Little Italy days
Ken L.

Honestly a great bakery in Bloomfield! The staff is always very nice and their tiramisu is stellar!! It's always the bite I look forward to at Little Italy Days. I think they have decent cream puffs too. They carry so many great desserts and even donuts. It's a great spot to get all your sweets. I love their new logo. The store is pretty big and I'm always happy when I come inside and see their lovely display of baked goods.

Awesome cake!

My family LOVES Paddy Cake! We always get their cakes and cupcakes for special occasions and they never disappoint. Everything is very reasonably priced. I just stopped in for Memorial Day weekend and got a single layer chocolate cake for only $6.99. A dozen cookies was about the same price, depending on if you get iced cookies or more expensive ones. Can we talk about the apple fritter for a minute? I am not one to order a donut for a breakfast treat... I more so go for a scone or something to dip in coffee. I have heard about apple fritters before, but never actually had one. WOW. Paddy Cake's apple fritter is amazing! It is gooey and filled with apples and cinnamon and drenched in a glaze. I have learned that they sell out quick - so get there early! If you live in Bloomfield you can count on running into someone you know at Paddy Cake.

For national donut day, we were in Bloomfield and stopped in. It has been a couple of years since we were here. They had a great selection of donuts and numerous other baked goods. The service was friendly and patient. Most importantly, the prices were more than reasonable. The donuts we got were fresh and tasty.

Paddy Cake Bakery in Bloomfield has always been my go-to when I'm visiting family in Pittsburgh. This popular bakery has a wide variety of treats to choose from, all of which look better than the rest! So often, when you're a Pittsburgh native, monumental moments are marked with a cake from Paddy Cake. When I graduated from Central Catholic High School, we celebrated with a huge sheet cake from Paddy Cake Bakery. They're always moist and the frosting is perfectly light and sweet. The cake artists have definitely amped up their game in the past years from plain flowers and balloons to full blown Star Wars characters like Chewbacca and Grogu (aka Baby Yoda.) The true sleeper star at Paddy Cake Bakery that any local will rave about... the donuts. I recently stopped by to pick up a post dentist-visit treat (yes... I love going to this bakery after getting my teeth cleaned as it's only a few blocks from my dentist's office.) A long long time ago, as in when I was in high school, Paddy Cake only offered their delicious dones on Friday mornings. If you slept in, you weren't getting them. Luckily for me I would stop in on the way to school to snag one, usually when they were still warm. While their donut selection has become a staple menu item and grown considerably from the very few types of offerings, I always stay true to the glazed donuts. It's like and airy. The dough is sweet and light with the glaze adding the perfect kick of sugar. Paddy Cake Bakery definitely holds its own against places that specialize in donuts.

Clockwise from top left: cream puff, tiramisu, cannoli and chocolate eclair

There was a strange smell in the bakery when I entered that was not so appeasing. I picked up a tiramisu (didn't notice it until someone called out), a chocolate eclair, a cream puff and a small cannoli. They all tasted good, with the tiramisu being exceptional! The prices are reasonable too. I would recommend to check this out.

Back for a visit in the Burg and decided to take bus 54, a nice leisurely bus if you want Strip, Lawrenceville. Bloomfield or Oakland. We got off near Paddycake in Bloomfield and with fond memories of my childhood, popped in. What a wide selection of stuff. Cakes, half cakes, cookies, doughnuts, fancy desserts, danish... they have it. We didnt need anything but just took in the ambiance and the smells and ended up with two bear claws which were large and stuffed with nuts. I do wish prices were posted. I might have bought more but felt too embarrassed to repeatedly ask "how much is this, how much is that" My idea of $ is about 15% less at least for my bear claws. The bear claws had that old time bakery taste that I remember from my youth. Hard to describe the sweet dough but my mouth recognized it. Do not buy too much in advance because this stuff is meant to be eaten and like all fresh things goes stale quicker than store bought stuff. Undoubtedly you fill find stuff here that will satisfy your sweet tooth with that old Pittsburgh friendliness. I see that I was so distracted after coming in that I forgot to take pics of all the cases filled with yummy choices. Sorry.

Snacks? Carrot cake & Almond torte! I also purchased pecan rolls but forgot to take a picture of it! I got the carrot cake for Tone but he liked Moio's better. The almond torte was okay. Nothing to go back for! ‍ The pecan rolls weren't what I remembered them to be. They were dry & not worth the calories! I only took a few bites. The first was of the outer layer but I gave it another chance thinking... hey, it's just because it's the outer layer. But, the inside wasn't good either. It didn't seem fresh! This was the only place that I would buy this from. I gave them a chance even after they made the news about an employee making the pecan rolls while licking her fingers. They fired her. ‍ Bon appétit!!

I've been coming to Paddy Cake since I was a little girl. It's a family favorite! Welcoming and friendly staff! The cakes are amazing, so good! All of the baked goods, desserts are great!

I did not need a large, custom order, so I stopped by the business to browse their offerings. I saw two display cases of cakes, bars, brownies, fudges, scones, and cookies, and I saw one refrigerator of cinnamon rolls, banana breads, muffins, etcetera. An employee immediately greeted me, and as I selected my desserts, she carefully placed them in a box for me. She made friendly conversation, accurately rang up my purchase, and kindly thanked me. Here are my reviews for my desserts: Raspberry vanilla cake - $4.25 - 4.5 stars - I bought one slice of white cake that had vanilla frosting and some raspberry filling. The cake was fresh and had tart flavors, and the icing tasted sweet. Cherry pie bar - $3 - 4 stars - This bar contained a top layer of cherries. The flavor of cherries was subtler than I had expected. Apple pie bar - $3 - 3.5 stars - This bar contained a very thin layer of apple. I would recommend adding more apples for more flavor. Lemon pie bar - $3 - 5 stars - This bar had a strong taste of lemon and a nicely crispy crust. Cherry-chocolate scone - $3.25 - 3.5 stars - This scone was a large size. It contained a thin layer of cherries and chocolate chips. 6 various cookies - $5 - I rate the peanut-butter cookie as 4 stars, the sugar-sprinkle cookie as 3.5 stars, the snickerdoodle cookie as 3.5 stars, the chocolate-chip cookie as 3.5 stars, the oatmeal-raisin cookie as 4.5 stars, and the chocolate-cherry cookie as 3.5 stars. Of course, everyone has their own personal taste, but in general, my higher ratings are for the intense flavors.

They clearly forgot the chocolate frosting was supposed to be on the chocolate cupcakes and did not even bother to take them out of the case to fix. There is white frosting smeared on the surrounding plastic case around the chocolate cupcakes, and also a thin layer still on the tops, under the newly placed frosting. I am surprised these used to fulfill my order. First time customer, last time customer.

Cakes are available in about a dozen flavors (e.g., vanilla, chocolate, banana, and hazelnut) with about a few dozen flavors of fillings (e.g., almond custard, mango mousse, raspberry jam, peach compote, espresso buttercream, and fruit). When I entered this business, I saw two display cases that were full of macarons, cheesecakes, mini cupcakes, cupcakes, cookies, and brownies. An employee immediately and kindly greeted me. As I was selecting my desserts, the employee carefully bagged and boxed them. She accurately rang up my purchase, and she thanked me. Here are my reviews for the desserts: Strawberry milkshake cookie - $2.75 - 4.5 stars - This cookie looked the prettiest in the display and had the most unique-sounding flavor. It was pink and had sprinkles and white chips mixed in. The cookie was a large size, and it was fresh and moist. I liked the strawberry flavor. Strawberry milkshake cupcake - $4.25 - 4.5 stars - Can you tell that I like strawberry milkshakes? :) This cupcake was a good size, and it consisted of moist pink cake that had strawberry pieces mixed in. It was topped with fresh, creamy strawberry and white icing with sprinkles. On top was a paper straw, and I put it in my mouth because I had assumed that it was white chocolate--oops! Lemon blueberry cupcake - $4.25 - 4.5 stars - This cupcake was also a good size. The cake was lemon yellow with a few blueberries mixed in. On top was a blueberry-flavored buttercream icing that was topped with two fresh blueberries and a lemon gummy. I enjoyed these flavors. Turtle cheesecake - $4.50 - No rating - My husband ate this cheesecake. He said, "It was fine." One additional thing that I noticed was that the plastic tray that held the cupcakes was type 6 plastic, which is not recyclable in our community. I wonder if the owners could explore other options for the tray.

It's kind of a cross between a whipped cream and buttercream. They have a great assortment of pastries, cookies, cakes and more. Today I bought a Memorial Day cake but seriously considered adding the babka bread, which looks like a long danish. I inquired about the chocolate one and was told it was filled with chocolate and hazelnut. Next time for sure. I can often find an easy parking space around the bakery but if not there is a lot across the street, make sure to still pay via the Go Mobile PGH app. The individual cupcakes are piled high with frosting and so decadent. I also find prices here very fair. They have also recently added a little section to the store with Pittsburgh souvenirs for anyone on Mount Washington visiting the city. The interior is a little dim and dated and could use a refresh imo but the treats are first rate. Pro tip, if you are on the Too Good 2 Go app, they frequently offer a surprise box of leftover pastries from the day. Look them up and sign up for notifications because you will need to be on any drop from them right away or it's gone.
