Yummy! They also have dulce de Leche and chocolate flavor

Came here because the Nuevo Leon Bakery doesn't carry tres leches. This places has 3 flavors of tres leches: regular vanilla, caramel, and chocolate. From the look of the milk in the bottom, it seems like that the cake would be really sweet, but surprisingly it's not! I personally don't like the ones with too much condensed milk in the bottom. A slice is $3 and it's good for two people to share.

I love pan!! When I saw this place, I had to go in. It's small and it smelled like they had just got done baking all the fresh bread. You get a tray and some tongs, then go and pick what ever pan you want from the cases. There are so many to chose from so good luck getting just a few pieces. I got two empanadas (pineapple and apple) and a concha. They were so good. The concha was super soft and very flavorful and the empanadas were flaky and soft on the inside with lots of fruit.

Splurged on the family this weekend and got a tres leches cake for all! It was a great way to end the weekend on a beautiful sweet note! This cake is hands down the best tres leches cake I have ever had! If you don't think so... get a hold of me... I will refund your purchase... jk! Even though no one would ever think that this was not best! It is just sweet enough and it is just liquidy enough and the cake still has great texture to it!!! Perfect balance!!!

Guava empanada - SO JUICY

So I was looking for a nice bakery to pick up some treats for my hubby and I. Found them on Yelp and decided to give them a shot. Looks like a nice, family-owned type of place. Everyone was friendly and answered all my questions about the products (and I had many questions). I settled on a couple of fruit empanadas (guava and pineapple), a strawberry yo-yo, a pink pan dulce, an almond muffin, and a guava-filled puff pastry (can't remember name). The empanadas were very filled with fruit and very tasty!!! I want mooore! The pan dulce was soft and tender. The puff pastry thing was just alright; I probably wouldn't that again. It was all puff pastry and just a dab of guava. I haven't tried the muffin or the yo-yo yet but I am excited to see how they are. Can't wait to go back to this bakery to get some more of those juicy empanadas!

This was such a short walk from my Airbnb so i figures I give it a go since there were so many reviews and it was an /amazing/ choice. You can't go wrong with anything here. Croissants if you like airy, buttery tastes. The pineapple flavored what looks like empanadas? Whatever it was, it was a pocket full of crunchy pastry dough on the outside and gorgeous, gooey pineapple filling on the inside. There were also these huge blocks of fluffy sweet bread that were only a dollar. So worth; I definitely recommend the (cream) cheese and the pineapple. Lastly, I always have to try a bakery's simple doughnut. They have one that's not glazed but coated in granulated sugar and it was amazing. I could only imagine what it would taste like if I microwaved it for a hot second and served it with some ice cream. Every item I got for a $1 a STEAL. Thank you for the good eats!!!! ‍

This panaderia is amazing, hands down! Very good price & even better taste. A hidden gem in Pilsen that everyone should visit. My family recently bought our Día de Reyes rosca here and it's the best tasting rosca we've ever had.

Friendly service! Great Mexican bakery. I pre-ordered the Rosca the Reyes and got the guava & cream cheese. Everyone liked it.

The green and white color palette immediately reminded me of Ralph's Coffee. It felt classic and polished but still charming. Everyone working there had a smile on their face, and the warmth felt so genuine and comforting, especially first thing in the morning. They had such a huge selection of pastries and cakes that it was honestly hard to choose. I ended up getting the cake shaped like a cherry because it looked so interesting. It was a black cherry cake and I paired it with a cappuccino. It was the perfect combination. The cake was beautiful and tasted just as good as it looked. We also ordered the breakfast burrito, which came with a small side salad. It was fine, but not the standout for me. If I came back, which I would, I would probably stick to the pastries and coffee and try more of their baked goods instead. Service was amazing. The ambience was adorable. I loved how all the silverware, plating, and dinnerware matched that perfect green tone. Every detail felt intentional. It was just perfect.

They had some…read morelimited-time St. Patrick's Day specials that caught my friend's eye, including the Pot of Gold, a special dessert only available for the weekend. The food was really excellent, as was the service. But it was ridiculously priced. The reuben sandwich was $28. It was a great sandwich, very lean, but you could get a sandwich as good for half the cost elsewhere. They only have a couple of kid's items, but my friend requested buttered noodles for her kid rather than the cheesy noodles. I got the hibiscus drink and lavender lemonade, both non-alcoholic, and they were very good. My little one especially liked the hibiscus. And we ordered the appetizer of whipped ricotta and honey; my daughter liked this more than anything else we ordered. We didn't have dessert at the restaurant, but ordered to go. The pot of gold was really good. There were little "gold nuggets" on it and that was my daughter's favorite part; good thing since I didn't realize it had a layer with Bailey's in it. It was very rich, and the cauldron was really thick chocolate (and actually was a struggle to get into, a bit!). The restaurant is small but it didn't feel crowded. We never felt rushed or unwelcome, and we were there for a couple hours (longer than I realized; it took an unusually long time to make two reuben sandwiches). Their pastries are really nice but somewhat expensive, like the rest of the menu. It was a nice, sophisticated experience.

Desserts are life! And Verzenay is the lifeline…read more My love for flaky pastries and aesthetic desserts led me to find Verzenay. I always look for a patisserie whenever visiting a new city, and after scouring for hours, nothing in Chicago really caught my eye except for Verzenay. Other spots had basic desserts, but Verzenay had a wide selection of interesting dessert flavors along with coffee, teas and a brunch menu. Royale 5/5* Very similar to the Opera cake, but with hazelnut instead of coffee buttercream. This was so decadent. The feuilletine was crisp, delicate, and buttery and perfectly balanced out the creaminess of the hazelnut praline and chocolate. Pistachio Escargot 5/5* So flaky and crispy. The lamination on this pastry is unreal. So many layers. Desi Valour 4/5* Wow you can really taste the cardamom. It was an interesting mix of flavors. The carrots were so caramelized it was almost like a fruit chutney. You would never have known it was carrots. Saffron rice crisp at the bottom was really hard to cute through with a plastic knife, but Passionfruit Ricotta Cake Slice 4/5* Eaten immediately at the cafe, it was cold and so refreshing, light, and perfect summer flavors. The passion fruit was tart, and Butterbean smooth, fluffy, and not overwhelmingly sweet. When eaten later though, it somehow tasted way too sweet. There is a reason Verzenay is rated so high. Beautiful presentation, decadent flavors, and perfect indulgence on a nice sunny afternoon.

We came for lunch and enjoyed their mushroom and gruyere grilled cheese. Perfect! Lots of gooey cheese and the mushrooms were full of flavor. Not leave without any sweets, we tried both the eclair and Paris-Brest. The Paris-Brest is the way to go and well worth the price. It is quite large, full of light and fluffy hazelnut cream. Do get! Service was excellent - our food was prompt and the cashier was extremely friendly.

My daughter loves strawberries and tried the strawberry croissant and enjoyed it. I tried the hash brown ham and cheese croissant, because I prefer savory over sweet. I did not enjoy it. I had to take it back to the counter to have it warmed up, it still wasn't that warm . It would taste better warm, so I would not recommend this savory pastry. The ketchup on top did not accompany the pastry well. I was not impressed. I'd try this place again, but definitely get something different. Pros: the individual pastry tongs to grab your pastry and then you take it the counter so they are cleaned, this keeps it very clean.

We loved the ham and cheese croissants and fresh-out-of-the-oven spinach pie so much that we couldn't resist a couple mini-macarons to top off our lunch. Wow. To top it all off, when we commented on the delish spinach börek, head pastry chef Nicolai invited us to gear up for a quick tour of the kitchen! Gleamingly clean and organized, it is an envy to all who cook and bake. There is magic made there, believe me. The staff in and out of the kitchen were helpful and so very pleasant, we had no trouble at all deciding to come back at the end of our day at Navy Pier to see them again and enjoy their incomparable iced summer fruit teas. (I want the recipes! Sooooo good.) Thanks to Nicolai and the two Marias for efficiently packing up our additional macarons and spinach börek to take home.
