1.26.26: I was in the area for an appointment and wanted to have lunch before my hour drive home. I've been to the Rancho Viejo in Post Falls and it was good, so I hoped this one was just as good. It was late afternoon after the usual lunch rush. After walking in, we were greeted and sat right away--we were the only ones in the restaurant our entire meal. I didn't know the name of our server, but at the end when we received our bill, it said our server was: Magui V. She was the only person we interacted with from beginning to end. She brought us chips and salsa and took our drink order. We both got Shirley Temples, which were super tasty. The salsa had a little kick to it that day and I liked it. As for my entree, I went with the Enchiladas Cancun (see my pics for menu description) and my roommate ordered a combo plate with a taco and enchilada. Our plates arrived HOT! I loved that--nothing is more annoying than a luke warm plate of food that's been sitting lol. My Enchiladas Cancun was great! I was hesitant about the spinach since I've never had it in an enchilada, but I like spinach so it was a winner. The shrimp, spinach, cottage cheese, and veggies melded well together with the cheese and green sauce. One of my favorite parts of a Mexican dish is the beans and rice and mine were spot on. My roommate said his taco and enchilada were pretty good and because he ordered this same exact meal at the other location, he felt Post Falls was a bit saucier. Our server, Magui, surprised us at the end with a little dessert treat. It was what appeared to be a deep fried pastry chip with a dollop of whip cream and strawberry sauce--simple, yet tasty and I didn't walk away with onion taste in my mouth from my meal. Definite positive! Magui was an awesome server: attentive, checked on us at appropriate times, really friendly, and gotta give her love for the sweet bite at the end! Tried Rancho Viejo for the first time recently and while the food was pretty good and the ambiance was fun the service left a lot to be desired. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time and our waiter only returned to drop the food and then pick up our dirty plates. No checking it to see how things were, offering to replenish drinks or refill waters. Overall a little disappointing. read more

Great Mexican cuisine and a very diverse menu. Lots of seafood options too. We've ate here when craving a Mexican sit-down dinner every time since discovering it about six-months ago. It's a bit off the beaten path and we didn't know it was here for the first couple years after we moved to the South Hill. They have daily specials with popular dishes at a reduced price. They also have happy hour until 6:00 pm which gives time to make it in after work before it ends. Tonight I had the chicken carnitas plate and a Corona served in a frozen mug with lime slice. I often get a large combination. They have a large selection of differing styles of margaritas that can be ordered in different sizes with a selection of tequilas too. They only have beers in bottles. No draft beers on tap (kind of a bummer if you're wanting a craft beer). I'm pretty sure you'll like a meal from Rancho Viejo on 57th. read more

The prices are steep for SPOKANE or any city for that matter. We ordered pollo a la crema and pollo Diablo, each single plate was $19.98! This is astronomical for mexican food. The food is So delicious but they're definitely price gouging. The quality, sauces are excellent. We've been here a dozen times and this price inflation doesn't sit well with us. We've taken friends here, large family parties and we do take out quite often but $45 for take out doesn't seem like fair pricing. Food is excellent but prices are not. read more

Hey it's not taco truck authentic but it's great food and a great family to support! The people are very nice and the food never disappoints! I am obsessed with their Pollo Azado Burrito. It's hard not to get every time, but in the cases I do branch off the ceviche is delicious and a generous enough portion that I don't walk away still hungry. But back to the pollo azado burrito, seriously the mixture of veggies and chicken, smothered in the verde sause is perfection in the making. This is a great place for a celebration or a party or an after work soirée or a POETS club event. I would classify this restaurant as both a family restaurant as well as a sports bar. They often have specials on margaritas. The decor is very festive and the music fits the decor. The waitstaff is very pleasant and will explain any of the dishes to you if you do not frequent Mexican restaurants often. Usually I order a burrito but I decided to try the huevos rancheros this time and they tasted wonderful. All they needed was a little hot sauce for some extra spiciness. I also ordered a negra modelo which complemented the huevos very nicely. I know, beer with a breakfast dish is not recommended. Parking is simple as there is a large private parking lot for your use. Overall this is a solid Mexican restaurant with tasty food at a reasonable price. You won't be disappointed if you eat here. read more

Located in a relatively new strip mall, this place is much bigger in the inside than what it appears from the outside. There is more than one entrance and I came in on the side but was seated immediately on a Sunday at noon during Memorial Day weekend. The menu is extensive and my party needed additional time before deciding. We enjoyed their complimentary chips and salsa (2 kinds), while we reviewed the menu. One of the salsas was spicy, and the waiter explained this as he set them on the table. I went for the Expresso Burrito, which has pork and green sauce. Beans and rice was inside the burrito, and guacamole and sour cream on the outside. It had wonderful taste and ranks as one of the best burritos I have had. I'm guessing that this place could be a great place in the evenings as the bar area was huge. Staff was polite and efficient. read more

Unfortunately one of our favorites places to get the family together for a meal provided the some of the worst service we have ever experienced. The younger waitress appeared to avoid our group and when we could find her was irritated when we asked for a beverage or appetizer. It was not busy and we couldn't believe her lack of attentiveness. This is the second time this waitress has been been poor. The last time we wrote it off as a bad day as they happen to all of us. This time was over the top bad. This place was a great option for weeknight dinner with the kids. We sat in a booth in the corner, and didn't feel bad at all that our child was spooning salsa out of the dish, or occasionally yelling. It was that right mix of casual that enabled my husband and I to enjoy a margarita together and recap our busy days, but have kid friendly food easily available. My first takeaway related to the "original margarita". It was very good. The original margarita is a bit elevated from their cheapest marg and includes a housemade lime base etc. I'm picky about my margaritas and they did a great job here. My second takeaway was related to the great peanut butter enchilada sauce mystery. Basically I saw on Yelp and in their menu that there was PB in the sauz. That didn't sound good to me, but I really wanted enchiladas. Thankfully I asked the waitress about it, hoping she could explain, and she said very adamantly that there is no PB in the enchilada sauce anymore and that the menu was wrong. I got the enchiladas, enjoyed them immensely, and couldn't taste any peanut butter. So, mystery solved. read more

We keep coming back and I keep forgetting to check in. For the love..8! This is one of our favorite places to eat. Apparently, considering that they automatically bring me mild salsa when dropping off our first bowl of chips and salsa. Anyway. I'm surprised I haven't yelped about this place yet, but before I do, I want to say that I read thru several of the neg reviews because I was so surprised that there was an average of only 3 stars. I'm sorry that those folks had a bad experience here. We have been coming to this location, frequently, for over 8 years. We enjoy the food and the staff here. I have been to 2 other locations and like this one best. The margarita's rock. I love that there are 3 sizes, small, medium and huge. My other half gets excited like a kid to come for the chips and salsa. The food is good and I look forward to the variety of the menu. So why didn't I give a 5 Star you ask? As much as I like this place, there's always room for improvement. I agree with one of the neg reviews that the platers, not plates, are half portioned with beans and rice. I would also like to mention that we too have experienced bad service, from one guy in particular. It drove me crazy and frankly pissed me off to get him. Oh well, it didn't stop us from coming. All in all, I recommend this restaurant. We feel it is better than most of the other Mexican restaurants in town. Give it a try and see for yourself. read more

This place is as authentic as they come. The servers greeting you in Spanish, the decore, jaritos, and the food. The food is on point. The tamales have made my keto diet fly out the window. I see where a lot of people are upset about the prices here but this is not Taco Bell. This is a nice place to sit and eat even for date night. Review of Rancho Viejo chicken nuggets: Presentation was excellent: nuggets and fries were arranged symmetrically and separately, to avoid cross-contamination of flavors. Also excellent taste. Consisted of a firm but moist patty with a juicy, chicken-flavored bite. The breading was crisp, lightly browned, and most importantly, it adhered firmly to the chicken. These nuggets deftly walked the tightrope between greasy, but not too greasy, salty but not too salty, tender but not too tender. Only complaint is the pricing. Total came out to $6, and for 5 nuggets, that's $1.20 per nugget, making Rancho Viejo more expensive than some of its nugget peers. But, kind of like buying a BMW or a Rolex, sometimes luxury costs a little extra. Overall: 5/5 Stars read more

This is the best Mexican food in Spokane. I've moved here from California and was worried that there would be no quality authentic Mexican food. I was wrong to worry. I'm very disappointed and bothered by this business. It's a shame that I've had to take my business elsewhere. Their food is really good but very expensive and the customer service is just terrible. They are short and almost condescending sometimes. I used to frequent them all the time last year during COVID and the restaurant was always empty. I felt bad for them. Their customer service is just atrocious! The menu on here isn't accurate. I ordered something to go and come in to pick it up and the price on their online menu was 11.99, I get there and they charged me 19.99! Refused to honor the pricing and just told me that the menu online is outdated. I think I am a little too accustomed to good mexican food. I have lived in NYC, Cali, and Vegas all of which have great authentic mexican food for reasonable prices....mind you, this whole review is based off take out. We tried this place out today because of a tip I got from someone when moving here and although it wasn't bad, it wasnt by any means anything worth bragging about. We got the chicken nachos (very bland), an enchilada meal (which was okay but a little overpriced) and a kids quesadilla (I could have made better at home). I doubt I will be going back to this place for take out, maybe to sit in so I could have a few drinks but not for takeout. Wasn't impressed and the quality of the food wasnt worth the price paid. We are out of towners visiting family and wanted a Mexican dinner for an evening out. This place was truly awesome! The homemade salsa was wonderful and onion-y, the margaritas were fresh and had lots of fruit, and our food was served hot and spot-on with the menu descriptions. The menu is huge and there seems to be something for everyone. Very progressive flavors and we are completely happy we came here for dinner! The staff were so wonderful and covid-safe. I looooovvvveeeee Mexican food. Sometimes though, it can be hard to find good Mexican food. The staff here is very friendly. They make you feel welcome. The food here is great. I am a die hard fajita person and was very happy with it. All the ingredients tasted fresh. They give you a good amount of tortillas. The chips and salsa are good too. The salsa has some heat, but its not overpowering. Happy hour here is from 2-7. That's pretty awesome. Overall I'm very happy with this place. I will be returning. read more

Yummy! I was so glad my cousin suggested going to this place when I was visiting him in Spokane this past weekend. We showed up with a large group early in the evening and they were able to seat us instantly. The service was very nice as well. Chips were warm and slightly salty. The salsa was okay. I felt as though it could have been a bit spicier (but I do come from Vegas where things can get REAL spicy, haha). I ordered one of their big burritos. It was massive, but very tasty. Got it with shredded chicken and the house beans stuffed inside. The presentation was good and they gave me plenty of guacamole. Even though I thought I wouldn't eat half of it, I ended up only leaving a small portion of it on the plate. The other dinner item the people of my group got that looked really good was the Ceasar-style chicken salad. The girl eating it said it was really good. Of course, the others in the group got your typical Mexican-fare: cheese enchiladas, taquitos, and a beef burrito. Everyone seemed very pleased with their meals though!
