My husband and I came here for lunch today and this place did not disappoint. We tried the eggplant parmesan stacks and a 10" prosciutto sandwich. The eggplant came with a side of garlic bread. Everything was fresh and delicious. This is quality food so the prices may be a little higher than your typical sandwich place but it's soooo worth it. The place has a great ambiance. It's modern, clean (especially the bathrooms) and the staff are very friendly. Having spent a year in Italy I can say that this place is on point. :) read more

I've been a long time customer here and have loved their gelato! The price for it was reasonable as they served quite a bit of it that putting a lid on it was impossible! That's not the case anymore. The price has remained but the serving has decreased quite a bit. My family left so disappointed the last time we went as the servings were so small. I think I've met the old lady that some of the negative reviews have been mentioned on yelp. As a new customer, I am absorbing what the store is providing and it does not disappoint. While we were ordering our food and I heard a rude old lady from behind the counter making a fuss. I may have upset her because I didn't know where she was going to hand me the food but it was enough for her to make a rude remark about nothing. Came here for the first time today and found the set up a little confusing at first, but quickly figured it out. It's set up like a mini market, where on one end of the store, you will find the savory foods "department," then on another wing, the sweets department, and the the self serve areas...and after you've gone through and ordered from the counters that catch your fancy, you can take your items and or order receipts to the cash register to pay. After reading Yelp reviews, we came in to try the freshly made sandwiches: Padua Special (lg $14.50), Hot Roast Beef (lg $16.95), Prosciutto Di Parma (lg $16.95), Canneloni ($8.95), Cannoli ($3.95). I pretty much tried everything with with the exception of the Prosciutto di Parma, but did taste the actual prosciutto. I do not claim to be a connoisseur of gourmet meats, but I could tell that this prosciutto was on it's own level. The flavor was mild, but fragrant and salty enough for one to enjoy the taste of the meat. My lunch mate who ordered it was really pleased, and even mentioned how surprised he was at how good it tasted. Between the Padua Special and the Hot Roast Beef, I have to say the Hot Roast Beef was hands down the better sandwich. I felt like the Padua Special was a little dry...I almost wished I had some thinly sliced tomato wheels to provide a better bite to the sandwich, that was a bit too salty for me to fully enjoy. All in all, out of everything I tried, the Hot Roast beef would be reason enough to return and try more things. read more

Great sandwiches! My wife and I split a turkey pesto on herb focaccia and their Padua Special. The turkey pesto was excellent, but I think it was one slice too thin on the turkey so the ratio was a little off. The Special was excellent. Such a cute place! I've been here twice now - the first time I tried some pizza, pastries and macaroni salad and the second time I tried a turkey sandwich, padau special sandwich, and some more pasties. Everything was really tasty and the banana cake is fantastic! If you're coming in for a sandwich, it's probably best to call your order in before arriving because at times it can get really busy. The system of where to order/pay can be a little chaotic when it's busy, especially if you're not used to a traditional deli (it might be helpful if they did the pull a ticket system), but I love the old school feel of the shop and everyone working there is pretty nice and helpful. To be honest, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go here for a spur of the moment lunch, but if you're in the area it's definitely a great option and I love supporting smaller, local establishments. read more

I ordered through Door dash, once my order came I noticed that one of my sandwiches was missing. I have ordered several times without a problem. The bag that my items were delivered in was open upon arrival. I called Padua to explain what happened and asked if by chance there was a sandwich laying around. They confirmed that there wasn't . I had already placed another order, which the girl who answered the phone said was almost done. She apologized up and down even though I told her I was sure it wasn't her fault. My sandwich arrived in a sealed bag and I put it aside. When I did get around to eating, there wasn't a cookie inside along with my sandwich!!! Awesome customer service!!!! read more

I love the sandwiches here! I walked in this evening and I was the only customer in the store. Two workers were chatting behind the deli case. I walked up to the sandwich counter and perused the menu. I waited and waited. No greeting...nothing. I stood there for some time and then noticed there was a sign that said no sandwiches available. I turned and walked out. The lack of customer service and zero verbal communication was really disappointing. Out and about today I was in the area and wanted to pick up some cookies. And Padua has such amazing sweet treats! A lovely woman named Maria helped me to box up some treats. It pangs me to write this negative review since I am a "small business first" supporter in Upland. For the last several months that I have frequented this deli, I'm pretty sick of being treating like SH*T. And it's often by the same 2 ladies at the deli counter. (The oldest lady and today specifically were Chantelle). But I have also had the same experience with others. (NEVER AT THE REGISTER. The cashiers are always jovial and helpful). The deli employees speak in a curt and rude manner and make me feel like I bother them by ordering. I haven't said anything for a few months because I don't want spit in my food LOL. But I will be going to their competitor. It's a shame because they have quality products. I just don't want to spend money to be spoken to in a condescending fashion. So if you people can't stand quality ingredients and great staff then I suggest you go to "BURGER KING" or some other crappy burger place like "MC DONALDS" or any other fast food place. Because if you complain about PADUA that tells me that you don't have any clue about good quality food. So I was on a hunt for some good bread since the rustic loaf was closed and I came across this little gem, I was hesitant but I took the chance and OMG I wasn't disappointed, the staff was super nice and friendly and told me I could buy the rolls they use to make sandwiches I had a choice of 6" or 10" I bought the 6", we made sandwiches that night and it was super good, Since I was in a hurry and it was raining I was in n out but I did loook around and I will be back to buy more stuff! Upland, CA This is a small Italian shop which sells house made pasta, sandwiches, and deli items. They also sell marinara, pizza dough, imported jams, Cento, canned and jarred items. 5 star Hot Meatball Sandwich. This is my new favorite meatball sandwich. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was, especially because there are mixed reviews on Yelp for this sandwich. The sandwich starts with a nice Italian Roll, perfect sauce - not salty at all and so clean in flavor, moist and flavorful house made all beef meatballs made with breadcrumbs, garlic, eggs, Pecorino cheese, parsley? These are huge meatballs. They slice one meatball into four slices for the small sandwich, but I asked for my meatball to be cut in half instead, topped with melted mozzarella. A small sandwich was the perfect portion size for me. They also top the sandwich with one roasted red pepper but I pulled out the slice, I did not love it in the sandwich. The sandwich was wrapped in wax and butcher paper with their house logo. I ordered at the counter and it was ready in about 10 minutes. I ordered a couple of really small Italian style cookies from the cookie area. They had about 10 or more choices, the couple I got were OK. I would be willing to keep working through the selection to find my favorite! The only cookie they house make is the chocolate biscotti. I also noticed lemon bars, brownies, and cannoli in a refrigerated case, but noticed only after I selected the cookies. There is also an Italian self serve dessert case, good selection of drinks, and a small frozen selection. Service was pleasant. There is a small parking lot and picnic benches in the back. Wow just wow! Stopped for a quick lunch as I was passing by on my way to the 10 west. Inside I noticed a sign that said up to a 20 minute wait time for food orders. I can see why! Everything is fresh and made to order. The special today was Eggplant Stacks and I noticed some roasted red peppers and sausage all ready to go. Sorry no pic, but trust me when I tell you it was absolutely delicious! The eggplant was basically Parmagiana. A perfect portion of eggplant with a yummy marinara, mozarella and with the sausage on the side was a treat! Oh the little garlic toast roll was delightful. Service with a smile was sweet too. Decided to stop here for lunch we order the Meatball Sandwich, the Padua Special and a Pesto Pasta on the side. The pasta was delicious, I liked the added pine nuts that was a nice touch. The Meatball Sandwich was okay. Here they slice their balls, me personally I prefer the Meatballs whole. The peppers was different not entirely bad, something you would find with a sausage sandwich. It gave it a nice flavor with the sauce so I didn't mind it. The Padua Special was good but I would have like more of the dressing and it would have been perfect. We had plenty of food leftover. We also wanted to try a Tiramisu and a Coppa Mascarpone. I'm usually a tiramisu fan but the Mascarpone was my favorite and delicious! We would definitely make a return visit. read more
