We rode our motorcycles in for a quick breakfast on Tuesday and we're surprised to find out that all menu items are five dollars on Tuesday. Had a delicious western omelette with hashbrowns and three huge pancakes my hubby had a southwestern omelette and pancakes and hashbrowns and coffee came to a whopping $13. Visited Pancake Cafe in Stoughton for the first and last time today with my family. It's the first time in many years that I have tipped less than 15%...I know very well just how tough it can be to provide good table service and was completely underwhelmed by the effort that the staff was able to put forward. Very modular approach to service - a hostess to seat the table, one server to take the order, another to deliver the (incomplete) order, nobody to service the table during the meal, and the original order taker to deliver the bill. Modular approaches can sometimes work very well, but it seems to me it definitely isn't working here. The owners need to seriously consider a major overhaul of their service management approach. Prices were high for the fare - we paid $30 for the three of us for 2 half-orders of pancakes, an order of eggs benedict, and one cup of coffee. After a long wait, our meal was served first to a wrong table but was brought to us before it was actually set down at the other table. No syrup was served with the pancakes (!) and the order was missing an ordered side, a single fried egg. After being promised by the server to deliver the missing egg and syrup, she disappeared and was not seen again. After waiting for a stupid amount of time for the server to reappear, I approached one of the hosts to ask for syrup, which was then promptly delivered. The egg was lost to the ages, never delivered, and we had it deducted from the bill in the end. The restaurant was *very* noisy, with virtually no attention given in the design of the restaurant toward managing noise levels. Conversation across the table requires real effort to hear and to be heard. A trip to the restroom sealed my impression of the place. Smelled as though they might have had a dry drain pipe - smelled strongly of raw sewage and the smell was easily detectable from outside of the bathroom. Seemed clean enough on the inside, not visibly dirty, but it made me fear for my health from the sewer gas in there! The food that did eventually arrive was tasty, but only average. First time at the Pancake Cafe and it won't be the last. Drew, the GM, was at the door greeting everyone and being an exceptional host, and our server Elena R. was on point with First Class service. I had the California Eggs Benedict with a side of incredible bacon, that they get specially aged, and cut nice and thick. They also have fresh squeezed orange juice, per order, from a fancy machine on display in the restaurant, which is fun for the kids to watch, and more fun for the adults when you have some in a mimosa! We've eaten here three times since it opened and had poor service every time. The last time we were there we were told there was a 10 minute wait, there were open tables but they didn't have the staff. Uhhh...it was Labor Day, thinking you should have known it would be busy. After waiting 45 minutes we inquired with the hostess only to find out she had crossed off our name and never called it. We got sat at a table and then proceeded to wait 25 minutes before somebody walked out and I could get their attention. In those 25 minutes, servers walked by, saw we had no drinks, didn't come up and ask if we had been helped. I tried to get the attention of the guy bussing tables and he looked at me and ignored me. Eventually, the manager (I'm guessing) came out and I finally got her attention. I told her we got seated and hadn't been helped. She immediately started taking our orders and brought us water cups. She apologized and asked who sat us. (The girl that sat us- sat us at a table, went into the kitchen, and never came back out the whole time we were there). She then brought our food out within 15 minutes. She said our milk and orange juice were in the house because of the inconvenience. However, we both asked for a large cup and got small ones still. I've been here once before when it first opened and had better service but this place is going downhill fast. The service was bad. We ordered an apple juice for grandson and waitress thought we ordered orange juice and charged us $5.99 for a kids OJ. She never repeated our order, order took forever and restaurant was not busy and food was warm at best. When confronted about the orange juice it was too bad, that's what we ordered. I didn't even notice it wasn't apple because of the kids cup it came in. Poor attitude on the restaurant. Lesson learned to always ask the waitstaff to repeat your order!! won't go back here. The kids grilled cheese was cold and cheese was not melted. Skillet leaves much to be desired. Hamburger was fine. I'd give it less than a one star if I could. Also note, the kids cup is 12 oz IF you fill it to the top and not put a cover on. I see others are shocked at the cost of the kids OJ. This is where they get you. They NEED to tell their customers the cost of the juice when ordering. I'm sure by the posts below that others would not have ordered. No music when we were here and wait staff did not greet us at the door. We waited to be seated for a good 3-4 minutes. My first time in and I had a gross experience. I had a breakfast burrito, which was good. After eating at least 1/2 the hash browns, I found a LONG hair in them. I informed the waitress and told her that perhaps the cook was not wearing a hair net. She said she would check, but did not go right in back. At checkout, I informed the woman of the problem. Waited forever to be seated even though there were plenty of empty tables in the restaurant. Waitresses standing around looking like thing one and to know what to do next. They could've gone and clear the tables that had been freed for sometime. When we finally did get seated, we had to walk around a flood in the middle of the restaurant since the ceiling was leaking like crazy. My feet stuck to the floor as we walked across it. When we did get seated waited a long time for a waitress to take our order, waited another long time for our order to be delivered. When we finally did get all of it, it was cold! Have to ask for every little thing like salt, Pepper, syrup and anytime we needed our coffee we killed. One of the people at our table had a big here in their pancakes, which were pretty much an edible anyway. Very solid and tough! There was actually one waitress who was really hustling and doing the work of several of the ones that weren't doing so. First time ..... and, possibly last time ..... visitors. Flavor and presentation of our French toast and eggs and sausage was good but, visiting on a Sunday morning at 8:35 AM with only two other tables occupied, the arrival of the food was slow and it wasn't hot ... barely over luke warm, both for my eggs and sausage and my wife's French toast (not even hot/warm enough to melt any butter). On our way out later I heard a woman say "I'm not going to pay for cold hash browns!" I asked our server about the ETA of the food and she said "It'll be out in a few minutes." She then went into the kitchen and came right back out with the food. In addition, it was only after I'd finished 3/4 of my food did I realize I'd never received the pancakes that went with the eggs, sausage, and hash browns. I asked my server about them and she said "Oh, yeah," went back into the kitchen and brought two pancakes right back out saying "Just made." However, they, too, were just luke warm and not hot enough to melt any butter. read more

If I could rate this less than one I would( this review is coming from a former server of 5 years at a popular breakfast joint) We walked in and were told it would be about a 30 minute wait. Fine, no problem. We sat and watched as 13 tables sat unbussed and more people began to come in. People at tables, people walking up to the host stand, people at the register all didn't even get acknowledged by workers passing by. There were only about 10 tables with people and about 5 waitresses walking around. It was defiantly NOT what I'd consider busy. The hostess was the only one actually working and doing everything from ringing people out, filling tables waters, seating tables, bringing food, bussing tables, etc. After nearly an hour of watching this utter embarrassment, we walked out along with a couple dozen of others after having not even been seated. This place is not your best selection for breakfast. Overpriced. Waited 10 minutes to be seated and there were 8 open clean tables. No one ahead of us. Just take people to the table with menus and silverware instead of leaving you sit. Coffee just under 12.00 for 4 people. Rip off. Not very good coffee either. Never came back to see if they should refill pot. Kids meals were suppose to come with juice but got charged 2.00 for each. So 4.00 overcharged. Didn't see until we left back home. We were on town visiting our kids and grandkids. Won't ever go back there again. Go back to KOFFEE KUP downtown or the family restraunt next to dollar General store. Bill was 76.00 for breakfast without the tip. Plan on 10.00 to 12.00 for breakfast per person without your beverage. Again. NOT IMPRESSED! read more

We were excited to try the new Pancake Cafe in Stoughton this afternoon for lunch. This was our first experience with any Pancake Cafe. There was a short wait. We quickly noticed that Kona Coffee was on the menu. While not cheap at $2.79, it didn't disappoint! The waitress, who was very attentive, left the pot at our table. My wife ordered a western omelet with egg beaters (add $1.99), and I had a bacon omelet. They both came with a side of hash browns and three good size pancakes. The omelets and hash browns were fine, but the meal went down hill when it came to the pancakes. My wife sampled first, and remarked that they had a burnt taste to them. Looking closely we noticed that several of hers and mine were actually burnt on one side or the other. We pointed this out to the waitress and she took them back to the kitchen. Within minutes she brought back two new stacks. One pancake from each new stack was burnt on one side, and very noticeably. When you send food back to the kitchen, it should come back right. In this case it didn't. And with the word Pancake in your restaurant's name, you need get the pancakes right (the first time and every time). Unfortunately they didn't. And with a price of $31.21 for the above, we will not be returning to the Pancake Cafe. read more
