Panda Express is saving my life in Maui. This review is, admittedly, bias because my affection is primarily due to having a food option that my bank account can tolerate. $10 for a bowl of orange chicken and chow mien is a survival tactic for me at this point. Jokes aside, this location is easy to access and has not been overly crowded either time I visited. The staff have been friendly and efficient. For some reason, the drive through isn't open but I did notice hiring signs on the window so perhaps it's a staffing issue. Going inside to order works just as well. If you see me at Panda Express during my time on the island, just know I'm doing what I can to not return to the mainland as a pauper. read more

5 plus stars! Last year we had an unfortunate experience. Fast forward t this years visit to this location while vacationing. BEST PANDA EXPRESS! All I can say is wow. I ordered using the mobile app and when we arrived our order was ready as promised. We were greeted with a smile by two young ladies as we entered. We picked up our order and ate in the restaurant. The dining area was very clean and inviting. Our food was both hot and fresh and the serving portions were generous. Our faith in this location has been restored! 6/28/2021: Here's my Panda Express Receipt proving I ate here after visiting Minit Medical for my eye infection. Sadly, I was feeling exasperated, since my left eye was puffy, running like an open faucet; I needed Chinese Comfort Food STAT! Anyway, Panda Express is the only "acceptable fast food" I'll eat aside, eating Foodland's Poke and steamed rice purchased from their deli counter; in fact, not only did I eat at the Lahaina Panda Express, I ate at the Kailua-Kona, Big Island Panda Express, too. Both Panda Express Restaurants are decent restaurants but, I must give props to the Kailua-Kona Chef for making everything delicious. Still, I think the Lahaina Panda Express Chef must have a meeting with the Kailua-Kona Chef in order, matching the same sauces and same quality. Moreover, I want complimenting the Wait Staff for carefully wrapping my to-go plate; I explained I was riding the Maui Bus so, the Male Wait Staff went into the kitchen with my to-go plate, he wrapped it with Saran Wrap, and carefully placed my meal in the Panda Express paper bag. Why would someone visit Panda while in Hawaii you may ask? Well this location has been on point for the couple of weeks since being in Maui. Staff is always friendly and you can tell the cooks love what they do because the food is always great! Inside clean and nice and cool and just all around good place. The drive thru was closed walked in two customers ahead of us in line ordering. They had at least 6 workers all were speaking in Filipino language to each other while taking orders, cashiering and cooking. The Kam pao Chicken had more peanuts than chicken and vegetables also it was very oily. We asked for chop sticks instead of forks and to keep the fortune cookie which seemed to irritate the cashier. Do not go here a half an hour before closing. Right now they close at 7 PM. The dining room closes at 6:30. I was told that I had to use the drive-through. There were four, no more than five cars ahead of me by the time I got to order it was just before seven. There were three options available for the entrée. They really need to put up a sidewalk or window signage that says the dining room is closed, I saw at least a dozen people trying enter the dining room. Other signage that entrées will be limited through the drive-through would be helpful. I could've saved myself 1/2 hour of time. As there is only one way out of the drive-through and I did not order any of the items that I don't like, I had to wait until the person in front of me exited. It was frustrating. Unnecessary. And even though I live in Napili, I will probably avoid this location for many many years to come. read more

This review is for their catering service which I was amazed by due to their efficiency. The west side's one and only Panda Express is located across the Lahaina Cannery and Lahaina Gateway shopping centers, in a cluster of other businesses including Walgreens, Starbucks w/ drive thru, and a yet-to-open Burger King (as KFC pulled out.) The inside is clean and spacious, with regular and high top tables, and a few outdoor seats. A drive thru is available. We were on our way to the west side to have lunch at another establishment, when my mom tells me that we had to also visit family in Lahaina because someone recently passed the day before. Thinking back to when my dad passed last year, the family we were about to visit brought over tons of food to us, which is what local families do to ease the burden and show respect. I reminded her of that gesture, which she was so glad I did, but then asked "Where are we going to get food from in Lahaina?" With such short notice, Panda Express came to mind as I know they do catering. Thing was, do they require a minimum amount of time for catering tray orders? My spouse phoned in, asked questions, and in less than 45 minutes, we left with a half pan of mushroom chicken, half pan of beef broccoli, and half pan of chow mein in hand, complete with heavy duty plastic sporks and a tong for serving, neatly stamped with "Panda Catering" on them. What a nice touch. The half pan of entrees were $40 each, and the half pan of chow mein was $18. SERVICE: Phone and in-person service was quick and friendly, something that's evident at many of the PE's I visit. OVERALL: Extremely fast and efficient catering option! So why not a 5? We are still not eating out in sit down situations. Went to panda express tonight. Called our order ahead. It was great because we could pick up our called in order from the outside window. Did not have to go inside at all. We did have to pay with a plastic credit card. They have not gotten into the CV 19 headspace of accepting digital currency via my Apple wallet. When I asked them that I wanted to use that form of payment - they hardly even knew what I was talking about like I was from Mars. Regardless, our order was executed perfectly. The food was great, as always from this location. What's really nice is where this location is located , a drive-through Starbucks is right next-door, accepting digital currency, across the parking lot is Burger King, also accepting digital currency. All in all we love this place and the people working here are great. No attitude. Just happy to be working, unlike other places serving fast food we've found throughout the USA. read more

Ate at Panda Express because we were stuck in some heavy traffic heading back to Lahaina so for a quick dinner I said let's just eat at Panda Express. It's in the same shopping center as Walgreen's. 2-entree plate & 1 side is $8.79 + tax .37c = $9.16. I got chow mein seemed to be made fresh, tiny thing of mixed veggie, & some kinda gross hot & sour soup. Don't get the soup! I should have gone with the Kung Po Chicken that looked good to me. OK am I going to compare these 4 stars to an actual restaurant? NO! But for fast food, we were happy to find this easy dinner after a very long day of driving. No one was up for manners and sitting for food - we wanted quick, comfortable, reliable, casual. We brought this "home" and ate it in our hotel room watching TV just trying to relax - it tastes EXACTLY like it does at home, and for fast food, consistency is king. It means a lot to a Mama when her kids are satisfied with dinner after being so HANGRY. Thanks for the consistently tasty orange chicken, Panda Express! Feel bad that I have to leave two stars. Huge Panda Express fans. The closest one where we live is over 45 min away and we happily drive there all the time to eat. We just visited the one in Lahaina for the second time this past week. We just got home tonight to eat and unfortunately we found thin strip of plastic in our daughter's bowl tonight (see pic) and the order was not 100 percent correct. This was the second questionable experience at this location. We visited last week and the order was not correct, the fortune cookies were stale and the Rangoon's were empty (see pic). The staff (via drive thru) was friendly and courteous, but they need tighten up a bit. I feel terrible leaving a bad review because we visit Panda quite often, but I have to call this one out. read more

Panda Express - nothing extraordinary, but super convenient with its drive-thru and perfect to-go spot. Reliably salty mainland Chinese dishes with a ton of side options (just the way I like it), but they also have some healthier options for those are into that I go directly to my night job from my full-time day job, and Panda is on my way to my second job so it's a typical stopover for an always hungry gal like myself. They have awesome catering options - my boss is a HUGE Panda fan (we even had it for her office birthday) so we frequent their pick-up and catering. You can order online and even set the time to when you'd like to pick up - soo great for the office and parties! I really like their to-go containers too, makes it easy to transport I like the panda bowls with brown rice, steamed veggies and broccoli and beef - they chow mein, springs rolls, orange chicken are all staples too, you really can't go wrong! I really appreciate that they ask you if you'd like to donate your change to charity, and who doesn't like a free fortune cookie with their meal?! Rudest service ever! In the drive thru. First they couldn't get the order right. Then the female couldn't figure out how the orders at panda work. We asked for an orange chicken plate they continually kept added walnut shrimp bowl. Then they put the orange chicken in a bowl and said she couldn't make the plate. She is the one that did the order incorrect 4 times! The male was a little better and fixed the order but was rude as well. I am not sure why management or maybe corporate has decided that tea shouldn't be served anymore unless its bought in a bottle. First the raspberry iced tea was stopped, then earlier tonight I was told that they no longer have passion tea which I prefer less than the raspberry but would still rather have over soda. Maybe the employee just didn't choose the right words and meant that they ran out for the night? That I can understand, because they would need to make a new batch which would take a fair amount of time. But I did ask if they had ANY sort of tea and was told that they only had bottled tea. Also big manager dude, chill out. You push your employees too much. If you add more pressure to expedite faster, that is when mistakes tend to happen. We are from Canada so don't have this chain and I assumed it was like Manchu Wok, a super American style Chinese food. This place had really good flavoured and crispy chicken and beef!
