This place "was" awesome. It "was" owned by this Hawaiian guy who was a former cop. He made the best hot link sandwiches. Well, I went there yesterday and no hot link sandwich on the menu anymore. So I've been to the painted a handful of times and they've amazed me every time with their selection of, I guess you can say "specialty" donuts, from the Ninja Turtle design to tiramisu. They have a good selection of regular donuts as well. I wasn't impressed with the Vietnamese coffee, but I know that really good Vietnamese coffee is difficult to make. Located as a stand alone shop in the humble neighborhood of Chino this place has a smorgasbord of different items ranging from donuts to burgers to boba to teriyaki bowls to burritos to ice cream to açaí bowls and you get the idea... Ordered the Cheeseburger combo, PD Cheeseburger Sandwich, Bacon Egg Cheese Sandwich, and Chicken Teriyaki bowl. The food is delicious! The cheeseburger has a pretty thick patty that is not too salty with lettuce, tomato, cheese, onion, and their special thousand island sauce. The sauce is a little creamy and the onion has an extra bite to it with the burger. The PD cheeseburger sandwich is similar but without the lettuce and tomato. Instead you get an egg, bacon, and onion. The egg is cooked all the way and a little dry but the bacon was nice and crispy. The Bacon and egg and cheese sandwich was a little plain but it had a sweet and spicy ketchup sauce that was interesting. The buns for all these burgers were warm and buttered with a soft texture but not stale. The French fries were a little salty but I could wash it down with my soda. The service was ok. When I ordered at 5pm the girl told me the kitchen closed at 7pm...I guess they really wanted me to know in advance. There were two other instances where her communication was off kilter but I took it in stride thinking it may have been a tough day. Anyways, you get a free donut for checking in dough! If you're looking for a variety of fancy donut options, this is the place! Such great customer service! They knew we were first times so they had lots of recommendations. They told me they usually sell out around 8pm (which is when we went) and I believe them! The place was clean and there was plenty of seating to hang out on a Saturday night. The matcha donut was probably the best matcha donut I've ever tasted. Another favorite is the peanut butter Oreo. They also let us sample their cold brew which convinced us to order some. This shop was able to create the custom colors of frosting I needed to make my daughter smile on her special day. Not only did they doughnuts look good, they tasted good as well. First time I've seen ice cream mixed with ice. Normally ice cream and milk to keep the thick texture and ice cream taste, instead the ice cream mixed with ice tasted more like ice milk with very little chocolate shake flavor.
