I've had paletas all of my life and have tried a few of the paleterias around LA county, but this place is literally the best I've had. The dude who attended us was incredibly nice and personable and the paletas themselves are AMAZING. We tried the corn, lemon cookie, and cherry with cream cheese between my girlfriend and I. All three were delicious. I especially like how there are big chunks of the cookies and fruit throughout the paleta so that you can really get a good bite of it. I ordered about 60 popsicles the week of our event. Paleteria Azteca was able to accommodate my last minute request and made it possible. Stephanie was quick to reply and made the process very easy. During pick up, they ran through all the flavors (I had 12) before packaging them individually and labeled them as well which was a huge plus. Love! Definitely a local gem in Tustin. They have a huge variety of paletas (agua, $2 y leche, $2.50) including seasonal and rotating flavors. They're made fresh every day in house. Been hearing about this great ice cream, popsicle mom and pop joint for a while back but only recently did my family and I decide to give it a try. Why, oh, why did we not come as soon as our friends recommended it? There is nothing else that escapes the mouths of my littles other than to say "Mommy, can we please go to Paleteria Azteca?," in their best tongue rolling, multilingual achieving pronunciation. All ice creams and popsicles are made in house and out of fresh ingredients. Here are the few flavors we have tried: AVOCADO (paleta): creamy, strong avocado flavor reminiscent of the avocado, milk and sugar dessert I used to eat back in the homeland. Not too sweet but still tastes good. WALNUT (esquiles): walnut flavored paleta dipped in chocolate and nuts. Yummy, not super sweet and appreciated the packed but combo. STRAWBERRY (paleta, water based): a seeet treat with lots of fresh strawberries to pack a punch PISTACHIO (ice cream): creamy, rich, smooth, sweet, strong pistachio flavor and tons of chopped nuts. If you want pistachio, you will get what you want in this ice cream. PINEAPPLE (paleta, water based): huge chunks of pineapple, this had added sugars and was very refreshing. Yes, there is a fee if you use credit cards but that's part & parcel of small businesses trying to get up and moving. Bring cash instead. Yes, there aren't any chairs or tables to hang out while partaking of the cold treats (City wouldn't allow them). Take it home, take it to the park, be creative or stand outside their doors since you know you can't wait to have that first bite. We love the selection (mind boggling!), the pricing and helping out small businesses. We already came twice in a day and will continue to recommend to all. Around 6 years ago, a friend took me to Santa Maria where I had my first Paleta. It was delicious, creamy, and yet light and refreshing. It was heaven. When we came back to OC, I began a long search for the perfect paletas in OC. The ones from Paleteria Michoacana were decent, but not amazing. Front Porch Pops had an interesting take, but wasn't what I was looking for. Imagine my surprise as the answer to my prayers opens down the street from my apartment. Paleteria Azteca is a small mom and pop shop. If you talk to the owners, you'll realize that it's a labor of love. Everything from the paletas to the ice cream are made fresh daily (no re-branded Thrifty here!). The milk paletas use fresh milk delivered early each morning from local dairies. As of this review, the shop has only been open around 2 months, and yet it has 5 stars at 78 reviews. There's obviously something special here. At $2 - $2.25 per paleta, the prices are ridiculously low for what are hands down my favorite paletas to date. Every time I stop by, I tell myself that "these 6 are enough to last the week for us". But we all know it's a lie, because I'm usually back for more after a couple of days. The addiciton has become so real that the owners are now making me a personal batch of chocolate dipped paletas that I pick up on a weekly basis. A few highlights: + Fresas con Crema (Chocolate Dipped) - Strawberries and cream is one of my favorite profiles, and I'm incredibly picky about foods that attempt it. Paleteria Azteca pulls it off perfectly. It's even better when dipped in smooth dark chocolate. + Elote - Wow. I didn't think corn would be this good in a paleta. Usually, the texture in these is an issue, but somehow they make it work. + Chocolate - I loved fudgcicles growing up. The chocolate paletas take that to a whole new level I didn't even know existed. + Blackberry Cream Cheese - On first bite, the blackberry flavor is a bit much and the seeds are a bit overhwhelming. But as you make your way through, you start getting more and more cream cheese and the flavor/texture transitions as you eat. It's an interesting experience. + Peaches and Cream - My girlfriend's favorite. Another classic flavor profile that's hard to pull off right, but done well here. If I had to talk about a negative, it would be the parking. Paleteria Azteca is located in a small plaza that usually isn't very busy. However, there have been a few occasions where every spot is inexplicably full (and some spaces double parked). It's a bit odd since there aren't really any high volume stores / restaurants there. But don't let that deter you, because this place is the real deal and the Paletas are so very much worth your time. read more

We are fans of their popsicles: they come in a large variety of flavors, always delicious, never overly sweet, just right. A fun variety of flavors -- and discovered they offer not only popsicles but ice cream, too! Appreciatively not too sweet. While I thought they offered a wide-and-attractive -- and fresh -- selection and the service was wonderfully friendly and welcoming (4.5-5 stars for selection and customer service!), overall we thought the flavors were just OK (expected more of its fruit flavor on the avocado popsicle). This is a hidden gem! It's tucked in a corner on the other side by Taco Factory. Opened just 8 months ago. It's family owned and husband/wife are usually there working. There are 2 options of popsicles: water based (for those who are lactose intolerant) and milk based for creamier texture. It's all fresh ingredient and made in store. It's also super delicious!!! Most original MANGONEADA I have had in oc. This mangoneada can be a classic mangoneada if you want... but I suggest you personalize it and make it original. They offer mango, strawberry, Tamarindo and lime sorbet as well as a couple others. I mixed 3 flavors that I thought would be good together to get the best flavors. First they added chamoy to the inside of the cup and coated it well from the inside. I had them place lime sorbet at the bottom followed by Tamarindo sorbet in the middle and topped with mango sorbet. Then I had them squeeze and extra lime on top of the sorbet for and extra kick. They added tajin and more chamoy on the mango sorbet and added the classic Tamarindo straw to finish my creation. This means I can have any of the awesome sorbets and have them treat it like classic mangoneada. Haven't found any other place that does this. Also everything u eat there is made there. U can see the them making the syrups anf mixtures through a window. Total mom and pop shop. The paletas were so freaking good now I have to come back and have all of the unique classic paletas. It would be a shame to miss out on such a great treat. I am recommending this to everyone I know. Oh and Sorry Joes Italian ice... I found a new spot... We made it in yesterday...I had two the Guayaba and Tamarindo. My son went with two as well the Oreo and the Cafe paletas. They looked just as the pictures and the taste phenomenal.
