Came here on a Sunday wanting to get a nice breakfast. You order at the counter and seat yourself. You do not need a reservation. There are plenty of porches to sit yourself and enjoy the nice sun. Great place to slow down your morning. The food was pretty good, but nothing truly exceptional. Overall, a pretty nice spot to relax.

Amazing!!' Tucked just off the beaten path in La Jolla, Encanto Coffee lives up to its name--charming, intimate, and inviting. The space is clean, modern, and full of warmth, thanks in part to the friendly staff who glide between Spanish and English with ease as they orchestrate your order like a well-rehearsed kitchen symphony. The menu is a thoughtful curation of breakfast and lunch favorites with a few standout creations. I opted for their signature drink, The Encanto--a luscious blend of Irish cream with coconut milk (subbed in for whole milk). The froth was artful, creamy, and crowned with a heart. Flavor-wise? Deeply rich, full-bodied, and roasted to perfection. To pair, I chose the cinnamon roll-style morning bun--a flaky, golden crust giving way to a soft, cinnamon-heavy center, topped with silky white icing and a salted caramel ribbon. Decadent without being overdone. As I sat enjoying a side of thick, smoky bacon, the background music swirled between Spanish ballads and English acoustic--perfectly capturing a relaxed, south-of-the-border vibe while staying true to La Jolla's upscale café scene. A must-visit if you're seeking soulful coffee, bold flavors, and a welcoming atmosphere that blends cultures and cuisine seamlessly.

Had a nice relaxing breakfast at this location after our morning walk. The food was delicious and well made. Service was excellent. They have indoor and outdoor dining options which was nice.

Recently came here for the first time and absolutely loved it! The food, beverage, decor, views and service were all just wonderful. I got the turkey pesto sandwich with an iced chai latte and both were delicious (I could have consumed a whole second round of each)! There is a little bit of indoor seating as well as a small upper terrace and bigger lower street level terrace area. Though this cafe is super cute and inviting, there is a notice to keep computer work to 40 minutes here (and there is not wi-fi for customers) so would not bank on this being a place you come to work for hours. This is completely understandable though for allowing for more foot traffic and people to enjoy the cafe as this is a prime and beautiful location. But absolutely still recommend stopping in for food/drinks and the views. Staff is super friendly and helpful! Classic downtown La Jolla street parking.

Delicious breakfast and latte. Service was excellent and location was clean and peaceful. Croissant and other pastries looked great.

Service a little slow but good was great. Cashier was friendly. Avocado toast was fresh. Avocado was mixed with a vitamix so was pretty smooth, I prefer it with a little more texture but was good. Had the caprese toast which was also very good and different than avocado toast.

My experience at this place was once positive, but the service I received on my return (1/17/2026) was disappointing. The lady who helped me seemed snobby, which gave me the impression that I wasn't welcome and that I was being rushed. When I placed my order and explicitly requested it 'for here,' I was surprised to find that both drinks were packaged for takeout. I pointed out the mistake, but she nonchalantly disregarded my concern without apologizing or offering a correction. Observing other customers, I noticed everyone else's drinks were served in glasses. Idk! Just saying! NEVER COMING BACK HERE, EVER!!!

Cute little spot it's in the perfect location to take a peak at the beach caves if you don't want to commit to driving down to the beach entrance.

Came here because we wanted to have a nice lunch in La Jolla at a cute cafe. I ordered what sounded like a basic sandwich, but it ended up being one of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life! What a surprise, what a gem, what a find. Who knew you could find such a tasty sandwich in a cafe like this. We came for the vibes, but stayed for the food! The interior of the cafe also has a unique charm and coziness to it. Parking in the area sucks, per usual for that area of La Jolla. We also ordered the matcha latte, and it unfortunately was bad. Do not get the matcha latte here.

Food was delicious! I got the el vainero. It comes with a chunks of cheese, some shredded fish and homemade tortillas with fried plantain. The blend of the fish, cheese, and plantain gave a very unique blended flavor like no other. Highly recommend. Service was exceptional and the ambiance was pleasant. We there for brunch and got seated almost immediately. The hot sauces are a must try. The green one was the best and has a kick to it.

The iced vanilla matcha only tasted like oat milk. I didn't get to try anything else.

this place is so cute!! the staff was sweet, the soup / grilled cheese was really flavorful (a bit salty, but with the bread was perfection), the encanto latte was the best mix of a bit sweet - but still able to taste the coffee, & the views from outside are perfect for people watching & seeing the water at a far distance. great place to hang around, especially on valentine's day!

I wanted to love this place more, but overall was slightly disappointed. I ordered an iced matcha latte and it was not good - clumpy and flavorless. I also had the chocolate croissant and it was ok - flaky but very dry in general. My group had other food items which they said was okay, but nothing too impressive. My cousin said her Mexican mocha was pretty good.

Everything in the pastry case looked so good it was genuinely hard to choose. All the pastries were super well balanced flavor-wise, and the pastry itself was buttery, flaky, and perfectly baked. The croissant especially was sooo buttery and crisp on the outside while soft inside with the perfect amount of filling. The coffee was also rich, creamy, and delicious, and everything came out surprisingly fast even though it was pretty busy. Not a ton of seating inside and it definitely gets PACKED on weekends, but we managed to snag a little table on the back patio which made it such a cute spot to sit and catch up. Overall such a perfect weekend brunch/coffee date spot. Will definitely be back to try more pastries because I was eyeing basically everything behind the counter.

If you have the time to stick around though, this place is well worth it and the line moves just fine. We ordered a plethora of things - the nutellino, black coffee, a matcha oat latte, a vanilla bean croissant, an almond tarte, avocado toast (they have GF!), and the panino all'uovo. Every single thing was made with love and delicious - this cost ~$65. For the European girly in me, the nutellino was pure comfort, especially on a cold day. I highly recommend this cafe & will be back! :-)

Also got a gluten free muffin, looked rough on the outside, but absolutely delish once unwrapped. Flavor was blueberry, and it was filled with them. I'm not totally sure about outlet availability, but it's still a great place to settle in and get some work done. To note, the coffee itself is just okay, and unfortunately the almond croissant wasn't very good when I tried it. That said, the atmosphere is really what makes this place worth visiting. Aloha Yelpers,…read more Reviews can be subjective and often just reflect how we felt in the moment--sometimes good, sometimes bad. As a business owner and someone who frequents a lot of establishments around the world, I'm always paying extra attention to how different brands and teams operate. After being a regular at Parakeet for the last 6 years, I felt inclined to finally write a review, based purely on appreciation for the all-star team at this location (Kayla, Janelle, Neda, Hailey, Regina, Michelle, Calvin, and all the cooks crushing it in the kitchen daily) and everything they bring to the community. BIG VIBES & Customer Experience Biggest one on the checklist. The energy is always on point from the second I walk in to the second I leave. The entire staff is friendly, welcoming, authentic, and genuinely cares about making the experience top-tier. Also worth noting, they're up at 5 AM to open at 7 AM... which is already heroic. On top of that, this location gets its fair share of entitled, unfriendly, and straight-up rude customers (I've seen it firsthand on the daily). Even then, the ladies and Calvin handle it with patience, professionalism, and still keep the good energy going. That shit is not easy. Attention to Detail Regina and Hailey run a tight operation day to day. Their attention to detail and consistency is honestly unmatched. I've been to plenty of spots around the neighborhood, and no one has it as dialed in as they do. They are also better dressed than other managers in the biz. BIG STYLE POINTS Problem Solving I've watched this team navigate everything--broken equipment, unhappy customers, clogged toilets (lol), bad weather, and difficult delivery drivers yelling at them through Google Translate. And they handle it all without missing a beat and staying composed. Meanwhile, I've seen other places completely implode in similar situations--blaming each other or arguing instead of solving the problem. Not the case here. Always solution-oriented. Extra props to Janelle for unclogging the toilet and Kayla for chasing a grasshopper out the door when it jumped on a table. Yessahhh Consistency Food and drinks are always consistent--fresh, well-seasoned, proper temp, and clean presentation. The cooks are back there working hard but still somehow having a good time while pushing out orders for both dine-in and delivery. The girls and Calvin on bar are always crushing it. Espresso is never burnt, matcha is smooth (no clumpy, low-tier stuff), and the latte art is always on point. Shoutout to Neda, Hailey, Regina, and Calvin for keeping things fast and high quality. Cleanliness Everything is always clean, smells good, and actually put away where it belongs. No shakshuka stains on tables, no scone crumbs everywhere, no sticky coffee floors, no overflowing trash cans--things that, somehow, have become the norm at other nearby spots. All in all, I never leave reviews, so the fact that I'm writing this says something lol. Hopefully whoever reads this--regulars, upper management, or owners--recognizes that this all-star team is what makes this Parakeet location special, and a big reason it continues to bring GREAT VIBES to LJ LET'S GET THEM A PAY RAISE!!
