Pretty good all things considered inside this awfully small and cramped terminal. We were there around 8:30AM and did not depart until 3:30PM due to repeated delays. There was only 1 restaurant upstairs which were taken by people that had their flights delayed earlier. We decided to leave so we can grab a bite to eat and to charge our devices before going back through security. You seat yourself and order from the ZR code. You cannot order from the lunch menu until 11AM, so we waited a bit before placing our order. Gavin ordered a Pacifica Burger, subbed chips for fries. I also ordered the Pacifica Burger and opted for a veggie patty and fries for chips as well. The food did not take long to arrive. My veggie burger tasted good, usurpingly not dry. The fries were crispy and well-seasoned. We were here for a little over an hour before headed back up to the hell hole. read more

Date of visit: October 16, 2024 My mom's flight from the East Coast was delayed by a couple of hours... and seeing how it was dinner time and the Jack In the Box in Terminal 1 didn't have tacos, thought I'd try something new with the nearby Pacifica Breeze Cafe. I placed an order for the Mahi Mahi sandwich ($16.65) and went with the server's recommendation for the fries as a side - not knowing that the fries were actually $2.88 extra. With my Diet Coke and tip, this came out to about $25; go figure, as this was Lindbergh Field food. Even worse, while the sandwich was actually pretty decent - the mahi mahi had a good taste due to whatever it was marinated in, and the sriracha mayo added to the flavor - the fries were a bit on the soggy side. I should've stuck to the chips... At least the ambiance wasn't too bad, and if I wasn't driving my mom back home, I might have partaken of a drink (despite the cost which I'm sure would be pretty steep and overpriced). Amazingly good Fish & Chips. Crispy, fresh and delicious cod. Fries were good. Tartar sauce was excellent too. Service very good. Surprisingly good for an airport restaurant. It's located in the Southwest Airlines terminal but outside of security on the way to gates 11-18. read more

I know what you're going to say, It's an airport café. So it is, but this one is better than most. The food is not outstanding, but good and there are some interesting choices. But it's the people that make it stand out. Lisa J. took very good care of me, seeing me hobble in on my cane. I have TSA Pre-Check and I always get to the airport early, so I was able to relax. It's far less frantic here than at the one sit-down place inside security. Since it's near the baggage claim, this would also be a great place to nosh after a long flight where all you got was a bag of pretzels and your ride texts that they're stuck in traffic. We tried the fish and chips. WOW- how is it, that it looks amazing and yet, not taste like anything? SAN lacks dining options, and so this is one of only 2 places in the domestic terminal before security. Just don't understand why this food is so expensive and tasteless. The service here is pretty minimal- you scan a QR code and place your order. The food gets brought out, and that is the extent of the service, I hope things change for Pacifica Breeze Cafe. Vegetable salad was less than basic and brown rice bowl was not a bowl and had minimal vegetables. I sent mine back because it was drenched in dressing and the new one had fewer vegetables. Strange. Stopped here for a late lunch before heading through security. I ordered the fish and chips through the takeaway counter. Even though the gal got my order wrong the first time (she accidentally selected fish tacos in her system), it didn't take too long. About 10-15 mins, so they make and fry them fresh. The fish was solid! Nothing to write home about, but it's airport food. Came with 3 fried fillets, which is awesome, and a tasty tartar sauce. Flight got delayed by 3+ hours (just like most other customers) so we decided to stop and eat here. There was only one waiter/bartender/busser working so props to them! Provided excellent customer service and moved as quick as one person can. We ordered mules and they were made in under a minute. This typically scares me. HOWEVER, they were delicious!! They were out of the fish and chips at the time, which is what I would've usually tried. So I got the Caesar Salad without chicken. Not sure if I was just super hungry but this might've been the best Caesar salad I've had at a restaurant. So yummy and had tons of croutons which I loved. It also wasn't drowning in dressing which I appreciated. My partner had the burger and fries. He said it was really good and was very enjoyable. Overall, will definitely come back! John L deserves a raise! I want to shine some light on this 5 star employee of yours. I can't tell you how many times I've walked into a restaurant and it takes the bartender 10-15 minutes to acknowledge you. John L greeted me upon arrival, asked me how my day was going, and actually cared to have a conversation with me. He made me feel appreciated and welcomed and that is why I'll be coming back. That's hard to come by today, especially in a high volume position like his. He offered both the drink/food menu and said if I had any questions, to let him know. Again, 5 star service. Here's where I would add a bonus star - after I closed out, he picked up on my facial expressions and realized I would be sitting here a while longer and asked if I wanted another glass. Another point for care! He truly cares about his guests. He checks in on everyone at the restaurant, actually has meaningful conversations with them, and goes above and beyond for his customers. They have a scanner on the table that was super easy to use. As soon as the employee saw me, he greeted me. Asked if I was having any trouble with the scanner. Said he would look at it as soon as soon as he got back behind the counter. He was THE only one working this area! It stayed at least half full and he had the bar! Not a bad place to get a drink at the San Diego International Airport. I visited Pacifica Breeze Cafe to get a beer while waiting for my boyfriend who was on a different flight. Located close to baggage claim and transportation pick-up, it's a convenient place to get a beer and/or food. Although I didn't have any of the food, most of the people here were getting lunch while waiting for their flight. The space is large enough, as I didn't have any issues trying to find a table and seat on a Friday afternoon. Plus, at the tables were outlets, making it easy to use your phone while waiting. They definitely cater to travelers. I was just mostly glad they had Stone Brewery beers on tap, which is one of my favorite breweries from California. They also offer it in 20-ounce glasses versus the standard pint. But expect airport prices. I've always said that the West Coast has the best fish tacos. Apparently that's true, even at the airport. I needed a break from fast food, which is all too plentiful at airports. I saw fish tacos on the menu of this place as I passed by (with corn tortillas, as it should be!) and couldn't wait to dig in. My bartender was prompt and pleasant and had me fed (and libated) in no time. I ordered a blue Mai Tai while I waited. While I had time to kill, while waiting for my husband to land, I decided I grab a drink and something light to eat. I opted for a pineapple/orange juice mimosa and for foods I tried the chicken-curry-rice soup. For $twelve "airport" dollars this mimosa was such a disappointment. Peep my picture but for the amount it costs the quantity is just not there. I should have ordered a shot of whiskey for that price. The only saving grace was the Mulligataway soup. Pacifica Breeze Cafe is located inside Terminal 1 of San Diego International Airport. I had planned on getting a Burger downtown (Burger Lounge, perhaps), but I had to return my rental car early. The only time I had to eat would have to be at the airport. By chance, my eye caught a glimpse of this place -- they have a location in Del Mar -- so I figured I'd try it out. As luck would have it, they indeed have a Burger on the menu -- Pacifica Del Mar Burger, which comes with a side. The waitress who took my order was helpful and friendly. I chose the Burger (medium rare) with a side of Arugula Pesto Pasta Salad. A glass of Iced Tea was delivered to my table first -- refreshing on a hot muggy day. The food came out quicker than I had expected. The Burger was tender and delicious. The Salad was healthy and tasty. And this was at the airport? Needless to say I was impressed. Looking for food before heading into the little gates in Terminal 1 and the info booth recommended Pacifica Breeze Cafe. It was great. We sat at the bar and our server/bartender was a sports expert and knows everything about football for sure, so you have someone to chat with, but he was a little salty. That said, service was great. The food was very good. I had fish and chips and they were very crunchy and battered, but tasty. The husband had a burger and pasta salad. We both enjoyed the food and the food came out quickly. Our flight was delayed, so we looked for a place to have breakfast at the airport. One of the ladies recommended this eatery, so we walked over to this terminal. You can order at the counter, but we had a lot of time to kill, so we ate in. After looking over the menu, I realized that this cafe is part of the Pacifica family of restaurants, so I was looking forward to eating something with seafood. Lunch options weren't available yet, so my friend and I just ordered the acai bowls. The other one got a West Coast IPA and breakfast burrito. Our acai bowls were nicely decorated and came with acai pulp, mangoes, berries, banana slices, kiwi, shredded coconut, pistachios, peanut butter, and granola. It was pretty filling and I was satisfied for a couple of hours. Service was friendly and prompt, so if you get delayed in SD, this isn't a bad place to check out. read more

TL;DR: Not great as a restaurant, but a good option for a drink. Ah... airport "restaurants." Well, anyway, here's the skinny: 1. Service here isn't very good, unfortunately. Our server essentially ignored us, to the point where we were late to check in to our flight. She brought the check, and I immediately put my credit card down. After 10 minutes, I flagged down another server... who said "I'm not your waiter." So I said, "Yes, I know. Can you please let them know?" She rushed off, looking annoyed. I watched her, and she crossed paths with my server several times over the next five minutes without mentioning anything. Eventually our server figured it out ok her own - after nearly 20 minutes. I had even got up to try to find her a couple of times, but she kept disappearing. Ugh. Seriously? 2. The food is a bit mediocre. Sub-par even by airport restaurant standards. Tried their Caesar salad and their Cajun clam chowder. They were... ok. Honestly, just about every other airport restaurant I've eaten at has been better. Thing is, they have a monopoly on this section of the terminal. Not really many food options there. So... I don't think they particularly care what the customers think. They will continue to get business regardless. The bar looks pretty though. So if you are just looking for a drink, one and done, this place would fit the bill for that. Not bad. The place looked like an order-at-the-counter kind of place and we tried but the lady working told us to seat ourselves and she would serve us. She then disappeared, forcing us to do so. When she came to give us menus we tried to order but she bustled off, insistent that she would be back to take our order. She was running all over the place serving the several tables of diners and we started to worry we wouldn't get out in time for our flight, but she managed. She was nice, but it felt a bit like we were being held captive for tips instead of being allowed to help ourselves more and have an efficient quick visit. The food was ok but overpriced, which is to be expected. The potatoes were surprisingly good and the egg on my croissant sandwich was properly runny. The sandwich could have used a bit more ham though; it was a bit flat. Part of that was probably due to the somewhat limp croissant though. Husband had the breakfast burrito which could have used a side of salsa but was pretty good otherwise. Overall we got out in a timely manner, the food was fine and filled us up although the bill was around $36 for two breakfasts and a cup of coffee. The place was clean and convenient. Can't recommend this place except if you have little or no alternatives. I was stuck at the San Diego Airport and the restaurant was empty while the bar was full. Guess there's a reason why. Overpriced comes with the territory. The burger I got was dry, unexciting, and about as edible as one you could microwave at home. Assuming that you set it for an extra three minutes to get it to the texture of a terrycloth towel. And what the heck is up with the 'yam chips'? You could use these things for a multitude of tasks: cutting glass, carving soapstone, drilling teeth, or sanding down wood. However, I wouldn't call these a 'food item' in the same way that I wouldn't call a hand saw a 'kitchen implement'.
