I had dinner here tonight and got food poisoning and ended up puking after I left. The service was good. I enjoyed the outdoor patio. But that was the only good part. Another complaint was we were sitting at a table and the server came to clean the table next to us and sprayed a ton of chemical cleaner and the wind caused it to mist into our food. Overall the food was horrible. The $8 happy hour chicken wings were disgustingly bland with no seasoning and no marinade. The chicken was slightly pink in some parts. I ordered ribs and my friend got the octopus. My ribs were okay but had way too much oil and no salt. My friend's octopus tentacles tasted fishy but tender. My wife and I did our weekly trip to a new trip to a Twin Cities' restaurant and first did a 3 mile walk around nearby Lake Harriet, a wonderful flat walk around a lake that gives you vistas of downtown Minneapolis. We decided to sit at the bar since the outdoor seating was full. I ordered a Pryes IPA to start off and I got the 3 salsas to start, A must do! The IPA was solid and I got the Avocado-Serrano, Chipotle/ Chile de Arbol-Smoked Cashew and the Habanero. The Avocado was my favorite and the next two have a KICK! But I loved them. The chips were homemade I think and they were super delicious a crispy. You have to try the trio! I ordered the torta for my meal. Although I was pretty satiated with just the chips and salsa. The torta had Shaved Beef/ Jalapeno Cheese/ Rajas/ Salsa Roja. They dip the two cut ends into the salsa roja, which is more like a marinara in my mind, but my wife loved it. I loved it too, but after the spicy salsas, it was pretty mild. It is more like a Mexican French dip with the salsa roja, but it WORKS! It was so good! The bartender/server was super nice and she checked on us the right amount of times. It was about $45 after 2 beers, the sandwich and salsas and tip. Not bad for 50th and France in Edina. I really liked this restaurant! Driving into the area, there were so many restaurants and shops all in one spot which made me nervous about parking. But they had so many parking ramps that it was easy to find a spot! The restaurant itself was super cute and dim lit. Great Happy Hour on a Sunday. Margaritas were very good! Food was good, but incredibly salty. Our Server Luke was fantastic! He examined everything on the menu, made recommendations and even agreed that our Nachos were inedibly salty. He made the experience top notch, otherwise we would have been very disappointed in the food. Octopus was good, but please serve it with a crusty Mexican roll or some grilled tortillas. We love how this place and how they present food. Made a reservation and were promptly seated. Had Jasmin as our server. She was great. Walked thru their QR code menu. I had a shaken margarita and the rest of the table had water. They serve their water in their used tequila bottles. Nice touch. So we could refill our water as needed. We ordered all at once as the food comes out as it's finished (bit different then other restaurants where you have starters, mains, etc.. ). Love the area to walk around and shop, or continue dining / enjoying your company at other spots, especially when the weather is nice and warm outside so you can shop and walk around before and after enjoying some cocktails and a meal. The staff and customer service has been great every time. We have visited during a Sunday brunch and weekend evening at the bar. Jon is a great bar tender and did a great job engaging with all the customers. He offered some great recommendations and took time to share a little about the Mezcal selection. Each time the food has been great. Chips and salsa flights are perfect to share, and I enjoyed trying different varieties of salsa, and different levels of The chicken tacos were also fantastic, and I wish I would have ordered my own Since this is a contemporary Mexican restaurant, tequila and mezcal are naturally the focus. However, there is a small whiskey selection with some basic pours. The margaritas were delish, and I truly enjoyed the twist on a classic old fashioned- the Nuevo Old Fashioned. The entrance is nestled in an outdoor mall-esque complex right on 50th and France, with free parking in the nearby ramps for convenience. But we're here for the food, right? So let's get to it. We ordered some yucca fries to split, and let me say - they did not skimp on the manchego cheese. Get these. Don't ask. Just get them. You can thank me later. Onto the entrees - ordered the pork carnitas and shrimp tacos, and these definitely aren't your traditional street tacos. I would have appreciated a double tortilla, as the single blue corn was struggling a little bit to maintain its integrity beneath all the fillings. Both were tasty, although the shrimp tacos had that delicious sourness from the lime aioli that put that was the winner in my books. For drinks, I ordered a paloma and my friend ordered the pineapple express. The paloma was pretty good, but nothing to write home about in terms of palomas, but the pineapple express is definitely the drink for those who like their alcohol, but don't want to taste it. Amazing food with very efficient service. Some of the best tacos I have had, but my favorite dish there is the wood fired pulpo (octopus). It is the most tender and flavorful of octopus that I have had layered over a very light tomato relish with potatoes. The other favorite of mine there is the tuna tostada, so fresh and full of citrus flavors. Something I also love, but no picture is the brussel sprouts, seasoned in a light elote sauce. Definitely a meal that is memorable. Also, the agave selection is fantastic, with the option to do flights. They also have a very good happy hour for drinks and specials on food. Note, the wood fired main meals are at the Edina location, and the menu is different at the St Paul location. I would not hesitate to make a reservation at either place, though. read more

The food here is delicious. Not your typical boring tacos with rice and beans. Everything has a special twist that makes it new and exciting. Their Pajarito margarita is one of the best I have had anywhere. Don't miss out on the salsa flight. The guacamole was fresh and the chips crispy and house-made. Very pleasant space, but the food was uneven. My daughter said the tuna tostada was one of the best things she has ever had at a restaurant. I got the cauliflower tostada, which was not impressive. Stopped in for dinner on a Tuesday night. Restaurant wasn't too crowded. They have a small outdoor eating area, a large dining room, and bar seating. We started with ordering margaritas. I tried the habanero cilantro marg and Pajarito's take on a classic marg which they dub "the Best in the Midwest". Both were pretty good. The habanero one definitely has a good amount of spice, but not intolerable. For dinner, we ordered a few plates to share, which I think is the best way to experience the menu. We started with chips and guac which was delicious. The chips were nice and crispy, and the guac had a few toppings like jalapeños and cilantro. We shared birria tacos, shrimp tacos, and the street corn. My favorite was definitely the street corn. Buttery and covered in cheese. Delicious. Potions are in the smaller side so I'd recommend getting an app or two or an extra dish if you're sharing. The parking was great, but the surrounding streets are small and the traffic was heavy around dinner time. The staff was friendly and efficient. The refried beans were smothered in Queso. I couldn't even taste the beans. I had 2 chicken tacos. They were soggy and also covered in Queso. They fell apart in my hand. I've had much better take-out tacos elsewhere. I ended up leaving hungry. I think this is more of a bar type place where you can also order food. But, as I recall there were 3 dinners to order - chicken, beef or pork. I went in at 630 tonight. Great drinks. Bartender was horrible. Very cold demeanor. We saw multiple ppl order after us and got their food before us. Chip and dips were great. We sat on the patio and ordered a margarita and beer. The spicy margarita was delish! Next came the chips and salsa flight. I particularly liked their avocado salsa. I am pretty sure I could have drank that. Now, let's talk about the TACOS. We ordered the pulled pork and beef ones. The beef ones were my favorite. I loved the flavor and the tortilla was thin and slightly crispy, which I loved. I also liked the social distancing on their patio. There was more than six feet between tables. Being seated was fast for a Friday at 7:00 on a warm summer night. Outdoor patio is cute and surprisingly quiet for being right next to 50th. We ordered Birria and Chicken Tinga, which were both good (but not ranked near the best we've had). Ordered Chocolate Tres Leches Cake because the non-chocolate is one of my favorites. One of the few surviving restaurants in the center of 50th and France these days. Pajarito looks great, with a decidedly urban vibe and a welcoming atmosphere. I felt the table service to be its best feature, with our server returning every few minutes with water, coffee, appetizers, or whatever we needed. In fact, her only lapse came at the end, when it took a minute to get her attention for the check so we could make the movie at Edina (across 50th). The food was tasty if not particularly interesting. "Tacos" and "Not Tacos" and "Woodfired" while accurate lacked imagination. I enjoyed the Alambre tacos, which had a nice spicy kick. They were a mess to eat as served with the shell flat on the plate, and I wondered whether a hard shell might have been better. I also heard good but not great about the Octopus dinner. This being Dry January, I did not challenge the bar at all, though it looked well-stocked. Docked one star for parking, which, while free, was a cold 5-minute walk away. All in, I would recommend Pajarito and plan to return. read more

Met my coworkers here for a holiday party. Everyone enjoyed their various margaritas. I'll endorse the "chino latino" and the "spicy passion fruit." Both very delicious. We ordered a variety of things and went family style. My favorites were the celery root, the grilled octopus, the shrimp tacos, and the yucca fries. Nothing was bad, but I didn't love the steak or the pastor pork chop. For dessert we enjoyed the fried ice cream and the caramel flan with chocolate cake. The cake was a little dry but otherwise good. Service was good. I forgot to grab the itemized receipt for my expense report and the manager emailed me one shortly after I called. Much appreciated! Went here with some friends and it was mediocre at best. The chips I ate literally felt like military hard tac. They were extremely thick and almost stale? it felt like my mouth was being cut open when I tried to bite down on one. The service was pretty decent though, it didn't take long for our food to come out, however there was a server (I think? Maybe a busser?) who dropped a huge stack of dishes right next to my table and they shattered everywhere. The main dish was overall pretty good with lots of flavor but my waiter had told me it came with cheese and when I received the meal there was no cheese in it whatsoever. read more

Enjoyed my Classic margarita!! I had a sip of my friend's Pajarito margarita though, and that was my favorite drink by far. So yummy! Chips and guac came with a good portion of chips. The guac was tasty and the chips tasted homemade. We also asked for some medium salsa on the side, which had a nice spice to it. Our server was careful to notify us that the salsa has cashews in it in case any of us had a nut allergy. The Caesar salad had freshly grated cheese on top which was a nice touch. I usually like Pajarito. The tacos, yuca, and some of the other small plates are decent. Service is also usually very good. But a couple of recent plates were so unlike their typical Latin presentations that it has changed my overall appreciation of this restaurant. Specifically, Tortilla Soup which typically has a light and flavorful broth base is presented at Pajarito with a base that has the consistency of tomato sauce. It ruins this popular Mexican soup. My Torta sandwich came standing on end, soaking in a bowl of strong tomato sauce with the consistency of ketchup. Why anyone would want a sandwich soaking in tomato sauce is a wonder. It is also heavily seasoned with peppers to the point of overwhelming any taste this sandwich might have. While I love the many great Latin sandwiches of Mexico, the Caribbean, Central & South America., this creation was not like any Latin inspired sandwich I've ever had. I may still go to Pajarito for tacos or their yuca, but unless they stop doing hotdish quality midwestern translations of classic Latin dishes, I won't be going there for a full meal again. read more

Disclaimer: I'm Mexican. No, I wasn't expecting to eat the most authentic Mexican food or anything close to it. But I was seriously disappointed even though my expectations were actually kinda low. Had the tortilla soup. It actually LOOKED ok. But it was the most bland thing I've ever had and the flavor profile is nothing even remotely close to a real tortilla soup. Also tried the carnitas tacos. These were ok, but tasted nothing like actual carnitas. Also tried the skirt steak. It had something like chimichurri on top. Weird. And look, I'm not the authenticity police. I don't even know if Pajarito makes any authenticity claims. I love me some good Tex Mex and I can enjoy a good burrito or any kind of fusion food. But this didn't feel like that. It felt like someone really has no idea what these flavor profiles are supposed to be like. I saw that the kitchen was full of Latino workers, and I just felt sad.
