Well, my review started off at five stars, but rude staff led to one star, as a neighborhood store service is key. I saw a woman an older woman ask who I perceive to be the owner. If they are having any special menu for Easter, she was told it would be posted online. The woman was clearly confused because she asked a second time about the menu and was again told it would be posted online, but this time, she was basically told to get lost. I'm going to go out on a limb and say not every living person has internet or knows how to navigate online, a simple offer to text or mail a menu would have been nice especially since this is a neighborhood place. I bought a simple egg salad sandwich with cheese, simple enough until I asked for the sandwich to be cut in half again since the cheese was between the bread slices and I would be ripping apart an already messy sandwich. I was met with a meeting of five women acting like I killed someone, not one smile in the whole store. I just needed the sandwich cut cleaner so i could hold it, simple request! The only thing that looks made in house is the pasta; all cookies and deserts look store bought and put in display cases. Expensive sauce is ridiculously priced. I bought it because I like to spend money on small businesses, sadly I probably won't return or recommend this place. Sad because this city needs a good Italian friendly deli, not miserable staff and people looking like they hate their job. read more

Came across this place randomly with my fiancé and so glad we stopped in. We ended up getting cookies, pasta sauce, parmesan cheese and a couple of really good hot sandwiches to go. As a chef I love and appreciate great food, service and ambiance, and this place has all 3! I started with the sandwiches and loved each I've had. I don't come here as often as I should, which I regret, but it's definitely worth a visit. It's on the southeast corner of Arrow and 3rd, just south of the post office. Even though they have their own ridiculously small lot, it's better to park across the street on the west side of 3rd. For my one and only visit, I had the prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich. It was so large that I was able to share it with my mother and still be full. I was skeptical if that combo of flavors would work, but it actually does. The place has a nice homey vibe to it, so it's nice to look around at all of the items that they have. I went during the week for lunch and the place was packed. Since they have amazing food, and since they are just down the street from the hospital, I can see why. Definitely recommend. read more

I was craving for some spaghetti and wanted to get fresh spaghetti noodles; so I Yelp "fresh spaghetti" and this place popped up. I came here straight from work and at first I thought it was just a place where they make fresh spaghetti, but, little did I know, I walked into a hidden gem. When I walked in I was blown away by all of their food choices. I really wanted to buy everything, but I restrained myself and only got some fresh spaghetti with a small block of Romano. They also have desserts options. Omg their pastry selection is to die for and they also have a gelato station. They make fresh bread everyday, they sell wine, they sell pasta sauce, and other amazing things. Went home and told my boyfriend we should dine in there and try everything that they sell. Which is hard to find!!!) and more But felt compelled to write a little review-blurb this morning I went in for a sandwich yesterday at lunch. I told myself that 1/2 would do it and I was going to save the other 1/2 for later. Well, it was so tasty, I ate the entire sandwich. Yikes So decided I would take some items home to re-therm for the weekend as My fridge and shelves were pretty bare I purchased the Green Chile and cheese frittata , some holiday cookies, a balsamic chicken pot pie , Arancini rice balls and the Padua special chicken, among other goodies I just finished the frittata, which was amazingly good. Just reheated in the oven for about 20 minutes so that the outer would be nice and crispy It did NOT disappoint. It's really enough for 2, but again, I ate the entire thing. (Stuffed) I highly recommend this adorable eatery and have eaten there several times - never a "meh" experience. Can't wait to try the other items waiting in my fridge for my pre-holiday indulgences. Been wanting to give this place a try since its first opened. I've heard really good review about this place and wow all I can say is this place is amazing!!! The Decor of the shop is really cute, everything is well organized and super duper clean! The staffs are super friendly and wry welcoming. I got the egg salad sandwich, I'm not a big fan of the egg until now!! This sandwich is beyond delicious! The bread is very fresh and very tasty. Also tried their red skin potato salad and it was soooo good! Haven't had any potato salad this good in years and the price is very reasonable too. Got a bar of soft nougat with hazelnut and I was really yummy, they have a lot of authentic Italian groceries which I'm super excited to see in Upland. The sandwiches are, no doubt, really delicious. Unfortunately, I do have to agree with the prior reviewer about icy customer service. Worse yet, I have some concerns about Padua Pasta Makers as it applies to recent Coronoavirus regulations. While the owners of the stores have posted signs informing customers that they must wear masks, the employees seem to be having difficulty with compliance. I was in the cafe yesterday, and two employees were wearing masks NOT covering their noses. It almost appeared to be an accessory, nominally covering their mouths and positioned to be pulled up in case the health department showed up. But for the 15 minutes or so we were in the shop, the masks did not cover their noses and allowed for nasal droplets to escape. It didn't look hygienic and seemed a little disrespectful toward both customers and regulations. read more

If you like good Italian sandwiches I don't mean Jersey Mike or Subway but good Italian cold cuts and fresh bread you need to try Padua and there desserts are incredible. From sausage and peppers to fresh pasta this place is worth the drive from any where. I have been a huge fan of Claros Italian market in Covina they make killer sandwiches as well but Padua is a tiny bit better so check them out. read more

Stopped in today to try the pasta as I hear amazing things about it! It was my first time so I wasn't sure how/where to order the ready to eat pastas. I ended up at the counter to order fresh pasta. My sister asked the employee how to order as it was our first time and she looked so annoyed. After staring at us in awkward silence for a minute she suggested 1/4 pound to try so we bought that along with the ready to eat pasta on the other side. The interaction was just strange and she made me feel pretty stupid. Don't think I'll be back due to the poor customer service. Pasta was a 4/5 though, pretty delicious. read more

This place is really nice and has great sandwiches! I actually love their food, but their customer service is poor. We were the only ones that ordered sandwiches, but it took about 25-30 minutes to get our food. Employees walked by, but no one asked if we were ok or let us know the status of our food. They make good quality sandwiches, so I understand it can take longer to prepare. However, it would have been nice if they let us know what was happening. I purchased some food items afterwards and another employee that rung me up was also unfriendly. It makes me disappointed. They obviously care a lot about making good food and about their store. I just wish they paid more attention to customer service. Then the store would be perfect! read more

I've been craving real good Italian food. I checked yelp . Here I am . It's a little shop on a corner. Walk in wow. All kinds of beverages, wines desserts. But what really brought me here? The pasta. Come to find out they have daily specials . So good ! They sell cold pasta meals to cook at home. Also sell frozen so you can stock up. Has a little shop of canned goods for all your pasta needs. Cannot believe I didn't know this little gem existed, and pretty much, in my backyard. This is the kind of place you expect in Pasadena or other points west. When my bestie announced our annual Christmas shopping trip was going to be cut short, I was like, "meh." Never thought there was such a cute little small town feel in Upland. We park in the ample sized lot across. the street. I am loving the vibe just from the outside. Kind of feels like old Europe. Walking in transported me to that little Nonnas kitchen I ate at on the island of Burano outside of Venice. Smelled like Heaven...if Heaven is paved with streets of garlic. Refrigerators full of fresh stuffed pastas ready for Christmas dinners. Deli cases of salumis, sausage, salads, fresh pastas in various cuts, and premade entrees. Small, but good looking selection of desserts. If I hadn't been leaving town for Christmas, I wouldve bought the short rib ravioli in a heartbeat. The lasagne sheets are the size of the tissue paper pack from Costco and there's 5 of em. I think her family will still be eating Lasagne for Valentine's Day. So far so good! Went twice this weekend (Coronavirus ordered over the phone first. The sandwiches we got was the Padua special and it's bomb and then I got the chicken salad sandwich (has a lot of dill, so if you aren't a fan of dill I suggest a different sandwich) the roast beef was also amazing super stacked. Got it cold but I really want to try the warm version. The staff is very polite and helpful. Some are young and don't know about certain wines I wish they suggested another person to help. The pastas and daily specials look awesome I was there Saturday and the calzones looked amazing! I can't wait to go back. Ohh I also got black cup of coffee and it was right on, very tasty like $3bucks though. They have items for you to make your own pizza, pasta etc it's like a mini deli/market. I am standing here in the restaurant giving this place a second chance. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll come back after this. I met my family here for lunch and was super excited to eat here! My parents had already ordered and just got their food when I mine. I ordered a hot roast beef 6". Easy peasy, no special requests. Anyhow, I ended up waiting 45 minutes for a damn sandwich. I explained to this woman here that I had such a long wait and she said, "Well, we were probably really busy and a hot sandwich takes up to 20 minutes." No apology just attitude. The shop is located across the street from the Upland Post Office, so it is easy to find. The interior of the shop is quaint & filled with so many different Italian deli items. The service is fast as long as it is not at the lunch hour. They have several different beverages for sell including beer. Their hot turkey sandwich is pretty good, but it's prepared sloppily with the shredded lettuce falling out everywhere. Also, because it is a hot sandwich, I was told by the girls making it that it takes about 15-20 mins to prepare. I suggest calling in advance to order but always ask how long it would take for them to make it because it may take longer during peak times. There was a time when I placed a phone order but when I came to pick it up 30 minutes later, it was no where near ready. Although I appreciate the taste, I don't understand why one sandwich takes that long to make and with all that wait time, it still looked like it was made in a hurry. read more

I would love to write a review based on the food, but I was somewhat put off by the service... I pass this establishment ever day on my way home from work and I've been wanting to stop, so today I decided to take a look and order something to take home. I walked in and was greeted by a nice female working at what I think was the register, she was very friendly. As I walked back to the deli counter, I was asked if by a woman with dark hair if she could help me. I informed her that I wasn't sure because it was my first time there and I wanted to see what they had. I took a couple of minutes to decide and was going to order a sandwich. When I went back to the deli counter to order, the dark haired woman THEN tells me that if I was going to order a sandwich that they couldn't do it because they were out of bread. She just kind of stood there resting on the top the counter looking at me like I was wasting her time. She wasn't necessarily rude, but she wasn't overly friendly either. I get that food establishments may run out of items from time to time, but that would have been nice to know upfront when she asked me if I wanted to order something. Service is key if there is an expectation to have repeat business, especially when a customer tells you that it's their first time there. It wasn't a stellar first experience that would warrant a return visit from M *** Update *** Thank you for the response. I understand there are off days.
