Discovered from Phantom Gourmet so wanted to try it on a Saturday night for dinner. They have a special menu that they change every Sunday which is neat. So ordered from that menu instead but I know this place is known for burgers and pizza. Ordered the calamari it was crispy. The clam chowder was way too salty and we had to tell them to take it off our bill. The main entree of chicken and butternut squash was not too bad. Went to this restaurant with my wife and son for dinner one night. We found the restaurant to be very loud and unorganized. It took a while for our waitress to finally get to us and when she did there was no explanations of any special for anything else. We ended up going through the menu and trying to figure out what we wanted. We ordered drinks which took a while to get to us as well. It is hard to get a Five Star review out of me. Paddy's did it. Quaint and maximum use of space. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Happy background music that was not too loud to hold a conversation. The people who showed us to our seat let us know about a little lip on the floor to watch out for and our server Adam was very helpful and prompt when we needed something. This was my first time to the restaurant. The atmosphere is a nice change from the typical restaurants from my local options. There's clearly lots of repeat customers. The servers and host are very friendly. The tables a a little tightly spaced downstairs, I'll try upstairs next time I'm in the area. The food, for the most part was very good... except my main course. I suspect I just had bad luck with the cut of the meat that day. They took it right off my bill to rectify the problem. Right in the corner of Newton is this cute little Irish tavern, with both friendly service despite the bustling and tight atmosphere. Plenty of parking all around, with a metered lot right across the street. Food was fantastic! The beef stew was pretty flavorful, with the meat essentially melting in my mouth and the stew itself being just the right amount of salty and savory - making it a pretty damn good comfort for a cold night. As for the cherry bomb burger, it was pretty flavorful with the cherry peppers, giving it a nice kick. The fries, on the other hand, were pretty satisfying to much on - and surprisingly also paired well with the stew Will definitely come back for more! read more

Great local pub with great food. We came in on a Friday night and they were able to seat us pretty easily. To start, we got the chicken wings (sweet Thai chili) and the mozzarella moon sticks. Those were decent. We ordered the chicken pot pie, large calzone, and the meatloaf. All were great. The chicken pot pie is served in a little sourdough bread bowl. So I've eaten here two or three times when I'm here on business. I genuinely think I would be treated differently if I was a regular. My business really wasn't valued here, the two bar maids really made no effort. In fact now that I think about it, I had to ask them for Every thing I needed or wanted. Food was OK. I had a great piece of salmon, but the kitchen didn't drain off the steamed spinach so my mashed potatoes, potatoes being the very essence of my ancestry (!!) were sitting in a soggy pool. We hadn't been since they renovated...definitely more upmarket now with loads of very dark wood..in fact it was hard to read the menus as it was so dark at lunchtime (11.30a) and we weren't near a window. The service was fantastic and fun. The food was just ok but that spoke more to what we ordered perhaps: baked haddock done nicely but nothing to rave about, and eggplant parm which was a huge order of the eggplant but served with poorly drained pasta so the water from the paste diluted the sauce on the eggplant into red water. By the time we were ready to leave at 12.30p we could not talk across the table as it was too loud, and it was hard to get ahold of our very busy waitress (who otherwise as I stated was great). It was comedic but sad to see how the waitresses all hussled if not ran, but the two men took turns walking from the bar room to the kitchen, and from the kitchen to the bar room...never carrying anything or seeming to help out. One maitre d' needed at the front doubtless, but really...those women were run off their feet and these bearded guys just walked back and forth, and back and forth ! But we would return and order some items not quite so traditional to get a better taste of what they can do now. read more

First time at Paddy's, I didn't even know this awesome place was hiding in West Newton! I love O'Hara's (their sister restaurant) and am now a fan of Paddy's as well after having an early dinner with a friend on a rainy Monday night. We sat at the bar, but there were several booths occupied by 6PM as well as a large group of 7, but the bar is fun to sit at so we snagged the last two stools and I LOVED the hooks under the bar for my purse (thanks for that!!). My friend had a couple of IPA's, two hard ciders for me and we split an order of nachos while waiting for our entrees: a club sandwich w/side of cole slaw for him, and I had the amazing eggplant parm (and a lot of it leftover for lunch a couple of days later). The eggplant was really good, nice sauce and none of the strange rubbery texture that it sometimes will have. There were two bartenders working, no wait at all for drinks and/or food and the place was hopping. I parked right on Elm St (feed the meter until 6PM out front) and my friend parked in the lot across the street. Great food and people, will be back soon! read more
