I was craving sushi and received a recommendation for Pacific Sushi from my doctor's office. Since I had been fasting the night before for lab work, I was especially excited to grab a good meal after my appointment. By the time I arrived, it was after 1:00 PM and I was absolutely famished! Unfortunately, when I got there, the restaurant was closed--even though it was during lunch hours on a Tuesday and the posted business hours indicated they should have been open. It was definitely a disappointing surprise. I ended up stopping by Boba Bliss next door, and they mentioned that Pacific Sushi can be a bit hit-or-miss when it comes to being open during posted hours. While I can't comment on the food since I wasn't able to try it, I wanted to share my experience in hopes that the business can improve communication regarding their operating hours. There's nothing more disappointing than showing up hungry and finding the doors locked when you're expecting them to be open. The place looked clean from the outside. Somewhere between a 3-4! They used to be AYCE, but when we arrived we were told they've switched to à la carte just this year. We were definitely a little bummed, especially since prices have also increased, but we decided to stay and give it a shot. We ordered the Mountain Roll, Double Trouble Roll, and Date Night Roll, plus the chicken and shrimp teriyaki bento plate and miso soup. All the rolls had the perfect amount of sauce-- flavorful without being overly dressed or drowning in toppings. The Mountain Roll was our favorite by far! Service was great as well-- friendly, attentive, + welcoming. That said, for what we ended up paying, we did enjoy it but we probably could've gone to another AYCE sushi spot + pay about the same. read more

First time here. Pleasant atmosphere and clean. My waitress Darlene is very nice and helpful. There are no appetizers except for soup. Ayce is $31.00. I decided to try anyways (appetizers are usually a must for me) since I was here already. So a lot of the popular rolls come with a sweet sauce over them. The good thing is you can get it on the side or opt out. I'm not one for that but I did taste it and it is not as sweet as other places that do this. Sushi rolls are very yummy! Unfortunately, the sushi was not good here at all. I am 40 years old, my family is Asian, and from Hawaii and Southern California. We KNOW our sushi as it's one of our MOST favorite foods EVER! But NOT the case here. Usually I love Sushi any day of the week but this was the FIRST time that I've been to a restaurant where the sushi was so awful and I didn't want to eat another piece. The menu is all text on a blur paper so it's hard to tell what you are ordering it's basically a guessing game really. But I've been to many restaurants where the menu wasn't pleasing to the eye and food was great. That's not the case here. The food is about as boring tasting as the menu looks. First, the sushi rice was horrible. It tasted like old sushi rice you buy at a store when you're desperate for a package California sushi roll in the fish market area. The rice tasted like it had hardened over time and was mixed with mushy rice, you could tell it was not fresh. Oh it was gross. The fish was cut very skimpy and oddly had no real flavor to it, nor did it taste fresh AT ALL. I bought the Mountain Roll and the fish inside the roll looked like ground up cat food. It did not look pleasing to the eye. The sweet sauce over the roll didn't even taste like the sweet sauce that's typically served in most Japanese Sushi Restaurants. I was not very good is all I can say unfortunately. We order too much rolls. The "Longtime Roll" it tasted a little bit better. It did take a long time to cook which fits the name. But yet again the rice tasted hard, the fish taste microwaved, and the sauce tasted like bottled yum yum sauce you buy at Winco throw on up. Nothing tasted fresh and whatsoever. After this roll came out the owner came out from kitchen and sneezed on his arm and I noticed he didn't wash his hands immediately after. Lose my appetite after that. He was also chewing tobacco, while he was cooking in front of us and I was completely grossed out. He kept asking us if we wanted anything more and for the first time ever I was thinking "Please No!". I couldn't wait to leave, but it literally took like 30 minutes for them to ask us 4 times what we purchased and create a check for us to pay. They couldn't remember what we ordered and we had to keep telling them and we're wondering when we would get our check so we could pay. I will definitely not be coming back. Sad to say, I usually don't like leaving negative reviews unfortunately there just really wasn't anything good to say about the food. The people were nice and polite, however that's all I can really say positive about this place. The worst part was even my ice tea was served lukewarm. While the sushi review might be a little swayed because I'm from California which in my opinion you can get some of the best sushi around. First I would say that their variety isn't considered really much of a variety, most of it has all the same sauce and starts with tempura shrimp. I have to say I think that they are missing a lot of flavor because they only have one type of sauce for all sushi. The rice is a little bit dry and needs to be a little bit more of a sticky type of rice, if you have any leftovers there's no way you're eating it later because the rice is so dried it out it just falls apart. As for the staff there OK but thus kind of made me feel Like they were annoyed when we asked for more or asked for low sodium soy sauce. Needless to say I'm not sure that we would go back here and less I saw a menu revamp. read more

We ate dinner on 5/8/2021 around 6pm. They were very busy. We had four in our group. Between my wife and I, we ordered seven rolls. When the sushi arrived, we received five rolls. My all time favorite is the spicy tuna roll. Instead of receiving the rolls, I received one spicy tuna hand roll and one mixed fish roll. My wife was looking forward to a tempura veggie roll. It was not on our plate. I asked the waitress if we were going to receive more rolls. She said she wasn't sure. We decided to order a few more rolls anyways since they were busy. I ordered one spicy tuna roll. My wife, the tempura vegetable roll (a second time). When our order arrived, I received two spicy tuna rolls. My wife, a cucumber roll?? Our ticket for four came out to be around $128.00. My wife discussed our order when paying. The waitress said we may have ordered from the wrong area. We didn't. Things to ponder: Even when you're busy, always do what's right for the guest. Don't make shortcuts and replace items because it's easier for you. The customer comes first. Take care of your guests and the guests will take care of you. I believe in taking care of the wait staff and employees. But because we were not treated like true customers (no apologies or something done to make it right) we felt like not leaving a tip. Very disappointed... read more

Oh my goodness, this is absolutely the WORST sushi I have ever eaten and I've been eating sushi for over 40 years. It tasted like 2-3 day old grocery store bought sushi and not the daily fresh made either. I had really looked forward to trying out Pacific Sushi. I was completely let down. This is a Hispanic owned sushi bar. The sushi rice is as dry as the Sahara Desert. They are not even cooking the rice correctly. They are not using Rice Vinegar, sugar and salt. They are just cooking dry steamed white rice. Their so called "fresh fish" is thinly cut, it is rubbery and sometimes a bit hard to swallow. The menu is very weak, the selections are somewhat repetitive and lackluster at best. The sauce used on my sushi rolls was the same on everything I ordered. It sucked just like the sushi. They paint it on too. It's way to much and it tastes horrible. It ruined everything I ate. The service was really horrible too. No warmth at all shown from the entire staff. I was the only one in there. That should have been a warning sign, I should have walked out right away. You are really wasting your hard earned money here. Mine had what appeared to be super low grade fatty tuna that was almost opaque and just barely pink (tuna should be a beautiful deep red/pink. It had no taste. None. He got a roll that tasted like mashed potatos mixed with fake crab. The sauce on both rolls was exactly the same and waa pretty awful. The miso soup was like chicken noodle soup broth with freeze dried tofu cubes. It did not have the wonderful miso flavor. At all. I couldn't even finish my roll or my soup. Love hate relationship with this place. The food is consistently decent. The pricing, not as consistent and not as reasonable when compared to other places that offer the same services like Sushi Ya and IOU sushi. Sometimes the service is a decent pace, sometimes the service is slow and I've been there enough times to notice it's not to do with how busy they are. One thing that irked me is that I overheard a conversation between a waitress and a sushi chef where they lied to a customer, saying they were out of a particular ingredient instead of getting more of it, thawing it, and offering the customer a choice to wait or not. There are ways to expedite thawing and there was hardly any orders lined up. It was not during a peak meal rush/hour. The lack of integrity I witnessed, the inconsistencies in the service along with the price hikes (which have not happened to the same extent at the other aforementioned establishments) has cause Pacific Sushi to drop out of my top go-to places. 3 stars because the food is decent. read more

First... let me say that the people that work here are super nice and seemingly sincere... but I believe still need to learn the finesse needed to run a service based business.. Second... don't go in there expecting that the names of the rolls are consistent with what you've ordered at other bars. They are not even close here.. the rainbow roll is a perfect example... mine came out unrecognizable. In addition, I found the menu difficult to navigate. Third...there's no theme to their background entertainment (ie the flatscreens behind the bar). Trying to salvage my meal while watching a documentary on drug addiction with my kids is not my idea of appropriate or relevant viewing. (Why is that woman giving herself a shot, daddy?".) Pretty big fan of this place. I've read some of the other reviews, and I think a lot of the people who say that they speak another language and how rude it is don't quite understand what it is to be a foreigner in another land. I found in this location, that talking to the waitresses, even if you're not ordering, has helped me understand their situation. Sometimes shyness, and being a waitress don't mix, but I have had the very best, and most attentive service at this location. The chef's are always laughing and having a great time, which translates to me having a great time... even if I don't understand 100% of the language going on. On to the food: #1. This location is in Idaho, land locked state, with no ocean nearby. #2. Transporting even fresh fish, it needs to be flash frozen to be transported. This said, the fish tastes great. The meat doesn't smell fishy, the texture is on point, and they pump out your meal at an even speed for an AYCE restaurant. The quality and cut of the fish is definitely adjusted for a bulk sushi style meal. Where I live in Nampa, it fills my sushi fix just fine. When I want a little higher grade of fish, I definitely go somewhere else, but I definitely pay for it too! I ended up eating one each of the Specialty Rolls (sorry, can't remember the name), and a "Date Night". I also sampled a "Touchdown" that was ordered by a friend who was also eating all-you-can-eat. I enjoyed all of the rolls. The specialty roll with the jalapeno peppers was my favorite. Met my daughter here for lunch. Nicely decorated, and clean place in a small strip mall. People were not overly friendly, and place was slow (noon). We decided on the all you can eat sushi ($19.99 each). We filled out our order sheets, and the food came quickly. Pretty small portions, but fish was fresh and tasted good. The Unagi was very good, but again small pieces. I also ordered a few hand rolls (spicy tuna, and Rainbow). Those were tasty. I have been waiting to go into Pacific Sushi for a while and decided to stop today. The girl at the door was rude and hard to understand. The environment was not warm. It needed music or something. I ordered two rolls at lunch; a California and a Salmon Philly. They are my go to rolls when trying a new place. I paid way too much for the rolls I got. They were plain and bland. Not a single fantastic thing to say about either one. The soy sauce is horrible and they don't carry low sodium soy sauce. Heed the one and two star reviews!! This is one step above gas station sushi at best. The service here sucks due in part to the broken English spoken by the wait staff and in part to them watching tv instead of their customers. Their dinning area is very small and not medium size family friendly each table seats 4 so we had to push tables together and they didn't seem to happy about it. The ungai was ice cold and very boney and I actually had to de-bone it to eat it, the snapper tasted like a dirty fish tank smells, the hamachi and maguro were served very warm, the sake was also served warm with very low fat content which made it chewy, the miso was horrible, we had 5 rolls only one of which we liked, ginger and wasabi are given upon request but not served with every dish, and the salmon teriyaki was over cooked and tasted off at best. Most places will give you miso with the AYCE this place charges extra for it. The AYCE is $24.97 ages 11 and up and $14.95 10 and under which is way over priced for the quality you get. And god forbid you give your kid a piece of sushi off AYCE even though your not gonna eat anymore. I'm convinced the folks giving 5 reviews have never eatin good quality sushi this place sucks!! Needless to say we will never return I could have spent the same at a few different places and gotten more and higher quality fish. read more

I lived on the Oregon coast and my expectations of sushi are quite high. I experience visceral cravings for sushi. So, I decided to give Pacific Sushi a try based on Yelp reviews. It was clean, friendly service, prices reasonable, and tasted good. I enjoyed The Touchdown. The fish was not "fishy" tasting. It was good. That being said, eating their sushi was pleasant, but not exceptional. I compare it to being a little girl and I desperately wanted the real Pretty in Pink Barbie. But, my mom was a single, working mom, and PIP Barbie was not a high priority in comparison to lights, utilities, food, and clothes. But, my mom went to Kmart and got the Pretty in Pastel Knock-off Barbie. I really appreciated the intent and purpose behind it. And, I played with it. But, in my heart of hearts, it wasn't the same and I still wanted the real Pretty in Pink Barbie. Pastel Barbie was just a constant, disappointing reminder of what I wanted and couldn't have. This was my first time here, and if I go back again I'll most certainly do a slow drive by to see if Brenda is working. If I see she's working, or I figure out what car she drives and I see it in the parking lot, I'll just get a hot dog from the nearest Shell gas station. Inside it's small, but appealing and has a good vibe. The set up looks like you should order at the counter and then find a seat. Not the case. Instead, you seat yourself and look over the menu while Brenda looks at her phone on a sofa chair near the front door. I ordered the miso soup and a tuna roll spelled something like Maki Takki. Both were great. The miso soup was hot and perfect. The roll was light and moist like a damp cotton ball in my mouth. After finishing my food I stacked my plates all gentleman like so Brenda could pick them up and still keep her phone in one hand. When Brenda did finally come by she asked, "You all done?" and I replied with a "Yep." Would have told her the food was was great too if she had asked. We went one time before and we drove from Boise because we wanted all you can eat. I eat sushi at least once a week if not more. I ordered my favorite Rainbow roll but this time something was not right. The rice was like a sticky mushy ball. It tasted funny. Not like rice. I told them about it and instead of walking over to talk to me the waiter started asking another customer if he agreed with me. The customer said yeah it is really really sticky. I literally could not break the rice apart. I asked him why are you asking him I'm your customer and am telling you. I felt like it didn't matter. I LOVE Sushi and have never ever had this situation. So I don't usually complain but it was more like um this is not normal please taste this. It almost tasted like something was added to make it "thicker" more filling. SUSHI SUSHI SUSHI!!!! We have been eagerly waiting for a quality sushi place in Nampa for years. It is finally here, the Pacific Sushi bar that opened yesterday is an "Excellent" choice. They have a very nice decor with 18 seats at the sushi bar. There is a smaller section in the back area with a total of 3 table (12 chairs) for smaller private groups. There are plenty of tables and chairs in the main area. If the place gets packed there is a small wait area with comfortable couches. We decided to do the "all you can eat" lunch special. We were not disappointed! I saw an only 3 order limit (on the menu" and decided to order this limit item. It was "The Mayor" and I can tell you why there is a limit. It was "SUCHILICIOUS!" It is an absolute must try, bucket list, last thing to do before the zombie apocalypse sushi. Yes, it was that good! Anyways, as you enter the new sushi bar you will notice the calming light blue decor and seating is neatly set up. The staff were very friendly and helpful in all aspects. The chef making our sushi was very meticulous in his presentation of the sushi and personable. He asked how we found out about this new sushi and we told him we have been eagerly awaiting the opening. He takes pride and ownership on how we felt about his sushi and what we thought about the place. We told him we were really pleased with the excellent customer service and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this place and it is now our new best sushi bar in Idaho. This is a MUST visit if you are in the Nampa area! read more
