I've been coming to panda inn since my 19 year old daughter was In my belly n she's a sophomore at SFSU. This restaurant is high quality n their consistency is alway on point. Their waitress n waiters always treat me n my family with up most service. Today At their la Palma location we had the pleasure of having Miss Karen as our waitress. She checked in on my husband and I making sure we were satisfied every minute. At the end of our dining experience I told her the story of how I've been along time fan of panda inn n how the general manger Manny had been taking care of our family n loved our babygirl n now she's n college. Wow, this place is popular for brunch! There was a line at 11am when they opened. It is a tad expensive which is why they didn't get 5 stars. But the food was plentiful, varied and fresh. Even the huge tray of tuna and salmon sashimi was excellent. The desserts leave a lot to be desired but I'm not much of a fan anyway. Hubs LOVED the bottomless mai tais and I had straight champagne. They have all the chinese dishes you'd expect plus my favorite, honey walnut shrimp. Yum. Plus dim sum, chinese chicken salad and much more. We will go again, just not sure how often at this price. Love the food and the service is great, few people have told me this is not authentic chinese, and yes I am not chinese, but this place beats most of other I have had. With age my stomach has become less tolerant of many foods, so I always have to watch what I eat if not I'll pay for it, it's always good to come to panda and know I can eat without being scared, fresh food made to order. read more

This place is our absolute favorite when we are going with a group- which is just our family. They have private rooms in the restaurant and a large lazy susan for fun family serving style. We love their honey walnut shrimp, Phoenix chicken, upside Down crispy noodles just to name a few. We always get wonderful service and are always seated quickly even with a large party. First off I called and the person "Michelle" answers the phone and tells me no reservations are taken for Sunday Brunch. I asked how long of a wait for 2 people. Michelle tells me no wait at all. Literally 2 minutes later I arrive at the restaurant and I'm told 35-40 minutes because people are making reservations ahead of me. I asked why I was told no reservations when people are making reservations??? Michelle just looked at me and couldn't provide an answer. I guess this is acceptable Chinese food. It's not bad. It's not authentic Chinese food. But then again the food that was ordered was not what a typical Chinese family would order. We had a large group for a birthday lunch. We were quickly seated at the back room of the restaurant. Service was good. Food.... Um food... Alright it was ok. I like this place purely for one thing, the Chicken Low Mein noodles. I come from London and its a weird thing to say but our Chinese food is 100x better than anything i've tried over here on the west coast, especially the noodles. But at least i've found something i really REALLY like, it still doesnt compare to the chinese in London but it does taste really good in its own right. The noodles are definitely thick and greasy, much larger than any other chinese, it comes with chicken, mushrooms, bean sprouts and bok choy. The sauce is pretty good and goes well with the noodles. Also who can argue with fortune cookies dipped in white chocolate YUMMY. the service isnt bad and the price is good for the amount of food you get. Nice little joint, this place is pretty air conditioned. Had lunch here the other day, and while the food is pretty much Panda Express-ish, the ambiance and decor makes up for it. Gotta try the Spicy Trio and the "wokked" edemame appetizer. Could have been 4 stars but my buddy found a nat (fruit fly) in his dish and lost his appetite. Food was nothing special and definitely over-priced for the quality. The quality is comparable to none other than... dunt da dunnn: Panda Express! (but a SLIGHT step-up from the fast food chain). Pretty good food, although it's sort of a sit-down, slightly pricey, nice-atmospheric version of Panda Express. I'd probably go to Panda Express more. It caters more toward the non-Asian crowd certainly--well, just having only forks by the napkins are a dead giveaway. The menus are pretty extensive--certainly much more choices than Panda Express. Some of the dishes I've tried were Brocoli Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, honey walnut shrimp, and chow mein with vegetables. The flavors were pretty good. The honey walnut shrimp was crispy and sweet but I thought the mayo was a bit too noticeable. The service is nice and attentive. Good, clean, higher-middle class atmosphere (compared to many Chinese restaurants I've been to)--the stained glass at a room I was in gave a slight Spanish feel. A group of 5-7 should fit comfortably--there are several rooms in the restaurant which you may notice as you go through a long hallway. I came here with coworkers. We noticed there was no Lazy Susan at the table, which was unusual. There are plenty of parking available as it is part of the business center. If I wanted Chinese food, admittedly, I'd probably try to go for something a bit more bolder in flavor, but that's me. This place is pretty good, It is part of the Panda Express chain, but dont let that turn you off. It's deifnately an upscale restaurant from the express. On Sundays they have a really good Brunch. I've taken my family their for Mothers Day more then once. Honey Walnut Shrimp and the Sweet and Pungent shrimp are my favorite. One bad! So this place is actually the parent company of Panda Express! They make food here and ship it to the chains. Everything here was pretty good we ordered the upside down crispy noodle that was a huge portion but my daughter loved it because it was really crispy! I ordered the tofu and spicy eggplant plate which was delicious. We ordered the beef fried rice which was a bit greasy with no carrots and green onions just perfect for my daughters liking. We added the hot and sour soup which was filled with pepper and I couldn't even finish my bowl. I would definitely come back here again and try more of their dishes. Ok so before I bash I will say I do love this place but for some reason they just cant get their fried calamari right.Ive tried multiple times hoping it would be like the first time which was amazing.I called and asked for extra crispy but when i got home it was completely under cooked and you could wipe the breading away with your finger.How do you fuck up frying something? Decided to give this place another shot after their store manager invited us to come by and try the Sunday brunch again. He was little rushed to take our drink orders, and when he came back he ran off before we could put in our appetizers or Alcohol. When he did come back, we ordered the mince chicken lettuce cups as an appetizer. For our meal we order Walnut Shrimp and my wife order the Kung Pao Chicken with Low-mien and lots and lots of rice. At that point we didnt want any alcohol cause of the impression of the server. The server brought our Lettuce cups and prepared them for us-which was nice_ but his service was without a smile. He looked as if he didn't want to be there serving us or doing his job. When the main course did arrive, it was ok. The rice was fresh and had hint iof sweetness to it. We stayed at the La Quinta behind the restaurant and wanted somewhere close. The food was pretty darn good. I had sweet & sour pork. My bf had beef lo mein. He didn't complain, so that means it was really good on his scale of goodness. Mine was good too. Took my leftovers to the room and feasted again the next morning...for breakfast, lol. For the most part the food is always fantastic. I've been coming year for over 20 years. The food is delicious. The service on the other hand...well, it sucks. Usually I get take out. The lady at the front desk is always nice, but when you're actually seated and being waited on. Service is horrendous. Today they had one girl working the whole section. It wasn't full by any means but she couldn't keep up or something. The people across from us sat there for fifteen minutes with no service. I'll keep coming for the food.
