They have a small parking lot which is usually full. Street parking is a mess!! But the food is worth it. The staff is warm and inviting, from the moment we walk in we're greeted by the host. The menu is pretty big and can be a little overwhelming, but everything is finger looking good. Another long overdue review. I used to live 4 buildings away from the Diner and ate here hundreds of times over the 10 years i lived here. This is by far the best breakfast in town. They have the most delicious selection of omelets, I always got the spinach and mushroom , asparagus and the crab omelets and the pancake sandwich - this is when i had a much larger appetite. friends would eat the john wayne and french toast . You need to be here early , This place is a " throw on baseball hat-roll-out of bed kinda place trust me you'll fit right in cuz if you don't , you'll never find parking and you'll have up to an hour wait at peak breakfast times just about every day, maybe 30 min on weekdays . It's rustic too so don't be expecting fancy brunch.Even at an hour it's WELL WORTH THE WAIT . Never had a wrong order here always friendly service and fast , so don't linger too long on extra coffee there are a lot of people waiting for your table . I would carry out a lot , that's pretty fast 20-30 min usually . Glad to see this and a few more coastal staple restaurants -the best of the SP oldies are still around and made it through the pandemic . Highly recommend Pacific Diner . Since our last visit, they've added nice new tables and chairs, and service is back on track since my previous review (we've been here several times since). My family and I have supported this diner for years, spending a several hundred dollars a year here in spite of the fact that the food is highly average at best. But we like to support small businesses in Pedro and, typically, small businesses like to support customers and help create the awesome community that San Pedro is. However, this diner DOES NOT SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY. My wife and I recently shot a feature film here and had Pacific Diner lined up as a location. I even gave the owner a small gift as a thank you. Then, 2 days before our shoot, he backed out of our deal and wouldn't even tell me FACE to FACE. He had his employees do his dirty work. He wouldn't even accept a phone call to tell me why he changed his mind and DID NOT RETURN THE THANK YOU GIFT I gave him. It wound up costing our film a lot of money to make the last minute change. I don't mind that he back out of the deal, but the cowardice and lack of character displayed in dealing with the matter was off the charts. This owner DOES NOT DESERVE THE SUPPORT OF SAN PEDRO. Bottom line, there are too many great diners like Happy Diner (whose owner Roman is really awesome and sponsors things like Eastview Little League) to continue to support a place like this that does not support its community. read more

A San Pedro staple. I've been coming here about as long as I've been alive. It's about as Pedro as the towns, no hipster, no bougie, just your typical small town diner. Yes maybe the staff is abrasive but they've all been working there for like 30 something years. The food is good, you've got a plethora of omelettes to choose from. I'm going to be honest I don't think I've deviated from my Avocado omelette in like 10 years so that's all I can really comment on. But I mean it really is a great omelette: bacon, avocado, and jack cheese. With a side of crispy potatoes, sourdough bread and I tried some of their Spanish sauce this time. I highly recommend going here, but if you're from out of town, (firstly why are you visiting San Pedro lol...I can say that I grew up there) you gotta remember it is San Pedro after all, you're not brunching at some bougie spot in the beach cities.
