I've had sandwiches from Mr Pickle's at other locations. This was my first time in Lincoln. Placing an order online for take-out was simple. The menu is fairly comprehensive. Looking at all my favorite deli meat options, beef, pastrami, ham, etc. I was "good" and headed for the vegetarian options. They have salads too. I selected a Deli Veggie Sandwich on my selection of marble rye bread and pepper jack cheese. That was $10.99 which these days isn't that bad for a sandwich. At the last minute before checking out I added the macaroni salad. For $3.69 it was tasty enough but a bit overpriced when you can get much more for slightly more in price at a nearby supermarket, if you want to make an additional stop. There's a small parking lot in back, which is convenient. The place is kinda cute on the outside as it looks like a small, simple shack. Inside the place is rather dark and dismal so I wouldn't eat there. There's a small outdoor eating area as well, and although rather exposed to the elements it might be a better choice than indoors if you plan on eating there. The staff were efficient enough, and more matter of fact than friendly in their greeting. It was pointed out to me to get the macaroni salad out of the self-service refrigerator. Now I know the drill in picking up a take out order. The sandwich itself was quite good. All of the ingredients were fresh and crisp. It was nicely prepared and the bread was also fresh and delicious. I was pleased with the size and tastiness. They have sandwich size options too. I'd go back when a sandwich craving hits. Overall, except for the physical appearance of the place, it's not that bad. Putting it in perspective it is a sandwich shop after all. Overall, I do recommend it. read more

I am writing this review because I live in Lincoln and order from this location frequently for delivery and at least 20% of the time something goes wrong. I have now decided to not tip for any service as it is the employees and/or Door Dash that are getting things wrong. More often than not it is the dasher that fails to read the explicit delivery instructions to "ring doorbell" or "hand order to resident" - when this happens, even though I am latterly 10 feet from the door, I don't know that they have dropped the food off. Whose great idea was it to leave food at a front door without making contact with the receiver of that food???? How is this a default???? And WHY does the dasher IGNORE explicit instructions???? Today, it was about the people preparing the order. My sandwich explicitly stated "No Mayonnaise", "No Tomato", "No Onion" - yet ALL were on the sandwich - what if I were allergic to eggs and I just ate the sandwich (if that were the case they would have had a lawsuit), fortunately this time they only get a bad review. I had also requested to add Pepperoni to the sandwich (8-slices says the receipt) there was one slice and it was only 1" in diameter Additionally, I ordered a side of Au Jus to dip my sandwich, which I paid extra for - but NO Au Jus was delivered. Mr. Pickles you need to put quality control into your packaging, the receipt is correct but the contents do not match! The ONLY reason I have gone back is because usually their sandwiches are good. However, sometime they fail in a bad way. Ironically, in this case the meat and cheese was overcooked and the the sandwich was lukewarm at best - fail. Also, in this particular case, I did not include a tip because the last time I ordered and tipped, the dasher failed to ring the bell - so NO TIP (To Insure Performance and is supposed to happen AFTER service, not before!) Unfortunately, for Mr. Pickles, I have decided that I will no longer frequent this location. I've made a complaint before and they corrected that complaint, but I don't have time to keep repeating complaints or questioning if my order will be correct or not. It's been more than 3 strikes. Between the No Au Jus and the 1/8 of the pepperonis delivered I figure they stole $0.89 for the missing 7 pepperonis and $0.99 for the absence of Au Jus - but really $1.88 does not make up for the lack of service. I go here at least once a month on my way home from work for a fast dinner night. The convenience of ordering on the app, putting in all my preferences and paying ahead of time make this an easy dinner night for me. My family can go on the app and send me their order so I just have to walk in to pick it up. The sandwiches are perfect every time and you can't beat the choices. Let me preface this by saying. The staff were super super friendly!! However the food was terrible. Two sandwiches, the large ones I guess which are about 6inches each two chips two drinks with tip 50 dollars. The bread was stale on the edges and the meat has a slightly spoiled taste as if wasn't getting used and they just kept it. The chips were good soda good but for that price. Ordered two regular sandwiches with the works and one BLT. I was shocked at the size of the sandwich for the price, seems really expensive. Everything was fresh and they do put a decent amount of "the works" on the sandwiches. I think the BLT is way over priced. Four pieces of bacon, lettuce, tomato, and Mayo for $13.99 seems crazy. Great sandwich selection I ate there for lunch 3 different days and everything I had was delicious.

As always the ingredients were very good. The problem was the size of the sand which for the price. We paid $15 for a chicken sandwich on a sourdough roll. The roll was so small that when cut in to share, which we always do, one half only equaled 2.5 bites. I don't know if they are now using smaller rolls by choice, or if this was a fluke. It was quite disappointing after being a customer for the past 25 years and eating at Mr. Pickles all over the state. Not sure if it is worth it anymore. read more

I clearly asked for No Onions, No Pickles and No Pepperoncinis on my sandwich. And as soon as I got home and unwrapped it, I saw onions hanging out. Turns out, ALL OF IT was on my sandwich and I had to pick it all off. Of course you can still taste it though, which ruins it for me. Also, there was hardly any chicken, and the bread was slightly damp on one half. If I'm paying over $16 for a sandwich, AND tipping on top of that, I really expect it to be made correctly. I was warned about the Dutch crunch. Our family got a bunch of subs and they all looked really delicious. Nice fluffy bread, lots of toppings. However I got the Got Beef. It had a good amount of meat but my sandwich was a smushed sad sandwich. Maybe the Dutch crunch is better on a cold sandwich but on a warm one the crunches become very tough in texture and kind of shred up your palate. Like Cap'n Crunch. All the other sandwiches were beautiful and enjoyed, hence the four even though I had a sorry one. read more

Review based on 5 or 6 visits since moving to Lincoln last year. Pros: - The food is usually good. (However, see Cons below.) It can be hit and miss, though. Wife usually gets a salad, and while the last one was good, the one prior to that had hardly any of the "good stuff" (meat, cheese, etc.). 2 visits ago, they were out of tri-tip (at 11:00 AM). Overall, the average sandwich is better than Subway, and maybe on par with Sourdough and Co. - The complimentary cookies are a nice touch and are usually pretty fresh. Cons: - As I said, it can be hit and miss. My last sandwich was the BBQ tri-tip (they were not out this time). My fist bite, the meat and fixings tasted very good, but then I quickly noticed an unexpected texture. So I looked and realized the roll was completely stale! Like, I could use it as a door stop. Hard and crumbly. There is NO WAY the person making this sandwich could have thought this was an edible, fresh roll, but they served it anyway. I had to toss the whole thing. Verdict: - We may go back in a few weeks to see if we have a better experience; and honestly most of our previous visits were OK (hence the 3 stars). The employees here are always so nice, like they go out of their way to make sure they understand your order and they are ready with suggestions if you ask. I didn't take a picture of my sandwich because I scarfed it down but they're soooo good. A little pricy (but in this economy everything is) but I think the portions are good. Stopped by Mr. Pickles for lunch after visiting a friend, the location is easy to find, parking is good for its size and they have a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating. Let me start by saying the sandwiches where great, made exactly how we asked and packaged nicely. We got the option and f pickle or cookie (one of each since two sandwiches) and the nice woman at the register let us know about the deal they had going on that day. I cannot express how fresh the food tasted, I either got really lucky or they use really good quality ingredients. No part of the sandwich was over done and it was made exactly how we asked during the lunch rush. The menu has a lot of items so it might be smart to check it before you go. Also they keep the seating clean inside but don't take as much care outside, trash was full and the tables had left over food from previous guests. Overall still a great experience. read more

Oh my gosh, the Santa Fe salad is delicious. The Baja sauce is what makes it. It was the one in Lincoln right off the main drag - Lincoln Blvd. I have been watching my carbohydrates so it was somewhat of a treat for me to have a regular (breaded) sandwich. My original plan was to just eat half of whatever I ordered. That turnout to be a joke .. in other words, my plan failed .... the sandwich was really good (fresh, tasty and generously sized) giving me no choice but to eat it all. The Italian (so-called cold, specialty sandwich) was my choice. It included dry salami, pastrami, sliced dill pickle and black forest ham. I'm only giving a 3 because the sandwich's were really good and fresh. The customer service was terrible these girls who work there clearly have no manners and I used them as a example to my employee who is there age telling her that if she had customer service like that I would write her up. We live in a fairly small town and customer service should be exceptional and this lacked it to the fullest. People couldn't even walk in without a rude comment to close the door because the air is on really not a hello, thanks for coming it was close the door the air is on and wait outside if there isn't room. If I was the owner of this place I would really look at who your hiring. This place tastes so good and the sandwiches were so fresh but I would drive a little father to go somewhere else where I feel Like my money is wanted.
