We tried Zalman's last weekend during a staycation at the Kingsley. The food was great but I wanted…read moreto recognize and compliment the service. Mya was our server and she went above and beyond. One of our kids ordered french toast, and somehow we missed that it was topped with a fruit compote. When Mya stopped by the table she immediately saw that my daughter was not happy and asked if she should put a new order in. We declined because we wanted our daughter to try it before she made up her mind, and learn from the experience. Mya came back again and could tell that there was no way this kid was going to eat the french toast. She insisted on putting another order in, saying "I just want her to be happy", and it was clear that she truly meant it. Thank you for a wonderful breakfast - we will be back frequently!

I arrived at Zalman's alone for breakfast which is located within the Kingsley Hotel on iconic…read moreWoodward Avenue (highway #1!) and was greeted promptly by hostess, Sydney. I was a little disappointed initially to be seated at the short bar as it makes me feel like I'm in elementary school due to the height, but this was a busy Saturday morning so I understood as it seems there are limited 2-tops, etc and this visit was at peak hours. It was nice to see the daylight coming through the windows which also made this a relaxing venue. While I was sitting there I was able to observe a lot as the short bar is next to the case displaying many delicious treats. I really laughed to myself as I noticed a couple of future Yelper's (one was 2-year toddler and his probably 4-5 year old sister (possibly celebrating a birthday) make a prompt trip to checkout the dessert offerings first! They were obviously "regulars". I was greeted by one of the wait staff, Mya, who was friendly, served me a coffee and indicated my server would be with me soon. I appreciated seeing the teamwork among the staff. I was eventually served by Owen who was helpful and I ordered an egg white frittata which came with a side of mixed fresh fruit. While I was waiting on my food, I had a vantage point where I could see several entrees come out. I also witnessed one of the two Chefs smiling as he was looking at and preparing the orders which I found interesting. The frittata included spinach, tomatoes, goat cheese, apple chicken sausage, and was delicious. I was still a little hungry, so I realized the future Yelpers mentioned earlier had it right, and I ordered a carrot cake cupcake which Owen mentioned was a good choice. The frosting was delicious and the moist carrot cake was tasty as well. The overall restaurant was hustling and bustling on this morning, I had my coffee cup refilled multiple times and even noticed additional children observing the case with the desserts. I enjoyed the overall experience and did not feel rushed at all, but more like a customer!

I love the history of this brand and that it has been going strong since the mid-1960's, well before my time! I wish I would have had the opportunity to meet Olga herself, as I'm sure she was quite an impressive woman. The original Olga is incredible, from the gyro meat to the pita bread, tomatoes, tzaziki, and everything in between... yes, please! Pair it with a fresh Greek salad and/or some curly fries and thank me later! On a recent visit to the area, my Dad was craving Olga's so we went to this location to pick it up for him. We called ahead and the staff was not the easiest to work with, but that's okay. Sadly, my salad had a few bad pieces of lettuce and they forgot to give me my pita bread -- and we didn't realize this until later when we brought the food to my dad. I would take off a star or two for this but can't bring myself to do it because I love this brand so much. Needless to say, I'll be back and would be thrilled if Olga's were ever to expand to Arizona.

When my food came out, there was sauce on the sandwich. I asked for it to be remade. They said fine. I waited patiently. 10 minutes, it's coming. 15 minutes, it's coming. 20 minutes, it's ready. They nice young man at the counter goes back and I can hear the kitchen say they don't know where it is, and they'll remake it. At that point, I'd just like my money back and I'll get dinner elsewhere. It took 2 minutes between when I heard that and when my sandwich came out. This is not a hard order. They are not cooking anything to order for me. The manager never came out. The nice young man was apologetic and I don't blame him. The fact that I had to wait over 20 minutes for them to redo my original Olga without sauce is unacceptable. I will not be returning.

The flavor was so good that I could easily see myself wanting it every day. That said, it's definitely on the expensive side for a latte. I'd get it again as a special treat, but it's not something I could get regularly. The space is cute and modern, but it's definitely more of a grab-and-go type of spot. It's a small space with very limited seating and it gets pretty crowded, which is understandable given how popular it seems to be. Because of that, it's not really a place where you'd want to settle in to work or hang out for a while. The only seating available is a small counter by the window with a few stools, and the shop can feel a bit hectic when you first walk in. One thing I also appreciated was the bathroom. It was very nice, clean, and private, which is always a plus. Note: They start serving lunch (sandwiches, pizza) at 11:00 am.

The location of the store is in a pretty tight small shopping center. Parking can be limited when it's really busy. The only seating option is along the front of the store. There also isn't much space inside the store but I did appreciate that it didn't take too long to get our drinks and pizza. We ordered the hot honey burrata pizza, tiramisu latte and agent latte. Esthetically, the tiramisu latte was pretty but the whipped cream is so thick I didn't feel like the combination of flavors mixed very well. The agent latte was okay. The pizza...I had such high hopes but ultimately wasn't very impressed. I'm not sure if I would've felt differently if we had been able to eat it right away. But almost $30 for the pizza (size is slightly bigger than a trader joes frozen pizza), we didn't think it was worth it. They did have a refrigerated section of pre made pastas and salads that looked good. And they do sell quite a few other products (coffee, collagen powders, etc).
