    Oxtail, mashed potatoes and broccoli

This is a nice trendy place known for, their Friday happy hour and Sunday brunch. I was bored this past Saturday and I heard a lot of good reviews about the food, especially the oxtail. I got there around 8pm. There weren't many people there. They had a DJ who was pretty good, if you like late 90's early 2000's music. The menu is Caribbean/Soul food fusion food. I ordered an appetizer which was the oxtail, Mac and cheese egg roll. They were absolutely delicious. For the main course I went with the oxtail with, mashed potatoes and broccoli. Everything was delicious. The oxtail were tender (falling off the bone) it was seasoned perfectly. The mashed very a perfect consistency and they tasted homemade. The broccoli was cooked perfect as well. The price was $28 and I might say well worth it. I also ordered a margarita with lime juice and seltzer. The drinks were not strong at all, and a little too sweet for my liking, but the food made up for that. This is my new favorite place for a nice plate of oxtails.

Went for a friend's fundraising event and they served Brunch and I have to say the food was very good the ambiance music and atmosphere the service and drinks could of been better the drinks were very light felt we drank juice instead of sangria and rum punch they served but either than that it was a good time

Happy hour food selection is very limited but it's very yummy and good value (except for the fries, I wasn't feeling it). The happy hour drinks were a real good bank for the bucks and not watered down as you'd expect. They say reservations are not required but having gone there on a Friday night, trust me it is needed because it got PACKED!! Their service got a bit hectic the busier it got, but overall no complaints, a time was had for real. The dj was rocking out all the old school hits which was a vibe and very fitting of the population. I liked that the volume of the music was the right balance between turning up and being able to chat without having to shout.

If you want an Old school vibe this is the place. The food was ok. Music was pumping!! They have a cute happy hour menu but be careful Bronx mule is not on happy hour menu. Great service. Our Weber was on it, especially since it was a larger group. The place is across the street from Jacobi hospital. The average might be 50 plus. If your a young old head you will like it too

I recently discovered this spot and I've been there a few times. The last time was 2 weeks ago. I went to an event called Lemon Drop Thursdays and the Lemon Drop drink was delicious. I went for brunch 2 times before that and the food was delicious and the service was great but it's really busy on a day that is crowded. The atmosphere was excellent and the DJs that be there play the best music. It's a really dope spot!

We jumped over to the bar right beside and drank some girly drinks before getting the notification our table was ready. As with nearly every establishment in NYC, it is very close quarters in paradise lost. We stood at a table while waiting for seats at the bar to become available. Which, we didn't mind. I could see how this might be a little harder to get a seat for a bigger group if you aren't there before 6. It seemed that once a group got a big table, they camped out. The drinks were strong and creative. Friendly bartenders, good music, and yummy options for bar snacks. Also, the bathroom is a nice touch. Given the hell theming for the bar, the bathroom is a 180 and while using the Lou, you can listen to the bible being recited. Theres also a spooky surprise if you press the button in the bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom, it is at the bottom of some decently narrow stairs. So, try and stay sober enough for stairs or you may fall. Go to this bar. You will have fun.

We wanted to have after-dinner cocktails in a chill space, so we searched on our phones & saw Paradise Lost address via Google. We proceeded to walk down & was unable to find the establishment due to their being no front sign. After walking back & forth a few times, we saw another group walking towards the door & they confirmed the place. We walked inside the front door pressed a "doorbell" & lo & behold we gained entry after the previous group went inside. Definitely an incognito entrance. Once inside that door there is someone to greet you, & take your information. There is a forest/ grass/ jungle-looking foyer/ hallway we walked down to get to the next door. Before we knew it, we were near the "Paradise Lost No Vacancy" neon sign w/ an arrow pointing towards the snake-shaped knob door. It gets opened & a supercool speakeasy awaits.... Paradise Lost has mixed style table / seating arrangements throughout the place. A bar seating section, booth-style seating area, lounge- style seating area, etc. We got there a little after 7pm, so the afterwork crowd was in full swing. Paradise Lost has interesting atmosphere. At times a Gothic / Medieval Vibe, meets place w/ shipwreck decor, meets eleganct /club vibe w/ beautiful ceiling lighting, etc. Music played in the background. Staff are friendly, energetic, & attentive. We were pleasantly overwhelmed w/ the vast selection of tiki cocktails that were on the menu. Paradise Lost also have an intimate selection of snacks/ food menu items. This included Popcorn, Tater Tots, Devilled Eggs Rangoon Dip, etc. We ordered some cocktails served in unique tiki mugs & a bucket of popcorn to munch on w/ our drinks. The popcorn is flavored w/ Sea Buckthorn & Browm Butter, which gave it an special flavor profile. Our cocktails were well-prepared & nice & strong. Paradise Lost has individual unisex bathroom stalls & a communal vanity & sink area. The bathroom stalls have spooky voices coming from a speaker as you use the bathroom. I was so humorously taken aback, it had me laughing when I came out...Definitely a different thing to experience in the bathroom - lol. Before we left we watched one of the bartenders do a cocktail "fire" presentation for some patrons in a booth seated area. Wow.... Paradise Lost accepts walk-ins only, no reservations. Paradise Lost accepts groups of 8 or less, unless you are requesting to book the space for a private event. Ages 21+ paradiselost.nyc @paradiselostnyc Paradise Lost is open everyday - 5pm-2am.

I wanted to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday on Saturday, May 16th, and after searching a few places, I settled on Sobro Garden especially after finding out it was one of Jimmy's spots. We celebrated with 30 of our closest family and friends, and it truly became a night he said he'll never forget. Where do I start? Let me begin by saying Sobro Garden, you guys did NOT disappoint!! First and foremost, thank you Jimmy, because when I tell you this man went above and beyond to make everyone feel like family at his establishment, I truly mean it. Jimmy personally checked in with everyone going table to table making sure everyone was enjoying themselves, asking if everything was good from the drinks, atmosphere, music and food was to satisfaction because he genuinely wanted everyone to enjoy and especially told my husband it's a blessing to hit a milestone, celebrating with family and friendsand hope his place made it a memorable one. Jimmy is truly a perfectionist at heart. A host beyond host!! Even taking pictures with everyone. He took several pictures with my husband and even accidentally walked away with his iPhone for a moment & my husband allow his too he didn't realize it was his phone until I told him. Our maître d', Suhaily, was such a beautiful soul inside and out. She made the entire booking process for my husband's event feel effortless. She guided me step by step, helped choice a menu plan, stayed in communication the whole time and was so patient, kind and welcoming the moment I arrived. Her smile and warm hearted present made the experience even better. She greeted me as if we knew each other for years and our waitress and waiter? Absolutely AMAZING. My husband, our guests and I were attended to with such PRISTINE EXCELLENCE all night long. Now let's talk about the FOOD... because BABY!!! Everything was DELICIOUS. I can't even single out one item because every dish hit the spot. Everyone at our tables ordered something different, so we all got to taste a little bit of everything from the pernil, steak & onions, grilled salmon, chicken, arroz con gandules, fried fish, steak skewers and BABY... those famous Crack Wings Rub had everybody wanting to eat their fingers To top it all off, the highlight of the night was seeing Melle Mel celebrating his birthday from the day before and actor Darrin Henson, so handsome in person was also in the building. Both were so down-to-earth and when Melle Mel grabbed the mic, he absolutely brought the house down!! Thank you again to EVERYONE at Sobro Garden for making my husband's 50th birthday celebration such an UNFORGETTABLE Experience. We will DEFINITELY be Back!
