As a lot of the reviewers, I too came to reminisce. I grew up in San Antonio and would go to the one there all the time. Maybe my taste have changed but it wasn't as I remembered. The Tex mex enchiladas, chicken enchiladas, and the chalupa were ok. The best thing there was the sopapillas they are still amazing and I probably would go back just for them oh and the service was pretty good our waitress was very attentive. read more

Lunch choice this trip and worth the three hour drive for me. I make a point to make this drive just so I can eat at Panchos and stop at Half-Price Books! This trip did not disappoint. Food and service both were great. Management was extremely friendly and made a point to say hello and goodbye. Only thing to mention- the building could definitely use an update or repairs at the least. Everything was clean- just looking a little run down in the restrooms and the ceiling tiles especially. The food definitely leaves a lot to be desired. All of it tasted like it was days, if not years, old. The "gentleman" who was the cashier did not seem to like ilthe fact that our party asked for a receipt. Had to remind him that their sign at the entrance showed Seniors prices were $5.99 and not the $10.99 weekend buffet price he was trying to charge us for everyone. If you are looking for extremely low-quality food, then this is the place for you. Their portions are also off. I ordered chicken fajita, and I got enough pico for only 1 fajitas. The fajita meat itself didn't take bad but there wasn't much meat, it was however stacked full of onions and peppers. I understand trying to cut back on things to save money, and using fillers instead, but there comes a point when you have to ask, how far do we go without insulting the customer. There should always be enough meat for at least 4 fajitas, right? Not this place. It was what you would expect it to be. Located directly next to a gym, in case you need another reason to blow off exercise. There's not much direction when you go in, and getting the attention of the staff was an awkward experience to say the least. You get your plate, tell the lady behind the counter what you want as you go along the buffet she plates it for you. When you're done with that plate, go get another or raise the little table flag and they'll go get it for you. That's kind of really it. It's average food, average service, average overall. I loved Panchos as a kid, and I still enjoy going a few times a year. There are only two Panchos restaurants left in Houston, and sadly they have been doing downhill over the last few years. So I decided to drive to Humble and try this location, and I was happily surprised. I rediscovered the magic of my childhood! 3 flautas, 2 tamales, rice, beans, and cheese sauce on everything, plus 2 beef enchiladas and 2 cheese enchiladas. Raised the flag for an extra plate of flautas with cheese sauce, and finished it off with 2 sopapillas! The Humble Panchos is cleaner than both Houston locations, the food is better quality, and the staff is friendlier. I highly recommend it...if you can find it! There's no sign visible from the street, and the restaurant is hidden behind a row of trees. Find the the Brick House Tavern, and Panchos is behind it. read more

Expensive plus bland food equals a negative rating but yelp will only allow me a one. Don't waste your money there are cheaper and better places to get Mexican food, but THIS IS NOT IT. Pancho's is what it's suppose to be. The way it has been since the 70's. The way I remember it from when I was a kid growing up.....the soapapillas, sour cream enchiladas, chilirellenos, beans and rice, etc. It may not be a high end restaurant or the best quality Mexican food......but it's the same as it's always been and for me......that is comforting. read more

Back in 2005 on the way to my job post because I worked as a 2nd shift guard. I decided to get a ponchos grab and go. this was at the Oak Ridge North location on the north freeway. I think it's gone because it's not listed here, And I can see why because when I went in the $3.99 buffet when I walked in was still on I think it stopped right around 2 PM or that neighborhood. I walked in at 1:58 and by the time I got up to the counter they charged me full price something like double that! This place has ROACHES! I called the manager named Herman over to show him the roach under the table and he just walked off unconcerned and went back to the kitchen area. He then came back to my table after about a minute or two and said he just had the place exterminated last night (which was a lie bcz he could've said that the first time before he walked away without an explanation). He did not even apologize or look surprised. Upon leaving the restaurant another roach was spotted by the register. So now I'm left wondering how many roaches were in the food. The food is mediocre. The management at this location is not very understanding of the customers, with certain food requirements and has a really bad attitude. I just had weight loss surgery about two months ago and this was my first time going out to eat since then. They have a Pancho app that says soft tacos are 1.99 but since I didn't realize this was only for Togo orders I was charged 3.00 per taco and was only able to eat about half. I was really embarrassed but the management didn't even care, I can't eat as much as the normal individual. The food here is okay. But if you have had VSG or any Bariatric surgery AVOID THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COSTS, they only sell buffet no individual entree as the management told me and was even LAUGHING at me when I voiced my concern. The waitress and other staff other than management were so nice and understanding. Just good to know for the future that this restaurant is not for me anymore. Also for Non VSG or Weight Loss members THE SENIOR PRICES AND REGULAR PRICES HAVE GONE UP. read more

Just had a pretty bad experience. The staff were rude and inattentive, and it took us a long time to get through the food line the first time because the staff refused to help initially, goofing off instead of working, and rushed us along as though we were wasting their time. One male staff member actually scolded me later for getting back in line to get food, but trying to use the flag was impossibly frustrating. We never got half the stuff we asked for, and every staff member ignored us until we actually flagged someone down. I watched that same male staff member that was rude earlier make rounds to every other table but ours to check in at least 3 times, even to ones without raised flags, but then looked at ours and kept walking, as did other staff members as well. He was loud and obnoxious and wouldn't stop swearing in front of my daughter. Definitely not a family-friendly atmosphere, so the rude attitudes, bland and tasteless food are enough to keep us from coming back. Gross food, rude staff, bad atmosphere. read more

I wouldn't come here if you're looking for Mexican Food. They use watered down Velveeta Cheese and their beef is not real. The color itself isn't convincing and you can tell it's the stuff they use in Jack in the Box tacos without the flavor. Their salsa bar is authentic although you have nothing but chips to utilize it for. However, their service is ultra friendly and very quick. Visited this location a couple of times when we were in the Humble neighborhood and hungry. We were satisfied in the past with the nice friendly service and decent Mexican food choices. But the last two visits were very disappointing. The bland food got worse, cheaper ingredients, and the service is now almost non existent. While waiting to pay the cashier, there was a huge drink spill at the beverage dispenser in front of the unfriendly, uncaring male cashier, where you are supposed to slide your cafeteria tray through. The spill had been there a while, I tried to ask him for a rag, but he couldn't care less about the spill in our way. Because of the mess we both passed on purchasing beverages. Both visits we sat next to unbussed, dirty plate filled tables that were never cleared our entire visit. It was the same way this visit, and the place was 2/3 empty, on a Saturday night. Staff seems new and untrained, management too, and not in a good way. Only two overwhelmed teenagers working the dining room area. It was early Saturday dinner time and I asked for guacamole, they were out. I asked for Saturday Menudo, and was steered towards a mostly empty metal tray of warm slimy pork tripe with no soup or maize. We were so disappointed with the food and lack of service that we finished our only serving of food and agreed to get a soft serve ice cream cone and leave. The soft serve machine was broken, dispensing runny yellowish white ice cream soup into your cone, or was THAT the Menudo soup machine? We are not coming back to find out. Sad. read more

Has good selection of food items on buffet. Nice sauce bar & dessert bar with ice cream, but very limited salad bar. Good waiters who brought fresh guacamole to the table. Bathrooms not easily accessible to handicapped, although entry doors are mounted correctly (pull handle on outside so you don't have to pull on a handle after washing your hands). Our family of three were able to eat for $12 with non-alcoholic drinks. On sunny days, park near the edge of the lot where the trees & shade are. Our GPS misled us a bit, as Panchos is on the south side of 1960 behind Big Lots & Harbor Freight. read more

I was sorely disappointed by the buffet entrées, however, which were mostly bland and disappointingly unvaried for the price. I worked here for over a month an ended up quitting . The short white complected manager denied me my payroll information after I insisted to stop stepping on my toes. The first week showed me the names of everyone's payroll an my money but due to lack of treating my work how she wanted ending up telling me it was none of my business.
