I was excited to try this Asian inspired dessert shop located in the 4th St Market but the hours are a bit sporadic so I finally made it out recently. Santa Ana downtown is all metered street parking so be prepared to pay for parking. The stand is located right in front of the market so it isn't too hard to find. It's in the market so there's open seating and can get quite loud if there's a lot of people. Unfortunately, I was greeted very poorly when I got here. No one was available to help and periodically she would yell over to see if I was ready to order in a very bad tone. When I asked about the cheesecake selection, she said "you have to wait 30 min." I then asked what flavor it is and she said "pandan pineapple" in an annoyed tone. I asked if there were any other flavors and she said "no because I still need to decorate. You should really come later at night." I'm used to bakeries selling out later in the day but I guess it's opposite here. As if it couldn't get worse, I asked her if there are any coffees she recommended, and she said "viet coffee." I then said viet coffee is usually too strong for me and asked if there were any other recommendations and she doubled down and used a horrible tone to say "I already said I recommend the viet coffee." Therefore I opted to just not order coffee at this time. I ended up still ordering 2 cookies: miso toffee which was too firm and the ube coconut which actually was well balanced and had a nice coconut filling. Microbakery but macrotasty! Yup I made that word up too heh. I'm new to the 4th Street market so I admit I had to ask around to find this place amidst all the other vendors in this indoor mini-plaza. We typically avoid downtown areas because of their hustle-bustle and lack of parking. But we finally made it. Their flavors are unique and I applaud them for that. Ever since coming back from visiting Japan for the first time, I've been craving matcha everything, and I lamented not bringing more matcha cookies home from their 7-11 (their 7-11 is no joke, it's a snack heaven). When Yelp-searching for matcha cookies here back at home in the OC, only two legit results came up and this was the closer one. Upon our first visit we were disappointed to find they were sold out, which I should've expected. On our second visit we found they had had switched over to a rice Krispies version of it and other flavors, which weren't bad but I just really wanted my cookie heh. But as is often the case, 3rd time's a charm, the rice Krispies version was only temporary and they reverted back to the cookie. So I finally got it! Decent matcha flavor. Strawberry icing top center which complemented and did not overwhelm the matcha. The texture was just a little off, not as chewy as I would've liked, but I bet would've been better had we come earlier in the day. I thank them for saving this for us though! Yup we even called ahead of time to check inventory this time. Would I try it again? Uh, ya we ordered three more the following visit hah. Re: the other flavors, our favorites so far have been the yuzu early grey (cuz who with a tarty-palate doesn't love yuzu these days) and salty toffee (cuz who doesn't love sweet & salty, actually my kids don't heh). I've probably tried every single item on the menu, and always run over Christal bakes something new. My favorites are the hojicha tiramisu, Vietnamese coffee tiramisu, matcha tiramisu, and strawberry matcha cookie. There are tiramisu flights and cookie flights so you can try different flavors. They also take orders for their tiramisu as full size round cakes and I plan on ordering one for my mom's birthday. The worker was kind enough to let us sample different tiramisus before we purchased one. I tried the banana foster one which was also really good but ended up purchasing the matcha tiramisu. The matcha tiramisu was quite delicious though there was a slight unenjoyable bitter aftertaste and grittiness to the soaked ladyfingers that made me dock a star. Also got the strawberry matcha cookie though again there was that bitterness in their matcha and also the strawberry glaze in the middle was on the sour side, which I thought did not pair that well with the cookie personally. Only giving 4 stars because I was so disappointed with the Banana Foster Tiramisu. I was really hoping to love it (it looked amazing!) but unfortunately, the flavor reminded me of nail polish. :/ I ordered the cookies too--and wow, they were outstanding! I tried the miso chocolate chip, pandan, Vietnamese mocha, and ube coconut. Every single one was delicious. I also ordered the ube and Vietnamese coffee tiramisus, so hopefully those taste better than the banana foster! Shoutout to Edward--he was super nice and helpful. This place is right when you enter through the door.  It has a cute little corner and a beautiful display case.   I wanted to try everything.  The people who work here are super nice and helpful.  The lady took the time to explain to me the flavors of the cookies.  We both shared the idea of how everything ube or cookies and cream can be overrated. These are the items I ordered: Sesame rocky road - It was nutty, almost like a peanut butter rocky road Vietnamese coffee - Delicious and chocolatey.  The coffee flavor is addicting Strawberry matcha:  First bite and smell you can taste the matcha and the rich earthiness of it.   Then it gets followed by the sweetness and tart of the strawberry Miso chocolate chip cookie:  I'm not going to lie. I was hesitant about this because of the miso.  After a while, I was talking to the lady who helped me. She explained it wasn't the thick saltiness kind of flavor from drinking miso soup.  It's actually really subtle.  It tasted like a salted chocolate chip cookie Mango passionfruit tiramisu :  First bite felt sweet, next was tart.  I was so amazed by the flavors that I couldn't stop eating it.  For some reason, I thought it was going to have coffee in it.   When I looked back at the picture, I realized what was going on. The flavors throughout made up the tiramisu. Matcha tiramisu:  This was silky smooth, and the matcha flavors just popped out at you.  It wasn't overly strong, but something about it was so comforting. My favorite was the strawberry matcha cookie and matcha tiramisu.  I surprisingly didn't think I'd like it this much.   I always tend to favor anything mango or chocolate. These are some of the best cookies I've ever had! I got three to try - Vietnamese Mocha, Yuzu Earl Grey, and Miso Chocolate Chip. Each cookie is $2.85 but they do offer 2 for $5, 3 for $7.50, or 4 for $10 (plus tax) Vietnamese Mocha (4/5) - This was very soft and chewy and you can definitely taste the mocha and hints of espresso. A little buttery but not too overpowering! Yuzu Earl Grey (4/5) - Loved the Earl Grey flavor and the Yuzu frosting on top definitely complements it. Miso Chocolate Chip (5/5) - Definitely my overall favorite. The cookie is kept on a warming plate so it's extremely soft and gooey when you first bite into it. If you want you green tea flavor its a strong green tea flavor, if you want yuzu, bam you got it, if you want coffee, is a bold coffee cookie. I haven't tasted anything artificial or just mere ingredients to make "flavoring." My husband and I would often come in the evening when most of the delicious cookies are sold out. By the time we arrive most of the top or popular cookies are sold out but despite the ones we do end up getting are still super delicious. I can't imagine how it would be if we caught up to the flavors that usually sell out earlier. We have visited here about 3-4x now and we love that their flavors switch out. Picked up a few cookies from here. We really enjoyed them- interesting flavor combos. I like that the cookies weren't overly huge or overly heavy. I'm not into overly indulgent cookies like crumbl. They change their flavors seasonally too and also sell various types of tiramisu. YUMMMMM the Asian inspired cheesecakes and cookies here are so good!!!! Our favorite cookie was the early gray yuzu, which had a prominent earl gray flavor and mixed well with citrus flavor. Also loved the Vietnamese mocha which was chocolately, and the miso chocolate cookie. The strawberry matcha was very strawberry in flavor and we didn't taste much of the matcha. My boyfriend was in the Santa Ana area and got some yummy baked goods from Baked Banhs. The biscoff canele combined two of my favorite things and I think it worked! The canele was crispy and caramel-y on the outside with a chewy inside. The biscoff filling was rich but also featured crunchy cookie bits. I will say that may because of the filling, the inside of the canele was a little on the moist side, but overall it was tasty with the textural contrasts and combination of flavors! At first I didn't think too much about the cookies but it wasn't until my second bite that I realized they had a filling in the middle! The ube coconut was probably favorite out of the two I tried. The coconut flakes brought out the ube flavors and had a new chew. The pandan had a pineapple filling in the middle that grew on me. Baked Banhs is the cutest little microbakery located in the 4th Street Market known for their thoughtfully crafted cookies and Asian inspired desserts. The storefront is in the front half of the market so it's easy to spot- also, it's easier to eat dessert before dinner (just saying). I'm more of a chewy, soft texture cookie gal. So this cookie was right up my alley. Flavorwise, its not too sweet with a nice salty component that evens out the palate. The miso flavor is subtle so you can still appreciate the deep rich chocolate notes. The Ube cheesecake is equally as impressive. The contrast in the starchy ube base compared to the cream cheese makes each bite enjoyable through and through. The white icing on top was delicious as well adding a sweeter component to the not-so-sweet cheesecake. I could do with less of the icing though. The cheesecake is fabulous all on its own. Service is super friendly and sweet. Theres a large amount of seating within the 4th Street Market so you can grab some cookies and catch up with some friends. I noticed the tiramisu upon arriving and was intrigued by the variety of Asian flavors: Thai tea, Vietnamese coffee, ube, and matcha. It took me a few minutes but we I ended up with choosing their recommended top flavor: Vietnamese coffee. They also serve many cookie flavors: miso chocolate chip cookies, earl gray yuzu cookies, viet mocha cookie, matcha strawberry cookies, and so on. There was a deal: 2 for $5 cookies. Cookie size is not as big but the crazy flavors are interesting. The cashier recommended the miso chocolate chip and yuzu early gray cookies. We fell in love with the viet coffee tiramisu! These cookies are delicious and big!! I ordered the Strawberry Matcha, Yuzu Earl Grey, & Miso Chocolate Chip. My top favorite was the strawberry Matcha- I love how earthy it tastes with the sweet strawberry drizzle on top. Yuzu earl grey has a nice strong earl grey flavor with the citrus flavor shining through. Miso Chocolate Chip is always a solid flavor. All of the cookies are fresh and soft. The store is located inside the 4th Street Market & service is quick and friendly. I'll be back to try more treats from here! read more

Husband and I stopped by just a few minutes ago for the first time, and we're already obsessed. The spot looks super clean and inviting, which made a great first impression. We tried the Dubai Chocolate Basque Cheesecake and wow... it's so good. The texture is unreal. You almost can't tell if you're eating cheesecake, mousse cake, or even a bit like ice cream. It honestly feels like a little piece of heaven in every bite. The service was just as lovely. She took the initiative to help bag our other food and included extra utensils without us even asking, which was such a nice touch. I also appreciated that their packaging seemed eco-friendly. It's rare that we come across Cream Puffs with a whipped cream filling (vs. all or part custard filled). Everything we ordered was delicious: the Cream Puffs (4/$9.50), the Ube Basque Cheesecake ($7.50), and the cookie assortment!! Found this place inside the 4th street market, It's right at the entrance when you walk in, can't miss it. I really like the cookie options that are available at this place. So far I've tried the Strawberry Matcha, Vietnamese Mocha, and Yuzu cookie. All of them are really good. My favorite was probably the mocha one. The yuzu one is interesting, I think there's sichuan pepper in there or something but it gives the cookie a unique taste that is definitely worth a shot. I love the creativity of the options and would definitely stop by again if I'm in the area. Service was quick and friendly. read more
