The sandwiches are really great. Whenever I'm in the area, I make it a point to eat here. Normally, I get the hot turkey sandwich with provolone and it is so good. My friends also get a variety of different sandwiches and enjoy the food too. I plan to order the calzone next time. Also, the staff are always friendly and helpful. The only thing that can improve a bit is the wait time. It's expected that when things are fresh you would wait a bit longer but I called in the food this last time so I could just pick it up and go but they didn't start making it until after I arrived. This was the first time I called it in so could just be a fluke, but I'll see when I'm in the area again next time. Other then that, everything is excellent. read more

We moved to this area around a year ago and I was looking for a great Italian deli.I ordered a turkey sandwich with Swiss cheese , they have small 6" and a large 10". Padua pasta makers is the best Italian deli I have ever been to! Their sandwiches are excellent especially the padua special (I always add hot pepper spread for the extra kick). The anitpasto pasta is delightful and so are their other pasta salads. They carry an amazing selection of fresh pastas, sauces, condiments, bread, wine and desserts. Been wanting to give this place a try since its first opened. I've heard really good review about this place and wow all I can say is this place is amazing!!! The Decor of the shop is really cute, everything is well organized and super duper clean! The staffs are super friendly and wry welcoming. I got the egg salad sandwich, I'm not a big fan of the egg until now!! This sandwich is beyond delicious! The bread is very fresh and very tasty. Also tried their red skin potato salad and it was soooo good! Haven't had any potato salad this good in years and the price is very reasonable too. Got a bar of soft nougat with hazelnut and I was really yummy, they have a lot of authentic Italian groceries which I'm super excited to see in Upland. Well, my review started off at five stars, but rude staff led to one star, as a neighborhood store service is key. I saw a woman an older woman ask who I perceive to be the owner. If they are having any special menu for Easter, she was told it would be posted online. The woman was clearly confused because she asked a second time about the menu and was again told it would be posted online, but this time, she was basically told to get lost. I'm going to go out on a limb and say not every living person has internet or knows how to navigate online, a simple offer to text or mail a menu would have been nice especially since this is a neighborhood place. I bought a simple egg salad sandwich with cheese, simple enough until I asked for the sandwich to be cut in half again since the cheese was between the bread slices and I would be ripping apart an already messy sandwich. I was met with a meeting of five women acting like I killed someone, not one smile in the whole store. I just needed the sandwich cut cleaner so i could hold it, simple request! The only thing that looks made in house is the pasta; all cookies and deserts look store bought and put in display cases. Expensive sauce is ridiculously priced. I bought it because I like to spend money on small businesses, sadly I probably won't return or recommend this place. Discovered this place, oh, only after 30 plus years driving by it and never noticing it. Learned about rice balls, or Arrancini, from a TV show. Looked up arrancini on Yelp and Padua Pasta Makers popped up. I scrolled through the pictures to make sure they indeed had them, confirmed and headed down there - a 5 minute drive. Drove right past it because I've driven by there hundreds of times and never noticed it. Flipped a U-turn and found a place to park in the tiny parking lot. Place is immaculate inside and very charming. Smaller than Claros but more charm. Ordered two of each type of arrancini (which, to my disappointment, found they only bagged one of each when I arrived home) and their signature sandwich. IMO, the sandwich beat Claros because of the bread. The arrancini was delightful and left us craving more - definitely hit the spot. We'll be back for more arrancini, sandwiches and looking to try the huge calzones I had my eye on during my visit. Give it shot! read more

Came across this place randomly with my fiancé and so glad we stopped in. We ended up getting cookies, pasta sauce, parmesan cheese and a couple of really good hot sandwiches to go. I don't come here as often as I should, which I regret, but it's definitely worth a visit. It's on the southeast corner of Arrow and 3rd, just south of the post office. Even though they have their own ridiculously small lot, it's better to park across the street on the west side of 3rd. For my one and only visit, I had the prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich. It was so large that I was able to share it with my mother and still be full. I was skeptical if that combo of flavors would work, but it actually does. The place has a nice homey vibe to it, so it's nice to look around at all of the items that they have. I went during the week for lunch and the place was packed. Since they have amazing food, and since they are just down the street from the hospital, I can see why. Definitely recommend. read more

I came here straight from work and at first I thought it was just a place where they make fresh spaghetti, but, little did I know, I walked into a hidden gem. When I walked in I was blown away by all of their food choices. I really wanted to buy everything, but I restrained myself and only got some fresh spaghetti with a small block of Romano. They also have desserts options. Omg their pastry selection is to die for and they also have a gelato station. They make fresh bread everyday, they sell wine, they sell pasta sauce, and other amazing things. Went home and told my boyfriend we should dine in there and try everything that they sell. Yikes So decided I would take some items home to re-therm for the weekend as My fridge and shelves were pretty bare I purchased the Green Chile and cheese frittata , some holiday cookies, a balsamic chicken pot pie , Arancini rice balls and the Padua special chicken, among other goodies I just finished the frittata, which was amazingly good. Just reheated in the oven for about 20 minutes so that the outer would be nice and crispy It did NOT disappoint. It's really enough for 2, but again, I ate the entire thing. (Stuffed) I highly recommend this adorable eatery and have eaten there several times - never a "meh" experience. Can't wait to try the other items waiting in my fridge for my pre-holiday indulgences. The sandwiches are, no doubt, really delicious. Unfortunately, I do have to agree with the prior reviewer about icy customer service. Worse yet, I have some concerns about Padua Pasta Makers as it applies to recent Coronoavirus regulations. While the owners of the stores have posted signs informing customers that they must wear masks, the employees seem to be having difficulty with compliance. I was in the cafe yesterday, and two employees were wearing masks NOT covering their noses. It almost appeared to be an accessory, nominally covering their mouths and positioned to be pulled up in case the health department showed up. But for the 15 minutes or so we were in the shop, the masks did not cover their noses and allowed for nasal droplets to escape. It didn't look hygienic and seemed a little disrespectful toward both customers and regulations. read more

Stopped in today to try the pasta as I hear amazing things about it! It was my first time so I wasn't sure how/where to order the ready to eat pastas. I ended up at the counter to order fresh pasta. My sister asked the employee how to order as it was our first time and she looked so annoyed. After staring at us in awkward silence for a minute she suggested 1/4 pound to try so we bought that along with the ready to eat pasta on the other side. This place is really nice and has great sandwiches! I actually love their food, but their customer service is poor. We were the only ones that ordered sandwiches, but it took about 25-30 minutes to get our food. Employees walked by, but no one asked if we were ok or let us know the status of our food. They make good quality sandwiches, so I understand it can take longer to prepare. However, it would have been nice if they let us know what was happening. I purchased some food items afterwards and another employee that rung me up was also unfriendly. It makes me disappointed. They obviously care a lot about making good food and about their store. I've been craving real good Italian food. I checked yelp . Here I am . It's a little shop on a corner. Walk in wow. All kinds of beverages, wines desserts. But what really brought me here? The pasta. Come to find out they have daily specials . So good ! They sell cold pasta meals to cook at home. Also sell frozen so you can stock up. Has a little shop of canned goods for all your pasta needs. Cannot believe I didn't know this little gem existed, and pretty much, in my backyard. This is the kind of place you expect in Pasadena or other points west. Walking in transported me to that little Nonnas kitchen I ate at on the island of Burano outside of Venice. Smelled like Heaven...if Heaven is paved with streets of garlic. Refrigerators full of fresh stuffed pastas ready for Christmas dinners. Deli cases of salumis, sausage, salads, fresh pastas in various cuts, and premade entrees. Small, but good looking selection of desserts. If I hadn't been leaving town for Christmas, I wouldve bought the short rib ravioli in a heartbeat. The lasagne sheets are the size of the tissue paper pack from Costco and there's 5 of em. I think her family will still be eating Lasagne for Valentine's Day. The sandwiches we got was the Padua special and it's bomb and then I got the chicken salad sandwich (has a lot of dill, so if you aren't a fan of dill I suggest a different sandwich) the roast beef was also amazing super stacked. Got it cold but I really want to try the warm version. The staff is very polite and helpful. Some are young and don't know about certain wines I wish they suggested another person to help. However, I was disappointed with the meatball sandwich, the overcooked sausages, undercooked bell peppers and the very bland tomato sauce. In addition the unfriendly staff behind the counter who required I purchase a 10" sandwich and would not cut the only roll left in half. Forced to buy the 10".
