From his walls of 6' tall Snap-On chests, to the Hunter Roadforce balancer and mounter and lift, to the Hawkeye alignment rack, all the equipment is top notch. There is no waiting room; rather you join Bill in the shop to witness each step of the process with ample explainations and quirky side notes like "would you vote for me for president if I told you I would eliminate all speeding ticket fines" and "I would make a nuclear plant and use it to power a giant grid of heaters under the roadways in Tahoe" I was able to pull my car into the lift myself and from that point forward the greatest attention to detail and care for my car was paid by Bill. At no point in time was any part of my paint touched. When the steering wheel needed to be turned , a clean cloth was used as a barrier between hands and wheel. The tires were mounted on the wheels with extreme care and not one scratch or chip was induced. Balancing readouts were shown to me . Camber bolts were installed before my custom to spec alignment and the printout was given to me. Tpms were reset and tire shine was applied. This shop is not for the casual commuter who views cars as an A to B appliance... It is for those who care... Who obsess over every minute detail. You can find cheaper but you won't find better. I've been going to Bill Pagnano for years. Bill is an excellent mechanic and a great guy who treats his customers with respect. He will get you scheduled promptly or even take care of the task immediately if his schedule permits. I took in some rims around 5pm to get new tires mounted, expecting to drop them off, and drove out of the a half hour later with the new rubber all mounted up. Order your new tires at Tire Rack, drop ship them to his shop, and get a call when they are ready to install. Same or better prices as anyone else, and you aren't working with some kid who is going to break your wheel studs or scratch up your rims. You get quality work every time. His shop is kept orderly and very clean. Bill takes great pride in his shop and his state of the art equipment, and it shows. You're getting the same, if not better equipment as larger shops with the satisfaction of knowing an experienced mechanic is taking care of your ride. Super nice guy, had several services done in the past 2 years, but he just doesn't listen anymore to what I requested.. "Rotate the tires"???? How hard is that? He didn't rotate my tires and didn't call to ask me because he felt they were near end of life & I "wouldn't want to pay for that". But I was already paying for a brake flush & bleed with the wheels coming off the car for that- a tire rotation would only involve putting them back on different locations... I was also a bit ticked that he put in 5 quarts of Amsoil for a routine oil change at $12 a quart...didn't ask, no authorization. Great shop that's out in the country with no sign, just a house. You may wonder driving out to Bill Pagnano's shop if you're going in the right direction. The garage is out in the middle of the countryside (not too far from town, really) in a humble barn-like building. However, inside is one of the cleanest, state-of-the-art facilities in the county. Bill is good guy, a little loud and talkative at times, but a good mechanic who is fair and will take good care of you and your vehicle. A week later he fixed a flat I got in one of those brand new runflats with only a couple hours notice and he did it for $45! For example, the Hunter machine which allows proper balancing to be done while hiding the adhesive weights behind your wheel spokes. Wow! What can I say. Both my tires popped over the weekend. Needed all my tires replaced. My brother recommended this place told me they are great. I called and the receptionist was so friendly and easy about everything. I asked if I could have my car towed to them and I was in the process of ordering my tires. She said no problem. I live pretty far away, I asked if I had to be there? She said no! they would receive my car for me. They kept my car for two days before my tires arrived at no extra charge. I have had the guys at Pagnano's mount about 3 complete sets of tires that I bought at The Tire Rack and had them shipped directly to Pagnano's. They do a great job of mounting and balancing. I've never had an issue or reason to return so they can make a correction. They do it right the first time. I'm really happy with the work they do and just how personal they are. It is really a nice experience and you can actually go into the shop and watch them. I wouldn't go in so far as to get in their way, but close enough to see what is going on. They also do mechanical engine work but I haven't required any so I can only guess that they are as good with that as they are with tires. Again, very personal service. A great place to take your car if you really care who is working on it. One more thing, exceptionally clean shop, tools, and facilities in general. read more

Tire Rack sent all the needed paperwork ahead of time to Pagano's who was able to fit me in with2-3 days notice- essentially quick shipping, easy to make appointment and they were well prepared when i showed up. The shop is out in the country, no corporate sign-read the tips about how to find the place but GPS should suffice. Overall the job took a couple of hours, the job was done right, on top of the line equipment- Pagano's is a stand up place and provide personal service. The phone was ringing often, people want this guy to work on their cars, their level of busy is good, means they are trusted. And rightfully so. read more

I can't recommend Bill highly enough! I've had Bill install my tires and align my wheels for the past five years, and I've always been impressed by both his work and his willingness to show me exactly what he does and how he does it. I've purchased tires from Costco, Les Schwab, and Discount Tire over the years, and the thing that always bothered me was their unwillingness to let me watch the guys as they worked on my vehicle. With good reason, too. At Les Schwab they forgot to reinstall the hubcab and backed over it. At Costco, I noticed after just one mile that my new tires weren't adequately balanced. I turned around and went back, and was told it would be two hours before they could check things. This, after having waited two hours to have tires installed. Bill, on the other hand, will invite you into the shop where you can stand right next to him and watch the entire process. If you're into it, he'll tell you all about what he's doing, the theory of balancing and alignment, how the machines work, and even how much they cost. And they cost a lot. Bill has top-of-the-line Hunter balancing, alignment, and lift equipment. Costco, for example, uses cheaper tire balancers that don't account for road force on the tires, and as a consequence can't balance the tires/wheels as precisely. Pricewise, I buy my tires from Tire Rack and have them shipped directly to Bill. The total out-the-door price for tires and Bill's service is very close to what I would pay at Costco or Les Schwab, so for me it's a no brainer to skip the tire monkeys at those places and instead get the job done right by Bill. read more

I should note that I am a necessity grease monkey, so I know what I need and I usually catch on when people are trying to rob me blind. In this review you will find a bunch of useful info and a bunch of jibber-jabber, sorry. Hopefully the details help. I needed one simple seized suspension bolt loosened on my (6 months in a Michigan winter) Ford. I took my car to 4 mechanics, Advanced Auto was pretty friendly but then got to bureaucratic to get anything done, Pacific's (Say hi to Ringo if you go there) and Astorga sadly did more damage and stripped the bolt while Peet's Auto wanted to charge me $85 for one bolt. So I had to find someone who didn't just say "Huh?" when I asked them questions . I called something like 8 other shops before I got to Pagnano's. Needless to say I was told 8 times that I'd have to bring in my car and that no one was available, could tell me if they knew what they were doing, had any experience or if they had any specialty tools. When I called Pagnano's, Bill answered, and not only was he personable but he knew what I was talking about, knew he had the tools and was willing to touch my car, yay! This place is a little hidden, and apparently pretty busy. It was a really hot morning but Bill and Bo, hell, all of the mechanics were super friendly, they knew what they were doing and didn't do what every other mechanics had done and just hit that bolt with an impact wrench until something snapped, THEY ACTUALLY GOT IT OFF!!! No bleeping way did I think after all the damage that all the other mechanics had done would they be able to! I was crazy happy, I keep that bolt on my wall and I'll make jewelry out of it or something because it cost me $40 to have other mechanics wreck that bolt and end up still failing but Bill only charged me $20 and it only took 20 minutes or less for that mechanic to put that bolt in my hands. In the end even with the all the crud that the other mechanics put me through it made everything worth it just to find this place. This is the place I will go to now. I really didn't want a write a review because Bill told me that some weeks he's so busy that he's always on the phone and exhausted by the end of the day. I don't want this place to become so busy that its exclusive but they did such a great job and everyone was so genuine and friendly, that I had to write this. To any desperate soul: there are still places that have real people and that do a real job and charge you honestly, and that's coming from someone who is sees people getting ripped off just because they don't know what what their car needs. I feel very lucky to have found and made that appointment that morning, VERY LUCKY! Thanks to Bill for helping me and giving me the scanner channels! Thank you to the mechanic that took out the bolt and gave us that mini-tour of the tore down R8, I never get to see that kind of thing at Pick'n'Pull, it was amazing and I wish I had gotten your name, YOU ROCK!!! Thanks to BO, he don't bite, I swear, he is a total gentlemen of a pup! Make an appointment, google the address and don't panic if it seems you are in the middle of nowhere. Look for the address on the mailbox on the right side of the road, pull into the drive way on the right side of the mailbox and give Bill a ring, he'll be out in just a second to get the car, then hang with Bo for a bit and talk to Bill or the Mechanics, they are happy to explain whats gong on, I'd respect their space if they need it though, great guys! Bill is actually a trustworthy mechanic, in being a 27 year old female I have had my share of mechanics taking advantage of me...but not Bill. Every time I have something go wrong with my car (which is sadly a lot) he really takes the time to make sure I understand what is being done and why it needs to be done. He also is on average 15% less expensive than his competitors, so I would highly recommend him to anyone, I mean why wouldn't you go to him, he provides good quality service at a lower price. Plus personally I like giving my business to the small/local guy not a dealership. He also has good connections in the area...when my transimission blew and he was beyond him, he hooked me up with a great transmission shop that also was quick, friendly and efficient. read more

Brought my 2008 Mini Cooper to Pagnano's for it's first check up a month and a half ago, paid $1000 for a new battery, new coolant, repairs for leaking coolant through the coolant pump housing, new spark plugs and an oil change. Sounded fair enough, though slightly pricey. My check engine light turned on last Tuesday, so i immediately called Bill and asked him to listen to my engine over the phone because I wasn't sure whether or not it sounded dangerous to drive, and he told me it sounded really bad, and to have it towed to the shop (I just now learned from my new mechanic that no one can honestly make that kind of decision from listening to an engine on speaker phone), so I had it towed to Pagnano's, and later that day was given a quote of $1400 to replace the timing chain (which supposedly should last the lifetime of the car), three timing chain guide rails, and the timing chain tensioner, in addition to the diagnostics test. As you would do with any health condition, I researched a second opinion from a local BMW specialist, asking his opinion on the matter as I definitely cannot afford $1400 in 'repairs'. From his experience, he recommended only replacing the tensioner because it is less expensive and usually does the trick for solving the problem, so that's what we did. Got my car back from Pagnano's, we picked it up, and it sat in the driveway for two days over Thanksgiving, then after driving it 1 mile, the check engine light came back on. This time, had it towed to the mechanic who had given me the advice prior, and soon enough, the same exact code came up with the new diagnostics test, but these guys actually looked into my car too! As it turned out, Bill misdiagnosed my Mini by about $1300. The ONLY problem with my car ended up being that it was low on oil by about 2 quarts!!!!!!!!! They checked for leaks of oil, and found none, not to mention we constantly check for leaking fluids on the driveway, and see none. I probably didn't even need to pay Pagnano's $300 for a diagnostics test and a new tensioner, as it turns out. My car only has 64,000 miles on it, by the way. Needless to say, we have lost all confidence in Bill and his teams' ability to diagnose and reasonably recommend repairs. My Mini runs perfectly now that it has the right amount of oil in it. read more

I went in because my car had a clicking noise when turning. They replaced my wheel bearing for $400, but the clicking noise continued. I talked to several other mechanics, all the others diagnosed the CV axle based on my description alone. Based on that, I decided to go somewhere else to get it replaced. $125 later, the new mechanic showed me the ruined boot on the CV axle and explained that it would have been fully visible to whomever did the wheel bearing, and they were "right there" and should have taken care of it. I'm sure my wheel bearing could stand to be replaced, the car has the miles for it. But Pagnano's didn't fix the problem I asked them to fix, when the guys at O'Reilly's were able to accurately tell me what was needed over the counter. read more
