OMG this is NOT typical of Panda Express restaurants - and I have come close to being a panda specialist because my husband grew up frequenting them and because of my love of chinese food & lack of great chinese available in some non-metro areas we have had to live in, I'd succumbed to high patronization of Panda Express - I have yet to see this menu category in any other Panda Express. Anyway, I think they may also have a drive-thru (don't quote me), which is a plus in cold-weather locations. I also liked the edifice itself; contemporary, sleek, modern, clean, more so than other locations I've seen. I'd actually love to go back. There are MANY great food places to visit in Chicago! And if I find myself visiting the City soon, I think I'd make a quick pit stop here. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that Panda Express has vegan options. Ever since I found out it's been one of my go to restaurants when I need something quick. We all know Panda Express. Either you love it or you hate it. Me? I have a horrible affliction for it and find the orange chicken and sesame chicken way tasty. That being said, I'd usually give any ol' run of the mill Panda a solid four star rating. But this Panda? It's a little more special. This location is fairly new and as such everything is still shiny, super clean and looking modern. Employees are really friendly and they have every food option a Panda could possibly have. I've been to some that are missing this option or that option. All that is good and great but what makes this location a little more special? The Tea Bar! I've never seen a Panda Express with a tea bar before. Pretty darn cool that you can get bubble tea in there, smoothies, lemonades...a variety of fun non-alcoholic drinks. Absolutely love that idea! Hole staff is helpful, professional and accompanying. Also work great together under pressure. Nice new looking store. But they are way overworked for the amount of employees there. Who are very friendly but either super slow as there was a line out the door the whole time I was there. Or they are getting and filling first way too many UberEats or Grubhub orders. Or again just too few people. There was only one girl doing the walk in orders and I think she would sometimes have to fill pick up orders while doing this as well. They kept the pans filled. Constantly calling out for half filled pans so that was good. But the slow crawl of the kind was nuts. And the food. White rice and chow main noodles were super dry. Ragoons were almost burnt. So dry was the cheese and the wonton was brittle to cracking. And not in a good, crispy way. The main courses were decent. But I had to ask twice for extra walnuts on the honey shrimp. The second time I sighted for good measure that I saw that there were barely any walnuts in mine. The green beans in the Shanghai steak were shriveled up and wrinkled like old skin. Overall the employees tried but I think they were way understaffed for how busy it was with both people coming in and delivery orders. And there are some kinks to work out with how the cooks are making things. read more

I went in to grab lunch for myself and a couple co-workers, the portions were significantly smaller than I've had at every other Panda Express and the Sweetfire Chicken was terrible, it kind of had too much orange chicken sauce on it but also had the Sweetfire sauce so it was really weird and a bit much, but one thing that totally did it for me were the amazing amazing tea options! Fast, friendly service. The staff always offers free samples (pre COVID). Clean location with great remodeling done recently. Parking near target can be tricky so keep your eyes peeled in the lot! Panda is on a slow decline - or I'm picking all the wrong ones. I know I shouldn't eat here anyway because there are so many better Chinese places but when you're hungry... So not only has corporate pulled all the tofu - in Chicago at least - but tonight at this store I asked if they would stir fry veggies in mandarin sauce.
