I'm not from Lubbock but I visit often and I've heard good things about Pancake House every time I come to this city. Well, I'm glad I decided to give it a try because it was amazing! We were seated right away, our server was very friendly and efficient and the food was great! I had the "big boy breakfast" which had eggs, bacon, ham AND sausage. Oh, and it also came with two yummy pancakes! The coffee was freshly brewed and everything we needed was already at the table. Overall a great experience. My wife and I had breakfast this morning at The Pancake House in Lubbock. And what an excellent breakfast it was! My wife had the Red Velvet Pancakes and I had an omelet with cheese, bacon, jalapeno, and taco seasoned ground beef asking with biscuits and gravy and hash browns. Both of our meals were excellent! My wife likes her bacon cooked extra crispy. It was cooked a little less crispy than she likes it and Angel, our server, took it back y to the kitchen and re-served it perfectly cooked. The ambience is cool, the service was perfect and the food was over the top. Before we left we also had a sample of the cinnamon roll pancakes and they were to die for! Go on over there and enjoy a mighty fine breakfast. You won't regret it! read more

Finding a great breakfast on this side of town was a little difficult because everything was closed since it was a weekend morning. I spotted a packed parking lot and knew this was 'the' spot. The interior looks, I'm sure, the same way it did when the restaurant opened in the 60s (??) but it is better for it. It was like eating in the back of an antique store. While pancakes sounded good, I was relieved when I found out that they served the full menu all day. I was on a steak fingers kick for some reason and decided to order them with tator tots. The fingers were a little over cooked but I consider that absolutely acceptable at a mom-n-pop type place that has one or two people doing everything. They weren't burnt, just slightly crispier than I would normally prefer. They were still good, so I would suggest giving them a try. My wife ordered chocolate chip pancakes. I'm apparently the only person ever to not like chocolate so I can't speak to there quality. She had them gone in 3 seconds flat so I feel pretty confident that she would give them a thumbs up. The meal was dirt cheap and served faster than anyplace I've eaten at recently. If you're in the area, I suggest you stop by. read more

An old-school spot and Lubbock standard, even as the surrounding neighborhood and downtown withered away. This place is in the same vein as the nearby Ranch House -- locked in time (except, unfortunately, for the price) and focused on simple, homestyle fare. It's decorated like a West Texas grandmother's kitchen. The walls are covered with old signs and pictures of regulars and other knickknacks. This is the kind of place that the new Cracker Barrel across town has tried to photocopy and stamp around the country. I've never had anything here but breakfast. The sweet potato pancakes are good; large and dense and strong with cinnamon. They serve them with regular syrup and a honey syrup. If you're impressed enough, you can grab a box of the mix on your way out. Service is attentive and friendly. It's usually hard to empty a mug of coffee. They dote on the university football team, and I've heard the place serves enormous omelettes for the bigger guys during training. There are only a couple knocks on the place. It can get quite crowded and the waiting area may feel a little cramped while you're waiting on one of the about 20 tables. The other is the price. A side of ham is something on the order of $3, and a stack of two pancakes will set you back at least $4.25. It's not too bad, but it's enough to mention. At least it's going to a local family and not the same handful of breakfast chains you could eat at anywhere else. read more

We were in from out of town and were looking online for a good place for breakfast that wasn't a chain restaurant. We found this place and read some good reviews and decided to give it a try. It was awesome! The place was very down home and inviting and even took me back in time to an old cafe in my hometown. It just has that hometown feel that I love! The decor is Americana/Texan, which, being a proud native Texan I can appreciate. I also loved seeing all of the faith-based signage, such as the Lord's Prayer, as well as some other signs that really made us feel like it was God's will for us to eat there that day. Before even sitting down at the table, I felt like I was in my Granny & Paw-Paw's house! We were greeted, seated, and even served by Andrea, who is awesome! She was smiling and friendly and really made us feel welcome. Andrea provided great recommendations on menu items. I was super excited to see sweet potato pancakes on the menu and Andrea mentioned they make their own cinnamon-honey to top it with so of course I had to try them. Plus, Andrea our waitress said they heat up the syrup for us! Wow! Sold! Our omelettes and pancakes were out to us quickly and it was all so very delicious! Ate breakfast at the Pancake House today. It was very busy, but the wait was not bad. Our waitress was excellent. The food on the other hand in my opinion was not very good. My eggs were not fully cooked. The bacon was half done and half raw. And if their gravy is homemade they need too consider using the package mix. I love this place Angel is my favorite she always remembers that I'm a disabled Veteran and provides the discount! She makes sure my food is prepared the way I like it. If you go here late on the weekend it will be busy and you could end up waiting a good while to eat. Graduation day of our son and we needed brunch before then. We came in around 9:30am and glad we did! Breakfast crowd bout finish so we did not wait long. By the time 10am hits the line was out the door. The breakfast bar was cool! Lol, have not seen that in a while. The place is decorated like in the 60's early 70's a lot of knick knacks here and there in the wall. Definitely a 70's paneling. They seemed to be famous for their pancakes hence the name so the family ordered the sweet potato and buttermilk pancakes. Also had, hash browns, chicken fried steak breakfast and western omelette. The Buttermilk pancakes were tender, tangy and fluffy perfect! We all wished the syrup was warm but I would have eat it with just butter. The sweet potato pancakes was good but a bit dry. I expected it to be crumbly and got disappointed. The hash-brown was one of the best I have had. I normally don't eat hash brown but ate it with the gravy on was delicious! The chicken fried steak was good nothing to write home about. Western Omelette was also cheesy, gooey, veggies were crunchy and still has a bite. The toppings are on top instead of inside. If you are looking for a healthy breakfast like a bowl of fruit this is not the place for you.... We stumbled upon this establishment on our way out of Lubbock, after an overnight stop on a cross country trip. The food was Home-Style, reasonably priced, and good. We had the cinnamon roll, two breakfast sliders and a western omelette. Everything was served in a timely manner. What impressed me most about this place was the kindness of the staff. As an inter-racial couple traveling thru Texas isn't always welcoming,but it was different here. When we checked out, the cashier asked us to hold on for a moment because our waitress wanted to gather dr a prayer as we are traveling and moving across the country. Every time we go here the waitresses are very good, fill your coffee, nice and smiling no matter how rough of morning they are having. They were packed this morning and one of the main cooks did not show up. We still received excellent service, not a bad wait time and our food didn't take any longer than normal. Manager, waitresses, and front desk lady were all very nice and made sure everyone was being taken care of. You know they had to be really stressed but handled it so well. The food was fine but the service was terrible. I got a red velvet waffle and it was good. My friend got the biscuits and gravy and she said they were good, but we waited an HOUR for our food and finally ate at 1:30pm. The man taking our drink orders was asking us what we wanted to drink as he walked by. He didn't even stop (???) and look us in the eye. We felt rushed to only wait. Pancake house is a very popular spot. A very nice homey restaurant. Extremely comfortable and great place to bring friends and family. My boyfriend loves the food - for me it's nothing spectacular. Mama sally is sweet as can be and makes your visit even more special. Their pancakes are OK. I prefer the french toast. The omelettes are also ok. There's usually a very long wait and to me it's not worth it. The service is typically great, I've only ever had one bad experience service wise and that was when I was picking up a to go order.
