Food is pretty consistently good and the service is good as well. My favorites are the bacon and eggs or the bacon guac omelette.

Time to update my review back up to 4 stars. We've been regular diners here for many years and recently brought some relatives here for breakfast. Since our last visit, they've added nice new tables and chairs, and service is back on track since my previous review (we've been here several times since). My family and I have supported this diner for years, spending a several hundred dollars a year here in spite of the fact that the food is highly average at best. But we like to support small businesses in Pedro and, typically, small businesses like to support customers and help create the awesome community that San Pedro is. However, this diner DOES NOT SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY. My wife and I recently shot a feature film here and had Pacific Diner lined up as a location. I even gave the owner a small gift as a thank you. Then, 2 days before our shoot, he backed out of our deal and wouldn't even tell me FACE to FACE. He had his employees do his dirty work. He wouldn't even accept a phone call to tell me why he changed his mind and DID NOT RETURN THE THANK YOU GIFT I gave him. It wound up costing our film a lot of money to make the last minute change. I don't mind that he back out of the deal, but the cowardice and lack of character displayed in dealing with the matter was off the charts. This owner DOES NOT DESERVE THE SUPPORT OF SAN PEDRO. Bottom line, there are too many great diners like Happy Diner (whose owner Roman is really awesome and sponsors things like Eastview Little League) to continue to support a place like this that does not support its community. read more

A San Pedro staple. I've been coming here about as long as I've been alive. It's about as Pedro as the towns, no hipster, no bougie, just your typical small town diner. Yes maybe the staff is abrasive but they've all been working there for like 30 something years. The food is good, you've got a plethora of omelettes to choose from. I'm going to be honest I don't think I've deviated from my Avocado omelette in like 10 years so that's all I can really comment on. But I mean it really is a great omelette: bacon, avocado, and jack cheese. With a side of crispy potatoes, sourdough bread and I tried some of their Spanish sauce this time. I highly recommend going here, but if you're from out of town, (firstly why are you visiting San Pedro lol...I can say that I grew up there) you gotta remember it is San Pedro after all, you're not brunching at some bougie spot in the beach cities. Top 3 best Eggs Benedict in LA. Maybe my favorite honestly. This place is a hidden gem; I drive from West LA and DTLA for it in traffic. It is really popular in the area and can get busy but the line moves fast and I have never waited long. The potatoes and every side dish are equally as good as the entrée which shows the kitchen really knows what they're doing. Plus everything comes out so fast. The pancakes are also extra fluffy and you get a great amount of toppings or whatever you order in them. Also the biscuits are insanely delicious! Not the flaky type but the pull and peal layered type I would go to this place often if I lived closer but still make it down every now and then. The biscuits in gravy used to be wonderful, now the gravy lacks flavor and they no longer serve quality biscuits. Instead you get some type of cheap Pillsbury layered biscuits that you find at Target for around $2. I think it would be helpful that if you are a server, check to see if any table had gotten their drink order. We were sitting more than 10min a before we could flag someone down for our drinks. I come here a lot with my cousin after we work out at Y. Usually we meet old friends here. A good local hangout I usually order the grilled chicken Caesar salad --the most delicious one I've had in the area. My cuz gets the vegetarian omelette which is quite large with salsa on the side. Their potatoes are addictive. Not a place to on a diet. Portions are large so they are worth the money. Everyone seems happy and satisfied when they're eating. Oh I have to say they are the only place I know that serves the old fashioned roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and the perfect homemade gravy. At what point do people take notice of a restaurant that continues a downward trend in quality of food and upkeep in its operations. The eating utensils are bent and older and than I am (and I am retired) and as poor a quality without being plastic, I actually would have preferred the plastic that's how bad they are. The tables and chairs are relics from days past. The quality of food is not what it used to be years ago, as an example the biscuits and gravy were bland (tasted like they were out of a box and a can) and the Louisiana sausage somewhat turned (bad). It is very obvious the owners are not concerned with quality of food or upkeep of the interior. Investing in better is not the goal if you look around and are honest. They have made one improvement, they have raised their prices but that does not benefit the customer when quality is not part of that process. read more

The drinks took about 10 minutes to come out . We were able to drink all of our drinks and request a refill before the food came which took about 45-50 mins in total (didn't get our refill until food came) Our waitress then forgot to bring our refill so I had to ask the busboy , who then directed us to ask our waitress. Came here for the good reviews, wanted to try a breakfast spot that was deemed as a San Pedro staple. The only good thing I experienced was the service, very nice and attentive, which is why they get 2 stars, but the food was incredibly bland and tasteless. I ordered the chicken fried steak, and I couldn't believe I paid $16 for this meal that didn't even have salt or pepper. It was very disappointing that they put such low effort into a high priced meal. Just put some salt and pepper at the very least. Even the potatoes were bland, and it's a shame because I like how they were cooked with some crispy bits. I can't knock all the food because I haven't tried everything, but if you're serving a $16 dish, at least give your customers something flavorful that makes them feel like it was money well spent.
