Love the food here, been going here with my family for birthdays, graduations, etc. But today's service really just left a pretty bad taste in my mouth for how the situation was resolved. We ordered about 10 different dishes to eat family style. Only 8 came out it was about 40 minutes into dinner and we were all already full. So I called the waiter, then leading the waiter to bringing the manager over. So I can ask that the 2 items be taken off our tab because it was find paid it no mind but didn't want to pay for food we didn't received. Then he says give me a moment, goes into the kitchen and brings the 2 orders 40 minutes and explains that it takes 20 minutes to make, which got me a bit aggravated because we had received a dish extremely similar to it with the same protein already. Just a deep fried version. One being the rice roll with fried shrimp vs the rice roll with shrimp. The two missing being the rice roll with shrimp. After we ask for boxes, meals over moods kind of weird now. Same said manager gives us the machine to pay our tab. As soon as he hands it to us leaves I fill out everything grab my receipt, no one to take the machine or anything which if it wasn't weird enough that kinda just closed out a bad experience. Took my parents to dim sum - my mom was so excited to go that she was in "rush rush" mode...wanted to go straight there before anywhere else, drop her off at the front entrance, called us several times to make sure we were coming since we were parking the car, flagged us down while on her phone calling us YET another time to hurry up. Was it worth it? Yes! Have not been to Lunasia before (shock), but have been brought the takeout before so great to finally experience it. The interior was beautiful, and loved the orchids at the table. The food was delicious - I loved everything my mom ordered, EXCEPT the taro cake with beef, but taro is not my thing. I went to the Pasadena location years ago and did not think it was worth it so I was a bit reluctant to try out this location. It was very crowded so be sure to make a Rez. We ordered a mix of everything but the standouts were the jumbo shrimp and pork hash and the fried pork chops. read more

This particular location is located in a busy shopping center so parking can get tight during lunch/dinner rushes. Decor is modern with nice lighting. My party was seated immediately upon arrival. This place is a little pricier than the usual dim sum place we go to like Great Seafood House (which sadly is now closed), but it's worth it. You get bigger portions and it's all tasty. We have always ordered to go and have never eaten inside so I can't say much about the ambiance. The staff seem friendly though, even when we pick up orders. A good alternative to Din Tai Fung Dim Sum and other Asian dishes. Came on a Wednesday afternoon. We had such a hard time opening the front doors due to the air pressure changes, for a moment, I thought the restaurant is closed till someone pushed the door open from the inside. LOL! We were seated and hot tea was served right away. The fresh and live orchards add a nice touch to the ambiance. We then proceeded to ordering our dishes by scanning the QR code on the table. We ordered the following: Century egg congee, which is our all time favorite, and this time was no exception, we devoured it. The abalone lotus leaf sticky rice, loved it! The pork ribs, my daughter love it. The wanton soup- no flavor, meat was too dense, wanton looked big and clumsy, won't order it again. The reason I love coming back to Lunasia is that they serve dim sum all day every day, where some places only serve dim sum on the weekends at a certain time block. They have a kiosk where you can put your name down on the waitlist. You can also place a to-go order through this kiosk as well. I haven't had to wait more than 30 minutes every time I came here, which is a plus on my books. As soon as we were seated, we were offered a pitcher of iced water and a pot of hot tea. The dim sums here are bigger, which is why I also like this place. My usual order is Spinach & Shrimp Dumplings, Jumbo Shrimp & Pork Sui-Mai, Crispy Shrimp Roll Shrimp Rice Noodle, Jumbo Shrimp Har Gow, Egg Tart, Twin Sesame Ball (3 pieces), and Egg Yolk Bun (3 pieces). A friend and I came here for lunch. It was my first time here. There was a wait list, but it was quick. We signed in and was called almost immediately. It was packed and very busy and I see why. The service was so quick AND the food was amazing! Now that's what I call "fast food"! I will definitely come back! Came here on a busy weekend so it's a good thing I had reservations. I ordered on their QR code, which redirects to their website. I like it because you don't feel rushed to order and there are pictures of the food. Rice Noodle Roll w/ Shrimp ($8.70) - Tasty with large shrimp and a side of vinegar soy sauce Salted Fish & Chicken Fried Rice ($22) - My favorite because it was slightly buttery with the saltiness from fish and flavorful chicken. Veggie Crispy Bean Curd ($6.50) - My second favorite because the crispy of the bean curd complemented the veggie filling. Jumbo Shrimp Har-Gow ($11) - 6 pieces of har-gow with a jumbo shrimp inside. I thought this was a bit doughy. Scallop Dumpling w/ Squid Ink ($8.40) - This was good, but there was only bits of scallop at the top while the rest was shrimp filling. Pan-Fried Turnip Cake ($6.50) - I was disappointed with this since I was expecting a crispy texture, but it was soft. The service was good and I liked that they left a bottle of water on the table for me to fill so I don't have to wait for the staff to come by. Second time coming here with family, and it continues to impress. This place is always popular for dim sum, and for good reason. The restaurant is clean with a modern, contemporary vibe. We waited about 30 minutes, but it was totally worth it. The process is very efficient -- check in on the iPad and order through the QR code system. Unlike traditional cart dim sum, everything here is steamed and cooked to order, so every dish comes out hot, crispy, fresh, and perfectly prepared. I'm pretty picky when it comes to dim sum, but this is definitely one of the spots I'd recommend. Great place to come with family and friends. I came here for lunch with my in-laws and let me tell you, Lunasia did NOT disappoint. We were seated right away, which is always a great start. Usually at dim sum restaurants, there are ladies pushing carts around and you have to flag them down and hop the have what you're looking for. Here, you just scan a QR code assigned to your table and order exactly what you want, with everything made to order. Makes it way easier and way less stressful. We ordered a bunch of food including har gow, siu mai, chili wontons, har cheung, and stir fried water spinach. Each item that came out had HUGE portions and was stuffed with pork and shrimp. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. I definitely felt like we got our moneys worth. I will absolutely be coming back to this location and already can't wait until next time! read more

I love Lunasia! It was my first time visiting this location and I must say the Alhambra location is much cleaner. The food and service were great no complaints in that department, but the floors were dirty, I had received a dirty cup for tea, and the restrooms were super gross. This was my second time here and wow what a disappointment! We had a decent experience the first time (3 years ago) but returning was really a letdown. We made a reservation but the staff didn't seem to know what was going on (nor care) since they also have a self sign in waitlist service. That's whatever, annoying but tolerable. However, the food-- yikes. We ordered two shrimp hargows for the table and one of them came with undercooked shrimp. The long noodles with beef was not good. The meat was hard and tasted old. The ribs were good and tasted as expected. The porridge was also fine. We didn't complain about the shrimp so that's on us but really there wouldn't have been anyone to flag down. They pretty much only run food to you, there's no actual service. It's like fast food dimsum but with sit down prices. Something went wrong in the past few years and I will not return. read more

We ordered a variety of dishes to share: * Whole Fried Chicken - Great Crispy skin with juicy meat. A crowd favorite and perfect for sharing. * Stir-fried Jellyfish Head with X.O. - Good Nice crunch with savory XO flavor. Light, refreshing, and a solid starter. * Assorted Barbecued Combination - Good A reliable trio of BBQ meats--tender, flavorful, and nicely glazed. * Salted Egg Yolk Shrimp - OK The salted egg coating was rich but didn't bring out the depth of flavor we expected. I've been to this restaurant twice now, once at the Pasadena location and once at the Cerritos location, and both visits have been consistently great. Be prepared for a line, because it gets busy right from opening, but thankfully both times I went with a larger group and we were seated pretty quickly. Honestly, going with a big party is the move here anyway, because it gives you the chance to try a lot more of the menu. Between the two visits, I've had a pretty wide variety of dishes, and I can genuinely say everything has been good. Some of my personal favorites were all of the vegetable dishes, steamed BBQ pork bao, deep fried seaweed roll, Peking duck, cucumber dish, Mongolian beef, wontons in chili oil, Singapore-style curry vermicelli, beef chow fun, and the sesame balls. There's a lot to like here, and the quality has felt very consistent each time I've gone. Another big plus is the staff. They're efficient, organized, and do a great job handling the constant crowd without making the experience feel chaotic. The whole atmosphere feels lively and upbeat, full of good food and people clearly enjoying themselves. The only real downside for me is the price. For dim sum, it is definitely on the pricier side. I know a few other spots with similar quality that are cheaper, even if they're not as convenient for me. Still, I would keep coming back here because the food is reliable, the service is strong, and they seem especially good at accommodating larger groups. Both times I went with parties of 10+, and that alone makes this place stand out. Overall, a solid place for me. Private dining at Lunasia. I had no idea there was a private room! Decent sized room that holds about 40 people. Each table was able to order anything they wanted for the table (we had a dollar max per table) and it was a lot of fun. It was dinner time so we ordered some Dim Sum, soup, and lots of other dishes. Service was excellent! The dishes just kept coming out. We had way too many dishes for the our Lazy Susan but some how the servers helped to make it work. They were excellent refilling our water pitcher and hot tea! Food was very good. Dim Sum - the Siu-Mai (Pork & Shrimp and Jumbo Shrimp & Pork) were great! The Crunchy Shrimp Rolls were excellent. The steamed veggies (Bok Choy) and pickled cucumbers were excellent. Both the Baked and Steamed BBQ Pork buns were flavor lacking, some were using the Chili Sauce to flavor them up. The Duck with Steamed buns, very good. The BBQ Meat platter was great. The food was definitely freshly prepared. Definitely would recommend private dining at Lunasia. read more

Sesame balls are dripping oils, udon fried noodles isn't fried, it's more like sautéed, slightly soupy. Dimsum food are just so so. Some picture and description of food on the menu aren't the same with actual food and they said it's because they've made changes to the menu but haven't updated the system ‍ I remembered going to Lunasia Alhambra a long while ago and remembered the food being better there, not sure how it is now. This place is on the pricier side for dim sum But despite the cost, I still enjoy it because the quality is definitely better. We weren't super hungry, so we only ordered a few dishes to share. Since it was during the soft opening, the service was a bit lacking, one server seemed to be covering half the restaurant, and it was pretty busy. The food came out quickly, but it took a while to get the check and have our water refilled. We ordered: Shrimp and pork Sui Mai ($6.18): These were larger than the usual Sui Mai you get elsewhere. Fast forward years after their soft opening ..this place is still popular! It was hard to snag a reservation on OpenTable. I came on a weekday around 2:30 PM. There were still quite a few people inside, but no line, so a reservation doesn't seem necessary during weekday afternoons. They handed me a paper with a QR code to order, and I declined the hot tea which turned out to be a good call since most places charge per person for it and I can't have tea bcuz it interfere with iron absorption. I forgot how huge the portions were. The shau mai was massive -- took me four bites to finish one. Same with the rice roll with beef -- super generous filling, more than most places. But I think they charge extra for the sauce? I wasn't sure which one to use, and whatever came with it, i think just regular soy sauce, didn't really do the job, so that ended up being my least favorite. Surprisingly, the chicken feet were the star !super meaty and flavorful! Loved it so much, and it was the only dish I managed to finish completely. Service was decent. They gave me a big jar of ice water to refill on my own, which I actually really appreciated. We got Jumbo Shrimp Har-Gow, Rice Noodle Roll w/ Chinese Do, Chinese Broccoli w / Oyster Sauce, Macao Style Egg Custard, steamed chicken feet, wonton & chili oil, and fried rice. I love the dim sum it was super flavorful, delicious, and easy to chew. I would give this a 5/5 since this is the best dim sum I ever had hands down. The service was amazing & employee is very nice and friendly. The store has a great atmosphere, spacious, and clean. There is plenty of seating. There is plenty of parking. We had a reservation for 12:30 pm through OpenTable, and it was crowded when we arrived a little early. A few groups were waiting before us, but we still got our table at our scheduled time. You access your table's specific ordering website via a QR code. While I like physical menus since they reduce screen time at the table, the website made ordering highly convenient, especially beneficial for a bustling restaurant. The bustling ambience had a modern aesthetic with fast pop music playing in the background. I appreciated that the shades automatically went down during lunch service to block out the sun. Also, each table had an orchid, which made for a natural and pretty decoration. Our large order included chicken chow mein with black pepper sauce (crispy noodles), shrimp and pork wonton soup, bean curd rolls with pork and shrimp, stir-fried Chinese broccoli with flatfish, Mongolian-style beef, Macao-style egg custard, and mango pudding. I definitely felt a food coma after our filling lunch. The food is pricey compared to similar Chinese restaurants. While the Lunasia franchise isn't our go-to source for Chinese food, it's reliably good in my opinion now having visited this location twice. In general, I enjoyed the food. Except for a few minor issues, the quality overall wasn't lacking. For example, chow mein cooked as golden-brown noodles topped with a black pepper slurry is my favorite Chinese dish, and Lunasia did a great job with it. The desserts were tasty, and I'd recommend the mango pudding if your table still has room for dessert. The Macao-style custard was warm and subtly sweet. I had a few minor issues with the shrimp and pork wonton soup. While the wontons' filling and wrapping tasted flavorful, the broth was inconsistent and a little bland. While the Mongolian-style beef's sauce wasn't bland, it didn't really stand out. The beef was still tender. Also, the English menu didn't say that the stir-fried Chinese broccoli would have flatfish. It doesn't say what the Chinese broccoli comes with actually. Only when looking at the receipt did we see that the dish included flatfish, which was written in Chinese as "大地魚." I believe this would've only be stated in the Chinese menu. The flatfish was included just as tiny bits that didn't really affect the overall taste, however. Service was great in my opinion. For example, one server got us the right size and type of to-go boxes without us needing to specify. They had the blinds put down automatically. The servers were prompt with minor requests we had. Also, one server was proactive with helping us use the app. It eventually got difficult to get any server's attention, but it wasn't that big issue for us by then. Overall, I appreciated the efficiency, service, and quality of this location. read more

My sister and I have been wanting to try this local spot but there is always a line. We decided to try our chances and luckily, the day we went there was little to no wait. Ordering is easy. You pretty much do everything through an app. Order, they bring you the food. Then you request your check to pay. No real customer service. It's more of an in and out process. Turn and burn, if you will. They're clean and modern interior with remnants of Covid with clear and high dividers. The food was good but not great.
