On my most recent visit, I put my order in at 3:52 pm and my BESTIE put her order in 5 minutes after we arrived. There was plenty of parking and I thought thankfully, they were not busy. However, one of the items I wanted was not ready. I was quoted 4 minutes. My BESTIE got her meal and sat down and was already eating within minutes. My 3 entree plate had already been boxed up, minus the chicken and mushrooms and sat on the counter I guess that is the downside to ordering through the app. If they are out of an item, you'll have to wait verses ordering by sight and you can switch up to the available items. After 10 minutes, Panda express was getting pretty busy and I was still waiting for my food. I went to the front counter and waited behind food delivery persons to speak to a staff member. That was about another 5 minutes. Finally, the staff member saw me and grabbed the chicken and mushrooms from the cooks in back and finished up my box and handed it over to me. Just as I suspected though... it was not hot. Not even the chicken and mushrooms. So I walked back over, stood there for another few minutes and when I finally got her attention, she remade my entire meal super fast. It was after 4:20 (could've been longer, or it just felt like it, lol) when I was finally sitting down.... with again, warm food. Not hot. Now, what was going on?? Why is their food not hot?? My entire plate again was just warm. After the couple bites of warm food, I just closed the box and saved it for later on. As disappointed in the food temp as I was... I was impressed by the work ethic of everyone when it got busy and how quickly the particular staff member got my food when she finally saw me standing there waiting. However... what is up with receiving warm food? Especially with me waiting as long as I did for the chicken and mushrooms... why was that just warm? So we read the reviews but decided to give it a try since we love Panda. The restaurant was clean, the service was excellent and the food tasty and well seasoned and well prepared. We had chicken egg roll, king pao chicken, beef broccoli, orange chicken, and mushroom chicken. The experience was on par w our favorite Panda locations and we will be back. read more

Management is horrible, especially the assistant manager on duty I believe named destiny very unprofessional and could not tell her anything so I came to yelp. I came into this restaurant on a Monday night, the tables were not clean. Ordered a two item plate with orange chicken, beef and broccoli, 1/2 chow main 1/2 fried rice. I bit into the orange chicken and immediately tasted mold. I walked up to the counter to tell them what I was tasting and I heard the ( Manager ? ) say that that is not possible. I did not ask for a refund as they were not offering one. I discarded the orange chicken and tried to eat around the other food that I paid for. Had a long day at work and then had to pick my grandmother up from the hospital. While heading home I ordered panda from my phone. I tried to add on stuff but I was actually reordering my food 3x. Lucky this panda's friendly staff refunded my money for the 2 extra orders. They were so kind and helpful. I am so thankful. The food was delicious and the restaurant was clean. Stopped by here for a quick bite before continuing on with our trip... First, didn't realize how far off highway 80 it was. First impressions, getting there around 7pm on a Friday night, was long lines. There were 5 people ahead of me, and generally, at most other Panda Express', this would be 5-7 minute wait tops. It took me over 25 minutes to get my food! There was one person working all the roles along the food. She took orders and scooped the food into the togo boxes. There was a cashier and another person who was sorting out all the online/DoorDash orders coming in and placing the order and empty trays along the food. They were definitely prioritizing all the online orders over everyone in the store waiting. You'd think that even after seeing your food in the containers, that you're close to the finish line....nope! Expect another 10 minute wait while they start calling the online orders first. I felt so bad for the one lady who was taking orders. In the middle of helping a few customer ahead of me, something got into her eye or she just needed a breather, and she walked off to the side office room for about 5 minutes. While she was there, no other staff came over to help with her station. Food was consistent with other Panda Express' and the service was friendly. Five stars for friendliness of the employees, zero stars for cleanliness of the location, 3 stars for my food. I'm conflicted in how to address my concerns with this location. Panda Express is very close to my office and so it is easy to stop in for a quick meal when I have a fast food teriyaki with rice craving. I general find myself starving and in this location once every couple of weeks. The employees here have always been very friendly, courteous and helpful for me. However, the inside of this location can be disgustingly dirty to the point where if I have time, I will ask for my food to go so I don't have to eat here. Today I got "gunk" all over my new suit and tie when I attempted to fill my soda because it was so dirty and my table had food and garbage all over the floor and dried food all over the table top. Don't kid yourself, this isn't authentic Chinese but I was in a hurry in between meetings and had one of my reoccurring teriyaki cravings so off to Panda I went for a teriyaki bowl with some white rice, a chicken breast and some teriyaki sauce. The meal is actually pretty good and I enjoyed it. I will be back but think I will stick to my to go only orders policy for this location. read more

Skip the line and order ahead it says? Yeah right! Did just that a few days back, checked in at my pickup time, told to wait. A lady comes up and orders like 4 plates, pays and then gets her food not too long after! I went back up, asking what the point of ordering ahead was when someone just walked up, ordered their food and got theirs before I did?! So ridiculous. The chow mein tasted a bit off, but the rest was ok. Also, need to train your employees about the use of masks and gloves! The masks go over your mouth and nose, not around your neck. And if you are touching your mask with gloved hands and touching everything else with the same gloved hands, including MONEY (gross), change the gloves!!! I know this is a tough time to navigate, and I appreciate places like this being open, but you need to get some stuff fixed over there. read more

This particular location is always great. The last several times I've been here, I've been greeted and served by Nathan. Nathan's customer service skills and natural friendliness always make my visits incredible and leave me feeling appreciated as a customer. Got here 10 min before the door opened at 10am! Once inside, nothing was ready. After 10 minutes, the egg rolls and deep fried wontons were ready and placed on the display. We ordered our food to go and got food about 20 minutes after the door opened. We were quite impressed with the quality of the food. The orange chicken, the chicken green beans, and Kung Pao chicken were delicious. I was impressed that Chinese food at this Panda location was not soaked in oil, not too salty, and over cooked. Got a complimentary drink for the wait. Portion was fair. Knock off one star for the wait. The place is clean and the people work here are very nice. I must have hit a good day. Stopped by Panda to pick up dinner to try this location but my expectations were low. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than bitterly disappointed and must say was pleasantly surprised. They were busy so the entrees chosen had been freshly prepared. The staff was friendly and efficient. Portions were just right and food very tasty. And most importantly the price was right and I didn't feel ill after eating like at other local Asian restaurants. Yet another bad review that I simply hate to be leaving but people need to be aware of what they are in for. I enjoyed the food, just hoping I don't get sick. So there was a line of 4, only one girl working who was arguing with her coworkers that she can take care of it. She was clearly a hard worker and I put no fault on her, all the fault on the manager who wasn't paying attention to this. The manager was busy micromanaging the cooks the perfect way of mixing stuff on the wok. It's not rocket science, they were doing just fine. So by the time the girl is finished cashing out someone, she comes over to the line of 4 (which became much longer by the time it was my turn). Without washing her hands she accidentally pushes the tongs for the chowmein into the chowmein. Yeah, no way I'm eating that after you just touched cash. The people after me did so the good news is there is a hospital very close by. I can't stress enough, please wash your hands and wear gloves. Or keep one person cashing and one person with washed hands assisting customers with the food. This is vital. It's critical. I was watching the cooks put stuff in bowls with their hands and they weren't wearing gloves either. Why is the manager not micromanaging the important stuff like customers lives and long waits? The girl helping me was very nice and hard working, I put no fault on her. It's this company and the management that hasn't put in good protocols for wearing gloves etc. I guess they are waiting for a chipotle style outbreak to happen to implement reasonable standards. These poor people don't seem to have any sensible management. Every time I stop by people are waiting for orders that typically take 10-14 minutes. I've seen someone drive off and then return due to a missing item. For my own order I had to remind them that I also paid for a spring roll. The staff always seems nice but they don't seem to understand how to manage or organize. Maybe they're understaffed but my sense is that the floor manager is either inexperienced or incompetent. I've been here a few times, this location is usually pretty busy, but I've never had too long a wait in line. I've also maybe lucked out here because every time I've visited this location my food was just pulled off the grill so it was hot and fresh! My only complaint here is sometimes the workers don't speak loud enough. The Panda Express off Hyw 49 in North Auburn is NOT fast at all. They're barely a year old. I've visited them more times than the pieces of beef I can count in a single helping of their "Shanghai Angus Steak for only a dollar more." But ordering it in person is still better than via phone because the quality of their food gets increasingly worse the longer it sits in an enclosed box. So when I visit Panda, I try to pick a time when they're the least busy, like right when they open, or between lunch and dinner. And instead of waiting in one of the 20-30 minute lines that go out the door, I usually only have to wait behind a couple of people. Like two days ago at 10:30am on a Friday morning before lunch. One person worked the grills in the back. Steam rising. Fires blazing. "Ah," I thought, "I love getting Chinese food when it's fresh off the skillets." The one girl who worked the front counter just finished at the cash register with a previous customer and then headed over to help the next person in line, a lady with black hair covered in a black leather jacket. "Hi welcome to Panda," the server behind the counter said in a sweet voice. "Would you like to try one of our entrees this morning?" I cringe, every time they ask this question. "Yes I would," the lady in black said, then she picked the Honey Walnut Shrimp, and was handed a piece on a toothpick. I knew there were only two other people behind her, and then me. But I counted anyway. The lady in black sat there chomping on the shrimp for a full 10 seconds while still holding the toothpick in the air though she were a conductor holding her orchestra in suspense while everyone waited for what she would do next. "Can I try..." there was another pause. The three of us in the short line behind her each shifted to a different stance while we waited. "Let me try the Beijing Beef." The server, in a very sweet and helping manner, got her a piece of the red-orange-colored-breaded beef, and we all watched with anticipation as she chewed. The couple in front of me texted each other and giggled. I counted how many people were left in front of me, again, "one, two, ah damn! --There's still three." The door opened behind me. "--Ok, I think I know what I'll have," the lady in black said. "--It's about damn time," I thought. Another couple walked in and stopped behind me just inside the front door. It was 10:45 by the time the lady in black had paid and collected her food. Meanwhile another server just walked in from the back. And then a guy in a black shirt, who looked like a manger. "Thank God," I thought, they finally have some more help coming in. The manager disappeared. The new co-worker seemed to struggle getting his apron on. The girl returned to the next person in line. "Welcome to Panda..." 10:55. THANKFULLY, that last couple didn't want to try anything. They knew what they wanted to order, AND they ordered together instead of separately. The girl was still the only one working the front counter as she poured the entrees onto my plate. Not sure where the new guy with the apron-troubles went. And just before the cash register, I noticed they didn't have any Sweet & Sour sauce available. "--Do I really need it?" I requested it. The server looked where she expected to see it. "I'm sorry, but it'll take about 5 min to prepare it," she said. I chose to wait. There were now five people behind me. I'll be honest. I do not like waiting in lines. But with regards to Panda, the above scenario is usually longer than most people would have the patience to read for a Yelp review. Are YOU still with me? --Well, I hope I'm at least keeping you entertained. ; ) I realize I need to accept it's ALWAYS going to take a minimum of 30mins to get food and leave at Panda Express, regardless of the time of day. And to be clear. I don't blame the servers. Especially, the poor girl who worked her butt off with a smile, but there should always be at least TWO people taking orders, and one working the cash register. They should not ask people if they'd like to taste something, but if someone requests it, give the customer their snack and politely ask them to take a step back so they can serve the next customer in line. And lastly, if they are short on staff, THAT manager better jump in and assist! At what point is the average food for less than $10 a plate no longer worth a wait of 30 minutes or more? Well, today, I had a craving for Chinese food again. Hands down, the best Chinese food in Auburn is at Twin Dragon even though it costs twice as much. BUT unlike Panda, it STILL tastes great even if it ends up sitting in a carton for up to an hour. I made the call and paid over the phone--they are ALWAYS busy, too. 15 minutes later when I arrived, the food was ready to go. "Can I get some sweet & sour sauce?" I'm a fan of Panda, but this location has serious issues!! Never enough staff to take care of anything in that place. It's pretty much always filthy, tables dirty, floors disgusting and garbage cans overflowing. Asked for our own towel to wipe a table tonight and after a 3-4 minute discussion among the workers we were told we can't have a towel....ummm, ok, then maybe get someone out here to clean up. The food is usually still pretty good, although most of the time the veggies are still raw (though tonight they were perfect). They need to take some pointers from In-n-Out, that place has it down as far as customer service and cleanliness. Wouldn't take much to fix the problems, a little more staff during busy hours and maybe some training on friendly customer service, as most of the time the folks behind the line seem rushed and a bit put out to be serving you. read more
