Came later on in the day, pretty near closing time. I was shopping around the mall and was feeling a little peckish and remembered that I had a Panda Express birthday reward burning a whole in my virtual wallet. I hurried my booty to the food court and quickly decided upon the small entree option (free) with a side of vegetable spring rolls (not free). There was no line so, service went quickly and my choice of entree was scooped up in no time. The newest offering was the firecracker shrimp and steak, naturally I ordered that. I was surprised that at the end of the day the shrimp wasn't completely gross, it instead was a little overcooked sure but, springy and seemed relatively fresh. The steak could have been more plentiful, I had a lot more shrimp than chicken. Also, the firecracker sauce could be spicier but, I understand that not everyone likes to scorch their palette. I just think with rice this meal would be rather bland but, then again I didn't order rice so...it was decently flavorful. The spring rolls reminded me of high school trips to the mall and being on a tight budget, they really don't have much filling or taste except for texture- they're uber crispy and that is fun for me. Drown them in sweet and sour sauce or hot mustard/duck sauce and it's a low calorie nostalgic treat. read more

Since relocating to the Mid-West FPO and I have encountered several gastronomical challenges in our culinary adventures. One of the main ones being we can't find good, authentic Chinese food. Well, maybe that's not entirely fair. I doubt anywhere in this country has "authentic" Chinese food because everywhere you go, the food is going to be influenced by the region. Chinese food in Hawaii is very different from Chinese food on the West Coast, the East Coast, and it's verrry different from Chinese food in the Mid-West. Panda Express is Americanized, fast food Chinese and it looks like it might be the closest to what we're used to. But, as we learned the other day, even Panda's is different. I'm sure their recipes must be the same because they're either corporate stores or franchises but I think because their sources are different, even with this we found it's different. I ordered a plate with the noodles, teriyaki chicken, and honey walnut shrimp. Everything tasted different. The noodles were more bland and more oily. The chicken was probably the best thing on the plate. It reminded me more of teri chicken in Hawaii. The shrimp was smaller and had a fishy taste to it. At first I was worried I would get food poisoning but after a few hours and I was still fine, I decided it must just be the restaurants here are getting their ingredients from a different source. I can't say I really enjoyed this first Panda experience but I learned from it. Next time I'll go with either the greens or the fried rice and avoid the shrimp entirely. There will be a next time ... eventually. This really is the closest thing I've found so far to the Chinese food in Hawaii. I must be getting homesick. read more

This location at the Oak Park Mall food court offered good portions and tasty food, but I found the counter service to be hard to understand and they only offer super greens on weekends. I'm a big fan of splitting my side 50/50 between fried rice and super greens, like I have many times before at other Panda Express locations, but I was disappointed to see that this location only had a clean, empty bowl at the counter where the super greens should have been on a Thursday. This healthy option is only offered at this location on weekends. Otherwise, everything was A-OK. read more

I usually buy two small to go containers of different entrees, one of which is often teriyaki chicken and the other has veggies. That's plenty of food for lunch, and the calories are only 600-700. The fried rice is pretty basic. They need to use bok choy as their vegetable offering sparingly. It gets old if you want an entree with vegetables. read more

Best customer service! We stopped by for lunch mix-week. The customer service was exceptional. They displayed kind, courteous assistance combined with those "extras" that make the customer want to come back. For example, they packed our bag with a chili sauce and soy sauce. They thanked us for our patronage. The proportions were perfect: the food was fresh and delicious. Good experience. We will be back! read more

"Hi can I please get two kids entrees?" This is what I asked directly to two employees that were looking at me ready to serve. Then they finish their conversation about days off and visiting parents. They heard me, but their conversation wasn't over. When they finished they looked back at me and waited for me to repeat whatever my request was. "Two kids entrees with orange chicken and Lo mien noodles and Sierra Mist to drink" After she poured two waters and rang up our order she said "Oh wait, I made two waters not Sierra Mist, my bad they were both clear" Chicken was so cold, dry and chewy and low mien noodles were hard and cold I had to beg my kids to finish their food. Maybe I'm spoiled. I live in an area where the two Panda Express locations are new, and clean and very busy. The two times I've stopped they have been great. read more

This poor woman in a motorchair was getting yelled at by a girl that worked there named Diana with glasses she was being so rude to the customer she made her almost cry she was so disrespectful to this poor lady she needs to be told how to treat people and customers especially the disabled she threw a fortune cookie on her tray after the lady repeatedly asked why she was yelling and raising her voice at her just horrible read more

Panda Express is great Chinese food...if you're a) white (I'm half, which explains my half-enthusiastic review :-) or b) don't care about authenticity. Like the mythical spaghetti and meatballs (which they don't have in Italy), "orange chicken" and "broccoli beef" are the dominant favorites on this menu. Both of these are caricatures of real chinese dishes - but if it's late, and you are really craving something close to Chinese food, and they are open, why not stop? read more

This Panda Express is really great because if something is almost gone and you'll have to wait a long time until the new batch is made, the manager/owner will give you the 'scraps' for free or at a discount. I'm not saying you should 'wait around' until something is almost gone and then order it because it doesn't always happen, but it's just a great example of good customer service. The food is always good and hot, and it was where I was introduced to the 'Panda Bowl', which is 1 entree and rice or pasta for under $5. What a great deal, especially since with an entree, rice, and rangoons, the meal can get up to $8. (Expensive for me, anyway!) The panda bowl is also a good size for lunch or if you get full quickly on carbs, which I usually do. :) Also, the bowl is less space for them to over-load you with rice (because that usually means I'll eat it all!). read more

I have been there once. We were at t-mobile and it smelled awesome, so we decided to go in. I had heard that Panda Express has really bad Chinese food, but i take chances. I had really been missing good Chinese food. So we walked in and it is pretty busy, no big deal. We got up and ordered. There is not much of a selection, and it is not Chinese. Oh well, I will give it a go. We got our food, which was Chow Mein, Kung Pow Chicken, some other kind of chicken, and rangoons. The rangoons were tiny, and did not taste good AT ALL. The Food did not have any flavor, tasted like pure MSG. Pretty gross. The chow mein was kinda good, but I am not going back there for it, I have had better. The only good thing was the size and value of the drink. All in all - pretty effing gross. Would never recommend. read more

The service lady was very helpful. She offered a taste to help with decisions. The kids ate and we all had a nice lunch at the mall.

I will not be going back to Panda Express. This was my first visit to any Panda Express, and I have had a lot better Chinese food at Hen House and HyVee -- not to mention it is less expensive than Panda Express. I went at the dinner hour - 6pm on a Friday - so the food and service should have been at their best. There was only one other patron, and literally had no wait. I got it to go, and 2/3 of my Styrofoam container was the half & half rice/chow mein mixture, which makes the price charged even more steep since those are very cheap staples. The rice -- very starchy, tasted half-cooked, and I suspect it was instant rice rather than real rice. The "Chow Mein" was actually pretty good -- liked the thin noodles -- but it was really Lo Mein. Orange chicken and Mushroom Chicken were okay, but again, for the price, too little of it in the container. Cream Cheese Rangoon were okay, but smaller and the wraps were more delicate than I've had at every other Chinese restaurant. The Chicken Egg Roll was terrible -- the mixture inside was mush, and could not tell one ingredient from the other. Lastly, they need to replace the cashier and hire one that can count change. My total was $10.85, and the cashier asked if I wanted to round up to $11.00 to donate to a children's hospital. I said okay. I handed her a $20 bill, then I gave her a $1 bill and said asked that she just give me a $10 bill back. She said she had already punched the $20 into the register, stuffed my $1 in the children's charity box, and proceeded to give me only $9 back. And she didn't put the original 15 cents into the charity box. Okay, so I gave a dollar to the children's hospital, which I don't mind at all, but she made such a mess of the transaction, all I could do was walk away and not try to explain it to her. She was confused enough already. Good Luck Panda Express!! I will not be back. And I should have gone to the Chipotle a few doors down. read more
