I have one of their 6 inch air pumps in which the bottom section had cracked and the hose had developed the crack also. I spoke with Mike who apparently takes care of their warranty issues and because the unit was less than 10 years old he agreed to replace it if I paid the shipping. I was hesitant initially as he quoted me $47 to ship, but considered this acceptable as I would be getting a replacement unit. To my surprise, they sent me a used air pump as a replacement and when I contacted them, he told me that they had depreciated the unit for the 4 years that I had owned it, regardless of how much I had used it. He then told me that the unit I had been sent was being used in their rental department without any issues for years so I should be happy with it So they considered sending me a retired rental unit as a replacement and charged me the outrageous shipping cost. If I had wanted a used unit, I could've probably easily found one on Facebook marketplace and been able to examine it before purchase. Because I wasn't pleased he told me I could return the unit, but I would have to pay for the return shipping and then he hung up. read more

New location in Rodeo has smaller retail space so they're phasing out clothing, but pretty much anything else whitewater rafting you need, they have, including rental boats and gear. Needed to get my wife's dry suit gasket repaired. We are a 2 hour drive from the shop. They set it up so we could get it fixed while we waited. They were ready at 10am and had us out the door in a couple hours with a fixed dry suit. Had to buy a custom made purple wet suit bag for my wife too. A great, locally owned place to buy high quality boating equipment. It's in the back of the parking lot - a two-story, shambling wood building (look for the kayak). Come up the stairs in back (mind the little blue gate - it keeps the dogs in). Mike not only rents wetsuits, dry suits and boats, he also sells straps, pumps, dry bags, paddles and much else that you'll find yourself wanting on the river. He's been in this business a long time, so you'll get seasoned advice with your purchases and rentals. He makes the pumps and sews the gear on site. Great prices and service. I'd advise you to call before heading over, since the retail front is a one-man operation. Also has a really good website (unusual in this business): https://pacificriversupply.com/ FYI, it's a good idea to book your rentals at least a few weeks ahead of time - depending on your size and needs, he may only have one or two suits of that type. I'm not a fan of leaving less than stellar reviews. I can only speak for myself, but I've rented dry suits on two occasions from here, and have been disappointed both times. Both suits were leaky - the first I had to patch myself (I was in the water for a week straight), and the second made for a miserable day. I did try to address my issues with Mike, but he seemed to take the problems I experienced personally, and was dismissive, blaming me. Just frustrated with the way I was treated when I took my problem to them, I guess. I've rented dry suits for a day or three from other companies in the Sacramento area, and have never had an issue. Maybe just bad luck. They do offer shipping if you are not local, and have a decent variety of items on hand. read more

This is your classic small business, managed by a terrific owner who will frequently bend over backwards to accommodate people. Mike is extremely knowledgeable and is willing to share that knowledge with his customers. I am blown away by the two really low scores.. Please check your gear before taking it on river, especially if its the second time and if your boat is leaking, well there is a good chance other things may be wrong with it.. Rented some life jackets from PRS last year for a camping trip and as most of the reviews here state Mike was great, very helpful and let me pick up the jackets a day early but didn't charge me. Just called him now as we are going up again and as usual the same great service. It's strange to get such great service I wasn't sure I understood at first, we aren't leaving until Wednesday and Mike said go ahead and come in Saturday if it's easier and won't start charging you until Wednesday. These guys are the best. I shopped around to purchase a raft back in '05 and Mike set me up with a sweet deal. I have far exceed the $7/min. the average customer spends at PRS. Of course losing equipment on the river has contributed to my spending rate. |If I need rental gear I call them the night before for a heads-up and pick it up early in the morning on the way up to the river. They have also referred me to their competitors when they didn't have what I wanted in stock. The other guys didn't do that. My only complaint is that they don't deal in hard shell kayaks. If they did it would be one stop shopping. Who would ever want to go anywhere else? read more

This is the best place to pick up a boat to go to the Sierras. I have been bringing people here for years when my friends want me to take them to the river, but arent ready for kayaks. We pick up rafts or inflatable kayaks for them in the morning or late the nite before, and drop them off when we get back. The gear is first rate, not the junk that a lot of places closer to the rivers have, and the prices are about the same. Rates for subsequent days drop so its cheaper to rent for multiple days. Mike takes calls at any time of the day or nite and will meet you at the shop to get your gear when you are driving back, even if it is at midnight, so you dont have to make a special trip on monday to bring it back. He is also extremely knowledgeable about the rivers all over the west. I think he has probably run most of them personally, and run them multiple times. read more

How this place is not getting 5 stars is beyond me. In fact, it enrages me. I've returned used oars because I chose the wrong length and received full credit to buy new ones. Even though the first choice was on me. My fault. I've seen my friends receive ridiculous discounts on used raft trade in's, including my own IK. I've returned helmets that did not fit and had that credited to me. When I've needed repair jobs, they're done professionally and quickly. This is the best place in the Bay Area to do whitewater business. Anywhere, from fitting a dry suit to buying a raft. Outfit yourself right here. PRS kicks ass. read more

Women's sizing was interesting. Large was just a tad too small, and Women's XL was too short. Ended up with a Men's XL, which was a pretty good fit. They even gave me a free Go-Girl which definitely helped handle the pit stops on the river. Shipping/arrival and returning was a piece of cake. read more
