Went for brunch, was disappointed and underwhelmed. First of all, they said they had no espresso, only drip coffee (which was 4$). Second they had no savory vegetarian menu items on the brunch menu. I ordered the banana sourdough pancakes, which were decent pancakes, but came with 3 slices of banana. The blackberry sauce also was well flavored and not too sweet, but socked so throughly into the pancakes some of the bites were soaked and some were dry, although they were decent, overall it felt ridiculously overpriced (18$!) for the quality and portion size. Save to say I would not recommend. I did try the churros as well, which were well fried and delicious, but not worth the visit read more

Unfortunately I cannot make comments about the food or drinks at this restaurant! A group of us went there for drinks and early appetizers just when they opened at 5pm. We had made a reservation. But when we got there, they refused to seat us since we were 'such a large group'! Well, they knew we were a large group when we booked! They then said they had 'no tables'. But when a party of 6 walked up when we were there, and did NOT have reservations, they were welcomed! We offered to break up into smaller groups to get tables, but still were refused!! We celebrated our two year anniversary here! The atmosphere was cozy and intimate and then menus offered so many delicious options. We went with the wagyu tri tip and the Santa Barbara chicken. If you're deciding between the two, I'd say splurge a little more and get the wagyu tri tip! It was so good! I always hear people talk about good cuts of beef and how you can taste the beefiness of it. I didn't know what they were talking about until I had a bite of the tri tip. The waiters will also recommend sides. I suggest to listen to them. They said that the slaw pairs super well with both entrees. We ended up ordering side of slaw and the ranch cut fries. The fries were really good, but wow were they right about the slaw! They also recommended something else, but I don't remember what it was called. We also ordered a margarita (Bird of Paradise) and a seasonal limeade. Both were very good, especially the margarita. It was the best margarita I've ever had! Definitely check this place out! We came with 2 people around 6pm on a Thursday and were sat immediately by a very nice host who also came around to take our drink order. Our server Olivia then came by and gave us a great history of the restaurant. Our appetizers and drinks came out within 5 minutes of ordering. My husband and I finally got to try La Paloma after a few recommendations to come here. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a couple drinks and appetizers. We had the hibiscus margarita and the Paloma - both were great. The bartender, Jorge, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the different mezcals and tequilas. We tried the shishito peppers and the pozole. It's hard to find pozole verde so we were excited to try it and it did not disappoint. We will be back! read more

We were very excited to try la Paloma since the other restaurants owned by the group are fantastic. We made a reservation and were seated on the patio. The menu is simple and not overbearing with too many options. We ordered the artichoke, carnitas, and the tri tip. We also ordered a few sides to share (not necessary but fun to try- slaw, fries, and hominy). Everything was delicious! Tortillas were recommended for the carnitas so we could make tacos. Delicious! The only downside to the whole experience was it took 45 minutes to get our drink order in. Our server did say he was new and the restaurant is new so i have hope the service kinks get worked out. Last night we had an amazing experience at La Paloma restaurant we had made the reservation a few days before and had even gotten a phone call to confirm we arrived a bit early to enjoy the happy hour and the Hibiscus margarita was perfection. The service was stellar. Everyone from Lily, who served our drinks, the hostess finding us our table quickly, and even the server assistant giving us info on the amazing Shishido pepper app. Our server, Gabby, who was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and attentive to our needs made our night out extra special. The manager, Bobby, was the perfect balance of professional and personable. We decided to eat family style which was a great choice. Despite the restaurant being mostly full and a private party going on it still felt like a quaint dinner with friends. Top notch service, and the flavors and textures of the dishes were epic. I will tell everyone and can't wait to go back! In a time where restaurants are short staffed and good servive is hard to come by, La Paloma is doing it right. read more

What a lovely, classic restaurant! I had the privilege of ordering takeout from this great new place tonight. I found the place to look much like its prior tenant, Paradise Cafe (which was a favorite of mine), but was definitely refreshed and modern. The owner did a great job restoring the place to its original charm. It looked super authentic, I was impressed. Service was friendly and I felt the ladies whom had assisted me did a great job. I ordered a bowl of the vegetable pozole along with a side of garlic bread and a margarita. All items were exceptional. The bread had a Tex Mex-meets-Santa Maria flavor, so good. The pozole was incredibly flavorful and certainly rivaled my grandma's recipe. The margarita was absolutely delicious and totally hit the spot after a long workday. I just about died and went to Heaven. This was our first sit-down meal in almost a year (thanks Covid!). But it was well worth the wait. The service was impeccable (Thank Louie) and Chefs Jeremy and Louie are killing it! We were there for Valentine'S Day and got the Prix Fixe menu. The ceviche melted in our mouth, and the squash blossom masa chicken tamales and trI-tip were to die for. Literally every part of the meal was Incredible. The food was very good. We got a bunch of appetizers and starters to go and I liked almost everything. I also got the Pork Shoulder Carnitas and it was sooo tender and delicious. I do think everything was a little on the salty side but luckily they have a bar to help quench any thirst! And, that may be partly do to my palate being deprived with my own cooking this last year :) The kids burrito was not really a hit with ours. It was a lot of rice and pretty dry. I would be sure to get some salsa (if they have it) to wet that up if you get it. Luckily we had that covered at home. Paloma is now serving Brunch! We've loved the dinner menu and were very excited to see what the chef did with his modern take on "Californio" breakfast. Takes on classic Mexican dishes, with creative and flavorful surprises. We started with the baked brie garnished w mezcal pickled kumquats. Inspired by Julia Child, who loved this location, we thought it was playful and delicious. The farmers market fruit plate was clearly the finest and freshest from the day and we loved the savory "chicken and waffle" as an app to share. Huevos, burnt ends bowl and pasole with a mezcal sidecar were all resounding successes, very impressive and beautifully presented. Our server, Bobby was professional, gracious and a pleasure to speak to. Clearly invested and proud of the food. All the brunch cocktails were fresh and packed a punch. There isn't a space in SB that I can think of with as much charm and "neighborhoody" appeal. I've been here twice now and both times have been exemplary experiences! The newly renovated outdoor space is lovely with plenty of heaters to keep diners comfortable, but it is the food and the staff that will keep me coming back. We shared a La Paloma salad that was fresh and delicious with a perfect crunch of pumpkin seeds and the thinnest sliced apples that are the perfect combination. The Mission chicken that has been brined for many hours, is the most tender and flavorful chicken I have ever had. I HIGHLY recommend! Loved the atmosphere; was hoping for the patio since it was early but they were booked - it's a great patio so plan ahead. Sat in the bar and super-comfortable in there with tons of ambiance and great music. I found the sound a bit loud but the waiter turned it down for me and was very accommodating and it was much better for intimate conversation. Highly recommend the potato/zucchini tacos; absolutely delish and the texture was on point; nice and crispy. The black bean puree it sat on was delicious as well and a nice value. Artichoke was delish. They had a $15 margarita menu which I appreciated since it's affordable and not over the top - and the presentation on the margaritas was purdy. Met the chef, Jerome who was available and helpful and super friendly with everyone. I'm a local and haven't been to Paloma in ages but when I return it's for a margarita and potato tacos!
