In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month we decided to Vist PANDA HARLEM. They have valet parking for $40, I don't think is necessary due to the fact that there's plenty of street parking. For $40 I'd rather park at a pump lol Entering the restaurant you are immediately greeted by a friendly host, she did try to sit us at a horrible table located by the stairs lol. However, I can say when I asked for my seat to be moved, they did so instantly .The restaurant have 2 bars and plenty of tables. We order the following: Shrimp dumplings Lobster spring rolls Vegetable fried rice Shrimp lo mein The food was lovely and super hot served right out the oven. You Taste lobster in every bite on the lobster spring rolls, the shrimp lo mein have the perfect balance of sweetness on the noodles lol The waiters are supper attentive Only negative is that the food and drinks are a little pricey and the waiter did take forever to bring our check. My friend & I decided to try Panda Harlem for dinner & overall I'm very pleased with the experience! We started with drinks my friend got the Dragon Fruit Mojito & I got the Panda Margarita. Warning the Panda Margarita is pretty spicy lol. For food we ordered the Rock Shrimp Tempura, Beijing Chicken, and Shrimp Fried Rice. I really liked the food, it came out nice and hot. The food portions are definitely shareable. To end our night we got another round of drinks, this time I opted for a classic Margarita. Again, it was delicious had a natural lime taste and I could really taste the don julio. The manager also sent over a chocolate mousse which was delicious! The place itself has dim lightening and is pretty spacious. They played good music the entire time, I really enjoyed the r&b hits. The service is also amazing, from the hostess to the waiter who was so attentive. I would like to return! I recommend this place for a date night, birthday or any celebration. Located in the space previously known as Solomon and Kuff (which I absolutely adored). So the space itself is cute, exposed brick, graffiti walls, with a flair of fancy dining. My favorite part of this restaurant is the vibe (their music selection is great/ trendy, but also timeless songs). The music is a bit loud, not gonna lie, but I personally didn't mind it. The dining area towards the bar is dim. Great for a group outing. Now for the food, I wasn't the biggest fan. We ordered a ton of appetizers and they were ok, not bad, but I've definitely had better. The Bao Buns we're the most memorable out of all the appetizers we ordered. My least favorite was the chicken satay because of the thick peanut sauce drizzled on top. I had reservations for 8 PM; I arrived around 7:50 PM and was shown to my table right away. I was never told about a 90 minute time limit for the table- so be mindful of this! We decided to start with the chicken wontons. I was served something that looked completely different than that on the pictures on Yelp. Our chicken wontons looked like fried undercooked meatballs! The texture and taste was so off that I turned the flashlight on my phone on to see what I was served! Inside the wontons was a mystery meat, gummy, chewy and flavorless... not even the sweet chili dipping sauce could save it. The chicken wontons was chicken meatballs with no seasoning, bland AF! For our main courses we went with Chicken and Broccoli and Filet Mignon and Broccoli... let me tell you the Filet Mignon was cold to the touch! As soon as it came out my boyfriend ate a piece and he noticed it was cold- he tried another and same result. We let the waiter know and they took the dish back and came back in like two minutes! -- NOT EXAGGERATING! Now I am not saying it was microwaved but that thing came back piping hot! How they managed to get that food that hot in two minutes? I cannot tell you... The broccoli in both dishes was nearly inedible, pretty sure the broccoli was raw as it was extremely hard. The rum punches were good; they were strong and had good flavor. I also enjoyed the cheesecake for dessert. Another issue aside from the food was the extremely RUDE hostess who came to shout that our 90 minutes were up... Maybe if your tables are attended to in a timely manner you would not have guest waiting for their bills and passing the "90 minutes" time limit- Why offer customers dessert to rush them out of their table mid meal? As we were leaving, the same hostess waited for me to pass by and gave me a little entitled smirk, as if she accomplished something big in life. When the bouncer saw me react, he got the manager and the manager exchanged numbers with me to discuss my experience... I took the time to reach to him and no response. I'm a lifelong NY'er and I love Harlem and supporting Harlem businesses so this hurts to write. I'm leaving a one star review because last night we got bait-and-switched on the price of our drinks. It said $16, and we were charged $21 per drink. This isn't about the money, but the principal of a business coming into Harlem and lying to people. (I would have been fine to pay the amount we were eventually charged if that's what was on the menu). Our previously good night was soured and we left with a really bad taste in our mouths (not because of the drink!) but because it felt like I got scammed. The bartender told us it was tax but that would have been $1.50, not $5.50. If you go, don't be surprised if they charge you hidden and unadvertised fees. Valet was $40 alil overpriced if you ask me especially when they block off the whole block so they could park the car for you . They only had a pre fixed menu for nye. It wasn't busy at all but the service took very long. My date ordered the Beijing chicken which was really salty and the chicken seemed overcooked. The fried rice taste similar to your local Chinese restaurant and all clumpy. My food took even longer to come out cause they forgot , I had the filet mignon and broccoli which was surprisingly really good, tender and flavorful fresh broccoli. The chicken satay was tasteless, no flavor at all, bland. The chicken wontons were good. The drinks were really good made well I highly recommend the dragon fruit mojito. Music was tasteful. Nice ambiance, great photo opportunities and good vibes. The security checks your ID at the door and you're not allowed inside until the full party is there. At the bar I had a NY sidecar and it was amazing, strong and delicious. Once we were sat, the server came over after a few moments and we all orders another round of drinks , these weren't as good as the ones at the bar. On this fine day, my daughter Brandy decided that I should try this restaurant since she has been here recently. So off we went. As you can see it is dimly lit, spacious with a little quirks of seating areas like the one near the entrance, or the two tables that are near the main bar or the upper seating area. As we were seated and introduced to our server Jay, we began to view the menu. We order the scallion pancakes for appetizers and oh my so good. The hoisin sauce topped it off. I could have eaten them without the meal. But onwards I must. We ordered the chicken & broccoli and lobster spring rolls for the main meal and they both were good. The broccoli had a nice crunch even in the brown garlic sauce. I like the sweet chili sauce that came with the lobster spring rolls. While we were waiting for our food, a gentleman approached our table and ask if we wanted to smoke a "hookah". What?! No thank you, but I saw a couple smoking as we exit out. Evidently he is the salesperson for selling hookahs to customers for Panda Harlem. On the bottom of the receipt it reads "A convenience fee of 3.9% is applied to all charge card sales. As an incentive for customer we now provide an immediate discount of 3.99% when paying with cash". Also, they automatically charge a gratuity fee. Good food and good conversation. My girlfriend and I enjoyed everything. The decor, the music, the drinks, our waitress who helped ease our decisiveness with her suggestions, the FLAVORFUL and just darn good food. I will say, certain menu items says it serves two guests and while that COULD be true, if you're the type of person who enjoys leftovers then it's one a one stop meal baby. Perfect amount for eating there and eating later. Now it is pricey! You are paying high amounts for things that you can get at your local Chinese spot for much cheaper (sans the lobster cuz what spot in the hood has that) BUT this is the type of spot where you're paying for the full vibe and experience and that I'm here for. The food was plated to perfection which I admired. My favorite and go to for the next visit would definitely be the lettuce wraps. It was plenty and tasteful with bits of chopped veggies and ground chicken drenched in a dark sweet and savory sauce. Two shrimp were fried crispy on a skewer with a yellow (mustard looking) sauce covering the bottom of the plate. For dinner, I ordered the filet mignon & broccoli and chicken & broccoli with a side of vegetable lo Mein. I have to say that the same meals ordered at my local Chinese restaurant in Westchester yields more authentic flavors and portions than Panda. So, I'm uninterested in ordering those meals again. I'd rather try something else on the menu or stick with ordering appetizers. One thing the server failed to mention was that white rice came with the entree. In which I was pleasantly surprised by. I'm giving them 2 mediocre stars because the artwork is cute, the tufted seating are a chic concept, the music is immaculate, the red door is fun, the drinks are yummy and strong, I like the logo/color and advertising, the service was great, and the menu really gives Authentic Chinese vibes. I think they will struggle to get above mediocre scores or consistent business...the food was really NOT that good. Could've done without the filet Mignon should've just gotten simple fried rice. And, 4 prawns for $32 which were not really good is a NO BUENO. The drinks start at $17 fyi. And, this restaurant is brand spanking new...idk where they thrifted their seats from but like all of them are very obviously stained...such pretty velvet tufted seats are gonna require frequent shampooing. When you first walk in there is a small section to the left and more seating further in the back. The staff were nice and accommodating for the most part. She didn't seem too apologetic about it either. The food was so subpar...I have had better take out than this. The chicken bao buns do not order! They are bland and literally had chicken with unseasoned pieces of potato with it. The scallion pancakes were fried and came with oyster sauce (the sauce was very overwhelming and did not go well at all). I got the shrimp and broccoli thinking I was playing it safe. Came here for brunch on a Sunday as a party of 2. When making my reservation, I noted that I would be using a Pulsd voucher and provided the code in the reservation notes. Fast forward to the day of the reservation, I received a call from the restaurant 2 hours prior to my reservation to confirm and at no point in the conversation did the hostess mention my Pulsd voucher. We arrive to the restaurant on time and as we're being seated she sees my code on the reservation and says to us that they no longer accept Pulsd. We asked how much brunch is normally since we were already there and she lets us know that you must be a party of 4 for the brunch menu but we can add bottomless drinks to anything we order off the dinner menu for $25/pp...we decided to leave. After contacting Pulsd to get my money back since Panda wouldn't honor the code, they informed me that while they no longer sell new vouchers for Panda, any previously purchased vouchers should have been honored. They also informed me that Panda was already paid for my voucher that they would not honor. Considering it was completely empty on a Sunday afternoon, you would think they would do whatever they could to attract and keep their customers. I have been to Panda once before for dinner and had an ok time. After this experience, I will not be back by my own volition. read more

Pros: The food was really good. Very nice waiter & hostess. The art & decor is immaculate. Cons: This place use to be a warehouse, and it is noticeable when you walk in. Although the art they installed was flawless, there is still a feel as if you're having dinner in a huge basement/warehouse. My opinion is to renovate further so it does not remotely look like a warehouse whatsoever. The price does not match the location. Another problem was that you have to make reservations, which is fine, but they give you a 15 minute wait grace period. After that, you will be denied a table. I thought this was silly due to the empty tables I saw all around. When I tried to change it to another hour , The hostess said "they were all booked." Extremely inconvenient. My opinion to fix this is to give patrons at least 30-45 minute grace period like other restaurants. The last problem I had with this place is that you only have a 90 minute period to eat and smoke your hookah. It was given Covid protocol , and it's been 2 years since that. Another issue management must solve for the price that Is paid. All in all, I loved the food, the waiter , and the decor. And even the hostess. Very nice and attentive. My food wasn't that great kinda dry had the salmon. My fiancé food was great drinks were great DJ was the best. Ambiance was dart and cozy waiter was very attractive I would go back again just for the DJ. read more
