This dish was relatively plain with no sauce and just lemon. We asked our server for some sauce to pair with calamari - a tomato basil sauce came out - and it made the dish much more tastier. 2. Had the absolute pleasure of going to Palma Restaurant last night from the Ambience to the warm welcome from staff, to seeing one of the Great Chefs of NYC for the last 40 years. What a exquisite meal each bite was a trip to Italy. The flavors so true so well done I was in heaven. The appetizers were all eaten before we could take any pictures unfortunately, the melon & Prosciutto were perfect then the Chef sent out arancini made to perfection you could see & taste the sauce inside and the fresh ciliegina mozzarella taste was phenomenal. We wanted at least 10 more lol . Chef Angelo sent out a simple Spaghetti & Vongole that was made in Heaven , too perfection. No one talked until each dish was finished, then my son in law said that was absolutely delicious and believe me he's a tough customer. My husband was blown away as my daughter. The pasta was a perfect al'dente with the flavor of Summer of the Ocean. I will leave it at this scrumptious. The entrée was then brought out. The presentation was beautiful. The first bite was unbelievable delicate delicious chef Angelo did fish with cannellini beans from Italy and delicate little cherry tomatoes. Fantastic I make sure I cleanse my palate before trying each presentation to get the full effect of taste, and I was not disappointed . Next was the desert, all handmade and prepared by Chef Angelo a semi Fredo of almonds with fresh cherry sauce unbelievable not overpowering, not sugary, but the truth, flavor of almonds and cherries to perfection. I will start by saying that this was not our first choice while in the West Village in search of Italian food but I'm glad we ended up going. Nestled on the now famous-because-of-Taylor-Swift Cornelia Street, this restaurant somewhat sneaks up on you. We found the entrance and walked inside on a Friday around 6pm without a reservation. We got a bottle of sangiovese which was, in all honestly, one of the more inexpensive bottles at $63. It was delicious and went well with our pappardelle pastas so I won't complain. MAJOR props to the calamari dish. Never have I had calamari that was so light and crispy at the same time. The batter was not overpowering on the items within the dish and stuck to it still.
