    Mangonada
    Zain P.

The best item here is definitely the mangonada! You won't be disappointed and I guarantee you won't be able to finish it all in one sitting. There usually is a small line but it moves fast! Another great item is the yogurt with fruit, and you can personally choose the fruit. the ambiance is lively as well as there is tons of traffic in and around this area in the summertime!

The service was excellent and really fast. The food was fresh and good and I will definitely be back.

My partner and I stopped by La Michoacana in Pilsen over the weekend, and we were so impressed! I had the strawberries and cream agua fresca, and it was absolutely delicious and refreshing--it instantly took me back to my time in Monterrey, Mexico. My partner had a mango and coconut ice cream cone, and both flavors were perfectly balanced--not too sweet, just pure, fresh goodness. You can really tell they make everything with love! On top of the amazing treats, the customer service was fantastic--friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. We'll definitely be coming back for more!

We came for a quick snack as we know that La Michoacana never disappoints. We ordered at the kiosk and picked up our snacks and it was as simple as that! Everything was tasty as expected but the star of the show was really the gaspacho. Every bite had the perfect combination of fruit, sweet, savory, spicy and juicy! You really can't go wrong!

This is my go-to spot for dessert! The staff are amazing and efficient (although there's sometimes a language barrier), and the inside (and outside) is so cute! My usual items include the yogurt (original yogurt with strawberries, mangoes, and kiwi w/ pecans as toppings), a mangonada, elote (corn w/ butter, cheese, and chili), and Cheetos w/ cheese. I've brought my grandma, parents, sister, friends, etc. here and everyone always enjoys their treats. It is a must try!! TIP: They have a variety of fruits and toppings to choose from for the yogurt. There are also different flavor yogurts. You have to experiment a couple times to see what your favorite combo is (but everything will be fresh and delicious!).

I've visited this gem a few times over the years for their delicioso Mangonadas. Today, I decided to try the Doritolocos... and go with my small mangonada later. So let me start with this place is always clean and the people there are always friendly and professional. I sat outside and enjoyed my amped up doritos nachos in a bag outside. I was interrupted twice by people walking by and commenting so I think I gave them some extra business while there. The doritolocos is alot but pretty good! I couldn't finish it all but the bites I had were flavorful. I could have done without the pork in it. I'm not sure what kind it is exactly but the look of it reminded me of.... calamari. Anyway, would get this again with out. My mangonada was perfection as always. I'll be there again soon.

The choices are endless whether you are looking for a cone, cup, fresh agua, yogurt parfait, ice cream and popsicle treat, among other hot and salty snacks. This ice cream/snack shop in the heart of Pilsen has something for everyone. Get creative with your tastebuds, all treats are made fresh to order and with all the best ingredients. Smoothies and yogurts made with fresh produce cut right in front of you. Enjoy your yummy snack inside or out on one of the table swings. Immerse yourself in the culture of Mexicana and don't forget to tip the staff, they are so friendly, and hardworking....and never without a smile. Will be back over and over again!

    Strawberries and Cream

Just so, so good. Dozens of flavors of ice cream and paletas (popsicles) to choose from. There's something for everyone here. The guava ice cream is particularly good. If you are a salty-sweet-sour person, try the mangonada, a slushy-like dessert that features the intense flavor combination of mango, chili, and tamarind. And if you're really feeling like a treat, order the fresas con crema (strawberries and cream). That's really all it is. Sweetened cream, with a consistency somewhere in between condensed milk and heavy cream, poured over sliced strawberries. Eat with a spoon. I'm pretty sure that's about as close to heaven as any of us will ever get.

Coffee ICE CREAM (MILK)/ NIEVES DE LECHE

Didn't allow me to get sample. Had to get whatever flavor without knowing how it tastes first. The coffee beans in the ice cream were not grounded. Had to actually chew the beans.

Fresh torta and elotes! Plenty of parking out front! Not sure how it is when it's busy as we came super early. Super polite and helpful employees. The only compliant is the amount of water at the bottom of the cup of corn. I like mine with more Mayo and cheese if anything. Would come back tho!

This is a relaxed ice cream bar with every flavor ice cream, popsicle and drink flavor you could imagine. They feature over 50 flavors literally and the majority of the flavors are uniquely Mexican like pine nut, cucumber, mango chili, papaya etc... We tried the tamarind and papaya flavors which were very good. They have outdoor seating and plenty of colorful indoor seating too. There is a flavor of ice cream and cold drink for everyone!

The Ferrero popsicle was unassuming, yet deliciously satisfying! This place was a fun treat and would recommend to anyone in and near Pilsen to try for dessert.

I wish I was able to travel with one of their cheesecakes but they require refrigeration. Anyhow the cheesecake itself was delicious super light, fluffy, and honestly felt like biting into a cloud. I had the salted egg but they had several flavor options that I would've loved to try if slices were available. The texture is what really stands out, and the flavor was unique and interesting in a good way. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it taste like, but it was sweet, but not too sweet They only sale but I consider a personal size but it's definitely enough to share with two people, maybe even three depending on how much of a sweet tooth you have. My only downside like others is the price. Paying around $19-$20 for a small cheesecake felt a bit steep, especially since they don't offer slices. I really wish they had smaller portions available so you could try different flavors without committing to a full cake prize. They package it very well and they also serve you a cute little fork set and a knife for cutting which I think is contributes to the price. The shop itself is very cute with chic décor and a lot of Asian-inspired artwork, which adds to the overall vibe. Customer service was friendly. When I visit Chicago again I'd definitely go back the texture and taste alone make it worth it but I do hope they consider offering smaller portions in the future.

One thing I personally did not like was that they require customers to pay first before the food comes out. For a sit-down restaurant, I prefer to eat first and pay after, especially when service is expected. The service was not very proactive during our visit. The food was okay, but nothing really stood out to me. For the price, I felt it was a little pricey compared to Taipei Cafe, and the overall experience did not feel worth it. The taiwanese style popcorn chicken and pork cutlet were super juicy and tender with nicely crisp breading. Finally, the broth of the Sichuan noodles was packing with flavor: sweet, tangy, spicy, umami - truly hit all the spots without being too numbing to your mouth, if thats one of your concerns Would definitely return to try the other menu items, especially their hot sizzling plates and their dessert/drink offerings
