The thing I like most is there is a variety of food including healthy food and also good desserts and bakery foods. Many items like salads and sandwiches can be highly customized on the self order kiosk in the restaurant. The dining area is a relaxed atmosphere with free wifi. Some people complain about portion size but the "You Pick Two" option comes with a side as well and I have never left hungry. 5 stars for dependability, easy ordering and a good dining atmosphere. read more

The app needs work: this store is terrible at receiving mobile orders and having the ready within 20 minutes. They always blame the system. I ordered 2 bagels and it took about 5 minutes longer than the website said, so I asked. No one in the store could make my order of 2 bagels for another 12 minutes. Next time in the website was down completely, so I came in and had to use the kiosk to order because they can't take a gift card at the register for some reason. Got to the end of an order of $40 breakfast items for an event and they needed a PIN number for the gift card I saved on my app profile. The employees gave me a number to call and said they can't help me. I called and on the third try got through to a real live person who confirmed the department was closed on Sunday. Third times a 'charm'. I was able to finally use my gift card on the app, came in and food was almost ready. One order was wrong, but instead of fixing it and making the sandwich correct, they just gave a cup of missing ingredients so we could do it ourselves. Girlfriend and I ordered food on the mobile app, and went by to the drive through to pick it up. Gave them the name on the card for pickup, and they pulled and order from 2 - 3 weeks earlier. I mean, no harm no foul here, it was an honest mistake... A mistake I noticed after I got home, of course. Still, I called in, and Lisa - the GM I think - took the call. She was very friendly and helpful, and got the right meal ordered up right away, all I had to do was come pick it up. Was there a mistake? Yeah technically, but having worked CS and retail myself, I always try to recognize how someone handles a mistake, instead of focusing on what went wrong. Came in at 3 pm on a Saturday for a late lunch. No customers in line ahead of us so we were able to order straight away. Hubs and I each ordered a Pick 2. We both thought our items tasted good but agreed it was expensive for what we got- I got soup and salad, Hubs got soup and half a sandwich (total with one drink was $26). We thought Pick 2 was a combo meal but really you get charged a la carte for each item. It's an upsell tactic. Hubs felt his half sandwich was small. If I could give zero stars this review would be that. Having eaten way too much at Panera in Sacramento area we decided to try the newly opened one here in Chico after a wrestling tournament. Lets just say not a good experience. As a Chef I can tell a lot by the food when eating out. And this was disgusting. First.. My wife ordered a Frontega Chicken and some of the chicken was still undercooked. Not fully raw. But well under proper serving temperature to be safe. Secondly.. I ordered a Steak and White Cheddar. There was so little steak on the sandwich not sure how they call it a Steak sandwich. The bread on both was tough and chewy. And to give you a huge wedge of bread to go with two sandwiches, where were the chips they used to give ? So needless to say that was money well wasted and will not be going back there ever again. I would usually recommend this place. I have never had a bad time going there. I love their mac n cheese but I decided to get a sandwich today and I asked for no avocado and they put avocado on it so i go back and get one without. The costumer service was great and gave me a cookie because he felt bad. I go home and I gave my boyfriend the one with the avocado and there is a slice of paper from either the cheese or the meat and hair in the sandwich. read more

This place is a joke. The manager Zak and Haily are just some kids working this place. In fact, they all seem to be college kids working at this Panera bread and are simply there for a paycheck and could care less about the customers. Many people have a short lunch break and don't have time to waste teaching these panera bread employees to care about their work and fully inform their customers. These people are young college kids who dont seem to bright and can't get things right. Haily answers the phone burping and laughing and this place is just a joke. They also know it and don't care. These clowns said they'd address it but things haven't changed. Im done with this place and will take my business elsewhere and I know they could care less. If they were wise and a little brighter, they'd pay attention to the poor stars and ratings their getting and adjust their business ethic but these punk kids are there just for a paycheck. I've been to ALOT of Panera's. This one however is the most basic. They do not have waiter service at this location nor are the staff on top of certain request. We ordered to lunches of their Pick 2 and were given the table buzzer. After picking up our plates I realized we wanted an extra side of dressing. I stood at the pick up counter for at least 10 minutes. No one passed by or even seemed to be working in the back. I went to the registers to ask a cashier but the line was too long. Obviously didn't want to be rude and interrupt so I just went to sit back down. I just don't think there is nothing special about this location. Even the signage looks off. The chicken itself was tasty but there was hardly a smear of sauce on the bun making for a very dry, hard to swallow experience, only fancy lettuce to enhance. Went here for dinner last night with my husband and daughter. After paying $52 for some sandwiches and salads we waited and waited and waited some more for our food and we weren't the only ones. It wasn't even busy but everyone had to wait FOREVER for their food. It took over an hour to get our food and when it came my sandwich had a different kind of bread than it was supposed to come with, when I asked about it they said they were out of the other kind... would've been nice to know when I ordered it, I would have ordered something else. There were also no sourdough baguettes for the sides. It would have been nice to know they were so backed up and out of so many things when we ordered, we definitely would have gone elsewhere. I was kind of upset when I came here today. I went through the drive through for the first time. I ordered the chipotle chicken avocado melt and the broccoli cheddar soup. The reason I give two starts is from my previous experiences of the staff being so friendly and the food being great before. I am not sure what happened but they got my order completely wrong. There was bacon on my sandwich that is not supposed to come on it and I'm allergic so that was sad. It did not taste the same like they tried combining two different sandwiches. It took me a while to come in here and write my review because I attempted to block my visit from my memory. Went into Panera the second week it was open. Wanted to see what all the buzz was about. The place was full...we finally get to the front, and the person at the register asks if we want to get our order to go. "No thank you, I'm sure a table will open up" I told her...she proceeded to give me a blank stare. I'd looked at their allergen menu online as I'm gluten free, so I order and my boyfriend orders, and I'm handed my drink cup. Ummmmm, where's the soda machine? I aimlessly wandered around as the drink area is not in the line of anyone's sight unless you are in the back of the restaurant. Finally get a drink! Hooray! Found an open table, invited others to join us as it was a large table for 8. Meal comes after a long wait. It's packaged to-go...son of a...I tell them the order is for here. So they repackage it, or unpackage it, and we get our food. Or so we think. Our order is missing a soup. So we ask for our soup. While we're waiting for it, our order gets called again, packaged to go...it's like they didn't know they had already fulfilled our order. For the love...we finally get all of our food. Verdict? Sandwich is soggy on one side. Ewwww. Soup is mediocre. Boyfriend loved his bread bowl, thought soup was okay. Service is gawd awful! It's like no one was in charge even though there were clearly at least 2 managers on the floor. Kitchen is a hot mess. While we were there, there were at least a half dozen mistakes on orders. To top off the day, I went back up to the register when it had slowed down to ask if they had a gluten free menu (because they do show the options online). The girl at the register said they don't have any gluten free items. When I told her I had looked at the options online, her register buddy said "oh, we'd have to pull out the BIG binder." And then didn't even pull it out!! People keep saying they will get better and that it was just because they are new...I'm doubtful. It doesn't take a lot to provide excellent customer service. I get to the counter and I see my order's ready so I say "excuse me" to a lady behind the counter, and instead of simply replying, she mocks me and then walks away. Sure, people have off days, I've been there, but you don't have to mock the customer for it. So then after waiting a second a couple of guys come out and I tell them I got an order for doordash. A few seconds go by and then one of the guys hands me my order without saying a thing a dead expression on his face. After I said "thank you" he just turns and doesn't say a thing. The soup tasted so-so (not $10 worth) and the panini seemed pretty small for an extra $3.50. This was my first time trying Panera Bread and I'm far from impressed.
