Born and raised in northern NJ for 30+ yrs and moving to Florida about 18 months ago I cam say I've been to almost EVERY SINGLE Chinese takeout place in a 25 mile radius of Pompano Beach and I was introduced to this place by mistake on yelp. The reviews had me entrusted so I figured let's see. I am a really big Chinese food fan and have always been my entire life so I wanted to try a variety of things from this place and besides I had people over so I figured this was a good chance to do that. I ordered a general chicken, chicken and broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, pepper steak, shrimp lo mein, chicken wings, and chicken fried rice. General chicken - 3stars - tasted good but nothing great. Probably wont order this next time. Chicken wings - 3stars - a nice crispy crust that I've never seen on wings before. Kinda like a sweet and s pi ur chicken crust on them. I enjoyed these but probably wont order again. Chicken and brocolli - 4stars - I enjoyed this entree a lot Now to the AMAZING STUFF! Sweet and sour chicken - 5 stars! - I asked for it to be well done to get a nice golden crisp to them and I gotta say HANDS DOWN THE BEST IVE EVER HAD. Absolutely unreal! Chicken lo mein - 5 stars! - once again HANDS DOWN BEST I'VE EVER HAD! Shrimp fried rice - 5stars! - top 3 best fried rice I've had for sure! Since I ordered so much food they were so nice to throw in a free order of crab rangoon - 5star!!!! - I've tasted these before on occasion where in the past I would get a free order for ordering a certain amount at other restaurants. I tasted one just to try it out and I could not believe how amazing it was. It was so good that they might have actually gotten me convinced to order them every time I go back there! When first ordering I thought this place was a bit over priced on a few things but THE AMOUNT OF FOOD EACH PORTION IS IS UNBELIEVABLE!! Worth every dollar for sure! The husband and wife (owners) are the only ones there with there younger son who sits behind the counter. Very smart young man and the parents were some of the nicest people ever. They came out shook my hand and thanked me for waiting an extra 5 minutes which I did not mind knowing how big the order was. 3 stars are for the respectable history at Pagoda. Last night was perhaps the 20th time I have eaten food from here. Always good. Sometimes terrific. Best egg rolls in town. I look forward to it because it's always been a treat of sorts, quality focused at the least. Broke a toe so I did not go in to order like usual. Used online services instead. Many businesses have of course needed to raise prices a bit during the pandemic to compensate for untold difficulties. From what I see this modest take out place is not one of them. It's only gotten busier in the past few months. Last night was the first time I ordered from delivery. Uber eats. They were precise and on time. They didn't allow things to sit waiting I am certain. Order to doorstep was less than 45 minutes. Our food however was a different story. I felt like it was picked up at the wrong restaurant. Aside from the egg rolls which are always the best in town, everything was a big disappointment. We ordered general Tso chicken and a shrimp dish. The chicken that is usually moist and fresh was obviously first-boiled then fried hard as a rock in advance and dried up like leather. Must have sat for hours. Inedible. I chewed and chewed and ended up just tossing it out. It started as a quality ingredient I could tell but was badly handled. The other dish was a chefs specialty for $18 described as "golden shrimps with vegetables." What a disappointment. It was a bland lifeless steamed box of 80% broccoli with a few straw mushrooms, some cabbage, and a half dozen boiled shrimps. Tablespoons of flavorless thin clear broth to wet it. Nothing golden about it.....nothing even browned, at the price I was expecting crispy fried shrimps and perhaps something other than a broccoli pile. Maybe even a black bean or oyster sauce based vegetable sautee would have been nice. Is broccoli a Chinese vegetable? Real mushrooms instead of those little canned things. They used to put a few flavorful dried black mushrooms in things. Super disappointed. The place used to be good but now it's just like all the others around town. I'm really sad. I seriously don't think I will ever give a Chinese take out 5 stars. But for a Chinese take out, this is the best of its kind. I ordered general tso chicken, and kung pao shrimp. The chicken was freshly fried, it was still crispy when we got it. The shrimps weren't tiny little ones you get from other Chinese take out. Everything was so flavorful. I want to go back for those general tso chicken talking about it. The lady at the store was nice when I picked up the food. I'm so glad this place is 5 minutes away from my house. read more

NEVER WASTE YOUR HARD EARN MONEY AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT. WE have been going here for 4 years. It's a 30 minute drive to get to restaurant and a 30 minute drive to get Back home. Do not give your money to these criminals. The food may be okay every time we go there. There's a problem, there's a different price. The same exact meal, we order nothing different. We order nothing extra the most recent issue was waiting. 35 minutes for our food tells us. It's 40 dollars, which once again. A different price. Then last time, which was about. A month ago. Showed her a picture of the egg rolls that were bought previously they were horrible, greasy, disgusting. Nothing inside them told us that they were not her. Egg rolls, we pulled up our credit card and the date of the receipt. Both match that it was coming from her restaurant called us. A liar after we showed her proof it was bought at her establisment. Ok ok. Yes this is definitely take out only. That has already been established by all my other fellow Yelp-ees. Also, questionable neighborhood so I recommend prior to sunset or a two man team just to be sure. The better points, the mom/owner is the sweetest little thing ever. She always gets your order and gets it right. Her little son at the desk is also friendly and ready to help when you walk in. If we're talking Chinese, edible, savory, filling, plentiful Chinese. This is the place. No matter which dish you order just know that they do not skimp on meat or veggies. In particular any thing sauteed. The fried rice is fresh and so are all the ingredients. I also like the way they pack you up, lots of sauces and cookies with basically a no mess package for the trip home. If you are looking for the same cold, slimy, greasy, sticky Chinese food that you are accustomed to, I would tell you to just go back there. Everything that I ordered tonight (first time) was hot, fresh, and refreshingly "light". The won ton soup was full of bean sprouts, scallions, the won ton noodles (not much filling, but very delish), and a very non-greasy broth. The broth was delicious. Fried rice which came with the dinner combo was super excellent and had some other vegetables that were unexpected, in a very good way. General Tso's chicken was lightly breaded and in a sauce that wasn't as thick as maple syrup. It got the point across in a great way without it sitting like a brick in my stomach. We are new to Fort Lauderdale and my family and I love Chinese Food. We went to a back to school picnic and tried Pagoda Chinese for the first time. Oh my gosh, it was by far the best we have ever had. I thought it was brilliant to bring it to a picnic by the way. Anyhow, we decided to stop by this evening for some take out. I have driven by this place many times and it had good reviews so I gave it a try. Buyer Beware they don't honor the online ordering system prices. So I ended up paying $3.50 more. She said they have not updated prices. The prices a little higher than other Chinese takeout only places. However the food is much much better and you get a bigger portion. batter on sweet n sour chicken very light and good. Sauce was so, so. Hot n Sour soup was best I ever had. food was ready in :15. This is the Chinese food gem I've been looking for all year!!! I just moved to fl, originally from ca. Let me tell you, finding delicious food of any Asian variety for a decent price has been difficult. There are seriously no Asians here, and the food variety leaves me feeling homesick and unsatisfied. This place is absolutely the best! Traditional Chinese American takeout, everything made as it should be, in ridiculous portion sizes. I have two days of food left! Everything was spiced correctly, and nothing was soggy. The person on the phone said they don't typically deliver over to us, but delivered anyway. They also included two sodas with our order. It has been Christmas Eve tradition in my family to order Chinese takeout and finish up any last minute things for Christmas Day, and this place hit the spot. Trust me, get some food from here. It will not disappoint. Update: Still amazing! Second time ordering delivery, and it was just as perfect as the first time. The general Chicken was made with chicken breast, too perfect! We found our new Chinese spot! Very impressed with the freshness and quality of the food. We ordered sweet and sour chicken and General Tso's chicken. Both combos with chicken fried rice and delicious egg rolls. Also a side of crab rangoons. Everything tasted like it was made from scratch with their own unique flavors unlike some Chinese restaurants where everything tastes generic. I am from New York, so I know good Chinese food when I taste it. This is the best Chinese take out place I've been to since moving down to Florida 3 years ago. The best wonton soup I have ever had. They definitely have the best Chinese food but I ordered my food for delivery and they told me it would be 30 minutes. 2 hours later I call the store and they tell me they were to busy and weren't going to deliver it! So then I drove up there only for them to tell me my food would be ready in an 30-45 minutes. Now on principle I will never spend a dime at this establishment. I have been disappointed with the Chinese food in the area for quite some time. I actually ordered here because of the yelp reviews and I can say it's excellent. The food is prepared with care and there is a lot of it. It's not just slopped together quickly to get it out. The egg roll wasn't greasy and neither was the sesame chicken. We were originally pretty big fans of this place, but after going back the 2nd and 3rd time noticed it wasn't as good as our first visit. Shame. But, the woman who works at the front is very sweet. Also just a forewarning, when ordering ahead, prepare to wait for a very long time. Typically 15 mins to 20 is normal to wait til your food is ready, but we intentionally came a little later because we knew they tended to take longer and we still waited an additional 15 or so inside for our food to be ready.
