23 Dec 25, driving from Ct to northern Vt, roads got bad and pulled off in Brattleboro for a hotel. Saw this restaurant close to hotel and said " we could do some Chinese food". I ordered the Szechuan beef and beef lo mein, wife had California dinner, 3 cali rolls and a small salad. Wifey said they were fantastic, super fresh, she loved it. My beef and lo mein was the bomb, never had Szechuan beef before, but this was so tasty, didn't skimp on meat, not to spicy, same with lo mein. Put it this way folks, where we are in CT, you can throw a stone and hit dozens of Chinese, Japanese, sushi, or Thai places, heck we even have Tibetan one. We could drive 20 min and hit 30-50 more. But Jon were as good as this place, we laughed and said to each other " hey do u want Chinese food ? Yeah. Welll where do u want to go ? Let's go to Brattleboro!!!! " That's an hr and 15 min away. We also joked, but had some seriousness to it, they need to bring this place down to CT or someplace down in CT needs to steal this chef ! read more

We stopped in for Tuesday lunch and got take out. They had the food ready extremely quickly, and most of the menu can be made gluten free. We had the fried rice lunch special, and the shrimp with lobster sauce lunch special. They both came with egg drop soup. It was about $30, which is pretty reasonable. There was a ton of food. They also pack it in a hot bag, which is great. Speaking of which, the food was VERY hot. The fried rice was delicious and I really enjoyed the shrimp with lobster sauce. My husband loved the egg drop soup. A great place to stop for lunch in Brattleboro! read more

The hunan chicken was tender and saucy, the veggies had a perfect crunch and the sauce was good and spicy!! Definitely would recommend!! Could have used a bit more rice for the portion of food served. I had to order more to take home with my leftovers. This restaurant recently jacked their prices. Unfortunately the Japanese quality has declined. They don't use top quality seafood for their sushi or sashimi. The result is the sashimi is, at best, average. Trying to find a better Japanese restaurant within in 25 miles. read more

Crab Rangoon, cream cheese and fried shell. No taste of crab. Ordered 4 pcs. of sushi. She asked " with rice or without"? With rice please. It came sashimi, no rice. I ordered something called, "Lamb two ways", said spicy, nope. Also it was to have a lite sauce on one side, and a heavy sauce on the other. Came out in one pile, I sent it back. It came in two this time, so I ate one entire side first, then the other, except for the scallions on one side, couldn't tell the difference. Lamb/Beef, that was another miss, no lamb flavor at all. I have been eating at Panda North for as long as they have been in existence. In my opinion it's the best Chinese restaurant in Brattleboro. The food is always good, and plenty of it. I can get a takeout dish from there and it can last me 4 meals! They will also honor food requests if you have allergies which I do. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal. read more

Feels a bit more authentic as a Chinese restaurant than Panasian, but a bit more run-down building. I think we got a better selection of Szechuan shredded beef, tofu with bean sprouts, cold noodle with sesame sauce and wonton soup. Overall, lucky to have this place in Brattleboro and obviously they have to cater to the demographic of folks here so I won't be too hard. Good - Sesame cold noodles was great! Time for another quick update. Panda North remains an outstanding casual restaurant with delicious food, courteous service and quite reasonable prices. On our trip there last week we sampled the sushi (yes, at a Chinese restaurant in Vermont they do a high-class sushi and sashimi) and then scoffed down the Mala Chicken and Mala Scallops, both perfectly and spicily flavored, so tender, so... ahhh, just really good. The wonton soup and hot and sour soups are wonderful. And the restaurant has spiffed up the interior a bit so everything looks a tad fresher. We can't say enough good things about Panda North. We've been visiting here regularly for the last 10 years and they maintain consistently high quality in everything they do. read more

Really good moo shu beef, but a very small serving in my dinner take-out. Ginger chicken with string beans lacked ginger and the chicken was quite dry. Larger amount given than the moo shu, though. My wife and I went to Panda North tonight for the second time. We were looking for a restaurant the first and found Panda North. What a great find! I had a combo meal with chicken and seafood and my wife had beef and seafood. There no words to describe how delicious these dishes were. This is an amazing restaurant. After a long drive to Vermont, We decided to stop for some sushi. I found this place in the area where we are staying. We came from CT, and it's hard to find Chinese/Japanese restaurants with indoor seating. We got there around 7pm. It was quite, a few people eating. Our waiter was kind and helpful. We ordered some sushi , appetizer & a drink. We noticed that the Chinese food was the most popular food in the restaurant. Our sushi & appetizer took around 20 minutes to be served. Our waiter let us know about the wait time for our food. Overall good sushi and good portions for the price. Service was good read more

This is a very dependable Chinese/Japanese restaurant with sushi and Japanese entrees along with a wide variety of Chinese dishes. The people who work here are lovely folks. Went to this little place thinking ehhh maybe it will be ok enough to get us through the night. My husband got cashew shrimp, mom got snow peas chicken and I took suggestion from waiter and got amazing chicken. The flavor of each dish was incredible. This has been my daughter's favorite for 15 years. As with any restaurant, there are good days and bad, but they are warm friendly caring people and if you order right you can't go wrong. Personal go to is shrimp with black bean sauce or the The twice sautéed pork with bb sauce. Salt and pepper shrimp is always great. Cali rolls are my kid's go to. A classic restaurant in Brattleboro and a family favorite. I can't tell you how long I've been coming here, but it's been a long time. For my meal on this visit, I ordered a classic menu item that I used to order a lot as a child ... the poo poo platter. And yes, I used to order it for the name alone. It's basically a mix up of a variety of appetizers on one big dish, and it's meant to be shared. I washed it down with a Scorpion Bowl for two (shared with my wife) which is made up of a variety of liquors and fruity flavors. My son ordered the duck breast and it was cooked perfectly, because I made sure he shared a little bit. This was not the peking duck, but rather the one with pine nuts and some other good gracious tasty goo sauce on it. I'm also happy to see that the same style mints are available upon exit that were there when I was younger. My only complaint about this visit is that it took a while for the waiter to attend to us. We had a reservation and were seated quickly, but he didn't come over for another ten minutes or so to even take drink orders. read more

Pleasant atmosphere. Many vegetarian options. I ordered the vegetable tempura. It comes with rice and miso soup, a salad with ginger dressing and sushi rolls. The rice noodles and sauce are perfect. The miso soup is exquisite. Wonderful taste. Just the right temperature as well. The vegetarian shushi was made with soy wrap as I had asked and was excellent! Nice dipping sauce. The tempura had a nice delicate batter and the Veges were excellent. I got green beans, onions, mushrooms, sweet potato and some others I don't remember. They gave me some dumplings but they were seafood so I did not try them so I cannot report on them. If you like Japanese or Chinese food this is an excellent choice to eat. Second try: Service is good. Lots of menu choices. Chose the chefs special of eggplant and tofu and green beans. See picture. The "flower" is a sweet potato. I got the vegetable roll appetizer and should not have. It was cold and tasted frozen. But the entree was huge and delicious. It was a sweet dish and very nicely seasoned. Wow. We were SO disappointed by the reviews. Not sure what I was expecting for Chinese food in Southern Vermont, but this wasn't it. I ordered the House Fried Rice and an egg roll, and my husband got the Lamb Mali. Plate presentation was good; see photos. The meat in the rice was good, but the rice itself had no flavor. So disappointing, and it took me quite a bit of sweet & sour sauce to even eat it. The egg roll was typical of fast food Chinese. I ate it, but it wasn't good. It was pretty greasy, too. Husband said the Lamb Mali was "just ok". He said the meat was tender but didn't have any flavor at all, but the veggies were good. The dining room is beautiful and large, and their menu was extensive -- even indicating what type of dish it was (Cantonese, Szechuan, etc). So even seeing THAT after reading the Yelp reviews, we got excited. Their plate presentation was even pretty, with large portions at reasonable prices. And it was packed -- obviously a local favorite. But this was a total miss for us. Frankly, I'd rather get the $6 combo at the mall food court. This just wasn't good. I've always had excellent experiences here, and make a point to drive the extra twenty minutes rather than suffer through my more local Chinese restaurants. Everyone that works here is engaging and friendly, and it's legitimately superior Chinese food--super fresh and high quality ingredients. I'm a bit of a beef lo mein aficionado and theirs is the best I've ever had. Cocktails are fantastic too! I can't wait to enjoy food in the restaurant again, but so happy there's a takeout option in the meantime. Just wish I could order online! read more
