Today's meal was spot on. We stuck with pancake meals. Bacon was crispy, as ordered. Poached egg was spot on. Pancakes were hot off the griddle and tasty. Server Fatima was just the right level of attentive and kind. Nothing on the table was sticky with syrup residue and the place appeared clean throughout. The menu is extensive - don't be misled by the name of the restaurant - it's not only pancakes. Coffee, soda, two breakfast meals with tax came to about $39.00 prior to tip, which I consider good value these days. The first thing I noticed when we arrived was that there was no wait to be seated, which was nice. The menu also had plenty of options to choose from, so there was definitely a good variety. My boyfriend ordered the biscuits and gravy, and I decided on the strawberry French toast. The restaurant itself was not very full, and the service was just okay our server checked on us twice during the meal. Once our food arrived, I was really excited to try the French toast, but unfortunately it was a bit cold and not as good as I expected. My boyfriend said his biscuits and gravy were also a little too salty. The biggest surprise for me, though, was the price. For two breakfast meals, one cup of coffee, and a juice, our total came out to around $60. Personally, I felt that was overpriced for the quality of food we received. Got the Senior Gourmet Breakfast ($14.99). Very good breakfast. Good quality ingredients. The hash browns were crispy. The pancakes had a nice griddle cook and texture. Service was very friendly and prompt. The coffee was a nice medium roast. They leave a decanter of coffee on the table for self pour. That decanter really keeps the coffee hot. I've wanted to experience this restaurant via Ubereats delivery for quite sometime but kept ordering from other places that I wanted to review as well. It's time came on 11/23/24 and I decided to order from a research of Yelp.com reviews the "Lumberjack" breakfast item. I did call the restaurant after placing my order to make sure the special instructions section was understood- Gabriella confirmed that fact for me. Lumberjack comes with biscuit and gravy, 2 bacon, 2 sausage links, 2 pieces of ham and 2 pancakes. I also ordered a large OJ as well. Everything was well prepared, good portions and tasty- the pancakes were good but not the standout of this entree. I didnt have the privilege to experience the ambiance of the restaurant due to my delivery but when it was IHOP it was nice and from inside recent photos now it appears brighter and nicer now. Next on the dining list is to order- the Senior Pot Roast and the Ribeye Steak Combo (I prefer my steaks prepared Extra Well Done/Butterflied) so those items will hopefully be ordered individually in the coming months. This place is great! Service was excellent and the space has been updated and is clean and comfortable. Even on Sundays for breakfast around 10:30 it was busy but place is large enough so that we didn't have to wait. Coffee was excellent with the refill carafe of coffee left on the table (I love that). For the lumberjack and it's enough for two. I did share with my wife and just ordered an extra two eggs over easy. Hash browns are perfect and ample, biscuits and gravy super moist and fork tender. Good sausage, bacon and ham. Scrambled eggs seems like 3-4 not two! The pancakes were good but non memorable. OJ not fresh but not bad and not expensive like fresh OJ. Place doesn't have the cool vibe of cache like the crappy over rated omelette parlor but it's got a family friendly vibe. Coffee was brought out quick to the table and the coffee pot was left there so we could refill it at our own pace which I thought was pretty cool. The inside was homey, albeit a little warm. I was excited for the food, it was good and filling but nothing special, similar to Dennys. My wife and I are retired and eat out often. We have a handful of our favorite places to eat, median and higher-end, beach locations and other. We tried Pancakes R Us about a year ago and could not believe how good it was not only for breakfast but for lunch and dinner. This place is spot on clean (sanitary) including the rest rooms, the people are very friendly and excellent servers and finally the food is excellent and prepared to perfection the way you like it! Finally decided to try this place last week. Upon entering, there is plenty of parking and the place was pretty empty for a weekday morning. The staff welcomed us right away and sat us down immediately. We ordered a breakfast skillet, pancakes, simple breakfast plate, and a veggie omelet. Everything was decently tasty, not the best ever but still filling. What surprised me was how mediocre the pancakes are. For the name, i expected way better but it tasted a bit undercooked. Came here today on a Saturday and thought it was a fairly good sign that the parking lot was busy. We were sat immediately, but that's where the prompt service stopped. We waited to have our drink order taken and were ready to order, but the server walked away. From finally ordering our food, it took 40 minutes for it to start hitting the table. I say start, because it came in waves. The lemon butter crepes came first and were incredibly disappointing. They were closer to watered-down pancakes than crepes. On top of that, they weren't flavored. The butter and lemon came on the plate as opposed to being cooked into the dish. The biscuits in the biscuits and gravy order were somehow both burnt and cold. The sausage and hashbrowns didn't even arrive at the table until after I was 3/4 of the way done with the biscuits. The manager on duty checked on some tables, but he never checked in with us. Overall a very disappointing experience. We agreed that we would likely not be returning based on both the service and the food. read more

Have been here a few times over the last few years, but have been going more recently since kids eat free at 4pm(thank you to the waitress for reminding us!), and I have a hungry 15 month old. Service is always solid, and the aesthetic of the place is nice, a very classic diner feel. It's almost always empty or near empty when my wife, son and I go, which is odd, but we don't mind since we'd prefer a quieter place for the kiddo. One star is too damn generous... A few issues to list... First, the young man "servicing" (loosely inserted term) our table was 1). slower than the reincarnation of Christ himself; 2). was wearing "earbuds" throughout our interaction 3). did so during his entire shift; and 4). delivered our drinks at approximately 2/3 full and that may be generous... Keep in mind there were a grand total of three other patrons in there, all three in the same group. (BTW... we could hear them complaining as well). As for the food / drinks, food was so/so at best. My broccoli was half cooked, (give it to me raw with ranch to dip or cook the $hit fully, not half assed like I got it). Mashed potatoes were obviously the instant from a box variety. The shrimp was edible but even then, only bearable. When we asked for drink refills, including milk for the littles, we were told "oh, that's extra"... WTF where and since when? As for coffee, I could have grown AND ground the damn beans quicker than it was delivered... Now... I understand that it's a "new" establishment BUT, management should send managers and experienced employees from one of their other stores (because they have three of them) to train and supervise until the kinks are worked out. The other server ( could even maybe have been the cook?), used the facilities and returned without even washing his hands Top it all off with a $100+ bill for $hitty a$$ food and you've just created an establishment that I will NEVER patronize again... One of my family's favorite breakfast locations! A great family breakfast diner to sit and enjoy time with the family! Tons of breakfast options that are all decently priced, my personal favorite is the egg scrambles which always comes with eggs, pancakes and a great serving of hashbrown! This location also uses the different syrups such as boysenberry, strawberry, blueberry and maple which takes me back to my childhood! Parking is okay, just gets a little cramped when it is busy. I went Pancakes R Us last night with my sisters and a friend. We wanted to give the place a try. One sister ordered a breakfast as did our friend. My other sister ordered soup and a Cobb salad. I ordered a cheese burger with fries. It wasn't that easy deciding because the menu is quite large. To her credit, the waitress (Rachel) was very patient with us. She was attentive and treated us with kindness. We also ordered the potato pancakes appetizer and she brought them promptly. They were tasty. Our food came not long after that and everything was perfect. My burger was juicy and the fries seasoned properly. Everyone else enjoyed their meals. The pancakes looked very fluffy. We will be back and, since I am only in San Pedro at dinner time, I will order a breakfast meal. I was jonesing for a taste of sister's pancakes but she ate them all. First time to this place, I am a huge breakfast fan and always loved to try different breakfast places in Socal. This place is not too far from where I live, but somehow havent tried this before. When I was looking for recommendations in RPV for a good breakfast place, this place stood out as one of the best based on Yelp reviews. It was a weekday morning so plenty of parking was available. Also as I entered the restaurant, I was quickly given a table to sit with the menu card. I went with the Chicken Fajita Omelette with extra onions. The food came out pretty fast and it comes along with Three fluffy pancakes as well. The service is excellent and the coffee that I got was very fresh and tasty too. The omelette was perfect, the chicken was cooked well, the flavor of the food was amazing. The pancakes were soft and fluffy and with the standard set of syrups to choose, I went with the old fashioned syrup and it went so well with the soft pancakes as usual. I'm sorry! I don't want to write this, but I have to be transparent, and to be honest I went back and forth about should I or shouldn't I write this. Now let's be clear it wasn't about the staff, not at all!! They were professional and they explained some of the items just because we needed clarification. You know they have the whole ihop vibe as far as the variety of pancake syrups which I thought "YES!!! We're in the game" the boysenberry, blueberry, regular, and I believe strawberry.. but when I tried them it was a HARD PASS!!! Cheap tasting and in MY OPINION that will ruin a good pancake or waffle, and it did! The French toast on that day was not good at all ( I was really disappointed) they looked amazing and the chicken fried steak was mediocre.. but in there defense a lot of restaurants are ordering the same patty, nothing is homemade now you know the frozen patty with canned gravy, I might be wrong about the gravy but I doubt it! My family and I went on a Sunday, which was crowded... but the syrups, I just can't get past it. if you offer a variety pay the extra money for quality because even if you have the worlds best pancakes and French toast, all of that gets blown up and destroyed once a bad syrup hits it!!
