I have had people talking this place up to me for some time now and finally decided to try them out at their new location for date night with my wife. Gotta say that the food was not very good. Our waitress said any of our seafood options are good and and also recommended a couple pastas and some sandwiches. I gave the shrimp scampi a go. Had no flavor and tasted like they got the sauce out of a bag at Walmart. My wife had joeys chicken and it also had no flavor what so ever and once again tasted like it came out of bag at Walmart. At the prices you guys are charging I expected a hell of a lot better food than what was served. Our bread also wasn't very good. Wasn't anything special. Just seemed like you ran down to the store to buy your bread. Our waitresses was the only reason this wasn't a 1 star. More than likely won't be going back. read more

Good size portions but lousy food. The kitchen must have zero spices for seasoning. Ragu has more flavor. Nothing but a thin tomato sauce without even garlic on pasta. The "bread basket" was 2 slices of Publix french bread. Dont waste your time or money on this place. read more

Overall verdict is: disappointing. Way overpriced. Good portion sizes, but our meals weren't that great, especially for those prices. Service was lacking as well. Nice atmosphere although there aren't any booths in the large restaurant. read more

What happened to the pizza? It use to be one of, if not the best in the area. We didn't order it for a couple months for no particular reason. Then in early March we went back. The pizza was drastically different. Thinking it was an anomaly we ordered it again, and the one more time. Each time it was the same. What use to be greasy goodness now tastes more like cardboard. Whether they switched to cheaper ingredients, got new cooks or whatever. It's a far cry from why we went there for 6 years. Odds are we will not be going back. At least until we hear it has returned to its former delicious self. read more

Have been a fan of Pal Joeys for quite a few years. Probably visit every 4-6 weeks. As with all restaurants, occasionally there has been a miss, but overall have been happy until last night. Only a few tables occupied but a pretty busy bar. Placed order for salad and pizza. Waitress asked if we wanted salad first or with pizza. Said please have salad first. Took over 35 minutes to get salad. Waitress never checked back during that time. Once as racing by said she would refill drinks which didn't happen until salad was served. Less than 5 minutes after salad out came pizza, which was burnt. Had to get busboy to get waitress over as again she disappeared after bringing pizza. She said very sorry about that, but no remediation. Presented check with no adjustment. We paid and left for last time, never to return. Normally would give another chance but this was so poorly handled, we are through. read more

I have been here three times since it opened. I went on Saturday night and a week day lunch and a Sunday. Saturday was totally chaotic with a long wait plus it was just opened may be a week. Thus everyone wanted to check it out. It took a half hour to wait and 15 minutes to get a server and 45 minutes to get the meal. I would accept this as normal for a new place. I had the thin crust pizza and my spouse had the shrimp pasta and broccoli dish. Both are excellent. The Tiramisu is fantastic here. Second visit, no waiting , had the buffet that comes with soup, drink, pizza and salad. Being in a hurry to get back to work this was perfect plus the meal was like around $9.25 which is a steal. The Sunday lunch was great with no waiting and great meals again and great service by Kamran. I will make this a regular lunch place and avoid Saturday night. You can call in your pizza ahead of time when I overheard this conversation in the place.The menu is pretty huge for an Italian place. You may want to study it online. I want try a bunch of the choices when I have time to eat there without a rush to get back to work. There are 3 party rooms that I could tell. I predict this place will be here longer than the previous place that was here. There is one in West Chicago and Wheaton. read more

Does anyone remember when Pal Joey's was on the River and everything tasted so good? Award winning Pizza?? The atmosphere here in the new location in Batavia is so cold and uninviting. The pizza which was what I always drove friends and neighbors in for was a step up from Jacks frozen pizza you can get in the frozen section of Jewel. The Joey's chicken pasta was half the size and dried out. No flavor. So disappointed. Cannot recommend to anyone unless I hear they have changed chefs and management. Do not spend your hard earned money. I went with my wife and two girls and spend $120.00 with leftovers we threw out. read more

I was disappointed by my experience. After many recommendations I was unimpressed with the service, service style, and the food. The service was slow. When I asked for bread, I was told they were out and were had to go to the store to get some. We were not given plates for the bread or appetizer. My veal elegante' s breading looked and tasted like scrambled eggs. It was so thick and unappetizing. My friend's baked clams were not whole clams but chopped up and put back in the shell. I did speak with the manager and he did give us a discount in our meal. But at the end when the bill came- I was supposed to get back $.58 and it was not there. My friend did not get her $.78 back either. When asked the server made some excuse about the other server helping her and she got confused. Final straw! I will never come back here. Have wanted to try this restaurant for a while. I'm sorry we did. My sister and I were seated right away but that was the fastest thing that happened. Had the stuffed mushrooms and then the server came out and told me that the soup that I ordered was still thawing and the batch from this morning didn't look good. Then service just stopped. We actually left without getting our entree. I spoke to the manager but was told that they were backed up in the kitchen with catering and she and the server were unaware of that fact. read more

New location and same great pizza! New restaurant is huge and looks great! We had a great fun family night out! Kid friendly too! Could definitely see hanging there at the cool bar with buddies for a guys night out too. Looking forward to some more winter visits in the upcoming months. read more

This was the worst waitress service I've ever had. We sat for about 10 minutes without seeing our waitress. Then when she comes to our table we order our food (stuffed clams and pizza). We then preceded to watch multiple other tables around us get their food that had came in after. Finally about 30 min later we receive our stuffed clams but no pizza was in sight. We asked our waitress where it was and she didn't even remember that we had pizza! So it was another 20 minutes to get our pizza. Worst service I've ever had. read more

Tried Pal Joey's in Batavia for the first time today. My husband and I were disappointed with the meal and the prices. We each ordered a $17 entree and an appetizer to share plus two soft drinks. The food was fair; but very small portions. They don't even give you any bread. Our bill was $54 and we left hungry. Also, had to wait forever for the food. Do not recommend. read more

Tried this place, food was good but the chef left out ingredients in the Pasta Mediterranean, namely the scallops and shallots. So we ordered the the Pasta Mediterranean and we got the Shrimp Scampi. By the time the scallops arrived, the rest of the dish was cold. Never did receive the shallots...it was for our first trip to this location very disappointing. read more

My wife and I wanted to take her parents out for there anniversary so her mother suggested this place. I love pizza and was excited to try a place I've never been too. We went between lunch and dinner so it would be busy and it defiantly wasn't. We were seated right away and put in our drink orders. Once our server Andrew delivered the drinks he left right away. About a half hour or more later he returned to take our food order. I can only assume he decided to take his break and couldn't care less about us. Once we got our food I couldn't wait to dig in but unfortunately that excitement was short lived. The flavor of the pizza was pretty good but I usually prefer my crust fully cooked. Since I was staving from the long wait I didn't feel like sending it back and waiting who know how long for a new one so I cut the center of the crust out and just dealt with it. I would still love to try a fully cooked pizza from this place but when you have bad servers and can't even cook a pizza right I don't think its wroth the risk of me returning. read more

My daughter, granddaughter and great grandchildren went to the Batavia Pal Joey's on early Saturday evening. The service was terrible. It was not crowded. We ordered the children's menu first with the expectation it would come first. Never happened, it came with our order. No one came to see if anything else was needed (water was definitely needed especially when there was something black floating in one of the glasses). No wait staff was around when we finished, finally got up and walked to the hostess(?) to see about our bill and where we should pay. Then the wait staff came running up. Having eaten at the West Chicago location, we stopped in to try the new location in Batavia. It is a converted Golden Corral. It looks like the decor hasn't changed much from a buffet style restaurant (Formica tables, tiled floors, etc.) - definitely not warm and inviting. The service was not great. Even though there were very few patrons in the restaurant, the service was very slow (and many of the wait staff were congregating near the middle of the restaurant talking and checking their cell phones most of the time we were there). Unfortunately, that was probably the highlight. The food was really terrible. My wife ordered a chicken salad. The chicken looked like it had been pounded out to about 1/8" thick and was devoid of any moisture. The salad vegetables looked to be fresh, but were very basic (iceberg lettuce, etc.) - basically what you might get as a side salad in most restaurants. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs. The sauce was very bland and unappetizing. I'm sure nothing about the meal was actually prepared on site (because if it was, they need a new chef). All in all, not a good experience. Truly, this is without a doubt the worst meal I've had in a restaurant in many years. read more

Tried this place for the first time, was intrigued because the parking lot is always very full. Maybe it was what I ordered but I did not like the food. I ordered the Chicken Marsala and was very disappointed. Food honestly tasted and looked like a microwave dinner. We had dinner at Pal Joey's last night after we noticed they moved to Batavia which is nice since we live locally. It was full so we sat at the bar and had dinner and drinks. The new location is extremely nice very clean and the staff is great. Our dinner arrived quickly for as full as the restaurant was and the food was hot and delicious! Love the new location, the staff and the food. Highly recommended! Pan pizza is the next meal, looked outstanding :) read more
