My wife drove here yesterday. She basically had a 10 a.m. appointment. I followed her in her other car (I showed a lot of restraint- I only yelled at one slow driver, and that was when I was a block away from here). It was "chaotic" when we arrived. A food truck that suddenly came in made the path narrower than normal. I also had to go in reverse for a moment to let a truck get by. (Pacific Lee Auto moved a few doors down about 5 years ago. The old address, as well as the Union City one, can still be found online.) The rear brake pads and rear brake rotors were replaced. The total was $342.09. My wife expected to pay at least $350. Labor: $115/hr. Rear Brake Pads: $75. Rear Brake Rotors: $90 ($45 each). There was also a Parts Tax of $16.09. Mike completed the work in less than 2 hours. As usual, he was professional and thorough. I also like how friendly and cool he is (Mike works hard, but is easygoing). We returned here shortly before 3:30. My wife swore when she was talking to Mike on the phone because of how antsy I was (I slammed on the brakes because a light changed before I could switch lanes and get ahead of two slow drivers). Mike asked what was wrong. Lol. Mike checked out the 2nd car for free. My wife and I were surprised when he indicated that it was ready to pass a smog test (the car is about 20 years old, and it was a nightmare prepping it for a smog test 2 years ago). He also checked the tires (they don't need air yet). I damaged the front bumper about a year ago (hmm- this review makes it sound like I'm a terrible driver). Mike had a puzzled look on his face when he saw that it was loose. After assessing things, he quickly and easily popped it back into place. I was pleased and impressed. A dog from another body shop appeared (my wife never saw it). My son moved away because he thought that the dog wanted his plush penguins. :) My parents have also gone to Mike for many years. My mom even remembers him every December (she usually gives him tamales or Rice Krispies Treats). Once again, my wife received great service at a good price. So I used to go the Lim Express which is right next to Pacific Lee Auto, so I knew of them. Well my car broke down this past Friday (day after Thanksgiving‍) and I had my AAA tow my car to Lim's. Called with no answer, but I noticed the Lim sign was gone. Didn't think about it so I left my car there in front of Pacific's with a note. Sunday evening I checked Google and found that Lims was PERMINENTLY CLOSED!!!! So I called and left a message for Pacific Lee. Monday morning, Mike of Pacific Lee Auto called me and confirmed that my regular mechanic closed down. And of course I asked if he could service my car and he said he would be happy to. My car was completely fixed with new, high quality parts, later that day for a very fair price. Since I wasn't able to pick up my car because I had to be in SF for surgery the next morning, I was able to pay him by Zelle. And he drove my car to my house (I live very close to the shop) and dropped it off so that it didn't have to stay there. GREAT attitude, knowledgeable and kind, honest. I'm a satisfied customer. My buddy took his car to this place because his timing belt broke. Dude told him it needed a valve job. My friend paid about close to $2000 to fix it. Needless to say my friend had to get rid of the car because a few months went by and the car had developed very poor acceleration and running real rough. I don't know what these guys did. We had a car in the shop here based on a recommend by a friend . Oil change, fluid top up, water pump. Got the car back, drove about 30 miles- got home, engine LOUD and HOT- let it cool- checked the radiator- empty- car was returned with no fluids and oil dirty. Had another mechanic fix the mess- had spoken to owner who gave lip service to make it right, but when presented with work order, said "NOT MY PROBLEM". Beware. Cost 1600 to fix his tech's mistake. Anyone can mess up once in a while, but saying "I'm sorry" and fixing the mistake is best. This was not the case with this business, good thing there are other shops. read more

I've been going to Mike for a while now and he just WOW's me every time!!! He was able to replace my "Intake Manifold Gasket" my "Thermostat" my "ByPass Pipes" and flush my coolant within 1 day. I moved to Hayward in October of 2013 with my girlfriend. Our truck had broken down on the drive and we rented a UHaul and brought it to these guys (on a recommendation from our landlord). They revived it for a reasonable price. Since than we have had them fix our 2001 truck over the past year and a half and we've never had a problem. I will always bring my vehicles back here. I brought my new car into the shop recently and Mike helped us out as usual. Always friendly service here. I'm giving them 5 stars because of a) the cost, b) the quality of the service (which is high) and c) for their friendly, and timely repairs. read more

Pacific Lee is a good, reliable and reasonable auto mechanic shop. My car had a misfire on the engine and damaged one of the cylinders. At first I went to other mechanic shop and they recommended to replace the main engine with a used one. I then decided to second opinion from other shops. After getting referral from O'Reily Auto store in Alvarado Nile Rd, I went to visit Pacific Lee and met Mike, the owner. He is a trusted person, very reasonable and transparent in his assessment of my car. He told me the damaged is fixable and no need to replace the engine. After he fixed my car, now the car is like new ... the engine is back to normal. Excellent work Mike with Pacific Lee! Congratulations for your new shop. read more

UPDATE as of 7/25: Originally I thought everything was taken care of. Now because of this shops screwup I'm paying more than a thousand to fix major damage from a loose spark plug that flew out. When these guys did the job on my car they stripped the spark plug, therefore leading to my spark plug to be loose. While driving, my car broke down and it caused major damage to the spark plug, battery, ignition coil, and throttle body. I am livid that they cut corners and left my car in this condition after such a previous good experience. DO NOT take your car here for major jobs. Original Review: I came into Pacific Lee Auto following a recommendation from my dealer. In the past I've dealt with service shops that rushed jobs, overcharged prices, had little to no-knowledge on my automobile, you name it. In turn, I went into this shop skeptically not knowing how well Pacific Lee would perform. I've taken my 2007 Honda Accord (ex-l) two times total so far for repairs and maintenance. The first time I came into the shop I was greeted by Mike, who was friendly and diligent when listening to my observations of what the problem would be. He immediately diagnosed the problem (rip in sprocket) and efficiently ordered a part to come in and replace it. The wait for the part would take about an hour so I decided to stick around instead of coming back later. Mike was humble and was very comfortable to be around. He seemed less of a businessman and more of a person who was down to Earth. He was very passionate about his profession when speaking and it was easy to tell he has extensive knowledge in the field. The after-process was easy and straightforward, price was great, and the experience overall was above satisfactory. Following a couple months later, I took the car to Mike again to follow up on a Valve Adjustment the car needed. I dropped off the car to him and he managed to diagnose the problem, repair it, and did multiple checks to the vehicle to ensure the problem was fixed. Worst decision ever bringing my car here. A friend recommended me to bring my car here cause of his mechanic friend named Mike. When I brought it in, he said my BMW had a transmission problem. He said he had to replace it with a new used one. Took like a week or two, picked it up, paid over $2g and it seemed fine for like a month until it started showing the same problem it did the first time. I brought it back in, supposedly "fixed" it again. After a few weeks later, same problem again. He told me that he changed out the transmission 3 times. The third time he had my car, he had it for 4 months. Within the 4 months, my registration expired and I had to pay for my car insurance and register my car as non-op. My car is STILL NOT running. I think I got ripped paying over $2g for a car that's still broken with the same problem and been replaced with defective parts. No sense of professionalism. I want a refund. read more
