Is it possible to give more than five stars? Holy Crap, Batman, this place rocks! I have two import vehicles, a Mini Cooper S and a BMW 540i. I am over paying the dealership for mis -diagnoses of automobile problems and paying ridiculous rates at the dealer. After getting sticker shock for a repair at the local Mini Dealer, I knew there had to be another source to get this car fixed. I found Doug Paddock in an Internet search. He has nursed my Mini Cooper back to health, and then stepped up again a couple of weeks later and serviced my BMW with a rather strange issue with fuel delivery. This guy is Carnac the Magnificient! He can usually diagnoses over the phone, and is spot on. Who can do this reliably? Doug can! How many mechanics/technicians/service writers can explain to you what is wrong with your car, and you walk away with a complete understanding of what each part does in plain English? Doug can! He has missed his calling, he should be a technical trainer! Who replaces a water pump in a Mini Cooper, has all the tools and diagnostic service junk from BMW in his private shop and under cuts the dealer quote by 40%? Doug does! These guys are professional, have a clean shop, WiFi, after hours drop off, have a sense of humor, love what they do, and are truly interested in making you happy. It is rare that I have complete trust in any merchant or service provider. I am always confident bringing my vehicles here, and knowing the problem will be fixed right, and at a fair price. They are nice to children, old people, dogs, and my wife feels like she can actually communicate with a service writer without getting her lips ripped off of her face. All you need to know is in this review. I have a 15 year old BMW that has just turned over 100K miles. It is in nearly showroom condition and has what is considered one of the best engines ever made. I want to keep it for years to come. It should run for 300K + miles. Recently I noticed what felt like a slippage in the transmission and a slight hesitation in disengaging during stops. I was prepared to pay the rather steep price for a new transmission because I love this car and want to keep it. Doug could have easily sold me on the fact it needed a transmission replacement and I would have bought it. I know enough about cars to know if what I am being told rings true or not. New was about $7000, Rebuilt still around $3500. I dropped it off and the same afternoon it was ready to go. They had recreated the problem, analyzed it, and took an approach that every shop should do and most don't. Try the least expensive fix first. He had his mechanic load the up to date version of the software into my onboard computer and viola, the problem was fixed and the car is running perfectly. Cost? $202 including tax. That is the kind of integrity Doug runs his shop with and why he has and will always be the Go To Guy for my BMW, and why my daughter has followed my advice and had Doug take care of her two Audis for the last 10 years. My story: I own a 1997 BMW 528i. Last week, I was on Colorado Blvd, when suddenly smoke started bellowing out of the hood. I was scared it was a coolant problem, so I pulled over and had it towed to the dealership. I was called by the service advisor the same day, who told me it was not the cooling system, but rather the AC system. I was told I would need a $1700 repair to replace the evaporator. I declined the repair because I felt I could go without AC. It is approximately 105 degrees in Denver, and I was suffering, so I decided I better get a new car or pony up the money to have the repair done. I took the car to Paddocks to hopefully have it done for less than $1700. I was called by Doug 4 hours after drop off and told to come pick up my car because it was done. I was terrified that my bill was going to be $1500 or so,but again, it was better than buying a new car. My repair was $104.00. He charged me for one hour of labor and for a switch that was burned out inside the evaporator. My understanding was that it would be like a light bulb burned out in a lamp and I was told by the dealer I needed a whole new lamp. Doug could have charged me half of what the dealer quoted me and I would have been happy as hell. Instead he acted honestly, and fixed my car for almost nothing. As the daughter of a Mercedes-Benz engineer, my expectations for service and honesty are unfairly high; but Doug exceeds them every time. I've literally spent months with other dealers trying to chase down elusive, intermittent, electrical gremlins, and watched Doug diagnose them within 5 minutes. My used e46 had plenty of "edge" when I first brought it to Paddocks for a diagnostic, and I was speechless when I received a list of things that I DIDNT need to fix, when I knew he could have told me I had 3k worth of "necessary" repairs. Doug keeps a sense of humour that instantly eases my anxious "what's wrong with my baby?" nerves, and his unwaveringly brutal honesty, and flawless work brings me back time and time again. I've come to value his opinion on everything from insurance claims to financial planning knowing that the talk will be straight and and the advice will be rock-solid. I can't express how much I appreciate the fact that Doug's never too busy to take the time to actually sit down and explain the ins and outs of German engineering to a twenty-something year old. I'm new to Denver and as a guy who works on my own BMWs I was very skeptical of having someone else work on my car. Doug and Paddock was recommended to me. I went in, spoke to Billy L. He took time to speak to me and to walk around the car answering all my question and hearing all my concerns. When I got the car back they found nothing wrong and were honest enough to say that, as well as actually fix a few unrelated items at no cost! The honesty and attention to detail was refreshing. I have three BMWs and I've had two serviced at Paddock. I trusted Paddock so much that I had my wife take one of the cars in while I was out of town, something I would never generally do for fear of having her taken advantage of. I was at SEMA in L.A. a few weeks ago and got to talking to one of the venders, I mentioned I just moved to Denver and sure enough I mentioned a great shop I found for my cars and before I mention Paddock, they knew Dough Paddock of Paddock Imports and couldn't say enough great things! I was a first time BMW owner and I was told by a co worker that I needed to take it in to Paddocks if I ever needed anything looked at. When I arrived for the first time I was met by the owner Doug. He was very nice and willing to go out of his way to help me with my car. He coached me on things to look for and put me at ease when things needed to be fixed. I have told everyone one I know about Paddocks service and most importantly their integrity. Finding a mechanic that you can trust is one of the hardest things and when I met Doug and the rest of the Paddock team I knew that I would NEVER let anyone else work on my BMW. I am moving to Oklahoma this week and I still plan on making 10 hr drive to Denver to have Doug inspect my vehicle when needed. I would reccomend to ALL that if you care about your car and you want straight up honest direction, without breaking the bank, GO SEE PADDOCKS. Seriously...DO IT. After the worst service experience at a local dealer, I called Paddock to see if they could help me with a small light issue on my VW. Although they were jammed, they squeezed me in to see if they could diagnose the problem, and determine if a follow-up visit would be required. Doug, the owner, looked at my car, replaced a bulb which he said cost him $7, and told me to come back if the problem wasn't fixed (unable to determine this during daylight hours). Although I had never been there before, he didn't charge me for the work, which would have cost at least $100 and several hours of my time at a dealer - I was in and out in about 30 minutes. In the short time I was there, I found him to be honest, ethical, experienced, and interested in providing a quality experience to his customers. My recommendation? If you have a German car, take it to Paddock for maintenance and repairs. I wish I had known about them sooner. read more

I found Paddock Imports after looking online for a reliable, knowledgable independent BMW repair facility. I found many reviews of the great service received at Paddock and deicded to stop by. I have an 01 BMW M5 that is "my baby" and Doug looked at the car with the same admiration as I do. I have only had minor service done at the shop since then including tire mounting, balance, alignment, and oil changes. I did ask them to look at the suspension while they had it in the air and they found a broken suspension bracket which was replaced. The car now drives bettter than ever, and I know that they want me ass a long--term customer. They aren't pushy, but they know what it takes to keep your ride in top condition. What can I say that has not already been said. First off, I literally just created a yelp account after having avoided it for years so I can post about Paddock. We have taken my daughters 2006 BMW to them for about a year now after having numerous issues and starting to wonder about the dealership we had her taking it to. She is in college at Mines and we are in the San Antonio, TX, area so we are not able to easily help and run interference when needed. Billy, Doug, and the whole staff at Paddock have been a God send and they take very good care of her and her car. Maiden voyage In the fresh running e30. I made it to Denver from pueblo colorado, and I broke down. I called Doug and we trouble shot a bit over the phone, the next morning I was able to limp the car to him and when I arrived Doug stopped what he was doing and started trouble shooting my e30, I had high hopes we could do a quick fix. When we found we couldn't, they took the car in and gave us a ride back to downtown. They seem like a great group of guys, the shop looked well organized and the skills these guys have didn't need to be pointed out, the projects around their shop showed all that on its own, I couldn't have broke down in any better place. read more

We have used Paddock Imports since 2005 and they are the only auto professionals we would trust to work on our BMW 740il. Since it's a 2001, we've naturally had to put some money into it the last couple of years and they have given us options as to what we should definitely fix at the moment and which things are not immediate issues. They always fix the issues exactly as they describe. In one instance, my husband could not follow me to drop off my car. Billy called Uber for me to get me back home, at the expense of Paddock. Have been taking my German cars (1 VW and 2 Mercedes E-class) to Doug for various repairs for several years, based on my father-in-law's recommendation as a customer of Doug for numeruos years with his BMWs. His prices have always been very reasonable and his honest, straight-forward customer service have never failed to be exemplary. Doug will always cut straight through the BS fed to you by dealership service departments. Unfortunately, it typically takes at least a week to get an appointment (which is actually a GOOD sign, they are always busy) but the excellent service is worth the wait. read more
