6/11/23 - On 6/10/23 I drove by this place by accident. Went in to check out the menu. I ordered a sizzling rice soup I haven't seen anywhere in San Diego or elsewhere except in SF. Was $10 and it was good. On 6/11/23, I did a phone order for 6 items at 12:50pm to go. They told me be here in 15 minutes. I arrived in 15 minutes and everything was ready to go. I was a little shocked. 2 stars for customer service and speed. Opened the items and plenty of food. Spent $77 total. Check receipt and photos. Total stars of 3 stars. The food quantity was very good but the flavor was average. The tin foil chicken I'm always in the hunt for and it wasn't flavorful. They call it wrapped chicken. The best item was the seasoned chicken. Next time, just getting the sizzling rice soup. Enjoy. They have been there for longer than I've been alive I guess. Give it a try. No clue what the heck happened with the Customer Service of this Restaurant today.....Never had an issue ordering food and then being delivered to me.....BUT this time Panda Country dropped the ball HARD and now on my PooP List and I will never give them business again!.....The Customer Service I received was really bad as in I tried calling the restaurant 9 times One time they picked up the phone and I can hear the staff taking orders with other people then they hung up on me!..."WoW" .They did not want to talk to me.....The Restaurant Manager did call me to try to resolve the issue it was too late by this time I was waiting almost 2 hours since ordering the food....Oh Well. read more

Let's face it San Diego Chinese food is kind of underwhelming. The best stuff is on convoy, there's some in RB, but other than that we get stuck with junk like pei wei, pick up stix, Panda Express. The lo mein wasn't super oily or saucy. Lightish and has good flavor. The house chicken was a bit too intense. Super super sweet. I think I'll stick the Mongolian chicken or kung pao. Panda country is between convoy goodies and Panda Express. The taste and quality are good. It's not going to rock your world but it will satisfy a craving and you won't be regretting life 12 hours later as you would Panda Express. I ordered take out sweet and sour chicken and few other dishes. We have all had left over food the morning after. This is exactly what this food was like. The laughable fried chicken was chewy, soft and dry. The rice had crunchy hard bits that could have damaged a tooth. Overall nasty food that I would warn anyone from buying who reads this. I introduced my friend to this delicious restaurant. After being seated, they always bring fried egg noodles with applesauce and spicy mustard dipping sauces. We got the Special Dinner C. The dinner started with egg roll, cheese wonton, fried shrimp, and teriyaki beef stick. All of which were delicious. Then we both received War Wonton soup. It comes with a generous amount of fresh vegetables and meat. We chose 3 Ingredient Taste and Crispy Shrimp with fried rice as our entrée. I've been going here for the better part of 30 years. The food quality is always great, but recently, there are now way more vegetables than protein. Last night I got cashew chicken and this is what I got. 70% bell pepper and the prices have risen. This was $100 worth of old, greasy, salty, burnt food. I called manager/Owner of which doesn't speak English. Someone there was translating my concerns. First they tried blaming the Door Dash driver that she took too long to deliver the food- between the time I order and had it delivered was 30 minutes, 15 minute drive. We ordered the pot stickers, chow fun with beef, and Double Happiness (shrimp and scallops with veggies in a light sauce. We ate the pot stickers first. I'm from the Bay Area and the food is more ethnic there than here in San Diego. I've had a hard time finding good Chinese style food in East County. Always pass Panda Country and today decided I would take a chance and try them out. My family and I really enjoyed our lunch all 4 meals which included: Sesame chicken, it had a hint of garlic flavor very good. Chicken lo mein great flavor all around, Walnut Shrimp perfect amount of mayo nice plumpy shrimp and last but not least Lemon Chicken had a great aroma of lemon and flavor was spot on. Been craving some chop suey. I'm tired of eating my cooking day in and day out. Decided to go on postmates. This place popped up. Glad I ordered from here. Ordered the chicken chop suey with fried rice and egg rolls. The chop suey is delicious. Had a hint of spice. Unexpected but delicious. I asked if they could add bbq pork to the fried rice. And they did! Everything came very hot. Loved it. I could eat 10 egg rolls. Great flavor. Overall wonderful. Will definitely order again. Is that bok choy in my chop suey? I hope so. I'd been craving Chinese food so we decided to stop here on our way to the trolley mall after finding out Lucky's is closed on Sundays. I'll start by saying that the menu is amazing. There are plenty of options for everyone. The restaurant is adorable too. I only was able to take pictures of two of the decor items that stood out to me but it definitely had so much more to offer. Now onto the food. One thing I noticed is that their chow mein here is only the bean sprouts. There are no noodles. I have never gone anywhere else and tried to order chow mein and was told there would be no noodles in it so that was different to me. I ended up ordering the shrimp lo mein instead which tasted just as good. I'll also mention that there is always some kind of additional charge for items where it says that sides are "included." For example some items say they come with a soup or side of rice and egg roll. The rice and egg roll are actually included as a part of the meal but if you wanted the soup instead you'd have to pay an additional charge which makes no sense being that you'd be doing a substitution that they provided as an option. Nowhere next to it does it say the soup would be an additional charge either. It's almost like they want you to pay for every part of the special as if you're ordering these items separately but yet falsely advertise that it's a special which is what attracts eyes to that section of the menu in the first place. Keep that in mind if you decide to come here. My partner also ordered a side of cream cheese wontons and ended up pretty sick. I'm not sure if they just didn't agree with her or what but she couldn't keep anything down after eating them. The only other item she ordered was fried rice which I ate. I didn't get sick from that and the Chinese food was the only food we ate that day. Outside of those two things the food was good. I think I'll definitely stick to Lucky's for the most part though. I didn't like the constant unadvertised additional charges for the items we tried to order. The quality of the food is good but it's not worth so many additional charges. read more

They charge a 14.5% surcharge on our meal. Nothing on the menu stated this. Food was fair. Soup was just above room temperature. Egg rolls were just warm. All of the appetizers were just warm. Haven't been able to find good Chinese food since moving to the area 3 years ago. Tried Panda Country for the first time tonight and was blown away. Ordered delivery, showed up early and piping hot. We got the Chef's Special crispy beef, shrimp foo young, kung pao chicken, moo shu pork, egg rolls and cheese wontons. The special was unique and delicious, foo young was packed separately so nothing got soggy and the fried appetizers were nice and crispy. I've lived in Santee for eight years and have never tried this place. I figured I should finally try it. I wish I didn't. It was some of the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Came in on a recommendation from a friend. We were greeted quickly and shown to a booth. The place has a nice, calm, and quiet ambiance. The staff is super efficient and quick. We split a lunch item and added lo mein. The lunch specials come with soup and an egg roll. It was the perfect amount of food. We can't seem to find moo shu many places and were stoked they have it here. Everything was fantastic. My only wish was for veggies in the lo mein. Out the door with tip was less than $20. We went there tonight (Xmas eve) at 6:30. They were not too busy. Then it picked up. We ordered appetizers. Got one and waited 10+ mins for the second. We ordered 3 entrees. After a 1/2 hr. The first arrived. Another 20+ min the 2nd one with rice arrived. The third ??? After an hour, we placed the order again.Took it home. Yes. They were busy. BUT a family of 5 came in after us. Ordered, ate and left. So did two other groups. Another table of 4 came in, ordered and got their food. To say I was upset, wouldn't even touch it.
