This morning was all about biscuits and gravy for me. It was a dire need. The food did not disappoint. The service was off this morning. My coffee cup sat empty for close to 10 minutes as one waitress stopped to chat with the couple across from us, but turned away from us without checking on us. The bus guy checked the other table across from us, but also turned away from us. I actually had to spin my coffee cup around like Doc Holiday did his shot glass In Tombstone. Even that didn't work. One of the other guys dining stopped the bus guy to get my coffee refill. It felt like we were at the invisible table. 3 stars is too low and 4 stars is too high today. 3.5 stars The food was good enough to come back, but the lack of attention will likely send me elsewhere for the next few breakfasts. Went to Red Hill Coffee Shop with my parents and niece. I ordered the pancakes with bacon bits and a hot chocolate. I loved that every mug was different--mine had a cute dog on it! The hot chocolate didn't come with refills, but it came with two jumbo marshmallows, which I've never had at a breakfast spot before--such a fun touch. The pancakes were okay. I had higher expectations; they weren't very sweet and the bacon bits didn't really stand out. But they were huge portions, had a lot of leftovers. I'd probably try something else next time, but I'd definitely come back--my husband's always wanted to try this place. The inside is very cozy, but definitely tight. It's a small space, tables are close together, and there's usually a wait. My mom even accidentally bumped into the people at the next table because of how close everything was. A small place on old Route 66. It's an old building, with an old kitchen, old decorations and even old employees. That being said it's nice and quiet on the inside, with regulars and other people coming and going, the employees saying hi to everyone that comes in. The newest pieces of equipment are the register, what I believe to be their online order system sitting in the corner, and the older iPads they use to input the orders into their system . The menu is limited but full of classic American breakfast options. I sat at the bar right in front of their small kitchen, and as soon as I sat down I was asked if I wanted coffee and then handed a menu and given a few minutes to look at the menu. I ordered the ham steak with 3 eggs over-medium, hash browns, a biscuit with gravy on the side and coffee. Their coffee is nothing special, just classic diner coffee. The food comes out pretty quickly and hot. The ham steak was juicy and well cooked, the eggs came out a perfect over medium, the hash browns were wonderfully crispy and a bit oily, the biscuit was fine with a side of traditional white gravy. Nothing special, nothing overly fancy or overpriced, just classic diner breakfast. It was a perfectly traditional breakfast experience where everything comes out just as they've been making it for years. I'm very sensitive to food oils, nitrates, etc and usually can tell quality very quickly after eating, and unfortunately within 10 minutes of finishing my food my body let me know that the food quality wasn't very high indeed. Red Hill has a pretty nice classic American diner feel to it which is always inviting. It gets pretty busy in the morning for breakfast and the parking is okay but limited it seems. The food very good. There's nothing special you can really do with my dish but they have a generous amount of everything to which I was really full at the end. The quality of the food definitely does not reflect the kind of prices they're asking. Today 9/8/24 I order to go eggs over easy and sausage as apart of my overall breakfast and what I got was burnt sausage and eggs over hard like no runny yolks. I think Stevie Wonder coulda done a better job. Had to ask for a refund for my meal which I got but I shoulda asked them for money for the gas I wasted going back there for my refund. Do yourselves a favor and go to IHOP instead! PS.
