Utica has great pizza and this place did not disappoint. I stopped for lunch and went with an upside down slice and a plain cheese slice. Both were excellent. They were cooked to perfection with a nice crisp. Sauce was very nice. This is great thin style pie. I spoke to owner who was very friendly and told me a brief history of the many years of being in business. I could see in the kitchen there was an older Italian woman making meatballs. I ordered a pizza, garlic knots & and order of fries at 9pm and after paying for delivery & the fee for using Slice to place the order, plus a tip my total was $40. I was given a delivery time of 10pm. One hour. By 10:20pm i started a chat with Thomas T on the app Slice & was told it would be there momentarily. Another 10 minutes go by before the delivery driver pulls up. Mind you, the pizza place is less than a 5 minute drive away. I specifically asked if the food was cold & was told, "No! We are just very busy. You're my first delivery." I get into my apartment and open the boxes to the sight of very, very cold pizza, soggy fries & dry garlic knots! I get back into the chat with Thomas T from Slice & told him the food was cold & soggy & i was given a whopping discount of 10%. A refund of $4 doesn't ever cover the $5.99 total paid for the delivery fees or the fact that I'm not going to eat cold soggy pizza & fries & threw them out. A 10% discount for an order that was over 30 minutes late & arrived cold & inedible is an insult! I will NEVER do business at Palermo's again! That's some really shity customer service. Don't call this place late at night expecting perfect delivery because it ain't happening! They charge $1.99 for delivery and with nobody wanting to work you need to order from Uber eats and pay the additional $10-15 if you want it delivered or just pick up! This establishment has been around for a very very long time. When many places went out of business Palermo was there to feed the bellies of many around the neighborhood. I have been eating here for well over 10 years back when the big old fish was still alive in the fish tank only real g's know what I'm talking about. Anyway the pizza is fantastic! This place was started by an Italian family from Italy this is the real deal. This place is to be respected and appreciated. I hadn't ordered from here previously but went based on a friend's recommendation. Ordered 2 large subs and paid around $26. The roll is amazing, very fresh and with sesame seeds which is a nice touch. However, neither sub had much meat in it. The service was quick and we didn't have to wait long for our order considering it was a walk in. There's plexiglass in front of the register so I felt very safe, but I felt like it was a little pricey for the equivalent of Subway sub amount of meat. So, I've walked in an gotten good slices before, but tonight I decided to try delivery. The driver didn't have the pizza. As in did NOT have the actual pizza that I ordered. Although it tasted good, the antipast was in the smallest clamshell container and wasn't cheap, especially compared to others in the area. The wings are fine, but it would be nice to have the pizza at the same time since it's a date night. Walk-in and pick-up might be okay since you can take stock at the time, but even ordering more than an hour ahead on a Thursday will apparently be an ordeal. I'm one of those people who hate to complain, but this is not okay for the cost. If delivery is a detriment, then don't offer it. And the medium pizza was just delivered, and it's tiny. I used to frequent this establishment when I was a sales representative. Many of my accounts were located in Central/Southern-upstate NY (Syracuse, Rochester, Utica & Albany). I would drop in at Palermo, order a few pizzas (the "Sinatra" Pizza was always a big hit when I brought the assorted pizzas to my account located in Utica for lunch). The service is fast and friendly, and the pizza fresh and tasty. If you are ever in Utica, NY, try Palermo's. On a 1-10 scale, the pizzza here is a solid 8.5. Somehow, New Yorker's have figured out how to consistently make a great pizza, unlike us Bostonians. read more

This past Saturday night I was hungry and this was the only pizza place open. I called and asked if they delivered to the North Utica/ Schuyler boarder. They said yes so I order a large cheese pizza and an order of garlic knots. This order was taken at 10:50 PM. and was told a delivery time of 45 minutes. I received a call from a women at 12:06 and asked from my address and directions to my house. I supplied her which the address and the easiest way to get to my house. She then said she is on her way I called the number on the menu at 12:30 and started explaining that it does not take 25 minutes to get to my house from there. The women who answered the phone handed it to a man and said "Im not dealing with rude, bitchy customers tonight". So I yelled at the man and explained the reason for my call and that the women should never answer the phone if she does not want to deal with customers. The man then told me that the women who called for directions was the DRIVERS GIRLFRIEND who was with him. The drivers girlfriend called me back at 12:56 and stated again that she was on her way. I told her that I would not pay full price and I do not want cold pizza. She told me that I am a bitch and she will spit on my pizza. I then hung up and called the number on the menu back. After 15 minutes of calling the man finally picked up and asked if I wanted the pizza. I told him "hell no. Shove that cold, spit on pizza up the drivers girlfriends ass". Got an order of mozzarella sticks and a gyro from there to be delivered late at night (since they're open then). Food took around an hour to arrive. The mozzarella sticks were cold and bland. The gyro was..okay. The meat was good but the "tzatziki" sauce tasted like ranch dressing. The pita was burnt on the edges. Not exactly located in a pretty section of town, Polermo's is run by a first generation Italian family that REALLY knows how to make their pizza. The atmosphere leaves something to be desired -- but how often do you really eat your pizza in the actual restaurant? The pizza is good and greasy but not overly so, the owner -- Tony -- is a really nice guy, and the price is just what it should be. Palermos pizza is very good. My favorite is their Sicilian pizza (thick pizza)! OMG! It's delish! You have to order it at least 45 mins to an hour before you want to pick it up because they have to let the dough rise. If you want to have it delivered which we usually do, allow about 1.5 hours but it's worth it. We've been ordering it for years and it's always consistant. The nicest thing about Palermos is that although the majority of the pizzerias in our area all use the same (Don Peppinos) sauce, Palermos doesn't. I waited an hour and 15 minutes for a small pizza. Then, when the deliver finally came, he told me that he needs proof of my credit card in order for me to receive my food. I have misplaced my card yesterday, so I couldn't provide it. He gave me a lot of attitude and told me that he can't give me the food because he can't prove that I am who I say I am. I have never been asked for a card, all of those times that I have ordered from this place. I called the actual store to let them know what happened, and they told me that they'll contact the driver. Called and complained and got it comped. At 4:19 PM I still don't have my soda so I haven't been able to eat my food. So I call again and inform Tawny that I would like more than my cheese fries comped and am told no. Also, the delivery driver isn't hired by them so it's not their fault. So, tonight a friend and I had ordered dinner from Palermo's at 10:34pm and I am writing the review now at 12:41am. They had just arrived at the campus with my friend's order after I had canceled mine. The conversation I had on the phone with a Tony went very well, and he was polite and apologetic, refunding my money, and offering me a free meal next time I ordered. The delivery person who had came arrived, while casually talking to a friend on the phone, and made a big deal about having to go back to his car for the ranch, he had forgot to bring my friend. When asked the man for his name, he said Boleek, I am not sure if that is his name, or a false name. After talking with Tony Today, and getting things put into place, I was able to feel more satisfied with the resteraunt. I say I'm a fan because they showed great customer services, looking for satisfaction for their faults. The second order came in a timely fashion, and was marvelous. I plan on ordering from them again next Semester at college, and plan to continue ordering from there. read more

Today is March 30th 2021. My husband & I visit to Utica from time to time & always usually order from Here because the food is GOOD. That hasn't changed. However their customer service is the worst. When I called to order my food a guy answered. I told him what I wanted to order he says "anything else" I said no, but I always say Thank you not matter how rude someone is and he says "20 minutes" & hung up on me. So we get to the restaurant we're waiting at their window for about 5 minutes no one comes to the window.. so my husband gets out of the car goes to the door all they have on the door is a sign that says us window after 8pm. So my husband goes back to the window and the woman who goes to the window says can I help you my husband tells her our order... she not once said hold on or okay 1 second. She just closes the window in his face & gets our order. As we pull out of the drive we I notice them finally putting their sign in the door saying use the window. But still didn't take the other one down that says use window after 8. It's just plain rude when people wanna order something & unwelcoming. If you're in a bad mood don't go to work. We probably will not order from them again because there's no reason to take your bad mood out on your customers. read more

About a week ago i ordered 20 wings( gralic and mild) , a sub , chicken tenders and a small pizza. Boy when i got the total i almost had a heart attack. Still i decided i really wanted it, so we got it delivered. They said 30 minutes ,it took 3 times that time. I got the food and it literally was beyond gross. Soggy sub, very nasty wings and a cold pizza. Tonight we were hungry called every pizza shop around us and everyone was beyond busy. All that was left was palerimos. I decided we can give them another chance(maybe they had a rough night a week ago) or so i thought. We ordered small cheese pizza and 20 wings bbq and mild. We were told wait time was an hour and a half . We got the food and it was sooooo cold!!!!we ordered the bbq to be crispy and quess what they defiantly weren't!!! We had to put everything in the oven! And 40 something dollars for just 20 wings and a small pizza is ridiculous!! Especially when we had to wait more time for it to warm up. Of course we called and got excuse after excuse. He did offer us more wings but for what? For us to wait another 2 hours for cold nasty wings. The pizza was dry as can be and the wings barley had any flavor. I'm beyond disappointed! And Palerimos has defiantly lost my business!! I Should've just waited for pizza classic . By far the WORST PLACE !!!! I eat at a lot of different restaurants especially pizzerias and this is by far the worst. The food from here is absolutely discussing, do not order from here. We ordered delivery and they were so cheap that even the salad that came with the food was in a foam bowl covered in saran wrap... The pasta tasted like chef boyardee. They were very late, like always. Beware it will take more then an hour to get to you. They were rude and didn't' care that they got order wrong.
