First time coming here but have passed it multiple times and was curious to see how it tasted since it's been around for so long. I can't believe how old the current reviews are too. My husband and I ordered an egg roll, wontons, a small broth, chicken lo mein, and the Szechuan chicken that came with rice. The egg roll was good, the wontons were very oily but still edible, the broth was good, but my chicken lo mein could use more salt. Or maybe that's a personal preference but it tasted a little bland to me. My husband liked his Szechuan meal and said he would come back. I'm iffy but would try something new if we were to return. Don't know if it's worth all of the money considering we paid $56 for all of that but I guess it depends who you ask. I've attached photos to show the amount of food you get. It's definitely a fair amount I suppose. The dining room itself was nice. It seems like a place people rather order to go because everyone who entered was picking up and not a single person sat down on the tables. But it's there if you wanted to. We like this place a lot. Their delivery always arrives fresh and hot and their egg drop soup is some of the best around. Beef and broccoli while we prefer the broccoli more cooked the beef is always fresh and tender and the sauce is delightful. They also seem to use jasmine rice which we enjoy and it's never sticky. We forgot to order the spring rolls this time but they are always delicious too. Whenever we have been inside the place is always clean and you can see the kitchen which also looks clean so the service is always informative and friendly and the place is kind of cute inside. This place is not worthy of a star, not one. We ordered pan fried dumpling.......they were the size of a nickel.... And the sauce that went with it actually tasted rancid. The sesame chicken had RED sauce, With a sprinkle of sesame seeds, but was clearly NOT sesame chicken. Lo mein was decent, really can't mess that up. Here's where we all were SOOOOOO CONFUSED...the friend rice was YELLOW, with NOTHING IN IT...Tasted and looked like SPANISH rice.....NOT fried. This is not your typical Chinese restaurant. Their Thai specialty dishes set them apart from the rest. This strip mall restaurant has a small but well decorated dining area with the best service you could hope for. Although it is mostly take out I highly recommend dining there. You can usually get a table pretty quickly. The Thai specialty dishes are excellent. I always get the Thai basil chicken and Pad Thai shrimp. These dishes are delicious and the sauces are outstanding. I keep telling myself to try something new in the Thai specialty dishes section of the menu but I just can't give up these wonderful dishes. Also all of the extra sauces like hot mustard and duck sauce our homemade. Much tastier than the typical packets you get at a regular Chinese restaurant. Regular Chinese food here is good as well but pretty typical. Their garlic sauce and brown sauce are similar to what you would get at a typical Chinese restaurant. Otherwise if these sauces were better than usual I would be giving this establishment a five star rating. But the Thai specialty dishes are five star meals. I wanted this to be good. Last time I ate there was 2013 and I was in the neighborhood lunch time. Ordered shrimp in lobster sauce, egg roll, and wonton soup. 1) 4 Shrimp were fresh and great 2) Sauce had ground pork, but little else. Trade the peas for scallions and make the sauce thicker - was like water :( 3) Chicken fried rice was good, chicken better than the upgraded pork fried rice, but the yellow rice looked like a left over. 4) Egg roll was absolutely horrible 5) Pint of wonton soup for $3.50 ? Not worth it. The water lobster sauce ruined the shrimp, which was really the only saving grace. I also think there was an abundance of MSG - unfortunately, given that they have gluten free items on the menu, I would expected a bit more nod towards the healthy. Will not return, but I feel bad for the owners. The woman behind the counter was quite friendly. Internet ordering was good, but I didn't even bother to pick up a paper menu as I had negative vibes picking up the food. read more

After a recent discovery of a gluten sensitivity, we thought Chinese would be out of the question. Not the case, the Lo mein was a different noodle (obviously) and was really good! Fried rice, pepper steak, and even general tao's were even better than non-gluten free. So much flavor! We will be ordering from here from now on. read more

I've ordered from Panda in the past and like most Chinese food joints in the area, I don't expect an amazing meal. It's been okay...until tonight. The food is basically inedible. There is the same staleness taste to everything I ordered - from the soup to the fried rice to the noodles. The quality of the ingredients are as low as you can get. If this was the last Chinese takeout in the world I would come to grips with the fact that Chinese food is a thing of the past never EVER to come back again. At the referral of my mother in law, I went to visit this place for lunch. The broccoli and garlic sauce was tasty, the pork fried rice was sorta bland (prob just gonna get white rice the next time around). Felt a little jipped that the combo platter gave you a choice of either soup or egg roll, as most places just include both. Overall, the wonton soup was a winner. Very tasty. We ate at Panda Asian Fusion the other day and we enjoyed the food very much. The Thai Basil Chow Fun was cooked perfect and melted in my mouth. We also had the Mayonnaise It was rich and creamy. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Chinese food. read more

Some people must be getting this Panda House confused with the one that was in Gordon's Corner because there is no way that this one could be called "terrible" unless the awesome chef, Frank, was out that day. Their coconut soup (add tofu) is sublime! They have the BEST vegetable dumplings I've ever had in my life!! Their scallion pancake is also quite good. Also their mini spring rolls are yummy. They have a great seafood menu from what my family tells me, but as a VEGAN - I highly recommend them for high quality vegan options even if they rarely have "mock meats" available. Only reason I'm taking away 1 star is that sometimes we get bad attitudes from other people who work there which is annoying, but it is rare. UPDATE 2/21/2014: My favorite chef, the aforementioned Frank, no longer works here and now runs Wok N' Roll in Jackson, NJ - BUT I've tried it here since and it seems like they are staying true to the menu and level of quality minus a few minor differences in recipe... the only major difference I've found has been the coconut soup just isn't the same. No change for rating though as the service is still good and so far no major complaints. read more

Well, this was a disappointment. We got a gift certificate for this place a while back and decided to cash it in tonight. I should have known that things were headed downhill when they refused to honor it. (It was over a year old and, even though it had no expiration date, they wouldn't let me use it.) We ordered curry chicken and Thai basil chicken. The curry chicken was okay. The Thai basil was not Thai basil. It was Chinese chicken with veggies with some weird red sauce. NOT what I ordered..... In my take out bag were no forks, chop sticks, napkins, nothing! Not even fortune cookies. :-( In the end, I had to pay out of pocket for pretty crappy food. This is a very good Chinese take-out restaurant when you look at it in comparison with others if this same type. I have ordered various orders in the lunch and dinner combination menus. What stands out the most is their chicken. It is sliced thing but maintains a tenderness when cooked. The bag wasn't marked GF and I had read a review on a woman and her daughter who got glutened here which is why i tested the food. Stopped in for a fast lunch... I was seated at the back of the restaurant next to the kitchen which seemed odd; there was another couple having lunch too. We were the only patrons. The family ( owners sat at the table next to me putting together take out bags by the boxful. ) I suspect much of the business is take out and delivery. My husband joined me 5 minutes later so I ordered for both of us. Food was served as if he was there which was fine because we were in a rush however no one greeted him or brought him a glass of water! The soup was tasty but the 2 wontons were over cooked and tasteless. It was served scalding hot -beware! I had ordered the same entree for both of us having just come from the dentist. I was beyond disappointed, it was over cooked , tasteless and the hottest temperature I have ever experienced in a restaurant. It's been a very long time since I've finished a meal at one seating. Panda has done it. The egg foo young is the best I've tasted in a very long time , and I've tried elsewhere. We've been getting take-out from Panda Asian Fusion for a few years. I used to think they were so-so, but now I find their food to be much better. I don't know if they are new owners or have a new chef, but our last few orders have been really good. Last night my son came over with his family and we decided to eat Chinese food at home. My son is truly a food connoisseur, so I let him choose the dishes. We were ordering for 6 people, so he mixed it up with some traditional dishes and some that were more "exotic." However, after several meals which included ordering from their lunch menu for both Thai and Chinese cuisines, I can be confident in my decision not to come back. For someone who looks for big, bold flavors, this restaurant just fails to deliver. Thai food is not bland, but their Pad Thai and Basil Chicken completely fell flat. Their Chinese food is ok, and the vegetables are fresh, but again lacking the flavor that one looks for in Chinese food. Recently had a dinner here on a Saturday around 8 p.m. Decor is a very simple Asian, restaurant is clean and neat. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. As we sat, I could see people coming in and out for pick-up, a good sign. There were a fair amount of group tables filled. I believe they are BYO because I saw a couple of folks at different tables drinking wine, and no alcohol was on the menu. The menu seemed pretty extensive, and also offered "healthy choices" (steamed, etc.) We ordered from the family combo menu - $12.95/person, you choose one item from column A and one from column B. and you get soup, a shrimp roll, fried rice and the two meal choices. Honestly, you got a fair amount of food, not skimpy. It looked as if our drinks were included in the price. The only extra item we ordered, and when done, wished we ordered a big bucket full! were the spare ribs (with bone). I have never had a better Chinese sparerib! The meat was tender and seemed to be poached while being cooked in some sort of lovely liquid that had star of anise, or there could have been the "five spices" blend in the minimal sauce on the rib, but whatever they do, it's heaven on a bone! Order these! Two notes, there are some Thai dishes offered, and second note, this restaurant can prepare most of their dishes gluten free - there is a big sign on the window announcing it as well. I noticed that another table near by was eating gluten free and they took the crispy noodles off the table and gave them a small bowl of rice chex to pick on, and, the shrimp/spring rolls were wrapped in rice wraps. A friend of a friend told me the restaurant supposedly gets their veggies fresh from a local farm, the veggies did taste fresh, but I have no verification on the rumor. This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. The service and food is always the best! If I'm anywhere near Freehold I make it my choice for lunch or dinner. I am American, I spend a lot of time in China on business and love Chinese Food. This is the best Chinese Restaurant I have been to, in the US, in a very long time. This use to be my go-to chinese restaurant when I was in the mood for chinese food. But I realized its either a hit or a miss with each order. Sometimes I'd get fresh fried rice, sometimes I'd get stale (obviously very old) fried rice. Sometimes, they would make the general tso chicken with white meat (like I always request it) and sometimes, it would be made with very squishy dark meat. I got tired of the inconsistency because when the food is bad, its really bad; when the food is fresh, it's decent and enjoyable. I decided to try Jade Palace, which isn't too far from Panda Asian Fusion, and have had way better luck in terms of consistency. Their fried rice includes more ingredients and is way tastier, although their general tso chicken is not very good. I no longer order general tso chicken though, I switched it out for boneless spare ribs, which is decent at Jade Palace. read more

I just tried this place on the advice of my wife's friends, who are regulars. This is a family-owned and operated Chinese strip mall restaurant that is definitely above average for its type. The decor is simple and neat, but not elaborate. The staff are friendly and solicitous. The food is good. They have daily specials, but we tried a few of the classics. (There is a small selection of Thai classics, which will have to wait for another time.) My wife's soup, egg-drop/wonton mix was good. My hot and sour soup was a bit thin and undistinguished. The egg rolls seemed home-made and tasted fresh, but I would have preferred a thinner wrapper and more filling. Egg foo yong was definitely above average- light, tasty with a sauce that was on target. Shrimp with lobster sauce had plump, fresh-tasting shrimp, in a sauce that was a little thin, but good. Dessert ice cream was good quality and generous in size. The price was reasonable, especially when using a coupon. I wouldn't say that this is the best of its kind in the area, but it is certainly solid, friendly and a good value. read more
